Without credentials, connections, or a college degree, a hip-hop journalist and community leader conquered her imposter syndrome while landing one of the most exclusive, sought-after, and fun positions in the White House.From, 2015 to 2017 Dyer served as the White House Social Secretary for the Obama administration. Jemele Hill is celebrating the paperback release of her memoir Uphill. Released on October 25, 2022, Hill pulled back the curtain and allowed fans to get a glimpse of what her journey has been like through her own lens. She dived deep into her childhood and shared what her experience was like growing up in an environment where both her parents were drug addicts. We also get to walk with her as she ascends to nab the most coveted position in sports journalism–a job at ESPN. Sistah Girls Book Club, we got the chance to interview Dr. Joy Harden Bradford! She is a Licensed Psychologist and the host of the wildly popular, award-winning mental health podcast Therapy for Black Girls. Her work focuses on making mental health topics more relevant and accessible for Black women, and she delights in using pop culture to illustrate psychological concepts. And now she is adding author to her resume, with her new book Sisterhood Heals: The Transformative Power of Healing in Community, Bradford offers a new way for Black women to create, maintain, and form tighter sisterhoods. 

We last spoke with author Takerra Allen in 2018 to discuss her newest series, Seasons of Fidelity. Since then she has published the three-book series in its entirety. Following that series, she released Last Stop From Innocence, (a standalone novel) and after an almost three-year break, she's back with a new novel, Needful Noore. On the eve of Allen's release, we got the chance to talk to her about her career as a Black indie author, how it feels to be back, and everything in between.
