Used Plug-In Hybrid vs Gas Car: Which One Really Saves You Money?
click here: Leave a text, tell us what you likedGasoline prices are up again, and that naturally raises a question: Would buying a used plug-in hybrid actually save you money compared with buying a gasoline vehicle? In this episode of the RetireCoast Podcast, we go beyond MPG and look at what really determines the answer. We compare actual used vehicles, gasoline and electricity costs, purchase price, depreciation, resale value, financing, insurance, maintenance, taxes, and—most importantly—how you actually drive.I also share my own experience buying a used Chevrolet Volt when I was commuting approximately 1,600 miles per month. The Volt worked extremely well for me financially, but that doesn't mean a PHEV will automatically be the right choice for you today. One of the most important findings from our used plug-in hybrid vs. gas car comparison is that a PHEV can cost substantially less per mile to operate on electricity and still not necessarily be the least-expensive vehicle to own. Purchase price and depreciation can erase thousands of dollars of fuel savings. We also discuss conventional hybrids, what happens if gasoline prices fall again, whether you really need an expensive home charger, and the seven numbers you should know before buying another vehicle. And there's an important warning: don't buy another vehicle simply because gasoline prices are high today. If your current vehicle is reliable and paid for, taking on a car payment, taxes, financing and depreciation just to reduce your gasoline bill could actually cost you more.If you already need another vehicle, however, that's when the comparison becomes particularly useful.Read the complete article and see the real-vehicle comparisons, charts and examples:Used Plug-In Hybrid vs Gas Car: Which Saves More Money? Then replace our assumptions with your own numbers using the free RetireCoast calculator:Used Hybrid vs Gas CalculatorFor more free tools, calculators, and articles designed to help you understand gasoline prices and reduce what you spend on fuel, visit:RetireCoast Fuel Price Intelligence CenterYour gas price. It's a collection of communities, traditions, parades, krewes, food, history, and local personalities stretching across southern Mississippi. In this episode of the RetireCoast Podcast, we take a city-by-city trip through 12 Mississippi communities and 12 unique ways to celebrate Mardi Gras. Handyman Taxes: The Hidden Retirement Cost of Not Reporting Your Income
click here: Leave a text, tell us what you likedWhat happens when your handyman side jobs become a real business? In this episode, we take a practical look at handyman taxes, self-employment income, Social Security, retirement planning, and the transition from skilled worker to small business owner. Many handymen and other self-employed tradespeople begin informally. A few jobs for friends become referrals. Cash starts coming in. Before long, the side hustle is producing real income—but taxes, bookkeeping, estimated payments, Social Security, retirement savings, and business planning may never have caught up.We discuss why reporting business income matters, why revenue isn't the same as profit, how legitimate business expenses affect what you actually earn, and why years of underreported self-employment income can potentially affect your Social Security earnings record later in life. The bigger question is this: Are you simply creating a job for yourself, or are you building a business? That's also the theme behind our RetireCoast Skilled Worker to Business Owner series, where we follow the fictional story of Jake Miller as he progresses from skilled tradesman to business owner. Jake's journey explores the decisions involved in starting, organizing, growing, and eventually building a trade business that may have value beyond the owner's own labor.Continue With RetireCoastRead the complete Handyman Taxes guide:https://retirecoast.com/handyman-taxes/Explore Skilled Trades Careers:https://retirecoast.com/skilled-trades-careers/Start the Skilled Worker to Business Owner series:https://retirecoast.com/skilled-worker-to-business-owner/RetireCoast Business Membership:https://retirecoast.com/business-membership/Listen to More of the Skilled Worker to Business Owner SeriesHow to Build a Successful Trade Business That Can Grow Beyond You:https://www.buzzsprout.com/1948879/episodes/19668870-how-to-build-a-successful-trade-business-that-can-grow-beyond-you.mp3?download=trueFrom Skilled Worker to Business Owner: Knowing When You're Ready to Make the Leap:https://www.buzzsprout.com/1948879/episodes/19668855-from-skilled-worker-to-business-owner-knowing-when-you-re-ready-to-make-the-leap.mp3?download=trueWhether you're a handyman, plumber, HVAC technician, electrician, landscaper, or another self-employed skilled worker, the objective is bigger than simply earning money from the next job.Build something legitimate. How to Build a Successful Trade Business That Can Grow Beyond You
