We at MergingArts spoke with Award winners from our Womanimation! 2026 Film Festival, which took place in Boston (USA). Jadwiga Ligeza, a Polish Animator based in London, won the Jury Grand Prize at the Womanimation! 2026 Film Festival for her film, Rock Song. We also spoke with duo, Emma Carre and Mathilde Parquet, French Animators who co-wrote and directed the stop-motion musical animated film, Signal. Signal won the Audience Award at the 2026 Womanimation! Film Festival and was the runner-up for the Jury Grand Prize.

Frederic is a French Sound Designer, Supervising Sound Editor, and Re-Recording Mixer whose work spans auteur cinema, international productions, and commercial features. Frederic's film credits include: A Matador's Mistress, Burnt by the Sun 2, Dias de Gracia, Day of the Falcon, Pioneer, The Amazing Catfish, Escobar: Paradise Lost, Blind Sun, City Hunter, The Informer, Last Night of Amore, Under Paris, and Marsupilami.

Taylor's work as Lead Film Editor includes the films: Night Comes On, Yellow Rose, Drunk Bus, Prisoners of the Ghostland, Mona Lisa and the Blood Moon, and Bodies Bodies Bodies. More recently, Taylor has edited the award-winning A Different Man, as well as Faces of Death and the upcoming The Last Day.

Eugenio's narrative feature film work includes: Hello Destroyer, Boundaries, When The Storm Fades, Longlegs, Heretic, This Is Tomas, The Monkey, and Eternity. His documentary work includes: Wizard Mode, Illusions Of Control, The Last Tourist, Physician Heal Thyself, and Resident Orca. Eugenio's television series work includes: The Wrestlers, Psi Cops, and The Edge Of Sleep. 

Born in Buenos Aires, Julian attended film school before starting his career in television. Switching to film, Julian started in the camera department, with roles as cinematographer for feature films, documentaries, television series, and music videos. Julian's feature film credits include: Bolivia, Chronicle of an Escape, Carancho, Ardor, The Cat Vanishes, The Clan, The Angel, Murder Me, Monster, The Crimes That Bind, and Upon Open Sky. More recently, Julian worked on the films: 27 Nights and Crazy Old Lady. 

Based in Johannesburg, Willie began his career after graduating at the top of his class at the South-African Film and Drama Academy. He started out shooting hundreds of music videos and commercials before moving into longer form storytelling. Willie's film credits include: Sleeper's Wake, Meerkat Moonship, Knuckle City, Children of the Storm, Settlers, Rise: The Siya Kolisi Story, and Don't Let's Go to the Dogs Tonight. Willie's television work includes: Hopeville, The Looming Tower, and Blood Psalms.

Gabriel's film work includes: Klaus, Automata, Veronica, Greta, While At War, La Abuela, My Loneliness Has Wings, Sister Death, My Penguin Friend, and The Wailing. Gabriel's television work includes: Criminal, La Unidad, The Girl In The Mirror, Santo, and Senna.

Leonie's feature film work includes: Dreams of a Life, What Richard Did, Jimi: All Is By My Side, Glassland, Pilgrimage, The Man Who Invented Christmas, Gretel and Hansel, Nocebo, and In the Land of Saints and Sinners. Leonie's television work includes: Moone Boy, Ripper Street, Miss Scarlet, Modern Love, and The Tourist. 

Evgenia has worked as Director, Screenwriter, Director of Photography, Camera Assistant, and Camera Operator. Born in Russia, she first studied Management at Saint Petersburg State University before pursuing a Master's Degree at ESSEC in Paris. She later turned to cinema and joined La Femis in the Cinematography department. Evgenia's feature film work includes: Mi Iubita Mon Amour, the documentary Machtat, Heartless, The Balconettes, Childfree, and more recently the Oscar-nominated film, The Secret Agent.

Tijn graduated from the Netherlands Film Academy and abides by the maxim: "you don't have to hear what you see and you don't have to see what you hear." Tijn's narrative feature films include: Nocturne, Home, Moloch, Holly, Hardcore Never Dies, Torch Song, and the acclaimed, The Secret Agent. Tijn's documentary work includes: Anbessa, A Man and A Camera, A Parked Life, Rules of War, and The Mountain Won't Move. 

Jeremy began his career working in music videos for a wide range of artists, as well as award-winning commercials globally. Jeremy's feature film work includes the films: Hard Candy, Factory Girl, I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House, My Dinner with Herve, Monster, Jungleland, Gretel and Hansel, Night Teeth, Last Looks, Breathe, Dust Bunny, and They Will Kill You.

