Episode 120: The Future of Fashion
This year has been one of reflection. And when looking back, one can’t help but also look forward. As we begin to emerge from our Covid quarantines, we’re wondering what we can expect from the fashion industry. This week, we discuss the big themes we expect to see and the trends we think will continue. Sustainability, the rise of ecommerce, exceptional personal service, inclusion and diversity, resale, quality over quantity and cyclical fashion all have a place moving forward. And we couldn’t take a look at the industry without thinking about the future of RWCT and our place in it. Listen in to hear what’s happening. Plus in Style Snacks, Psykhe is live and kinda like the shopping version of online dating. www.runwaywalkscurrenttalks.com https://www.instagram.com/runwaywalkscurrenttalks/ https://twitter.com/RunwayTalks https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCW7W32h_5l7nnlrL1vazjlw/featured

Episode 119: Mugler, Designer for the Future
Futuristic meets fetishism, Thierry Mugler’s designs have always stood out among his peers. His ability to craft garments that feel all at once relevant and yet still futuristic almost 30 years after their creation is impressive to say the least. This week, we take a look back on his career and most memorable shows - and there were a lot to choose from. We also take a look at what he’s been up to lately, #Muglarized. Plus in Style Snacks, Gucci gives us a talk show, Kris Van Assche is out at Berluti, Burberry and Balenciaga show their Fall 21 collections and we get our first look at the Halston Netflix limited series. www.runwaywalkscurrenttalks.com https://www.instagram.com/runwaywalkscurrenttalks/ https://twitter.com/RunwayTalks https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCW7W32h_5l7nnlrL1vazjlw/featured

Episode 118: Who’s Buying Brands and What Do You Do With Them?
Luxury conglomerates are commonplace now, but back in the 1980’s the idea was laughable. Why would you amass so many brands under one umbrella? What benefit could that possibly serve? Well if you’re Bernard Arnault or Francois Pinault, I’d say the benefits (or profits rather) have been sizeable to say the least. This week we take a look at what you should do when you buy (or relaunch) a brand and the luxury powerhouses behind some of the biggest acquisitions. Plus in Style Snacks, we chat about Bill Nye the Fashion Adviser Guy, The Met Gala’s new theme, Burberry’s Royal Warrant, Celine and Dior’s latest shows and Gucci’s 100 year blowout collection. www.runwaywalkscurrenttalks.com https://www.instagram.com/runwaywalkscurrenttalks/ https://twitter.com/RunwayTalks https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCW7W32h_5l7nnlrL1vazjlw/featured

Episode 117: We All Have Worn Stories
What does your favorite piece of clothing mean to you? What memories does it invoke? Has it become more than just clothing? Netflix’s new series Worn Stories, based on the book by Emily Spivack, explores just that. Organized by themes, the show takes a look at people’s deep connection to what they wear. This week we reflect on the series and our own Worn Stories. Listen in to hear what we consider to be the most meaningful piece in our closets and how it ended up there. Plus in Style Snacks, we say goodbye to Prince Phillip, hello to Anya Hindmarch’s new village, nice job to Will.I.Am’s new hi tech mask and thank goodness for the return of the Met Gala. www.runwaywalkscurrenttalks.com https://www.instagram.com/runwaywalkscurrenttalks/ https://twitter.com/RunwayTalks https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCW7W32h_5l7nnlrL1vazjlw/featured

Episode 116: XOXO, Gossip Girl’s Closet
Hey Upper East Siders, we’re calling all Gossip Girl fans to join us this week as we take a look back at some of the show’s most memorable looks and the lasting impact of the now iconic show. Few other shows have captured a character’s essence as well as this show did. I mean, you say Blair Waldorf and you immediately think headband. Chuck Bass? Velvet blazer and cravat. Serena van der Woodsen? Boho chic jetsetter. We also muse on what to expect from the reboot and designers we need to see on the cast. Plus in Style Snacks, Jacquemus hosted a flower pop up shop in Paris, Lady Gaga pairs up with Dom Perignon, Italian brands are pitching in on the vaccine campaign, Revolve will sell you a vaccine ready shirt, shakeups at Ferragamo and Bottega Veneta is releasing a quarterly digital journal. www.runwaywalkscurrenttalks.com https://www.instagram.com/runwaywalkscurrenttalks/ https://twitter.com/RunwayTalks https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCW7W32h_5l7nnlrL1vazjlw/featured

