Karla Harris is known for buttery vocals, dynamic delivery and nuanced storytelling in song.  A passionate educator in addition to performing, Harris was named a 2024 recipient of Atlanta Magazine’s “Women Making a Mark” award in recognition of her jazz outreach and education programs. In April 2025, she was one of 29 individuals from across North America named a “Jazz Hero” by the Jazz Journalists Association. In 2017, Harris joined the Jazz Studies department of Kennesaw State University as an artist-in residence and initiated the Vocal Jazz studio there. They discuss the ideas, personnel and real-life processes that led to the making of this stunning and unique record.
