Starfish Prime IV
Starfish Prime IVContinuing the series with a mix of old and new this session of Radio Mperia's primary transmission. This session of the Starfish Prime programme starts with a Canadian band by the name of Bit by a Monkey. A three piece from Kingston Ontario, this track is downloadable for FREE at their Mperia profileThe next track comes from Sad Lovers and Giants. Taken from the 1983 Feeding the Flame album In flux is not available on Mperia or MySpace, but it's surely just a matter of time. Staying in the last century Fish dates to 1991 and comes from Kick Asteroid featuring the dubious vocals of yours truly (well what's the point of having your own radio show if you can't indulge in a little self promotion eh?) and can be found, along with other oddities from the band, on the bands Mperia profileZesty Lester and the Spicy Meatball recently quit the scene, but before they left we managed to salvage a few tracks from their MySpace site including this track called I Dont LiveHowever Billie Ray Martin is by contrast very prolific. Possessing perhaps one of the most soulful voices around as evidenced on Crime of Passion which, along with 47 other tracks, is available via her Mperia profile and you can preview more of Billies material via her MySpace ProfileWe close this session with Isobel, a track from London outfit Sweet Teeth.Again you can find this and other tracks by the band via their Mperia profile That raps it up for this session, remember, if you have any suggestions, comments or questions about the show, or if you want to submit tracks for inclusion in future session then e-mail:[email protected]!

Starfish Prime II
Starfish Prime IIKicking of the second programe are Death For a Day, with a track entitled Lets Burn (this Disco)Sadly The Brighton Line split almost a year ago"Branches Twine and Hope" the second track still sounds good however, and there are still a few tracks you can still catch by visiting their MySpace profile. Kristen Cothron hails from Nashville. She has released recordings via CDBaby.com and has tracks available via her Mperia profile including this track Moment in the MoonMark the Sky hail from Sydney, Australia, but their relative geographical isolation is no way betrayed by their music - it rocks! Check out their MySpace profile and the three tracks available at their Mperia profileincluding the track featured on this show "Pusher"Mbryo takes us past the halfway stage with a soothing "Ambient Dream No2" Again Mbryo maintain a MySpace and Mperia profile and you can check out their other tracks thereThe quirky "Doublepost Techno (Filth Monkey mix) is next up and comes from a mysterious outfit which goes under the name of 70171Closing this session with a little nostalgia is Kick Asteroid with a song entitled She's Full Of Secrets

Just above the atmosphere
is where the Starfish Prime exploded (look it up in the encyclopedia)I've used that title as the starting point for the Radio Mperia playlists, as the tracks included are from unknown artists that are creating spectacular music but are suffering from lack of airplay.During the brief period I have been perusing the material on Mperia.com I have been amazed at some of the quality of music being produced by artists that remain unsigned. What is more stunning is that I regularly go to say to friend 'have you heard that track by such and such' only to have to stop myself because I realise that there is very little likelihood that they will have heard it.This blog has been started to go a small way of redressing that and I hope to introduce you to some sounds that you may just likeSo without futher ado I bring the first ever Radio Mperia hi-fi playlist Starfish Prime IKicking off the session is a track from an old friend, Paul Five, with a revamped version of Flesh Trash Heat. Although not yet available on Mperia, Paul is presently in the throes of finishing another Cd "Rock Mode" which should be online soonTalking of Mperia, the second track comes from Joshua Ellis, one of the movers and shakers at Mperia.com. The track included here is entitled Redwood City Station and like many of Joshua's tracks (and there are a fair few) IS available on Mperia.Steve Riseborough goes under the monica of Ribsburg and our third track is his jangly, poppy I found my love The title and style of the song belie the disturbing lyrics that push this sparkling catchy ditty along - once again there is a excellent selection of Steves work on Mperia, check out Chicken & Grapes and Your Funny Little Glasses in particular. The next track is NOT available on Mperia although Blip, the band behind Godspeed Balance do host a plethora of tracks on the site as do our fifth artist Razorbladekisses with their track Lure of the Temptress 2005