Episode 115: Happy Birthday to… well… Us!
It’s our birthday episode! After a year of lockdown, we tentatively decided to venture out into the real world for some in person shopping. Of course, we made sure to do so in a responsible manner complete with double masks and an appointment to avoid overcrowding. Our first (and only) stop was Mod + Jo, a boutique jewelry company with their only brick and motor store in Dallas’s Bishop Arts District. Listen in to hear our experience and personal picks, including Liz’s permanent addition. We also reflect on what it means to enter your 30’s and how our personal styles have evolved over the years. Hint, it’s all about becoming comfortable in your own skin. Cheers to another year!https://www.modandjo.comwww.runwaywalkscurrenttalks.com https://www.instagram.com/runwaywalkscurrenttalks/ https://twitter.com/RunwayTalks https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCW7W32h_5l7nnlrL1vazjlw/featured

Episode 114: What’s in the News?
With another busy fashion month behind us, we wanted to take a minute to catch up on some Style Snacks. First, we reflect on the incredible career and loss of Elsa Peretti, legendary Tiffany jewelry designer. We also discuss the controversial hiring and eventual firing of Alexi McCammond at Teen Vogue. In more positive news, Anouck Duranteau-Loeper was named the head of the Chambre Syndicale de la Mode Féminine, the governing body of women’s fashion in France. Then it’s time for designer news! Gucci announces their next show and sells digital sneakers. Yes, that’s really a thing. Hermes and Stella McCartney look to fungus for materials. Then a whole bunch of brands do a whole bunch of collabs, Paris Hilton and Brad Pitt star in (separate) ad campaigns and Vogue releases the top accessory trends for Fall 2021. And because we couldn’t resist, who’s curious in drunk shopping? Well apparently a lot of people are because it is a $26 billion habit. www.runwaywalkscurrenttalks.com https://www.instagram.com/runwaywalkscurrenttalks/ https://twitter.com/RunwayTalks https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCW7W32h_5l7nnlrL1vazjlw/featured

Episode 113: GOC Paris and Parkas?
Hello ski vibes! A seemingly unlikely combo, we saw a ton of ski lodge, parka vibes coming out of Paris this Fall. But luckily it was balanced with the city’s usual level of aloof chicness, so thank goodness for that. Listen in to hear how our brackets shaped up with our final six pics, Each x Other, Elie Saab, Louis Vuitton, Dawei Studio, Courreges and Miu Miu. We also discuss Thom Browne, Dior, Chanel, Schiaparelli and Givenchy. Then in Style Snacks, we unpack the Meghan and Harry interview, LVMH is the most valuable European company now, Exor buys a piece of Christian Louboutin and House of Gucci looks AMAZING!www.runwaywalkscurrenttalks.com https://www.instagram.com/runwaywalkscurrenttalks/ https://twitter.com/RunwayTalks https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCW7W32h_5l7nnlrL1vazjlw/featured

Episode 112: GOC Why is Milan Always Like This?
Why is it that Milan is always where things fall apart? This season was no different with our first no score show of the season. It wasn’t all rough going though. Listen in to hear the winners and losers for our picks: Drome, Alabama Muse, Marco Rambaldi, MSGM, OOF Wear and mooRER. And we’re finally able to round out New York with Alejandra Alonso Rojas. Plus in Style Snacks, we dissect the Andre Leon Talley house drama, talk all things acquisition with OTB buying Jil Sander, Kering taking a stake in Vestaire Collective and LVMH acquiring half of Jay Z’s champagne Ace of Spades and hit on some of this week’s show highlights. www.runwaywalkscurrenttalks.com https://www.instagram.com/runwaywalkscurrenttalks/ https://twitter.com/RunwayTalks https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCW7W32h_5l7nnlrL1vazjlw/featured

