Sagas of Bharat

Pre-Islamic Bharat was a land of empire builders. Even though we had multiple different empires vying for supremacy, the common thread in entire Bharat was the unifying culture of Hinduism. This episode focuses on one of the towering figures in Bharatiya history - Raja Raja Chola. Viewed through the twists and turns of his times, come witness the story of how Bharat's great monarch expanded from a little strip of land in Southern Bharat to an empire that at its height comprised of entire South Bharat, Sri Lanka and parts of Indo China.

There is a myth spread around in Indian history books - Mughals were great and invincible. Today I will take you to the mystical land of Assam where a great general defeated them not once but seventeen times. We will see how CEO level thinking and Vietnam level defense discipline led the Mughal general to say: "Anyone who comes to war against Ahoms, must be thrashed by a broomstick".

What if India became Bharat in 1915? What if Bharat had it's own version of French revolution? This episode is a story of a man who almost made it happen. Find out how an ordinary man with a heart of a lion and cunning of a snake nearly outsmarted British in an effort to rid them from his motherland. Chattrapati Shivaji was one of the greatest Bharatiya kings. He carved out a Hindu empire through sheer will, tactical acumen and great statesmanship. It was destined to be one of the largest pan-Indian empires to exist before British. In this episode, we look at the early life and formative years of Shivaji Maharaj. We will also see examples of strategic brilliance in his early conquests. Finally, we will witness the founding event of the Maratha Empire through the eyes of a guard stationed outside Afzal Khan's tent on November 10, 1659.