click here: Leave a text, tell us what you likedStarting a trade business is one accomplishment. Building a successful trade business that can eventually operate without depending entirely on you is something very different. In this episode of the RetireCoast Podcast, we continue following Jake Miller and Gulf Coast Plumbing Experts as Jake learns that becoming a business owner is only the beginning.A plumber, electrician, HVAC technician, carpenter, or other skilled professional can leave a job, start a company, and quickly discover that they haven't really escaped employment—they've simply created a demanding new job for themselves. The long-term objective is different:Build a company, not just a job.We explore how a skilled tradesperson can begin making that transition through excellent customer service, repeatable systems, carefully timed hiring, professional relationships, referrals, partners and junior partners, financial discipline, and eventually developing people who can assume responsibilities that once belonged entirely to the founder. You'll also hear some of my own experiences building businesses, including why I believe you should wait as long as reasonably possible before hiring, why I've sometimes gone without a paycheck to make sure employees were paid, and why the responsibility of employing someone should never be taken lightly. We also return to our railroad metaphor. Growth creates branch lines everywhere. Some can strengthen your business. Others can distract you from the main track. And we'll discuss one of my favorite business principles:Never simply say no to a good customer. That doesn't mean performing work you aren't qualified or licensed to perform. It means developing a network of excellent tradespeople and professionals so that when a customer has a problem you can't solve, you can help connect them with someone who can.I've practiced this approach for years in property management, real estate, and investment-property ownership. The referrals and introductions I've made to small businesses and tradespeople have been worth hundreds of thousands of dollars over the past decade—and I've never needed a referral fee or markup to make those relationships valuable.Excellent people refer excellent people. That's how networks grow. And that's one way a small trade business can become something much larger than its founder. Most importantly, we explore a principle that will follow Jake throughout this series:Your business needs to become separate from you.Customers eventually need to trust the company, not only Jake.Employees need systems.Future leaders need responsibility. The company needs a reputation of its own.And someday, if Jake wants to sell Gulf Coast Plumbing Experts and retire, a buyer needs to be purchasing a business—not merely buying Jake's personal job.Read the complete RetireCoast guide:How to Build a Successful Trade Business That Can Grow Beyond YouFollow Jake Miller and Gulf Coast Plumbing Experts:Gulf Coast Plumbing ExpertsThis is the next chapter in our journey from skilled worker → business owner → business builder → eventual sale and retirement.Become excellent at your trade. Build an excellent business. click here: Leave a text, tell us what you likedWhen is the right time to move from skilled worker to business owner? In this episode of the RetireCoast Podcast, we explore what should happen before you leave a steady paycheck and start a business of your own.Using the story of Jake Miller, a fictional plumber who progresses from helper to skilled tradesman and eventually launches Gulf Coast Plumbing Experts, we examine the two tracks that need to develop together: becoming excellent at your trade while learning how to operate a successful business. We discuss financial preparation, family support, testing a business idea while you're still employed, customer service, ethics, business planning, cash flow, building professional relationships, learning from your employer, avoiding distracting opportunities, and recognizing when preparation has finally reached the point where the answer may be GO.You'll also hear lessons drawn from decades of real-world business ownership—including why you shouldn't burn bridges with a former employer, why employment should be treated as part of your education, why excellence matters, and why starting a business should be a calculated decision rather than a blind leap of faith. This episode introduces Jake's continuing journey from skilled worker to business owner. Beyond Automation: How AI Empowers the Small Business Owner