Episode 111: GOC London Ones to Watch
London was probably our biggest wildcard this season as both our brackets were stacked with unfamiliar designers. Lucky for us, our picks served up some surprisingly fun, quirky and want to wear now looks. Listen in to hear our reviews for JORDANLUCA, Jamie Wei Huang, A.W.A.K.E Mode, Edward Crutchley and 16Arlington. And we have to give a special callout to Lupe Gajardo for serving up the funniest digital presentation we’ve ever seen. Seriously, it’s the perfect antidote to an industry that can take itself a little too seriously at times. We also jump back to New York for a quick look at Christian Siriano’s in person event. In our show centered Style Snacks, we take a look at Kim Jones first Fendi presentation, Khaite, Roksanda and Prada. www.runwaywalkscurrenttalks.com https://www.instagram.com/runwaywalkscurrenttalks/ https://twitter.com/RunwayTalks https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCW7W32h_5l7nnlrL1vazjlw/featured

Episode 110: GOC New York Starts Strong
Not even a country wide winter storm could stop the kickoff of Fashion Month! And thank goodness because we all needed something good. New York didn’t disappoint with Proenza Schouler acting as a particularly bright spot and Jason Wu giving us some covet worthy coats. Rebecca Minkoff was consistent offering her usual easy to wear dresses and bags, but this time with vegan leather options. This week’s Style Snacks is entertainment jam packed with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s pregnancy announcement, Kim and Kanye’s divorce, the SATC reboot missing even more key characters and the Cruella movie trailer drop. Not to worry, some fashion news happened too – John Legend x Sperry debuts, Alexander McQueen becomes the first in Vestaire Collective’s “Brand Approved” program and a fashion exhibit is actually happening in real life in Paris. www.runwaywalkscurrenttalks.com https://www.instagram.com/runwaywalkscurrenttalks/ https://twitter.com/RunwayTalks https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCW7W32h_5l7nnlrL1vazjlw/featured

Episode 109: GOC Returns with Surprising Picks!
The gang’s all here! Mike and Nick join Whitney and Liz this week to help pick designers for the next Game of Clothes. This season will be completely random and up to fate as Nick and Mike draw designers at random for the brackets. Listen in to see who Liz and Whitney will have for each city! Plus in Style Snacks, the SATC Samantha debate continues (and Nick is surprisingly invested in the outcome) and LVMH and Rihanna hit the pause button on Fenty RTW.www.runwaywalkscurrenttalks.com https://www.instagram.com/runwaywalkscurrenttalks/ https://twitter.com/RunwayTalks https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCW7W32h_5l7nnlrL1vazjlw/featured

Episode 108: Sex and the City, a Return to Fashion Familiarity?
More than 15 years after the last episode’s air date, SATC is making a return to the small screen. Is it necessary? How will the characters deal with a drastically different New York? What will they be discussing now? Fashion? Sustainability? Social media? Social distancing? And just what are they going to do with the whole Samantha situation? So many questions… and so much fun to speculate. This week we jump into some of the biggest questions surrounding the show’s reboot as well as take a look back at the ground breaking fashion of the original. It’s safe to say that the show inspired a generation of women, ourselves included. Listen in to hear what the original meant to us and what we hope to see the characters wearing this time around. Plus in Style Snacks, Alaia has a new Creative Director, Martin Margiela’s art show has been postponed, Erdem launches bridal and NYFW is no more. www.runwaywalkscurrenttalks.com https://www.instagram.com/runwaywalkscurrenttalks/ https://twitter.com/RunwayTalks https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCW7W32h_5l7nnlrL1vazjlw/featured

Episode 107: The New Haute Couture
It’s HC week again! And while we’re still missing in person shows, designers found ways to wow us all the same. This week we take a look at the highlights from the HC Masters - Chanel, Dior, Fendi and Giambattista Valli. And while those shows were consistently good, it was really the new wave that impressed us this week. Exciting looks from Schiaparelli’s Daniel Roseberry stole the week, along with Alber Elbaz’s debut of AZ Factory’s first three projects and Area’s crystal and sculptural feats. Iris Van Herpen and Valentino also excited us with their ability to continually evolve their known aesthetics into something fresh. www.runwaywalkscurrenttalks.com https://www.instagram.com/runwaywalkscurrenttalks/ https://twitter.com/RunwayTalks https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCW7W32h_5l7nnlrL1vazjlw/featured

