Welcome to the Season 3 Finale! In this mailbag Episode, we discuss cold calls as an upperclassman, all the mandatory exams you must take to be an attorney (spoiler: its not just the bar!), whether you will be okay (3L recruiting), and more! Season Three Episode Four is co-hosted by Neha, a lovely friend and two-time clinic student. This Episode covers three different ways you can get practical experience as a law student: pro bono organizations, clinics, and externships. Law schools (and state bars) require both experiential credits and pro bono work. Regardless of the mandatory aspect of these experiences, many of us find them to be the most meaningful as well. They gets us out of the classroom and out in the world providing service.

Season Three, Episode Three discusses legal scholarship in two parts. First, we talk about journals. In law school, journals are not the classic moleskin notebooks made for self-reflection. Journals are student-run volumes of scholarship—termed "law review." Every law school has multiple law reviews, with the Law Review, being the sought-after catch-all journal. You apply to journal at some point in the latter half of 1L. You actually join journal at the start of 2L as an Executive Editor (AE) and your job is to Bluebook your assigned footnotes in three stages: source hunt, first edit, second edit. If you want to stay on journal your third year, you can either be on board performing more of a managerial role. Or, you can be a Senior Editor (SE) where your primary responsibility remains Bluebooking. Second, we talk about publishing your own article! I highly recommend supervision under a professor and seeking feedback on your work. Next, make a student Scholastica account to search and submit to journals. Season Three, Episode Two discusses how to make money in law school. Inclusive of my most creative side quests. This episode begins by talking about common student jobs. Then, it discusses what you can do in the (more limited) 1L-verse. By summer, there are many opportunities for paid positions. Finally, there are a decent number of semester-long opportunities your 2L and 3L. This includes paid student jobs at your law school.You can have a job in law school. Its not going to fund your tuition but may help pay your rent and groceries. You just have to know where to look—and I'm here to help.
