This book deals with the main character navigating grief after her best friend is killed by a hit and run accident.     Happy new year from Sibling Library! In this chapter we look back at our year of reading in 2025 thanks to Goodreads. We also remember Sophie Kinsella after the announcement of her passing and give our thoughts on the movie adaptation of the The Housemaid by Freida McFadden.

We read the first in this series as well as talk about the 2019 movie adaptation of the same name.     In this chapter we give some appreciation to the movie and the book of the same name: The Neverending Story by Michael Ende. Despite this being one of our collective favorite childhood movie, none of us had ever read the book and decided to rectify this while also celebrating the 40th anniversary of the 1984 movie classic.     In this chapter, we discuss all things Anne of Green Gables including a trip report to Anne country on Prince Edward Island in Canada. We also revisit the Eyes and the Impossible with a review of a book signing with the author Dave Eggers and illustrator Shawn Harris. We also give you a warning to get ready to read and watch The Never Ending Story for our August episode to celebrate the movie turning 40.

    In our continuation of murder, mystery, May-hem we return to the world of Molly the Maid in The Mystery Guest to give our thoughts on the sequel to Nita Prose's The Maid. We also share our love and excitement for a new Nancy Drew mystery game from Her Interactive as well as talk about our picks for Frieda McFadden novels.

    In this chapter, we let you know about a newish service at the Oakland International Airport to help with your literary travel needs as well. We also dive back in to the world of Colleen Hoover's It Ends with Us with its sequel It Starts with Us. Finally, in honor of the upcoming Free Comic Book day on the first Saturday in May we give our thoughts on Jeff Lemire's Sweet Tooth and what comics we are hoping to pick up this year.

    Chapter 44 - Two Is Impossible

    Back for another fun conversation, we welcome author Emily Waters to the show to discuss her new book Two Is a Pattern from YLVA publishing. We open the show with a review of the 2024 Newbery Medal winner: The Eyes and the Impossible by Dave Eggers and get a quick review of the sequel to the 2020 Newbery Medal winner New Kid by Jerry Craft: Class Act from friend of the show, Riley. We end sharing our thoughts and frustrations with the book club app Fable as well as discuss our current selection, Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett.     This month we discuss the 2023 Goodreads Choice Award winner for historical fiction as well as debut novel: Weywardby Emilia Hart. We talk through our thoughts about the genre, the characters, the story. We go deep so be warned there are spoilers ahead if you want to read the book first and come back to this one. First, we take a ⁠quiz⁠ to learn which animal would be our familiar. We also tease a special guest for next month: ⁠Emily Waters⁠.     Welcome to another chapter of Sibling Library where we are celebrating all things books - which really are the best gift of all. We participate in our second annual Jolabokaflod as well as look back on last year's exchange. We also reflect on our year of reading and pick some best and worst reads for the year.     Chapter 32 - Matilda

    In this chapter, we revisit one of our favorite books of all time: Matilda by Roald Dahl and compare and contrast it to the new Netflix musical adaptation of the same name. We also discuss the news about new printings of Dahl's works being slightly edited for newer generations of readers. To finish, we talk about this year's Newbery Award winner: Freewater by Amina Luqman-Dawson. And we did all this the morning the Daylight Savings began, so if we sound tired - you'll know why.

We first talk about several author talks we attended: Stacy Lee who wrote The Downstairs Girl; Tom Felton (aka Draco Malfoy) who wrote his memoir: Beyond the Wand; and Mo Willems children's author of Pigeon and Elephant and Piggie fame. We are also so excited to welcome to the show, in her media debut, Emily Waters! Emily is the newly published author of Honey in the Marrow from Ylva Publishing. In this month of November we are so thankful for authors and all the characters, worlds, and creativity they bring into the world so that we may read, share, and repeat.

    Do you read banned books? We do and we wanted to share our thoughts on the subject this month. Banned Books Week, which was started in 1982, runs from September 18 through the 24, 2022 and remains an important reminder each year of how dangerous banning books can be.     Chapter 24 - Luster Bright Like a Unicorn

    It's been long awaited, but we finally did a full read through of one of our favorite series The Unicorn Chronicles by Bruce Coville. What follows in this episode is our discussion about the publishing history of the series, our thoughts about the books, as well as our casting choices for some of the characters should this series make its way to film. Our new segment, "Oh...word?" makes a return with the word Luster.  Whether you are new or returning to Coville's Unicorn Chronicles series, now is a good time to jump in because the series is being re-released (after over a decade of being out of print) in a uniformly sized paperback format that includes some new content spread out between seven books.
