Smokingroove, originally comprising of brothers Monsafe & Marko, cut their teeth on the mid 90s London underground pirate radio scene at legendary stations including Freek FM, Unknown, House FM and quickly built a name for themselves on dancefloors across the city with their own brand of bumping Chicago-fused house music. As two wise chemically-enhanced men once said, ‘The brothers gonna work it out’ and it’s an adage that the two took to heart as they became one of the most in-demand production and DJ duos around. With over 160 releases over the last two decades, they’ve proven their ability to maintain a position in the international DJ scene. When Marko moved to Dubai in 2007, Monsafe carried on playing across Europe while Marko solidified a new base in the Middle East with the launch of a then-new 5000 capacity venue that could be seen from Space named ‘Nasimi beach’ at the Atlantis hotel on the Palm. Not only did they turn a once unremarkable patch of sand into a consistently sold
