Beneath the veil: Guest Kuda Rice

I had a great time catching up with Kuda Rice in this fun and insightful episode. Titled after his first EP this is an ode to young Kuda Rice as a testament that life is not always what we see in the now. Kuda Rice is a Zimbabwean writer, storyteller and performance artist. His storytelling is mainly portrayed through poetry and spoken word which has also transformed to not only be expressed through words, but also through visuals and fashion. At his core is the need to tell his inner truths and experiences as well as external truths and other people’s experiences of the different spheres of life.We dove into his journey growing up, explored the twists and turns of his creative path, and unpacked what truly sets him apart as a young creative. From honest reflections to moments of vulnerability and lighthearted moments, this conversation reveals what makes Kuda so relatable and why so many people find it easy to connect with Kuda. Conman 101

This episode plunges into the dark alleys of unimaginable stories, getting to the heart of those shocking adventures I have had and never thought I would survive. When life throws me into the deep end, simply assuming I'll swim—when it's truly sink or swim—this is about that desperate floundering, arms and legs thrashing in all directions, no strategy, just pure survival instinct! The juxtaposition of real life stories of danger, laughter and the drama that unknown fears introduce to the script of my life. Highlighting why it’s important to never go it alone but rather go with a friend who is closer than a brother.

Passover & Easter : Fun Times!

If you are a keen and curious mind like me you will enjoy this! In this episode I dive into a fascinating topic for me : Passover and Easter.I talk about one of the most popular and meaningful Jewish holidays, Passover and Easter the same for Christians. This year these events coincide!Although, Passover and Easter couldn’t be more different from each other in the foods, rituals, and traditions that surround each holiday. But, surprisingly, the seasonal overlap between these two holidays is no accident. Unlike the overlap between Hanukkah and Christmas, which is basically coincidental, Passover and Easter are intimately linked. This episode is a passionate talk around conversations I have been having in the last week. Let's talk Trans-Atlantic Slave trade or was it trafficking?

I visited the historic Cape Coast Slave Castle and had the remarkable Justice K. Acquah as our tour guide. He absolutely does Justice to the tour and his passion is undeniable. He has been a tour guide at the Cape Coast for over a decade and some. This experience was very evocative for me, I found myself teetering between weeping, a feeling of asphyxiation and nausea at some point at the gruesome reality of what took place here. I share this talk because by the time we left I was able to see what lessons to take from the time we spent in the castle and I hope you will be provoked into some hard questions and conversations. The building struck me as a little girl trying to keep up appearances, its whitewashed exterior a facade of innocence. As I entered, the stark contrast between light and dark hit me with visceral force. The male slave dungeon, hidden beneath the pristine surface, was oppressively heavy, shrouded in darkness, and claustrophobically confining. The juxtaposition of the building's outward purity and its grim interior deeply haunting. Becoming the Poem: Guest Gracia Nicholls

One of those conversations that are meaningful in more ways than one because they are real, raw and authentic. Join Gracia and I in a conversation we tried to have in Uganda, failed dismally, nothing seemed to align for us in 2022 so to be able to finally do this was such a win for us both. When you listen to this episode you pick up why Gracia is a Storyteller and why she is the depiction of the term deep. She feels acutely and some of these emotions end up hanging out on pages and lounging in meaning in songs as she weaves stories that give a generation language for expressing pain that can’t be interpreted easily. Gracia Nicholls is a storyteller, who has graced national and over 10 international stages as a performer, poet and speaker. She is the founder of Bly Staan , a brand that seeks to inspire and encourage people. Angela’s story is one about confidence forming from a place of prayer for a 7year old to today stepping forth boldly on stages across the world to become all she is meant to be. Tea Alone Sometimes: Guest Peggie Shangwa

Umind?! goes solo on Sit With U for the first time and shares some of her poetry in this episode as well as opening up, taking us a step closer into her life. From the decisions she has made in her life in the areas of dating, singleness, travel and work. I guess a new year is always refreshing and proffers a new slate that is the blank canvas we all need to start afresh. Tea Alone sometimes is anecdotal, reflective, revealing and chewy in that it reveals the processing we all go through as we take the helm of the New year, the expectations we have juxtaposed against the reality of what actually happens. It’s true that some things are caught and not taught and no one can run effectively when they are lugging Suitcases. It’s from this that she shares some of the experiences and nuggets that she is carrying into 2023 assisted mostly by the lessons 2022 taught her and what she was able to apply in her life with some epic fails and wins. You will enjoy this.