click here: Leave a text, tell us what you likedRetireCoast explores how artificial intelligence is revolutionizing small businesses by shifting the focus from worker replacement to the reduction of administrative friction. Instead of targeting large corporations, the source emphasizes that service-based industries, such as landscaping and HVAC, stand to gain the most by automating repetitive tasks like scheduling, billing, and customer inquiries. By utilizing generative AI and machine learning, entrepreneurs can reclaim significant time, allowing them to focus on high-value human expertise and relationship building. We argue that AI creates a level playing field, offering small firms access to sophisticated marketing and data analysis tools once reserved for major companies. Ultimately, the material suggests that the future of entrepreneurship involves a synergy between human judgment and automated efficiency, turning technology into a practical assistant rather than a threat. This transition is framed as a technological shift comparable to the rise of the internet, where early adoption provides a lasting competitive edge.Return and listen to our next podcast on this topic: How to Implement AI. We explain why trustee independence is essential, how courts evaluate ownership and control, and why properly structured irrevocable trusts have become an important tool for real estate investors, business owners, and families seeking long-term asset protection.During this episode, you'll learn:• What an irrevocable trust is and how it differs from a revocable living trust• Why control—not just ownership—is the key factor courts evaluate• The three essential roles in every irrevocable trust: grantor, trustee, and beneficiaries• How assets are transferred into an irrevocable trust• Why trustee independence is critical to maintaining legal separation• How irrevocable trusts can help protect real estate, LLC interests, and business ownership• The differences between an LLC and an irrevocable trust—and why many people use both together• The Four-Layer Asset Protection Model combining trusts, LLCs, insurance, and financing strategies• Common mistakes that can undermine an otherwise well-designed trust• How to select the right trustee, including individual versus professional trustees• A real-world case study illustrating why control can determine whether assets remain protected during litigationThis episode also discusses an important principle of asset protection planning: effective planning must occur before any claim, lawsuit, or creditor issue arises. Once legal trouble begins, moving assets may be ineffective—or even unlawful.Whether you're building wealth through real estate, protecting a closely held business, or creating a lasting legacy for your family, understanding the distinction between ownership and control can dramatically change how you approach estate planning. This podcast accompanies the comprehensive RetireCoast article:"Irrevocable Trust for Asset Protection: How It Works and Why Control Matters."The accompanying article includes:• Detailed illustrations and diagrams• Interactive educational tools• Trustee selection guidance• Asset protection decision resources• Frequently asked questions• Case studies and practical examplesExplore the complete Estate Planning Academy and discover dozens of free educational articles designed to help you make informed financial and estate planning decisions. For members of the RetireCoast Estate Planning Membership, you'll also gain access to advanced estate planning tools, including:• Irrevocable Trust Builder• Revocable Living Trust Builder• Trustee Selection Tool• Pour-Over Will Builder• Financial and medical planning documents• Asset protection resources and calculatorsRemember, this podcast is provided for educational purposes only and is not legal, tax, or financial advice. The Mechanics of the Pump: Why Diesel and Gasoline Prices Rise and Fall
click here: Leave a text, tell us what you likedWhat Do You Know About the Price of Gasoline and Diesel? The Hidden Story Behind Every GallonWhy does gasoline go up overnight but seem to take forever to come back down? Why does diesel sometimes cost more than gasoline even though both come from the same barrel of crude oil?Do gas stations really make huge profits from fuel sales? And why can fuel prices differ so dramatically between states such as California and Mississippi? In this episode of the RetireCoast Podcast, we take a deep dive into one of the most visible prices in the American economy: the price of gasoline and diesel. Most Americans purchase fuel every week, yet few understand the complex journey that takes place before gasoline reaches the pump. In this episode, we pull back the curtain on the global energy system and explain the factors that influence what consumers pay at service stations across the United States. You'll learn:✅ What crude oil actually is and how it was formed millions of years ago✅ The relationship between crude oil and natural gas✅ How a 42-gallon