Val and Dee are back together, but that doesn't mean everything is great. Val is still injured and realizes he can't stay in the new cave any longer. Delilah finds a way to get him on the old rusted ship. Delilah finds blue paint on a windowsill and hopes to search the island at night, especially when Gavin conks out after a big dinner. Meanwhile, Val is struggling to survive as he hides out in the blue paint cave. Once again, Gavin disappears into the woods at night. But this time a storm has moved in. While he's gone, Noah visits Delilah in her room. It doesn't take long before Delilah is uncovering the mystery of the taped up photos in the living room. Meanwhile, Val finds something he can use as a splint at the bottom of the pool. Delilah is suspicious of Gavin and wants to have a look around the woods. She goes exploring, even though Gavin doesn't approve. She makes her way to the cliff with the view of the lighthouse, and there, she believes she sees someone. But when she makes her way to the lighthouse, she finds the door locked and no one around. Was she just seeing things? Meanwhile, Val is immobile, cold, and in pain. He wants to check the bodies at the bottom of the pool. Val thinks back to his rock climbing days which gives him the motivation to try for an escape. But he's already weak, tired, and cold. Can he climb over twenty feet to escape the confines of the cave? Meanwhile, Delilah continues searching the beach. At night she comes back to the house to find Gavin leaving and heading into the woods. Gavin wakes Delilah to tell her of the terrible news: Val drunkenly fell off a rocky cliff to his doom. Caught off guard and completely distraught she goes searching for Val. But it doesn't take long before she truly questions what Gavin is telling her. Meanwhile, Val finds himself falling through a cave into an icy pool, tied to a rock. Val decides to take some time to himself and go exploring around the island, much to the chagrin of Gavin. When he returns, he helps Gavin with the cows, while Delilah plays with Noah and his toy cars. After Dee and Val fight over past issues, Val hikes off into the woods, leaving Dee alone and hurting. She ends up talking to Gavin in an effort to relieve the pain, but all Gavin does is make things awkward. Eventually Dee goes looking for Val, hoping they can make up and move on. Val and Delilah meet Gavin, the owner of the island. He offers them food and shelter. But some of the things Gavin says and does seem a little odd. During lunch, Val questions Gavin about a way off the island. Val and Delilah are caught in a storm. They try sending an SOS, but time runs out as the boat breaks apart, casting them into the wild sea. They eventually awaken on a beach, cold and hurt. With nothing but the clothes on their backs, they head inland to see exactly where they wound up. Val and Dee are finally off, ready to tackle the adventure of a lifetime. The first day goes well as they sail north, but at night past issues arise, leading to a feud that makes things awkward for their second day together. John only has one state left. But it's a long one. After turning his phone off for a week, he decides it's time to change things up. Well, it looked like things were over for John. But he got some unlikely help and now he's back on the road. Once again things are awkward between John and Chase and John isn't exactly sure why. While resting on the side of the road in Tennessee, John thinks about screenwriting again. He tells Chase of a story that he wrote back in highschool. Maybe something he could eventually revisit? Things seem to be getting better... until the night they sleep outside a police station. Thanks to Chase, John is able to narrowly escape death. After they cross another bridge into Kentucky, they can relax as they start heading south. Even with a black eye, John agrees to go out to eat with Chase, Kathy, and her husband. They hit up a small Mexican restaurant and talk about traveling. John and Chase make it to the Lynn Motel. They're able to get a room and relax. But things soon get heated between them after John insists they talk... and the awkwardness ensues. Things continue to change for the group after their fight. After figuring out that Liz cheated, Chase confronts John, which leads to a long yelling match in the middle of Nebraska. The walking doesn't get easier when the group has a bad run-in with some railroad police that kick them out of their camping spot. With tension high it doesn't take long before Chase and Liz are fighting once again. The group waits around the hospital as Anders heals from his broken leg. The walk is over for him and the group must now proceed with just three. It's been a long month but the group is almost to Idaho. With only two miles left until the border, Chase is adamant about reaching a new state, but the rest of the group is tired.
