Why does everything have to come to an end?? The NFL season, bottles of wine, TV shows, and this Sportzball season. Sportzballers, how can the crew thank you enough?? Well Des and Drew will certainly try but first they have to give their takes on the 2026 NFL Draft. After Drew goes over the Dolphin’s 3,004 draft picks and Des addresses the 3 Broncos picks (both those numbers are an exaggeration, sort of) the crew dives into all the draft news including Fernando Mendoza, Ty Simpson, Uar Bernard, and all the other tear jerkers and surprises.    BUT THEN, to bring this season to close, Des and Drew look back at all the amazing moments from the NFL season, the Broncos and Dolphins seasons, and the Sportzball season as a whole. Ok so Des and Drew tried to take a week off but in the middle of free agency might have not been the best time to take a break. Oh well, lesson learned. What in the hell has the last 72 hours been like in free agency?? Maxx Crosby was traded to the Ravens OH WAIT never mind the Ravens backed out. Was it just a regular failed physical or was something more sinister going on and why is Jerry Jones always in the middle of it?   Then the crew discusses how the Broncos basically aren’t doing anything except keeping their own players which is fine but not exciting. Des and Drew are fresh off a plane from Denver after Des watched the season of her favorite team in the whole wide world blow away like the snow in the second half of the AFC Championship game. Her tears have thawed and dried away and she’s fine… until about two thirds of the way into the pod. Des and Drew are in a strange and scary place known as a PROFESSIONAL PODCAST STUDIO! Episode 27 starts off PIPING hot with the news of Mike Tomlin stepping down as the Steeler’s Head Coach after 19 seasons right as Drew and Des sit down to record. After Des convinces Drew that they’re not recording with ESPN in the background, they get straight into NFL news with all the head coaching vacancies, and how McDaniel is doing since his surprise firing and check in on Vance Joseph and the other Broncos staff that are interviewing for coaching jobs.   They then get into one of the best Wild Card Weekends that has ever happened in the history of ever with last minute wins, come from behind victories, and one of the biggest underdogs in playoff history nearly pulling off an upset - and that was just Saturday. The Bears and Patriots were the only home teams to win, we could have watched Aaron Rodgers’ final snap as a football quarterback (thank GOD), and can Eagles fans chill TF out??   After Des and Drew go over all the craziness, they preview the Broncos Bills matchup and get their picks in for all of the remaining playoff games. Des and Drew survived the holiday season, barely, and are back in studio and already driving each other crazy. Speaking of driving, Drew drove to Arizona to visit his girlfriend’s family and got a flat tire and Des couldn’t focus on football cause she was learning how to be an aunt.   As far as football goes, Drew is feeling good about Quinn Ewers and Mike McDaniel on the Dolphins and is pretty sure he’s seen the last of Tua in a Dolphin’s uniform. But none of that matters cause the Broncos are AFC West champs baby! Even though it may have not been the dominant beat down Des wanted, the Broncos swept the Chiefs and are on the verge of clinching the number one seed in the AFC, things are looking good.   Drew is wrong, yet again. He meant Kirk Herbstreit, not Lane Kiffin, with the golden retriever named Peter. Des is debating if she should ever trust him again.   Then the crew goes over a crazy week 17 that sets up an even crazier final week of the season. Will the 49ers or the Seahawks win the 1 seed in the NFC? Why would it be a good thing for the Panthers if they lost against the Buccaneers? Will the Broncos clinch the number one spot in the AFC against the Chargers? Will the Ravens take down Des’ arch nemesis Aaron Rodgers? And can Drew’s Dolphins do the entire NFL a solid and defeat the Patriots?? There were a lot of firsts this week for the Sportzball crew. Des saw her Broncos lose for the first time since September. Drew saw someone other than Tua throw the ball for Dolphins. Des got onto Empower field for the first time. Quinn Ewers started his first NFL game. Des was in attendance for the Broncos loss… oh wait no that’s happened before please for love of God don’t remind Des.    But we don’t need to worry about that! It’s the holiday season and Drew and Des are doing their damnedest to stay cheery. Drew is used to losing so that’s not much of a surprise there but he does get to get into the new little QB drama that’s brewing in Miami and how Tua can’t win in his eyes. Des gets into her experience being at the game, how much she thinks Trevor Lawrence looks like an Easter Island statue mixed with Prince Charming from Shrek 2. She’s also got a big ol bone to pick with the refs.    