barrel of crude oil can produce approximately 45 gallons of finished petroleum products✅ Why refineries are among the most important pieces of infrastructure in the modern economy✅ How gasoline and diesel are produced through the refining process✅ Why gasoline and diesel serve completely different markets✅ The role of freight transportation, trucking, farming, railroads, ships, and construction equipment in diesel demand✅ Why gasoline prices rise quickly but often fall more slowly✅ How wholesale fuel costs affect local service stations✅ Why many gas stations earn more profit from coffee, snacks, and convenience store sales than fuel itselfWe also explore the fascinating history of the American service station.Travel back to the 1950s when pulling into a gas station was a completely different experience. Uniformed attendants pumped your fuel, checked your oil, cleaned your windshield, and handed out free road maps before sending you back onto America's highways. You'll discover:⛽ The birth of the first drive-in service stations⛽ The rise of full-service fueling⛽ The impact of the 1973 oil embargo⛽ The transition to self-service stations⛽ The emergence of modern convenience storesThe episode also examines many of the largest factors affecting fuel prices today, including:• Crude oil prices• Refining capacity• Transportation and distribution costs• Federal and state fuel taxes• Environmental regulations• Supply and demand• Seasonal gasoline blends• Weather events and natural disasters• Hurricanes• Refinery outages• Global conflicts and geopolitical tensionsWe also discuss ethanol and biofuels, including:🌽 Why approximately 10% of most gasoline sold in America comes from ethanol🌽 The role of American corn production🌽 The debate surrounding food versus fuel🌽 How agricultural policy can influence fuel marketsFor small business owners, this episode explains why fuel costs can have such a significant impact on profitability. We examine fuel consumption and operating costs for:🚚 Independent trucking companies🌱 Landscaping businesses🔧 HVAC, plumbing, and electrical contractors🐾 Mobile pet groomers🚛 Food trucks🧽 Pressure washing companiesYou'll learn why diesel prices influence far more than transportation costs and how rising fuel costs often find their way into the prices consumers pay for groceries, building materials, and everyday goods. One of the most eye-opening sections compares California and Mississippi, demonstrating how different approaches to fuel taxes, infrastructure funding, environmental programs, and transportation policy can significantly influence the final price consumers pay at the pump.By the end of this episode, you'll understand why there is rarely a single explanation for changing fuel prices. The price of gasoline and diesel reflects the combined influence of geology, engineering, transportation systems, economics, government policy, weather, agriculture, refining capacity, and global events.Whether you're a commuter, retiree, traveler, investor, or small business owner, understanding the price of gasoline and diesel can help you make more informed financial decisions.Business Owners: If fuel costs, operating expenses, and profitability are important to your business, explore RetireCoast's Business Builder Membership for access to calculators, forecasting tools, business planning resources, and entrepreneur-focused educational content.Visit RetireCoast.com to read the complete article, take the Fuel Knowledge Quiz, participate in reader polls, and explore our growing library of retirement, business, estate planning, history, and Mississippi Gulf Coast content.Thank you for listening to the RetireCoast Podcast.Support the show🎙️ Enjoyed This Episode?Subscribe to the RetireCoast Podcast for practical conversations about retirement planning, financial preparedness, estate planning, entrepreneurship, and life on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.👉 Visit RetireCoast.com for in-depth articles, calculators, decision tools, checklists, and guides that expand on the topics we cover in each episode.📋 Looking for more advanced planning resources?Explore our membership programs:• Estate Planning Membership — Build and organize your legacy with decision tools, trust planning resources, trustee selection guidance, emergency preparedness documents, and more.• Business Builder Membership — Access tools and resources designed to help entrepreneurs, retirees, side-hustlers, and small business owners start, manage, and grow a successful business.• All Access Membership — Receive complete access to both memberships and our entire premium planning library.Learn more at:https://retirecoast.com/estate-planning-membership/https://retirecoast.com/business-builder-membership/https://retirecoast.com/all-access-membership/💬 Have a question or a topic you'd like us to cover?Email: [email protected]...

