Semantics Dept

How We Got HereEver since they met in the early 2000s, Dan, John-Paul, and Keith have had a shared love of music, design, art, tech, and, well, having opinions. Sometimes these opinions were serious (politics) and sometimes they were ridiculous (cow tipping).Somewhere along the way, they became adults and drifted apart, geographically and metaphorically. The frankly bonkers events of 2016, though, kicked off days long arguments that eventually became a long running text thread of constant ribbing, trolling, and I told you so.The Semantics Dept is a podcast hosted by three friends who can never quite accept that they agree most of the time. Not all the time, as listeners will find out if they dare to get to know these ding dongs.

  1. 12

    Fishes and Heels

Noise for supper, school assignments are stressful, and discussing how modern internet culture has become professional wrestling.

  2. 11

    The Arc of the Scam

JP gets scammed, Keith gets beaned, 3 body-ody-ody-ody-ody-ody problems       Activity

  3. 10

    The Meme Circle of Life

Chicago is nice, but why is everyone filming? Maybe they are investigators. Now I'm livin' out here on the beach, but those seagulls are still out of reach. Wait, what happened to my plate? Oh joy, it’s more Elon talk.

  4. 9

    Dowsing for Sandworms

Some of us awaken the sleeper, some of us tell food industry stories, then we dowse for water and cows.

  5. 8

    Murky Calendars, Murky Canadians

How do calendars work? We merk some Republican talking points and tell some drunk history about Canadians getting merked.

  6. 7

    The Chamber of Knots

Charismatic knots, why camping sucks, talking about another podcast again, and asking if prompts can be creativity.

  7. 6

Do Sigmas Dream of Nuclear Unicorns?

Oppenheimer rants, Bladerunner derails, Old men yell at clouds.

  8. 5

    The Transmutation of Salt

In which we mostly talk about another podcast, relate an alchemical miracle, and revisit a previous topic to exhaustion.

  9. 4

    Good and Evil and Whatever

Trying to sort out being an ethical consumer and the depiction of emo villains and boring heroes.

  10. 3

    Warboys Don’t Cry

Witness all three of us shiny and chrome on the Fury Road. Mediocre!

  11. 2

    Cults or Culture

We talk about the ethics of AI, its impact on culture, and sort of find out what TESCREAL is before talking about kids these days.

  12. 1

    Furious First Episode

While getting comfortable with microphones we discuss a few topics such as AI and why Dan refuses to see Fury Road.
