Snapped

Welcome to the Snapped Podcast! As a South African based creative agency, we wanted to create a space where we give entrepreneurs, change-makers and youth leaders a platform to share their journeys both in business and in their own personal evolution. Our goal is to explore the practical and emotional skill sets necessary to grow in ways that would uniquely benefit us all and do so without all the "fake it till you make it" nonsense so prevalent in today's entrepreneurial landscape.

EP 4 - An NPO that doesn't want to exist in 10 years... for all the right reasons.

In this episode of the podcast, we celebrate women's month with an effervescent energy in the NPO space, Thobile Chittenden. She is the  CEO of The Makers Valley Partnership, a newly-established non-profit organisation that supports progressive and creative change-making activities in the east of Johannesburg. In Episode 4 she talks to us about her approach to helping communities and her own growth as a person. One of the striking thoughts that came across in this talk was how she views the success of an NPO in how long it takes them to make themselves redundant. Essentially saying that if they do their work well enough then there would be little need for them to exist in the current form,  which will ultimately mean they can move on to a new project and solve other challenges. Her open, honest and articulate interpretation of how she has grown as an individual, and now leader of a space such as Makers Valley, highlights so deeply how opportunity alone is not enough to succeed. Being willing to work at said opportunity is even more critical and creating that opportunity for someone else is baked into her DNA. If you would like to learn more about their approach to community-centered upliftment then have a peek at their website: https://www.makersvalley.org.za @makersvalley.jozi

EP 3 - Rebranding Yourself As An Artist

Is it possible to successfully rebrand yourself as a creative or artist if you have already invested time, energy and effort into sculpting an identity and style with regards to your craft? In the third episode of the SNAPPED podcast we to talk to someone who's done exactly that! ZULO, formally known as Lil Trix, shares his thoughts with us on how he has approached this task and how his evolution as a person has led to the need to shift his own personal brand to something more reflective of his own growth. With more than a decade of work behind him, he is no stranger to making, failing and getting up. One thing we deeply appreciate about this artist is that he is cut from something he likes to call the "DIY cloth" or "DIY culture" where if there are skills he feels he needs to push his own work, he doesn’t outsource them, he acquires the skills himself. With his catchy, approachable and highly thoughtful approach to building up his music, this rapper/writer/designer/editor/producer and nice guy is someone to really keep an eye on. http://www.zulo.co.za