Episode 106: Carolina Herrera’s White Shirts and Life Lessons
Stylish, elegant and glamourous – three words that immediately come to mind when thinking of Carolina Herrera. Also synonymous with Herrera, crisp white shirts. Lots and lots of them. This week, we take a look at the incredibly fashionable life and career of a woman who redefined American elegance. We also explore the exciting new chapter of the brand under Wes Gordon and why the pairing works so well. Plus in Style Snacks, inauguration fashion gave us something to believe in, Kamala’s digital cover is hitting newsstands, Louis Vuitton and Prada gave us some serious men’s fashion, Liz shares a new Instagram obsession and Saint Laurent’s digital shows have the views to prove the brand knows how to hold an online show. www.runwaywalkscurrenttalks.com https://www.instagram.com/runwaywalkscurrenttalks/ https://twitter.com/RunwayTalks https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCW7W32h_5l7nnlrL1vazjlw/featured

Episode 105: Virtual Red Carpets and Styling
We’ve all come to terms with the fact that things are going to be digital for a while longer. And I think we can all agree that we’re over sweatpants and in need of a little glamour. So this week we’re taking a look at virtual red carpets and online styling. Celebrities and stylists are capitalizing on this moment to break out of traditional styling expectations, instead opting for some surprising choices for film premieres and award shows. But the fun isn’t isolated to celebrities, stylists are offering online classes and private sessions for those looking to up their Zoom game. In Style Snacks, we take a look at the Kamala Harris Vogue cover controversy, the Row’s online inspiration sample sale, Barney’s at Saks and the SATC reboot. Oh and did we mention the luxury import tax didn’t go into effect? Episode 104: John Galliano and a Complicated Legacy
Well, this was not how 2021 was supposed to start. Riots at the Capitol have cast a dark shadow on the new year and their impact will last long into the future. Not dissimilarly is the matter of this week’s main story, John Galliano and his complicated legacy. Galliano quickly rose to fame first through his own label, Givenchy and finally Dior. During his tenure at Dior, the company became a billion-dollar success and he was at the pinnacle of superstar designer status. That all changed after an Anti-Semitic rant at a Paris café in 2011. Galliano entered rehab claiming that substance abuse and work related stress contributed to his break. He reemerged on the fashion scene two years later after much atonement. Now at Maison Margiela, Galliano routinely receives praise for his collections. His talent is still supreme, but not all can forgive so easily. Listen in to hear our thoughts. Plus in Style Snacks, Kim and Kanye are supposedly headed for divorce, Paris Fashion Week will be audience free, Jonathan Anderson’s Loewe x My Neighbor Totoro gives us something to smile about, Lindsay People’s Wagner is headed to The Cut and Bottega Veneta disappeared from social media. www.runwaywalkscurrenttalks.com https://www.instagram.com/runwaywalkscurrenttalks/ https://twitter.com/RunwayTalks https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCW7W32h_5l7nnlrL1vazjlw/featured

Episode 103: 2021 Style Snack Kickoff
Welcome to 2021! And while we may have taken off a couple of weeks for the holidays, fashion news did not. This week we catch up on everything that happened during break and in true 2020 fashion it was anything but dull. First up, we remember Pierre Cardin and Stella Tennant who both passed prior to the new year. Next, Conde Nast is making moves with Anna Wintour’s promotion to Chief Content Officer and Vogue’s announcement of a new fashion news show. Saint Laurent’s Summer 21 collection was… well… the location provided quite a few logistical questions. The LVMH and Tiffany merger is finally drawing to close. Then, Alexander Wang responds to sexual assault allegations. And finally, Martin Margiela will be showing his art for the first time in a Paris exhibit and Pat McGrath was awarded the title of Dame of the British Empire. Episode 102: (Virtual) Holiday Styling
While this year might look a little different in terms of holiday parties, that doesn’t mean that holiday styling is any less important. This week we review potential options for everything from Holiday Work Parties to Christmas Eve to New Year’s. And the most important rule this season? Dress to bring yourself joy. Dress up, dress down, just make sure you have fun with it! Then in Style Snacks, Louis Vuitton has a last minute gift idea that will run you 60k, the Colette documentary is out in time for holiday viewing, Gabriella Hearst officially takes over at Chloe, the Balenciaga video game is catching some flack, Bottega Veneta is releasing a film for their SS 21 collection as will Saint Laurent for their Summer 21 collection and Burberry is giving back to fashion students in the UK. www.runwaywalkscurrenttalks.com https://www.instagram.com/runwaywalkscurrenttalks/ https://twitter.com/RunwayTalks https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCW7W32h_5l7nnlrL1vazjlw/featured

