Rock and Refuge

Speaker:  Pastor Dan Latta  This message concludes our journey through the book Practicing The Way by John Mark Comer.  We look at how our goal in spiritual formation is to look more like Jesus and less like ourselves.  The sermon focuses on how using a Rule of Life, a plan to follow Jesus, can be a helpful tool in doing this.  We also discuss how the measuring stick of our spiritual formation is love.

Speaker:  Pastor Dan Latta  In this episode we explore the biblical concept of fasting and we look at how practicing this often overlooked spiritual discipline can help draw us closer to God.

Speaker:  Amy Latta Most of us know that community is important but do we really get how important it truly is?  In this episode, Amy shows us how important it is to surround yourself with the kind of people that will encourage you, look out for you, and help you grow in your relationship with God.  She also shows us how we can pour back into our community of friends and family members to bless their lives as well.  

Speaker:  Lee Ann Crochunis In this episode we take a look at the spiritual discipline of solitude and how setting aside intentional time to be alone with God can help you draw closer to him.  Lee Ann also shows us that these special times with God can bring about major transformation in our lives.

Speaker:  Pastor Dan Latta Prayer is such a big topic and there is so much to say about it.  In this episode, we see how Jesus used the Lord's prayer for a model of how to pray and we also learn different ways to pray from people in our own congregation that have thriving prayer lives with God.  The goal is to provide you the listener with a host of different ways to approach God in prayer so that you can find ways that resonate with you and help you draw closer to God.

Speaker:  Pastor Dan Latta This podcast is a combination of two messages I shared at Rock and Refuge Church regarding homosexuality.  I chose to combine them into one for this podcast because the messages are designed to go together so if you only listen to one of them you get an incomplete picture.  The world has a lot to say about homosexuality.  The church, not so much these days.  That is why I felt so strongly that these messages needed to be shared.  My hope is that all who listen will see that I have done my best to communicate with love, respect, grace, and truth.  

Pastor Dan LattaThis is week one of a three week series titled PG-13.  In this series we dive into difficult topics into which the church all too often avoids speaking.  This first message looks at God's original design for sex and how that relates to our lives today.  It also gives helpful advice for how to overcome lust and other unhealthy sexual practices and move to a place of sexual purity.  

Speakers:  Pastor Dan Latta, Matthew & Karli Von Herbulis.In this message we get a chance to hear about the amazing work that Matthew and Karli Von Herbulis are doing on the mission field in Rwanda and beyond.  Matthew is the director of Sowers of Hope, a ministry that empowers farmers in Rwanda to embrace their God given call to their profession of working the land and showing the value of their work and how it relates to the gospel of Jesus.  His ministry has led many people to a relationship with Jesus and it has spread into several other countries.  Karli is the Director of Soul Care and Wellness for New International.  Her work involves helping over 230 missionary affiliates working in 60+ countries.  Missionary burnout is a real thing as families face all kinds of unique challenges when they enter the mission field.  Karli helps to provide resources and care for missionaries so that they are able to stay on the mission field and continue their work of growing God's kingdom.

Speaker:  Pastor Dan Latta  Most Christians are familiar with the giving of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost but did you know there are other significances to this special day.  Long before the Holy Spirit descended on those early followers of Jesus, the Jewish people celebrated this holiday (also called "the feast of weeks").  In this message we take a look at three significant things celebrated at Pentecost and then we take a closer look at how some of the more obscure Old Testament laws are very much still relevant to us today.
