Guest: Logon Collins / Why Technical Coaching Keeps Players From Reaching the Next Level

Guest: Logon Collins / Why Technical Coaching Keeps Players From Reaching the Next LevelGuest: Logon Colins / The Real D1 Barrier: Why Technical Coaching Keeps Players From Reaching the Next Level...-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Bio:At the Academy I was apart of we had 8 guys go off to play division 1 and it brought a lot of national attention to the academy. Now the academy is a USPTA regional training center thanks to our success. Only like 3-4 of the guys in the group actually saw material playing time in the line up, but still…pretty cool feat for little ol Tulsa, OK!Since my class, the academy has churned out players even better than my group. It was a fun, stressful time. All of us were fighting for the same attention from college coaches so things go toxic at times. The Tucker academy was great for my foundation, but my late success I attribute to a quirky coach I randomly got connected with through a friend. I skyrocket from 150 in the Missouri valley to top 5 or top 10 back in boys 14s. Had a lot of success then started growing and had tons of injuries. I couldn’t find a coach that could take me to the next level so I struggled to improve as the same pace for years. I found this quirky coach in April of my senior year. I had him for a short time before leaving college but revolutionized the way I played the game and the way I now coach. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Stats: Tulsa, OK NativeUnion High School Hall of Fame Inductee Top 100 in the nation in juniorsFinished 2nd in Missouri Valley in final summer of Boy’s 18sPlayed 4 years at Marquette University (Division 1) in the Big EAST Conference from 2010-2014Played 2 and 3 singles at Marquette UniversityPlayed 2 doubles at Marquette UniversityDuring my Senior year, some of my singles wins include victories against #19 Boise State and #40 Denver University