Episode 101: Princess Diana, Royal Rulebreaker
Like everyone else, we’ve binged Season 4 of The Crown and our interest in Princess Diana’s style has been reignited. From her early countryside looks to the sexy post-divorce dresses, Princess Diana developed a distinct style and often used her clothes to speak for her when she could not otherwise. This week we take a look back at her rise to royalty, style evolution and most famous looks. It’s no surprise that we’re still taking fashion cues from her. Plus in Style Snacks, The Fashion Awards take a different approach this year, Chanel staged a show for Kristen Stewart, Givenchy released Matthew Williams first collection early and Natacha Ramsay-Levi steps down from her role at Chloe. www.runwaywalkscurrenttalks.com https://www.instagram.com/runwaywalkscurrenttalks/ https://twitter.com/RunwayTalks https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCW7W32h_5l7nnlrL1vazjlw/featured

Episode 99: Liz & Missy, Life After Ralph Lauren
To finish out our Liz & Friends series, Host Liz invited special-guest Missy to discuss the corporate fashion world and the importance of networking. Liz and Missy met on a whim while working at Ralph Lauren together. Liz was sent on a work trip to New Orleans organized by Missy where they quickly became good friends. Even though Liz lives in Oklahoma now, every time she is in NYC she has to see Missy for a catch-up over martinis. Missy is a force in fashion and, most recently, the tech world. You will hear her talk about career highlights at Ralph Lauren, the realities of a lay off, how to maneuver being an entrepreneur and her famous elevator-pitch tip. Episode 97: Liz & Rosie, Arizona Living and Mask Fashion
On the second special-guest episode this month, Liz is joined by Rosie. While they live in different states now, Liz and Rosie attended college together at the University of Oklahoma and, upon graduation, both moved to New York City. Even though college brought them together it’s safe to say that theatre has kept them friends all these years. We take a walk down memory lane with stories of avoiding studying during finals week, London shenanigans and what Liz describes as one of her greatest fashion moments. Rosie is currently residing in Arizona where the fashion is oh so different than that of New York City. You’ll also hear a little discussion on the election madness and a few of our top mask recommendations—for fashion and comfort! With Whitney being out of office this month, Liz is joined by long-time friend Marisha in the first of four special-guest episodes. Marisha and Liz have been friends for years; bonding over Oklahoma football, a love of white wine and, naturally, fashion. In this episode Marisha talks about what it has been like to plan her wedding in the time of Covid. Episode 95: Pre-Orders Are A Thing
The concept is simple. If you like something, you place an order in advance. Makes sense, right? Well that might be easier said than done in our next day delivery obsessed world. But a number of luxury and independent brands are proving that this model can work and that customers actually prefer waiting for that coveted item. Join us this week as we discuss the benefits to the Pre-Order model, who’s winning with this, potential challenges and how brands need to communicate in order to be successful. In Style Snacks, we also explore Dryce Lahassan’s new venture: a Parisian boutique selling a single trench coat. Tres interessant, non? Finally, this will be Whitney’s last episode for a few weeks. Liz will be taking the reins while Whitney attempts to adjust to this whole “Mom” thing. Crazy! Episode 94: Psykhe, Psychology Meets Algorhythmic Shopping
Let’s start off by saying this isn’t a sponsored post. We really just wanted to try this because we were curious. Now that that’s out of the way - There’s a new shopping platform that is taking your personality and psychology into account in order to offer a curated selection of items that it predicts you’ll like. Sound like just another Style Quiz? That’s what we thought, too. But Psykhe really does go beyond traditional fashion questions using the Big Five Test to measure key components of your psychology. After completing a 30-ish questionnaire, it ranks your personality on a scale of 1-100 in categories like Openness, Extroversion and Agreeableness and then assigns fashion characteristics along with it. Can you guess who’s more Conscientious between Liz and Whitney? More Neurotic? Listen in to hear our results and if their style picks meet our standards. https://www.psykhefashion.com www.runwaywalkscurrenttalks.com https://www.instagram.com/runwaywalkscurrenttalks/ https://twitter.com/RunwayTalks https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCW7W32h_5l7nnlrL1vazjlw/featured

