Radio Enso #139-Writer/philosopher/adventurer Andre Solo-Fellowship of the Wheel
RESCHEDULED because of technical difficulties: Join me on Monday, September 22nd at 6 p.m. Pacific/9 Eastern on Radio Enso when I welcome writer, philosopher, and professional adventurer André Solo, the Rogue Priest, who returns to the show for what promises to be another great conversation! We’ll discuss his upcoming Fellowship of the Wheel bicycle trip across Mexico and much more! About André: “I want to do extraordinary things, and help others do them. I want to feel what the epic heroes felt even when they were scared.” I’m André, your rogue priest. I’m a writer, a philosopher, and a professional adventurer. For me, adventure is a life practice, a tool for challenging yourself beyond your limit. To adventure is not just to discover who you are, but to re-create what you find. I’m a polytheist priest. That means I recognize many faces of the divine, and I admit I do not know what the divine is. In fact, I’m on a rather long quest to find out if it exists at all. I do know that there is a powerful, beautiful force that moves many people through their spirituality. But I don’t know what that force is. Instead of putting my faith in it, I prefer to travel, learn and ask questions. And I like to think that we all have the power to improve our own lives, starting with ourselves, no matter what we believe. About Fellowship of the Wheel: I’m bicycling across Mexico starting November 8 and I’d like you to come too. No cycling experience is necessary. I’ve divided the ride into 10 segments, some as short as 3 days and some as long as 7. My hope is that as many people as possible will try biking with me, and get a taste of adventure for themselves.

He has written four New York Times bestsellers that combine memoir, science, humor and a dash of self-help. AJ’s speech was a highlight at WDS 2014 and this promises to be a great conversation! We’ll discuss his upcoming MegaReunion, his Year of Living Biblically, his various books and experiments, and much more! About: A.J. Jacobs is an author, journalist, lecturer and human guinea pig. He has written four New York Times bestsellers that combine memoir, science, humor and a dash of self-help. He is also editor at large at Esquire magazine, a commentator on NPR and a columnist for Mental Floss magazine. His first book, The Know-It-All: One Man’s Humble Quest to Become the Smartest Person in the World chronicles the 18 months Jacobs spent reading the entire Encyclopedia Britannica in a quest to learn everything in the world. After trying to improve his mind, he turned to his spirit. The Year of Living Biblically: One Man’s Humble Quest to Follow the Bible as Literally as Possible (2007) tells of his attempt to follow the hundreds of rules in the Good Book. In 2012, Jacobs completed his mind-spirit-body self-improvement trinity with Drop Dead Healthy: One Man’s Humble Quest for Bodily Perfection. It is the tale of his quest to be as healthy as humanly possible for which he revamped his diet, exercise regimen, sleep schedule, sex life, posture and more.

Radio Enso #137 with Warren and Betsy Talbot from Married with Luggage
Join me on Monday, August 25th at 6 p.m. Pacific/9 Eastern on Radio Enso when I welcome Warren and Betsy Talbot from Married with Luggage. Warren and Betsy write about relationship hacks and insights on Modern Love. They challenge the prevailing ‘wisdom’ that relationships grow less exciting over time, or that you have to settle for less in love as you get older. They cohost the popular Married with Luggage podcast, a weekly conversation with experts around the world on love, sex, and communication in today’s modern relationships. When they aren’t traveling the world, you can find them writing their next book in a small, whitewashed village in Spain. About What We Learned About Love by Traveling the World: "A trip around the world…together; Think your relationship would survive it?" We weren’t so sure of our chances either, but after living, working, and traveling together 24/7, we’ve learned a lot about what’s important to a relationship – and (sometimes more importantly) what’s not. We’ve been married since 2004. That’s 10 years in regular human years, and a golden anniversary if you start clocking the hours we’ve spent together since selling everything we owned to live, travel and work together full-time in 2010. The sheer volume of time spent together in ever-changing environments around the world and while trying to make a living has forced us to learn lessons it might take years or decades to learn in a more conventional setting. And we’re happy to share the results of this life-sized experiment we’ve been living.

Radio Enso #136 w/Jonathan Ronzio of Between The Peaks -adventure with an impact
Join me on Monday, August 18th at 6 p.m. Pacific/9 Eastern on Radio Enso when I welcome avid mountaineer, snowboarder, environmentalist, and adventurist Jonathan Ronzio- the team leader, director, and creative visionary behind Between The Peaks, a new documentary film debuting this Fall "where what matters more than the peaks you climb is the difference you make along the way"! About Between The Peaks: The only thing better than climbing two of the world’s tallest mountains is the journey between them. In 2013 three friends (Jonathan Ronzio, Ethan Lee, and Ryan Sarka) set out to climb the “roof of the Americas” …also known as Mt. Aconcagua, in Argentina. They would then travel north to Alaska’s Denali, and on that 18,000 mile journey volunteer with environmental or humanitarian causes in every country they passed through. Not everything went to plan, but that was all part of the adventure. Between the Peaks is the exciting adventure of three friends, where the only thing better than summiting two of the worlds tallest mountains is the journey that lies between them. "Get out there and reach for your dreams, but make a difference along the way." About Jonathan Ronzio: an avid mountaineer, snowboarder, environmentalist, and overall adventurist. Jonathan is the team leader, director, and creative visionary behind Between The Peaks. For more information about Between the Peaks, visit www.betweenthepeaks.com.