Some of her early roles include: Production Designer for Stephen Cone's film The Wise Kids and Art Director for Greg Araki's White Bird In A Blizzard. Caity's Production Design work for television includes: Comedy Bang Bang, Documentary Now, Joe Pera Talks With You, and Caleb Hearon: Model Comedian. Her feature film work includes: Becoming Bond, Stay Awake, The Adults, and Omni Loop. More recently, Caity designed the feature film Sorry, Baby, written and directed by and starring Eva Victor. Some of Caity's upcoming projects include: The Dink, Via Negativa, and Never Change.

Ian's earlier Art Director work includes the films: Rest Stop, Twilight, and A Single Man. Ian's Production Design work in film includes: Celeste and Jesse Forever, 13 Minutes, and A Very Jonas Christmas Movie. His television Production Design work includes: Parks and Recreation, Love, The Good Place, and A Man on the Inside. 

John's feature film work as Production Designer includes: Your Sister's Sister, Touchy Feely, Lucky Them, Laggies, Sword of Trust, and Outside In. His television design work includes: Three Busy Debras, The Viking Returns, and Penelope. John's more recent Art Director work includes: Train Dreams and The Rivals of Amziah King.

Ben's feature film work includes: 127 Hours, Gravity, Ex Machina, First They Killed My Father, Bird Box, Nimona, Wonka, Speak No Evil, Civil War, Night Always Comes, and Warfare. Ben's television work includes the projects: Five Days at Memorial and The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.

In 1991, Nelson founded Sound Dogs, a studio that has since grown into Canada's premier sound editing, recording, and design company with hundreds of film and television titles to their credit. Nelson has worked with renowned directors such as Darren Aronofsky on Requiem for a Dream and Guillermo del Toro on The Shape of Water, which earned Nelson both Oscar and BAFTA nominations. Nelson's other film work includes: The Breadwinner, Dual, Priscilla, Nutcrackers, Francis Ford Coppola's Megalopolis, and Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein. 

As a child, Adam was fond of the intermittent static found in between radio stations, eventually leading him to study Sound Art at the University of Brighton. Adam started out working as a sound designer on award-winning animations and projects for studios like Parabella, before transitioning to composing. Adam's feature film score work includes: Saint Maud, Here Before, Out of Darkness, Femme, The Marsh King's Daughter, The Wasp, and Night Always Comes. Adam's television score work includes: Black Mirror, Truelove, and Fear.

Tracey's passion is period work, with a great collection of hair stock, and producing her own prosthetics. Tracey's features include: Quantum Of Solace, Batman Begins, The Raven, Urban Hymn, Extinction, I'll Find You, Gran Turismo, White Bird, Tuesday, and Christmas Karma.

Tamara has devoted her talents as a Production Designer and Art Director to a wide range of projects spanning multiple genres, periods, and visual styles. As Art Director, Tamara worked on Crash and eXistenZ for David Cronenberg, Guillermo del Toro's Mimic, and X-Men with Oscar–winning designer John Myhre.  Tamara's feature film work as Production Designer includes: Still Mine, Priscilla, Nightmare Alley, and Frankenstein. Tamara's television credits include: Suits, The Strain, Incorporated, Star Trek: Discovery, and Guillermo del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities.

For over twenty years, Alex has worked as stunt performer and stunt coordinator on a variety of film and television projects both local to the Pacific Northwest and globally. Alex's film work includes: Band Of Brothers, Ain't Them Bodies Saints, Dallas Buyers Club, Wild, Alone, Train Dreams, and Night Always Comes. Alex's television series work includes: Z Nation, Three Busy Debras, and Penelope.

Giovanna is originally from Italy and earned a degree in animation from the National School of Cinema in Rome. She then worked on feature films across Europe, including spending ten years in France. Giovanna then moved to Ireland, where she is currently based, working for Cartoon Saloon. Giovanna's work on features includes the films: Song Of The Sea, The Breadwinner, Wolfwalkers, and My Father's Dragon, and more recently, she made her directorial debut with the acclaimed short film, Eiru.

Asta's film credits include: 101 Reykjavik, Undercurrent, Summerland, Kon-Tiki, The Ash Lad: In Search of the Golden Castle, The 12th Man, The Quake, The Good Heart, The Wave, Everybody Hates Johan, and Touch. Asta's television credits include: Lazy Town, Dag, Norsemen, Beforeigners, Welcome To Utmark, and King and Conqueror.

Anna's feature film work includes: Better Watch Out, The Pretend One, Christmas Ransom, Talk To Me, and Bring Her Back. Anna's television work includes: A Place To Call Home, Random and Whacky, Drop Dead Weird, and Street Smart.

