Point guard Bryan Urrutia banked in the go-ahead basket with seven seconds to go as the University of Maryland Eastern Shore men's basketball team defeated the South Carolina State University Bulldogs 63-61 on Saturday (Feb. 2) inside the William P. Hytche Athletic Center.

The University of Maryland Eastern Shore grabbed its fifth straight victory on Saturday (Feb. 2) against South Carolina State.  The Hawks held the Bulldogs to just five points in the first quarter and 16 in the first half. They won going away in the second half, 63-43, behind career nights by Ciani Byrom and Bairesha Gill-Miles.

The University of Maryland Eastern Shore used a smothering defense and to punish Florida A&M University in the first half — soaring to a 38-13 lead at the break Saturday (Jan. 19) at the Lawson Center. When it was all said and done the Hawks (8-10, 4-1 MEAC) had run away with a 68-36 victory.