How Gunpowder Won the Revolutionary War
click here: Leave a text, tell us what you likedRetireCoast explores how gunpowder served as the essential lifeblood of the American Revolution, arguing that the struggle for independence was as much a feat of logistics and chemistry as it was a political movement. Facing a desperate scarcity of ammunition, the colonies relied on a complex network of smuggling, domestic manufacturing, and daring raids to sustain their military efforts against Great Britain. Ordinary citizens, including women and farmers, contributed by extracting saltpeter from organic waste, while secret aid from France proved pivotal before an official alliance was formed. This overview highlights the extreme dangers of powder production and the strategic importance of various supply chains that kept the Continental Army functional. Ultimately, these tireless efforts to secure black powder, the revolution likely would have collapsed. In a modern context, the once-lethal chemical components of gunpowder have transitioned into peaceful applications like agriculture and energy storage. This podcast was created from a RetireCoast.Com article https://retirecoast.com/gunpowder-revolutionary-war/. Starting a Business in 1776 vs Today: What Colonial Entrepreneurs Can Still Teach Modern Business Owners
click here: Leave a text, tell us what you likedIn this episode, we explore what it was really like starting a business in 1776 during the founding of America and compare it to entrepreneurship in today’s modern economy. Long before LLCs, business loans, online banking, and digital marketing, colonial entrepreneurs built businesses through apprenticeships, personal reputation, merchant credit, manufacturing, and sheer resilience during one of the most uncertain periods in American history. We examine how printers, blacksmiths, merchants, tavern owners, manufacturers, and entrepreneurs such as Benjamin Franklin, Robert Morris, John Hancock, and James Hunter helped shape the early American economy during the American Revolution. From colonial weapons factories and iron works to tavern networking, transportation challenges, financing systems, and apprenticeship training, this episode reveals how entrepreneurship functioned during the Revolutionary era.We also compare 1776 entrepreneurship to today’s startup culture, discussing taxes, regulation, communication speed, women in business, colonial manufacturing, business networking, wealth creation, and the enduring entrepreneurial spirit that still drives innovation more than 250 years later. This exploration of colonial entrepreneurship is a featured part of RetireCoast’s 250th Anniversary series, which commemorates the upcoming 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Each article in this collection is specifically created to expose aspects of life in 1776 that are not generally known in traditional histories. For instance, the series dives into the often-overlooked realities of everyday citizens, highlighting the vital economic roles of women who managed taverns, print shops, and family businesses, as well as the hardships faced by camp followers, ordinary laborers, and prisoners on British prison ships.Furthermore, several articles in the series draw direct comparisons between the colonial era and the modern world. The series deeply contrasts what it was actually like starting and financing a business in 1776 with modern entrepreneurship, comparing a time of handwritten ledgers, informal partnerships, and zero liability protection to today's landscape of LLCs, global digital marketing, and complex regulations. It also features other direct "then and now" analyses, such as an exploration of how the prices and purchasing power of everyday goods have evolved over the last two-and-a-half centuries. https://retirecoast.com/starting-a-business-in-1776/Explore more historical articles, calculators, and business resources at RetireCoast.com and our America’s 250th Anniversary Hub.Support the show🎙️ Enjoyed This Episode?Subscribe to the RetireCoast Podcast for practical conversations about retirement planning, financial preparedness, estate planning, entrepreneurship, and life on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.👉 Visit RetireCoast.com for in-depth articles, calculators, decision tools, checklists, and guides that expand on the topics we cover in each episode.📋 Looking for more advanced planning resources?Explore our membership programs:• Estate Planning Membership — Build and organize your legacy with decision tools, trust planning resources, trustee selection guidance, emergency preparedness documents, and more.• Business Builder Membership — Access tools and resources designed to help entrepreneurs, retirees, side-hustlers, and small business owners start, manage, and grow a successful business.• All Access Membership — Receive complete access to both memberships and our entire premium planning library.Learn more at:https://retirecoast.com/estate-planning-membership/https://retirecoast.com/business-builder-membership/https://retirecoast.com/all-access-membership/💬 Have a question or a topic you'd like us to cover?Email: [email protected]...