Manuel's film work includes the feature films: Reconstruction, Melancholia, Nymphomaniac, The Untamed, The House That Jack Built, Hope, A Taste Of Hunger, The Pact, When In Rome, and Belladone. Manuel's television work includes: Face To Face and The Kingdom: Exodus.

Amongst Diana's many film projects over the years are: District 9, Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom, The Salvation, Young Ones, The Giver, Chappie, and Shepherds and Butchers. Diana's work in television includes: Emmy-nominated efforts for Roots and The Girl, along with Knightfall, FDR, Abraham Lincoln, Troy: Fall Of A City, and the acclaimed live-action One Piece series on Netflix.

With over thirty years' experience in the film industry, Matt has collaborated on some of the finest Australian and International film productions. Matt's feature film work includes: Daybreakers, The Great Gatsby, Predestination, The Water Diviner, Elvis, Eden, Sleeping Dogs, and Christy. 

Sarah Beth's precise yet intuitive editing style, blending raw vulnerability with rhythmic storytelling, has made her a sought-after collaborator for visionary directors tackling bold, human-centered tales. Sarah Beth's feature film work includes: Faults, The View from Tall, Flower, The Art of Self-Defense, I Blame Society, Pink Skies Ahead, Dual, and I Wish You All The Best.

Stephen's feature film work includes: Requiem For A Dream, The Fountain, Resident Evil, Dual, Priscilla, My Old Ass, Arthur The King, Nutcrackers, and more recently A Big Bold Beautiful Journey. Stephen's documentary work includes: Rush: Beyond The Lighted Stage, The Go-Go's, and Cyndi Lauper: Let The Canary Sing.

Claudius' feature film work includes: Look Who's Back, Alone In Berlin, Goodbye Berlin, Frantz, In The Fade, Tar, and more recently In The Lost Lands and The Light. Claudius' television work includes: Babylon Berlin and Chernobyl, for which he won an Emmy.

Thomas' film work includes: When Animals Dream, Men and Chicken, Border, A Perfectly Normal Family, Everybody Hates Johan, The Damned, Touch, Alien: Romulus, and The Ugly Stepsister. Some of Thomas' more recent television projects include: Chosen, Archie, and Ronja the Robber's Daughter. 

Karin's film work includes: The Substitute, The Shamer's Daughter, In Love and War, Queen Of Hearts, The Shadow In My Eye, Loving Adults, Maybe Baby, Nightwatch: Demons Are Forever, and The Girl With The Needle. Karin's television casting work includes: 1864, Elves, and The Shift.

Jeannine has been nominated for four Oscars and five Art Directors Guild Awards and has won two ADG Awards including a Lifetime Achievement Award. Brandon's television work includes: the acclaimed series Reservation Dogs and more recently The Lowdown. Brandon is also an active member of the Production Designers Collective (PDC). 

Estefania's film work includes: No, The Club, Neruda, Ema, Nobody Knows I'm Here, A Fantastic Woman, In The Summers, Blanquita, Chile 76, and The Wave. Estefania's television series work includes: Midnight Family and No One Saw Us Leave. Estefania is an active member of the Production Designers Collective (PDC).

Jose has over twenty years' experience in publishing comics and illustrating for magazines, as well as publishing an award-winning graphic novel, Cosecha Rosa. He also Art Directed the television series Viking Skool at Cartoon Saloon. Jose's work as Animation Art Director includes the films: Bunuel In The Labyrinth Of The Turtles, the Oscar nominated Robot Dreams, and the more recent feature Decorado, by Alberto Vazquez. 

Sabine's feature film work includes: When Animals Dream, Shelley, The Charmer, The Day Will Come, Wild Witch, Charter, Another Round, The Penultimate, The Shadow In My Eye, Speak No Evil, The Quiet Ones, and The Ugly Stepsister. Her television work includes: Families Like Ours and Generations.

Beto's feature film work includes: Amor Extremo, Two Times You, Mirreyes Contra Godinez, MexZombies, Surviving My Quinceanera, Contraataque, and Our Times. Beto's television projects include: the acclaimed series, Hernan, and El Gallo De Oro.

After Liam transitioned into post production, he has worked on dozens of feature films, television projects, and documentaries. He has received dozens of awards and nominations, including an AFI and an ASSG award for the acclaimed drama Samson and Delilah. Liam's feature film work includes: Beneath Hill 60, Ruben Guthrie, The Daughter, Cargo, Jasper Jones, Jirga, Danger Close, Rams, The Legend Of Molly Johnson, The New Boy, The Deb, The Correspondent, and the upcoming Not Without Hope.