Around the league lots of insane comeback and overtime wins to get into including Rams/Seahawks & Bears/Packers and that was all before Sunday’s games even started. We had Grandpa Rivers trying his 44-year-old hardest to keep the Colts alive and the Chiefs lost to…the Titans??? Starting QBs are dropping like flies and is Drew ok with players punching fans? Well, The Winner’s Warehouse got a little less full this week at Sportzball HQ. The Dolphins fell from their four game winning streak and were officially eliminated from playoff contention. So Drew is doing FINE. He doesn’t think anything is wrong. What’s the first stage of grief again? Oh yeah, denial. But before the crew gets into that they talk about their weekend holiday party, Des and Broncos For Dummies being on the news, and why Drew continues to have horrible ideas.   But yes, we have to talk about the Dolphins game and how much Drew can’t stand watching Tua play football. Y’all. It’s our fourth consecutive Winner’s Warehouse in a row. That’s redundant because consecutive means in a row. Whatever. The vibes are high at Sportzball HQ. Before the crew gets into football they talk for way too long about love languages and how to perform a doggy DNA test but don’t worry they get to football eventually… sort of.    The Broncos have won 10 in a row and the Fins are right on their heels snagging their 4th win in a row and 5 out of their last 6. So vibes are HIGH. Well sort of. Des is playing a bit hurt today but that’s fine it won't stop her from shouting from the rooftops that the Chiefs reign is DONE and the Broncos are here to stay. The Dolphins have a running game behind De’Von Achane and even if he’s hurt, they’ve got Jaylen Wright and Prince Ollie Gordon right behind him. Tua is… well he’s fine but he didn’t throw a pick AND he won for the first time in sub 46 degree weather so look out MVP Tua might be back.   As we fly on up to a Mile High, the Broncos were bored playing with the lowly Raiders. They scored on their opening drive for the first time all season and watched as Marvin Mims directed traffic as he went for his first punt return touchdown of his career. Des is finally confident that this win will shut up all the haters and doubters and show that Bo Nix and the Broncos are here to stay.    Around the league, teams are sinking and sinking hard. The Eagles, Chiefs, Colts, Commanders, and Ravens are nothing like they were last year and the beginning of this year so what is happening? Do they all need a positivity bunny in their locker room? Maybe not ‘cause we don’t think that works. It’s another Winner’s Warehouse at Sportzball HQ and yet for some reason Des is angry at everyone. Which is strange because because they both had a warm and balanced breakfast for the first time before recording. Well for Drew. Anyway the crew talks ages and how often is too often to forget how old you are. Drew would like to forget this Dolphins season even though they’re on a little three game winning streak. Being forced to sit down and watch Saints/Dolphins felt like torture. Well would you look at that Sportzballers! The football Gods graced Des and Drew with matching bye weeks for the inaugural season of Sportzball so Des and Drew had a productive Sunday of cleaning, grocery shopping, meal prepping and working out right? No they rotted on the couch and watched RedZone; and it was glorious.    We do break down a few little pieces of news coming out of Broncos Country and Dolphins Nation. Wil Lutz signed a three year extension, and a few other extensions that may be up and coming. We also look quickly at the Broncos primetime matchup coming up against the Commanders and what they’ll look like with Jayden Daniels most likely out yet again. In Dolphins world, not much was happening BUT Devon Achane appears to actually be pretty good and they have a very favorable matchup against the Saints so could they be SNIFFING AROUND? Here’s hoping.  Ke$hup time! We had so much time to watch all the other games this weekend! Des is apparently the best game picker ever and could have been the only person to correctly pick the Texans to beat the Bills. Also, are the Bills done? Is their window closing? Guys. Ok. Are we a podcast about all things NFL? Is one of us a Dolphins fan? Yes. But this week, Des and Drew go to Denver to watch one of the biggest games the Broncos have played in a decade. Drew’s all alone in LA but that’s fine cause it’s a Winner’s Warehouse week at Sportzball. Des joins us from her parents house in Colorado and the famous Ed Garneau makes several guest appearances. The Broncos eek out an ugly win against the Raisers but it doesn’t matter cause the Broncos keep winning. They’re tied for the best record in football and they're first in the west, nothing else matters. But it would be nice to get some offense going for a change. Also is Sean Payton a fashionista?   