Ep 12 - Trying to Find a Job Without Losing My Mind
In 2021, Sálvenme del Primer Mundo was born out of unemployment. And somehow… here we are again. 🙃This time, we’re talking endless applications, rejection, corporate ghosting, ridiculous job descriptions, and salaries that sound like bad jokes, why LinkedIn is so toxic and red flags while looking for a job.But honestly? Job hunting messes with your head.Sometimes I get tired of being my own cheerleader. Tired of trying to stay positive and pretend everything is fine when, well… it isn’t.Because being unemployed can make you question your career, your choices, and sometimes even your sense of self.So if you’re job hunting, rethinking your career, or just trying not to lose your mind while doing it:No, seriously. You’re not alone.----The ‘Reach In, Reach Out’ podcast series aims to encourage understanding around the complexities of suicide, reduce stigma surrounding the topic and spark meaningful conversations. Here is the link to the suicide prevention podcast :) >> https://www.iasp.info/podcast/

EP 10 - Why Do We Buy Souvenirs When We Travel?
Why do we bring souvenirs home from every trip? 🧳A fridge magnet we didn’t need. A ceramic plate we definitely didn’t have room for, colorful patches for a denim jacket or postcards we will never send anyway. But maybe we’re not really buying things, maybe we’re buying a way to remember.Historian Valentin Groebner has explored our relationship with the things we choose to keep and the memories we attach to them. And the more I thought about it, the more I started wondering why we feel the need to bring physical pieces of places home with us in the first place. In this episode, I’m going down the rabbit hole of why we bring pieces of the places we visit back home and how objects can become little memory triggers years after a trip is over. But then I realized I do something completely different when I travel between Mexico and Germany. When I go to Mexico, I come back with my suitcase full of Mexican decorations from La Ciudadela because I want little pieces of where I come from in my German home. And when I go from Germany to Mexico, I bring my family cookies, candy and random supermarket things, not because they’re particularly special, but because they’re part of my everyday life here.Because sometimes I’m not bringing them a souvenir.I’m bringing them my Thursday. And maybe that’s what happens when you live far away from home: you start carrying pieces of different places, different versions of yourself, and different lives with you.So… are we collecting souvenirs, memories, or pieces of ourselves?

EP 08 - Music didn´t change, we did!
Have you ever listened to a song you've known for years and suddenly heard it differently? In this episode, we're talking about how music grows with us or maybe how we grow into it. How discovering genres like soul can suddenly change the way you remember entire chapters of your life. How lyrics hit differently with time. And how an artist you never quite understood can one day make perfect sense. From teenage anthems to an unexpected encounter with Bruce Springsteen, this is a conversation about nostalgia, change, and the strange way music becomes a time machine, a mirror, or a friend exactly when we need it.Because maybe music never changed.Maybe we did.

EP 07 - Enferma, otra vez

Was vermisse ich eigentlich an Mexiko?

EP 05 - Summer finally! (Or so we thought!)
Summer, finally… or so we thought! One week you’re convinced it’s here: the sun is out, people are outside, plans are being made, and for a brief moment life feels almost suspiciously good. And then, just like that, it’s gone. You literally peek out the window thinking “okay, still summer”… and five minutes later it’s raining, slightly humid, slightly dramatic, and somehow emotionally personal. If you’ve ever had your entire summer mood change faster than you can decide what to wear… this one’s for you.Welcome to Germany, where summer doesn’t arrive, it gets trialed, approved, and then abruptly cancelled like a subscription you forgot to renew. 😅In this episode, we’re talking about:🌤️ The emotional rollercoaster of “fake summer” in Europe📱 Weather apps that gaslight you on a weekly basis🇲🇽➡️🇩🇪 And yes… I somehow ended up talking about mexican snacks again. Fern being Fern. 🥭 The deep philosophy of eating fruit with chili flakes and how this topic quietly turns into a full podcast category.🎸 Plus: a summer playlist moment with a touch of pop punk nostalgia… and yes, Taylor Swift makes an appearance because of course she does.Follow us on Instagram for more chaos, memes, behind-the-scenes moments, and the kind of thoughts we probably shouldn’t say out loud but do anyway 😌👉 @SALVENMEDEL1MUNDO And don’t forget to subscribe here so you don’t miss new episodes, same emotional damage, different weather forecast every week 🌤️This podcast has episodes in spanish, english and german!

Follow us:https://www.instagram.com/salvenmedel1mundo

EP 02 - Fluent in starting over
Ten years in Germany later…I recycle correctly, fear paperwork professionally, and can panic in three languages now.In this episode of Sálvenme del primer mundo, we talk about immigration, identity, loneliness abroad, German bureaucracy, emotional burnout, and the strange experience of becoming a different version of yourself just to survive. But this episode is also about healing.About choosing yourself.About finding comfort in small moments: vinyl records, swimming pools, Taylor Swift, conversations that feel like home, and songs that somehow keep you together at 3 a.m.A funny, vulnerable, and honest episode for every immigrant, expat, or emotionally tired person trying to figure life out far away from home.

EP 01 - Escucharme fue el verdadero comeback
Hey he vuelto!!
