Why Jesus Came To Save Not Condemn
Jesus doesn’t arrive as a critic looking for reasons to condemn us. He arrives with a mission, and John 3:17 says it plainly: God sends his Son to save the world. That single verse changes the emotional temperature of the Gospel, and we slow down to ask what it means for real people who carry real guilt, real wounds, and real questions about who Jesus is and why he came.We trace the mission through Scripture the way the Bible presents it. John the Baptist points and names Jesus “the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world,” and we talk about why that language mattered to Israel and why it still matters for Christians today. Then Luke 2 brings Simeon onto the scene, holding Jesus and calling him salvation, a light for the Gentiles and glory for Israel. That’s not small or tribal. It’s worldwide and deeply personal. From there we step into John 4, where Jesus “has to” go through Samaria and meets the woman at the well. Watching him love someone labeled an outsider forces us to face a hard truth: outsiders sometimes see what insiders miss. We also connect Jesus’ own mission statements, his resolve to finish the work, and the way his cross draws people in, leading straight into the Great Commission and the ongoing mission of the church. If Jesus truly is the Savior of the world, what does that change about how we treat the unreachable, the untouchable, and the people we’d rather avoid? Subscribe, share this with a friend, leave a review, and tell us what part of Jesus’ mission you want to live out this week.Learn More at 109.churchWe invite you to join us in this journey of faith. Who Is Jesus
If we’re going to give our lives to Jesus, we should be able to answer one question without dodging it: who is He? We’re back on Rooted and Grounded with a fresh format and a focused theme, and we start where Christianity truly begins and ends, the claim that Jesus is the Son of God. That confession isn’t a religious slogan; it’s the line between “good teacher” and Lord of everything. We trace the evidence straight from the Bible, moving from the Father’s words at Jesus’ baptism (“This is my beloved Son”) to Peter’s confession that becomes foundational, and then into Colossians 1 where Christ is described as the image of the invisible God, creator and sustainer, head of the church, and the one who brings peace by the blood of the cross. We also talk about a detail many people overlook: even demons recognize Jesus’ identity in Mark 5, and that spiritual witness adds a sobering weight to the question of belief. Then we bring it down to street level. What does it mean today to confess “I believe that Jesus is the Son of God”? We connect that confession to Hebrews 1 and to the authority Jesus shows in John 11 when He calls Lazarus out of the grave, plus the controversy in Mark 2 when He forgives sins and people realize only God can do that. We also make space for skeptics who get stuck on “impossible” claims like the virgin birth or resurrection, and we explain why belief often grows through layers of evidence and an honest, seeking heart. If you’ve ever wrestled with who Jesus really is, press play, share this with a friend who’s asking hard questions, and leave a review so more people can find it. Subscribe for the rest of the series and tell us: what Scripture most clearly answers “who is Jesus” for you?Learn More at 109.churchWe invite you to join us in this journey of faith. If Every Knee Will Bow, When Will You
We trace the golden thread from Psalm 110 to Pentecost to show why Jesus’ ascension means he reigns now. We unpack what “right hand of God” signals for power, hope, and how we live while every enemy moves toward defeat.• Psalm 110 as the map for Christ’s enthronement• Right hand as authority, honor, and finished work• Jesus confronting the Pharisees with David’s Lord• Peter’s claim: made both Lord and Christ• Enemies as footstool: already and not yet• 1 Corinthians 15 and the last enemy, death• Ancient victory imagery and public submission• Courage for believers under pressure• Bow willingly now rather than laterLearn More at 109.churchWe invite you to join us in this journey of faith. Lifted Up: Why The Ascension Matters
A cloud didn’t end the story—it expanded it. We dive into Acts 1:6–11 to explore why the ascension is not Jesus’ exit, but the moment His earthly ministry gives way to His heavenly reign and the church’s global mission. If you’ve ever wondered why He had to go, or how the Spirit changes ordinary people into bold witnesses, this conversation brings clarity and courage. We start with the disciples’ honest question about restoring Israel and uncover how Jesus redirects their focus from timelines to power. The ascension becomes the necessary pivot for Pentecost, where the Spirit empowers the witness that spreads from Jerusalem to Judea, Samaria, and the ends of the earth. Along the way, we unpack how the ascension confirms the Father’s acceptance of the Son’s perfect work, why intercession matters for your prayer life, and how Ephesians 2 repositions our identity with Christ in the heavenly places. We also sit with the angels’ words: stop staring and start serving. Readiness for Christ’s return is not a countdown; it’s a calling. Expectation turns into action—repentance today, courage today, love today—because the same Jesus who ascended will come again. If you need a fresh vision for mission, a deeper confidence in prayer, or a reason to raise your eyes without leaving the ground, this one is for you.If this conversation stirred you, share it with a friend, hit follow, and leave a review so others can find the show. Jesus Said He Was the Way – His Followers Became It