Speaking of winning and offense, the Dolphins pull off a historic upset against the Bills in Miami. Evan, Des and Drew go over the Dolphins loss to the Ravens, the opposite trajectory both teams are on, Chris Grier’s firing, does Drew know he can escape the Dolphins fandom whenever he wants, and the real reason all the games were taken away from the Raven’s locker room.   Then Des goes over the Bronco’s 6th straight win, and like always it was super super easy and painless. It’s spooky time at the ol Sportzball HQ. Des and Drew dress up for the festivities and Drew learns a new fact about his best friend (she apparently is indifferent about Halloween) who knew? Not Drew.   Des has the hottest of takes in the world for her Broncos win, she feels “Meh” about it. Apparently an entire season of heart stopping, anxiety inducing wins and losses have desensitized her to a comfortable beatdown of the Cowboys. But wait, her hot takes don’t stop there. She also says Bo Nix should absolutely be in the conversation for MVP and Drew… has other thoughts.   Speaking of Drew’s thoughts, he is absolutely back on the Dolphin’s, Tua, and McDaniel trains. Honestly, there’s no way Des and Drew can do that Bronco game justice. But it doesn’t mean they aren’t going to try. After a few riveting Drew stories that Des wants to turn into a book, the crew immediately dives into Denver’s historic victory against the Broncos. Seems it never rains in Southern California! It’s a soggy Tuesday morning at the Sportzball studios, but it’s also a soggy morning for Drew and any Dolphins fans. Drew is not happy with what he’s seeing on the field and also off the field. He doesn’t love Tua’s press conferences and neither does Mike McDaniel. Well everyone we’re just past the quarter mark of the NFL season and Des is flying high, Drew is drowning in despair, and Perry is, wait who is Perry? Both our teams won and boy does it feel good! Well kind of, for some of us. The Broncos had a defiant win over the Bengals minus Joe Burrow. Tee Higgins and Jamar Chase who? Denver’s defense and offense finally put together a full game and look on fire as they head to take on the defending Super Bowl champs on Sunday. How does Des feel about it? Don’t ask her, just let her enjoy this win.   In Miami the Dolphins were looking FRESH in their rivalry jerseys and looked so fresh they got their first win of the season and nothing else bad happened right? Nope, Tyreek is definitely done for the year and possibly for good and apparently Drew is a wizard and accidentally spoke it into existence. Well well well, three’s a company at the ol’ Sportzball HQ this episode. Guys, the NFL season is two weeks in and we don't have time to talk about our weeks or anything fun WE HAVE FOOTBALL TO TALK ABOUT SO BUCKLE UP. The Dolphins let their first potential victory slip away from them as Devon Achane stepped out of bounds and Tua over threw and under threw Tyreek Hill all over the place. Planes are flying over the stadium calling for the firing of Mike McDaniel and Chris Grier. But good news is they play the Bills next week so, things are looking up.   The Broncos lost an absolute heartbreaker to the Colts on Sunday and everyone is pointing fingers. Is it Bo Nix? Darren Rizzi, Dondrea Tillman, the offense? The Defense? Des isn’t here for the finger pointing, except for maybe a little at Sean Payton cause it’s easy to point fingers at that guy. Well well well, the season has finally begun and boy oh boy, are some of the Sportzballers happy. The Denver Broncos may have not had a pretty win but they have a dub in the win column and it can only get better from here. Denver’s defense led by Des’ Wonder Boy Nik Bonitto wrecked Cam Ward and the Tennessee Titans. Bo Nix looked a bit rusty but there’s no need to panic.   Speaking of panic - South Florida should be declaring a national emergency after that performance. Tua Tagovailoa looked disastrous. The defense looked abysmal. Mike McDaniel looked lost and Tyreek Hill looked pissed (what’s new). What is there to say about that game other than Drew hopes the Colts go undefeated the rest of the season so that loss doesn’t look as bad.   Throughout the rest of the league; Buffalo and Baltimore was pure cinema, Javonte Williams shines (sort of) in Dallas, and you can’t spit on people. We’re finally on our way to the moment we’ve all been waiting for. Drew and Des talk about how they plan to enjoy their last weekend free of football before they drop into the hole of the NFL season.