Episode 93: Game of Clothes, Paris Spring Summer 2021
Who will wear the crown? Listen in for the Paris conclusion of this season’s GOC. Chanel opted for a big blockbuster, while Loewe was equally as effective with their interactive show in a box. Maison Margiela offered a welcome mix of behind the scenes inspiration for the collection and insight into house codes via their 45 minute movie. Cecile Bahnsen kept is safe (and beautiful) and Natacha Ramsay-Levi had one of her strongest showings at Chloe. We wish we could say the same for Matthew William’s debut at Givenchy. We tried to like it; we really did. But alas, no. Just no. In Style Snacks, Kenzo Takada passed away from Covid complications, Justin. Bieber designed a pair of Crocs (yes, you read that correctly), Dries Van Noten is opening a LA store, Chanel is partnering with Sunrun to provide solar power to low income families and a new Karl Lagerfeld biography is out with some surprising new information. www.runwaywalkscurrenttalks.com https://www.instagram.com/runwaywalkscurrenttalks/ https://twitter.com/RunwayTalks https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCW7W32h_5l7nnlrL1vazjlw/featured

Episode 92: Game of Clothes, Milan Spring Summer 2021
Milan is up and it’s time for the big Prada Raf Simons debut! Did it live up to Liz’s expectations? Listen in to find out. One thing’s for sure, Valentino hit all the right notes finally capturing some of the Haute Couture magic in RTW. We also compare some surprisingly high scores for Ferragamo, Fendi, Giorgio Armani and Etro. Plus, we have to circle back to J.W. Anderson’s delayed debut and Carolina Herrera’s surprise drop. Then in Style Snacks, Alexandra Zarini, Gucci Heir, files a lawsuit against her stepfather, mother and grandmother, Victoria Beckham is bringing “Posh” back, North Face is collabing with Gucci, Savage x Fenty was a SPECTACLE to say the least and Moschino brought some joy with their puppet runway show. www.runwaywalkscurrenttalks.com https://www.instagram.com/runwaywalkscurrenttalks/ https://twitter.com/RunwayTalks https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCW7W32h_5l7nnlrL1vazjlw/featured

Episode 91: Game of Clothes, London Spring Summer 2021
Can you just be whelmed? That’s kinda how we felt for this season’s London shows. Solid performances, nothing surprising. As for Whitney’s picks… This proved to be Tisci’s most consistent Burberry collection to date. Phoebe English picked up acorns on her way to work to use as dye for the collection (which let’s be honest, was probably the coolest design detail to come out of London). And Erdem showed a very Erdem collection (although the slouchy sweaters were a nice, new touch). Despite a lack of coverage, Liz’s picks were still committed to showing their collections on their own terms. Daniel W. Fletcher walked through the collection at his Soho store detailing inspiration, favorite pieces and even fielding questions from social media. A+ for relatability. Mark Fast showed an 80’s inspired, uplifting show at the Hackney Bus Depot. And we’re still waiting on J.W. Anderson… In Style Snacks, we say goodbye to RBG, LVMH and Tiffany are still at it, Savage x Fenty launches menswear, Kenzo partners with WWF to help save the tigers and a documentary chronicling Jean Paul Gaultier’s last show is hopefully going to make its way to a streaming site soon. www.runwaywalkscurrenttalks.com https://www.instagram.com/runwaywalkscurrenttalks/ https://twitter.com/RunwayTalks https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCW7W32h_5l7nnlrL1vazjlw/featured
