Here is a sneak peak at the new season of another Los Angeles Times Studios podcast called "Crimes of the Times." In the show, L.A. Times staff writer Christopher Goffard revisits old crimes in Los Angeles and beyond, from the famous to the forgotten, the consequential to the obscure, diving into archives and the memories of those who were there. This new season kicks off with a four part series about how an amateur codebreaker may have cracked the Zodiac killer's infamously complex Z13 code, and how the name it reveals potentially connects the Zodiac killer to another notoriously unsolved California murder: The Black Dahlia.

Episode 6: Omar, the roommate, speaks and Garage sees his sister for the first time since he was a teenager. Faryon learns she is not responsible for her mother’s death and convinces a world expert on diagnosing consciousness to test Garage. She’s finally able to answer the question she had when she first met Garage - is he still in there?

Episode 5: The nursing home director contacts Garage’s family to break the news of his medical condition. Faryon travels to Ohio to learn what led Garage to the California desert in the summer of 1999. Garage celebrates his birthday for the first time in 17 years.

Episode 4: Sixty-Six Garage is identified and Faryon tracks down another man in the same accident as Garage. She learns what really caused the crash and begins to suspect authorities might have known Garage’s identity since the day of the accident.

Episode 3: Sixty-Six Garage gets a new roommate - Omar Salgado - a young cyclist hit by a car on a highway. He’s unconscious and near death. There’s a major breakthrough in identifying Garage - will he recognize his name?

Episode 2: An old newspaper article provides clues to Garage’s accident, but many of the details turn out to be false. Faryon finds the accident report that everyone believed was destroyed years ago, and it becomes her roadmap in solving Garage’s mystery.

Episode 1: Reporter Joanne Faryon quits her job to find out what happened to a man known as Sixty-Six Garage. After spending six days with him in his nursing home room, she starts to question whether he’s actually in a vegetative state, like she was first told.
