I just finished the last parts of my Halloween '24 - 30 Years On All '94 Mix. Ayo, the SB JungleCats (me, Professor West, and Paige) + special guest DJ Binz all the way from LA had just shut down our first Jungle & DnB set at M Special, my Santa Barbara spot, last Saturday night. We were still feeling the aftershocks from that all-nighter with DJ Binz, who crashed at my crib (peep the mix below). Then, come Sunday at 10pm-1am Professor West, Rikochet and Vucci jumped into another 3-hour session on KCSB-FM. I was running on fumes, no lie, had no idea what I was gonna drop, so I kicked things off with some liquid vibes and tried to ride that wave. I've been working on and off this set for about 6 months. I planned to make it all Drumfunk but I pulled most of those tunes out and will make a part 2 that is mostly Drumfunk and Amens. This is by far the hardest Amen Bullets set I've made to date, but it's my sweet spot between Jungle and Drum & Bass, really this is my niche. Hope you like it, I love it! Following the release of the 93 Lost Tape, https://soundcloud.com/djrikochet/lost-world-domination-e-mix-remixed-july-2023 this is the set that I made after it in mid-1994. Kaleidoscope tapes were sold through Sydney's Central Station Records. Only on a 90min tape, so many tunes were left off it at the time. This is the set I wanted to play on the B-Side. All of these tunes were in my record box at the time but I just didn't get the chance to record them. This is a remix of the B-Side only. I actually remixed this set 2 years ago after I was informed about the lost tape being found. It was also close timing on the passing of our fallen friend, Shaun Chatfield, so I thought it was timely to pay homage to him with a memorable set of those times. It was Shaun who invited us to record the set in his lair, warehouse, rave dungeon, recovery pad, or whatever it was called, we had the best times of our lives in that place. Dedicated to our fallen rave brother Shaun Chatfield, where this long lost tape was recorded in early 94. Originally, an all-vinyl 45min mix on Side A. I used to play these tunes a lot back then, but most people knew me for my early morning breakbeat sets, or hardcore sets at raves. I saved a lot of my trance music for the recovery parties and Shaun's warehouse was one of the best for that. So many amazing memories! I've been working on this set on and off for over 3 years. I was constantly challenged with the tune selection. I made a 45 min mix in 2018 and loved it, kept it to myself, and then when I went to remix it I totally changed it. Anyway.. this is my '92 Happy breakbeat Mix. This mix could have easily become Vol 9 part 3 because of the similar style of tunes, feel and tempo. So if you liked Vol 9 parts 1 & 2 then you're in for a treat. My first set for 2020, starts with an epic soundscape by Shell followed by some blissful new-skool jungle from the legendary Dutch producer Sully (one of my favs at the moment for sure). Followed by a number of rasta sounds, upbeat melodies and jungle riddims before sliding into to some deeper amen business with a time machine moment from Tommy The Cat, back into a classic 95 Foul Play remix by Army of Ghosts. Wait until you hear Sonar's Ghost epic remix of Second Chance (Wow!). The mix gets phat & bold with some serious Amen business from Sobotka on AKO before the warriors clash and there can be ONLY ONE.
