Review of Myopia Management

January 15, 2021 The new guide, Managing Myopia: A Clinical Response to the Growing Epidemic, aims to improve on the fact that only five percent of eye care practitioners worldwide are actually engaged in myopia management.  AOA President-Elect Robert Layman, OD, and Johnson & Johnson Vision’s Noel Brennan, BOptom, MScOptom, PhD, FAAO, spoke with Review of Myopia Management’s John Sailer about their organizations’ involvement in creating this new guide along with the American Academy of Optometry, the Association of Schools and Colleges of Optometry, and the Singapore Optometric Association. Listen to this podcast to learn what this new guide has to offer eye care professionals, patients, and parents in regards to slowing the onset and progression of myopia, and hear what we can expect from Johnson & Johnson Vision “over the next year or so.” Managing Myopia: A Clinical Response to the Growing Epidemic is available to download here.

The American Academy of Ophthalmology’s Myopia Task Force brought together experts on myopia from around the world to develop an action plan to delay the onset of myopia in children and slow its progression. Review of Myopia Management’s John Sailer recently interviewed the leader of the AAO’s Myopia Task Force, Richard L. Following news of the success of the recent Game On: Battling Myopia In Real Life social media campaign from the Global Myopia Awareness Coalition (GMAC), Review of Myopia Management’s John Sailer interviewed GMAC Board Chair Matt Oerding about the success of the initiative’s 350 million total impressions encouraging parents to seek treatment options for their children’s myopia.