The original Jesus movement was known as "The Way" before the term Christian was even used, reflecting how the first believers embraced Jesus' claim to be the exclusive path to God.• The designation "The Way" appears five times throughout the book of Acts• Jesus proclaimed himself as "the way, the truth, and the life" in John 14:6• Peter's Pentecost sermon led 3,000 people to be baptized and added to the church• Following "The Way" involved conviction, baptism, devotion, unity, and daily fellowship• When persecution scattered believers, they continued preaching everywhere they went• The early church crossed cultural barriers by taking the message to Samaria• Saul (Paul) transformed from persecutor of "The Way" to its most passionate advocate• There are no examples of unbaptized believers in the early church• The Lord added to the church those who were being saved• Modern believers are challenged to share the same conviction and urgencyLearn More at 109.churchWe invite you to join us in this journey of faith. Beyond Happiness: Finding Untouchable Joy in Jesus
Ever wondered about the difference between a fruit and a vegetable? Beyond the culinary distinction, there's a profound spiritual lesson—fruits contain seeds that spread life, while vegetables are merely structural. This botanical truth launches us into Jesus' powerful teaching that He is the Vine and we are the branches. When you disconnect a branch from its life source, it withers rapidly. Many of us have seen this in our gardens—cut a stalk, and everything attached to it dies. This vivid imagery perfectly captures what happens in our spiritual lives when we're disconnected from Christ. The difference is stark: permanent withering versus abundant growth.Abiding in Christ isn't a casual visit; it's taking up permanent residence. Think about the difference between staying at someone else's house versus being in your own home. At home, you experience comfort, safety, and belonging. Too many Christians want to "visit Jesus' house" occasionally rather than making Him their permanent dwelling place. True discipleship means Christ is your address, not your destination. The purpose of this abiding relationship becomes clear—bearing fruit that glorifies God and proves our discipleship is genuine. This fruit isn't just good works but encompasses the entirety of the fruit of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. And just as fruit contains seeds, our spiritual fruitfulness spreads faith to others.Perhaps most profound is Jesus' promise that abiding in Him produces joy—not mere happiness that fluctuates with circumstances, but deep, untouchable joy that persists even through trials. As James tells us, we can "count it all joy" during difficulties because our joy isn't dependent on external conditions but on our connection to the Vine. Are you merely visiting Christ occasionally, or have you taken up permanent residence in Him? The difference isn't just semantic—it's the difference between life and death, between withering and flourishing, between temporary happiness and lasting joy.Listen now and discover how staying connected to Jesus as the true Vine transforms everything about how you live and grow.Learn More at 109.churchWe invite you to join us in this journey of faith. Why Did Early Christians Call Themselves "The Way"?
Standing amid the tension and uncertainty of the Last Supper, Jesus offers his troubled disciples a powerful declaration that would anchor the faith of millions for millennia to come: "I am the way, the truth, and the life."Imagine the scene—confusion fills the air as Jesus speaks of betrayal and denial. The disciples' hearts race with anxiety about what lies ahead. It's precisely in this moment of emotional turmoil that Jesus provides clarity that cuts through their fear. Wayne and Matt unpack this profound statement verse by verse, revealing how early Christians so embraced this concept that they called themselves followers of "The Way."The conversation moves beyond theological abstractions to practical application. What does it mean when Jesus claims to be "the truth" in a world where truth feels increasingly relative? How does following Jesus' way lead not to restriction but to freedom? The hosts explore how every commandment Jesus gives is designed not to burden us but to benefit us—contrary to the chaos that results from following our own whims. Most compellingly, they illuminate how Jesus doesn't merely point to a way of living—he embodies it through his perfect life of obedience, love, and humility. When life feels like "a small boat in a strong storm out on the sea," Jesus provides not just a destination but accompaniment along the journey.Whether you're questioning your direction in life, struggling with competing truth claims, or searching for purpose beyond the daily grind, this episode offers a lighthouse perspective to navigate life's storms with confidence. Bread of Life | Unraveling Jesus' Divine Identity
By mid-January, most New Year’s resolutions have already bitten the dust. 😅 Studies show that nearly 80% of resolutions fail by February, leaving many of us feeling frustrated and stuck in the same patterns. Why is change so hard? Maybe it’s because we’re focusing on surface-level goals rather than addressing deeper, lasting transformation. We kick off with John 6:35—"I am the bread of life." Bread is central to scripture, life, and culture, and Jesus connects this basic need with the profound truth that He alone sustains us. We revisit the miraculous feeding of the 5,000 and wonder: how could the crowd still question who He was? What does that teach us about faith, doubt, and trust today?Through personal stories, some humor, and meaningful insights, we dig into how Jesus’ words challenge us to shift from short-lived resolutions to enduring, life-giving transformation. We dive deeper into Jesus’ profound claim, “I am the bread of life” (John 6:35), exploring His role as the eternal sustainer of our souls. Just as manna fed the Israelites in the wilderness, Jesus provides the essential nourishment we need—not just for today, but for eternity. We unpack the connection between belief and life, as highlighted in John 6:29, where Jesus calls us to trust in Him as the unblemished sacrificial lamb and the victorious, resurrected Lord. Much like our daily need for food, a continuous relationship with Jesus is essential for spiritual health and vitality.Through this lens, we reflect on His unwavering purpose, His invitation to abide in Him, and the transformative power of His teachings. It’s a conversation about finding lasting fulfillment, sustained not by fleeting resolutions, but by the Bread of Life Himself.Learn More at 109.churchWe invite you to join us in this journey of faith.