Radio Enso #135 with writer, yogi, and activist Jessica Glendinning- Rebel Yogi
Join me on Monday, August 11th at 6 p.m. Pacific/9 Eastern on Radio Enso when I welcome writer, yogi, activist, and musician Jessica Glendinning from Rebel Yogi. She joins me to discuss yoga changing the world, sustainability and burnout among world changers, making a positive impact, interconnectivity, and much more! About Jessica: I am a writer, a yogi, a rebel. Along my path, this has looked like being a communications assistant at an environmental law firm, the founder of a volunteer-based startup, or the executive director of a small environmental nonprofit. Ultimately, I’m just trying to help people live their lives and run their businesses while also being good stewards. I care deeply about our planet and the people on it, and in the long run my work is about saving them both. In my personal explorations of world-changing and environmentalism, I have felt the frustration of the fight – both against external forces as well as the infighting that so often detracts from positive change – and believe in the day when enough people will come to the realization that our planet is an intricately woven web of environment, health, agriculture, water, social justice… and that we are all connected. Throughout my journeying, I have always felt that something was missing, that there had to be a better way of looking at the world, and a more sustainable method for caring for both ourselves and our mother earth. I spent many years approaching this from an activist’s perspective, on the front lines of the fight, burning intensely and wondering if there was an end in sight. Then, five years ago, I found my way on to my yoga mat for the first time. For more info, visit http://www.rebel-yogi.com.

Radio Enso #134 with serial crafter and blogger Elise Blaha Cripe "I Make Stuff"
Radio Enso is back with all new episodes beginning Monday, August 4th at 6 p.m. Pacific/9 Eastern when I welcome serial crafter, blogger, and maker Elise Blaha Cripe. She joins me to discuss discuss like as a maker and a creative. Her speech at #wds2014 was a favorite of many attendees for her message that each of us can and should take our passions and turn them into income. Elise will share tips for how she’s done just that as well as her own life journey and what she’s got on tap, project-wise! About Elise Blaha Cripe: My name is Elise. I live in San Diego, California with my husband Paul and baby girl, Ellerie. I have been blogging since Christmas day 2005. And I started a blog for the same reason everyone does... I thought I had something interesting to say. Over seven years later and I am still typing away. For better or worse, this makes blogging my longest running hobby ever. And it's the one I would most like to keep. Amidst the falling in love, deciding to make a lasting commitment bits and cross-country military moves, I kept blogging. And kept crafting. Soon my blog and my shop became a business that allowed me to forsake all other day jobs and just do this. And "this" is a bunch of little stuff. I sell rubber stamps & books. I teach workshops. I was honored and thrilled to design the Seafoam kit for Project Life. But really, my focus is on this blog. I work really hard to develop original, creative and honest content. Join me Monday, July 14th at 6 p.m. Pacific/9 Eastern on Radio Enso as we dip into the RE Archives. We'll be re-airing a great chat I had back in August 2013 with veteran radio host and journalist Tess Vigeland. Tess wowed the crowd at WDS in Portland, Oregon last summer with her keynote speech "What the Hell Are You Doing?! A Serious Stare Down the Barrel of an Ordinary Life", her vulnerable and real-life tale of giving up a sure thing for the chance to pursue a dream! We learned more about Tess' journey, what happened immediately after her speech, and how her brave talk about "figuring out Act Four" has already inspired so many! Radio Enso #133- Daniel Noll and Audrey Scott from Uncornered Market return!
Join me Monday, July 7th at 6 p.m. Pacific/9 Eastern on Radio Enso when I welcome the return of two of my favorite past guests, Daniel Noll and Audrey Scott, the husband-and-wife storytelling team from Uncornered Market! They join me to discuss travel as a tool for personal development, their recent trip to Ethiopia and East Africa, and MUCH more! About: Twelve years ago we left San Francisco with six suitcases, a one-way ticket to Prague, Czech Republic and no jobs. Everyone asked, “Are you crazy?” Five years later, we did it again. We quit our traditional office jobs in Prague, sold everything, packed our life into backpacks and set off with a one-way ticket to Bangkok, Thailand. Our sights were set not on a particular city this time, but on the rest of the world. Our family and friends really thought we had lost it. Not at all. This was us wanting to live deliberately and not asking What if? with regret later in life. What was meant to be a 12-18 month creative sabbatical turned into seven years (and still going) of exploring and sharing stories from this big, beautiful world of ours through our blog and social media channels. Our goal at Uncornered Market is not just to inspire, but to help others build a story-filled life, whether that may take them around the block…or around the world. You might find us on a grimy, overnight chicken bus in rural India one day and sharing the story on stage the next day. We have been described as adventurers, professionals, and most recently, as travelers and storytellers. For more information, visit http://uncorneredmarket.com.