How to Build an Estate Plan That Actually Protects Your Family
click here: Leave a text, tell us what you likedRetireCoast introduces the concept of an estate planning portfolio, which is defined as a unified system of legal tools rather than a solitary document. This podcast argues that relying solely on a will is insufficient and can lead to costly legal delays and family disputes. A robust plan should integrate a revocable living trust, a power of attorney, and healthcare directives to manage both assets and personal care during incapacity or after death. Through various case studies, we illustrate how these components work together to provide privacy, control, and clarity for loved ones. Relocating for Wealth Preservation: Strategic Taxes and Cost Management
click here: Leave a text, tell us what you likedThis RetireCoast article explores the financial complexities of relocating for wealth preservation, arguing that focusing solely on income tax is a mistake. RetireCoast highlights that states often implement tax shifts, where the reduction of one levy leads to an increase in property or sales taxes. We warn of an emerging trend where some regions are introducing wealth taxes and high-income surtaxes, while others use revenue triggers to phase out income taxes entirely. To combat these hidden costs, the RetireCoast proposes a comprehensive framework that measures total financial pressure, including housing and insurance. Ultimately, the goal is to help individuals determine if a move offers a durable financial advantage based on their specific professional or retirement profile.Read the source article at RetireCoast.Com. Bernardo de Gálvez and the Hidden Spanish Role in the American Revolution
click here: Leave a text, tell us what you likedAs the United States approaches the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 2026, historians are taking a closer look at the global forces that made American independence possible. This episode explores one of the most overlooked—but decisive—stories of the American Revolution: Spain’s role in defeating Britain and the leadership of Bernardo de Gálvez. When most Americans think of the Revolutionary War, the story unfolds along the Atlantic seaboard—Lexington and Concord, Valley Forge, Saratoga, and Yorktown. France is rightly remembered as a critical ally. Yet this familiar narrative leaves out a parallel war fought along the Gulf Coast and the Mississippi River, and a Spanish governor whose military, logistical, and financial leadership weakened British power far beyond the thirteen colonies. As governor of Spanish Louisiana, Bernardo de Gálvez directed a sweeping campaign against British strongholds along the Gulf Coast, capturing Baton Rouge, Natchez, Mobile, and ultimately Pensacola in 1781. These victories eliminated Britain’s Gulf Coast bases, disrupted supply lines, and forced British commanders to divert troops and resources away from the main war effort against George Washington’s army. This episode also examines the financial crisis of 1781, when the Franco-American alliance stood on the brink of collapse. Soldiers had gone unpaid, supplies could not be secured, and large-scale movement of troops was nearly impossible. The solution came from Havana, Cuba, where Spanish officials organized an emergency fund—often cited as more than one million silver pesos—raised from royal treasuries, merchants, and private citizens. That silver helped pay troops, fund logistics, and support the naval operations that culminated in the British surrender at Yorktown.Using contemporary letters and administrative records, this episode explains how money—not just muskets—determined the outcome of the war. While surviving correspondence rarely praises Spanish aid by name, the relief expressed by American and French leaders over finally having cash reveals just how decisive that support was. This is not a story of myth or exaggeration. It is a story of strategy, finance, and global alliance, and a reminder that American independence was won not only in colonial towns and eastern battlefields, but across an interconnected Atlantic and Gulf world.Whether you are a history enthusiast, educator, student, or Gulf Coast resident, this episode offers a deeper understanding of how the American Revolution was truly won—and why the USA-250 anniversary is the perfect moment to revisit these forgotten contributions.Support the show🎙️ Enjoyed This Episode?Subscribe to the RetireCoast Podcast for practical conversations about retirement planning, financial preparedness, estate planning, entrepreneurship, and life on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.👉 Visit RetireCoast.com for in-depth articles, calculators, decision tools, checklists, and guides that expand on the topics we cover in each episode.📋 Looking for more advanced planning resources?Explore our membership programs:• Estate Planning Membership — Build and organize your legacy with decision tools, trust planning resources, trustee selection guidance, emergency preparedness documents, and more.• Business Builder Membership — Access tools and resources designed to help entrepreneurs, retirees, side-hustlers, and small business owners start, manage, and grow a successful business.• All Access Membership — Receive complete access to both memberships and our entire premium planning library.Learn more at:https://retirecoast.com/estate-planning-membership/https://retirecoast.com/business-builder-membership/https://retirecoast.com/all-access-membership/💬 Have a question or a topic you'd like us to cover?Email: [email protected]...

Peace of Mind vs. Financial Flexibility: Should You Really Pay Off Your Home?
click here: Leave a text, tell us what you likedIn this RetireCoast episode, we explore the financial and psychological tradeoffs of owning a home outright versus maintaining a mortgage for strategic leverage. Using real-world scenarios and personal experience, we break down why a paid-off house can deliver peace of mind—but also introduce liquidity risks and significant opportunity costs. We unpack the often-overlooked reality that even without a mortgage, homeowners still face unavoidable expenses like property taxes, insurance, and ongoing maintenance. The episode also examines how home equity can function as a financial tool, including when it may make sense to borrow against equity to fund income-producing assets such as vacation rentals or other investments.Ultimately, this conversation reframes the “debt-free” debate and emphasizes that the right choice depends on individual risk tolerance, cash-flow needs, and prevailing interest-rate environments. In high-interest markets, paying down debt may be the smarter move—but in others, flexibility and liquidity can matter just as much as peace of mind.Support the show🎙️ Enjoyed This Episode?Subscribe to the RetireCoast Podcast for practical conversations about retirement planning, financial preparedness, estate planning, entrepreneurship, and life on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.👉 Visit RetireCoast.com for in-depth articles, calculators, decision tools, checklists, and guides that expand on the topics we cover in each episode.📋 Looking for more advanced planning resources?Explore our membership programs:• Estate Planning Membership — Build and organize your legacy with decision tools, trust planning resources, trustee selection guidance, emergency preparedness documents, and more.• Business Builder Membership — Access tools and resources designed to help entrepreneurs, retirees, side-hustlers, and small business owners start, manage, and grow a successful business.• All Access Membership — Receive complete access to both memberships and our entire premium planning library.Learn more at:https://retirecoast.com/estate-planning-membership/https://retirecoast.com/business-builder-membership/https://retirecoast.com/all-access-membership/💬 Have a question or a topic you'd like us to cover?Email: [email protected]...

The key reason this works is the lower cost of living on the Mississippi Gulf Coast compared with most coastal areas in the United States. In this episode we explore how retirees living on Social Security can create a realistic monthly budget that includes housing, utilities, healthcare, and everyday expenses. We examine two common retirement income scenarios for couples receiving Social Security benefits and show how those benefits can stretch further in a region where housing costs remain among the lowest of any coastal community in the country. The Mississippi Gulf Coast continues to attract retirees because it offers a combination of affordable housing, mild winters, coastal living, and access to healthcare providers that accept Medicare.Mississippi is also one of the most tax-friendly states for retirees. Fix Credit Without Getting Scammed: 15 Smart Moves for Millennials
click here: Leave a text, tell us what you likedThis guide from RetireCoast.com details how millennials can improve their credit scores without falling victim to predatory scams. RetireCoast advocates for a self-help approach, encouraging individuals to monitor their own free credit reports and use official government resources for disputes. 250 Years: Price Stability Lost to Slow Inflation
click here: Leave a text, tell us what you likedThe RetireCoast article, "The 250-Year Price Shock," argues that America's high modern cost of living is the result of a financial history moving from centuries of price stability to permanent, managed inflation. Using reconstructed family ledgers and wage data from colonial times, the piece demonstrates that purchasing power remained virtually unchanged for over 150 years (1720–1913), only temporarily interrupted by the severe effects of the Revolutionary War's fiat currency collapse. This long-standing stability was fundamentally broken by a series of 20th-century government actions, culminating in President Nixon’s 1971 decision to fully abandon the gold standard, which led to persistent, unbacked price increases. The author fiercely critiques the Federal Reserve's current 2% inflation target, claiming this policy is mathematically guaranteed to erode purchasing power significantly over the long term. Projections based on this compounding rate suggest that if the current trend continues, a skilled tradesman's daily wage by 2100 will buy exactly the same minimal amount of goods as it did during the absolute worst period of hyperinflation in 1779.Support the show🎙️ Enjoyed This Episode?Subscribe to the RetireCoast Podcast for practical conversations about retirement planning, financial preparedness, estate planning, entrepreneurship, and life on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.👉 Visit RetireCoast.com for in-depth articles, calculators, decision tools, checklists, and guides that expand on the topics we cover in each episode.📋 Looking for more advanced planning resources?Explore our membership programs:• Estate Planning Membership — Build and organize your legacy with decision tools, trust planning resources, trustee selection guidance, emergency preparedness documents, and more.• Business Builder Membership — Access tools and resources designed to help entrepreneurs, retirees, side-hustlers, and small business owners start, manage, and grow a successful business.• All Access Membership — Receive complete access to both memberships and our entire premium planning library.Learn more at:https://retirecoast.com/estate-planning-membership/https://retirecoast.com/business-builder-membership/https://retirecoast.com/all-access-membership/💬 Have a question or a topic you'd like us to cover?Email: [email protected]...
