Finally, after 6 years, got to get Dark Tropics to Galway for show. Rio loves Chet Baker, so you’re in for a treat. Gilla Band are back with a new single, and so are The Mary Wallopers. Shark School have a new single, an album at the end of the month and upcoming live shows including Beyond The Pale and Femme Fest at Róisín Dubh. Catch Sprints for two shows at Róisín Dubh in July! Æ Mak’s new album is out! And check out Paddy Hanna’s new single, a cover of Burt Bacharach’s Walk On By, ahead of the debut performance of Paddy Hanna’s Bacharach show at Beyond The Pale.

Loads of great stuff for you this week - Gurriers have a new single, album and live dates! The Dose EP is out - go see them next week. Mary In The Junkyard & Swapmeet both release single #3 from their forthcoming albums. Check out the incredible new single from Morgana - who you really have to see live. Car Seat Headrest revisit and reimagine Teens Of Denial. Nearly time for the Vicar St show from Aldous Harding. Is there a new Blondshell album on the way? I mean, probably, right? Finally saw Modern Woman live and they were great. So is the album. Don’t miss the live dates for Dark Tropics happening soon. Arab Strap are 30 years at it, and there’s a new single, album and live dates so get on that. Had to throw in some Two-Man Giant Squid and Rua Rí also - because they’re class. Best boys Getdown Services’ new single is out now, album in August, and while it’s great they are playing Vicar St, we will miss them in Galway. But go see them for sure.

Some times, the stars align. Some times, Burglar’s favourite song is also your favourite song by The Goon Sax. Some band. Also, Burglar have a new single. So do For Nina. And they are both playing in the Grand Social on 16 April (followed by Nialler9) - you should definitely go to that even though it’s not in Galway. Lads. WU LYF have a NEW album. Only took 15 years. It’s better the first one too, which is a bonus. Can’t tell you enough how great Rua RÍ is - the album is nearly out but Makeover is now a single and it’s the one he played with Kean Kavanagh in December that blew our minds totally. Also, new single from NewDad with Liam McKay from Sign Crushes Motorist / Dead Calm / etc etc etc - they are self releasing and it feels so good. Have you checked out Birding, the debut album from London three piece deary? It’s on Bella Union, which means you should probably just buy it anyway. Also, it’s great. While I have you - go buy Ships by Seamus Fogarty. Just because it’s amazing.

This week - Telekura’s BEST INTERVIEW EVER (Takeaway - the Róisín is class)!!!! Check out the Daniel Avery remix of Just Mustard. Will Sheff is back with his second solo album on the way. Goodtime John has a new album, and a new video dedicated to the one and only Glenn Keating. Waxahatchee join the gang doing covers of This Is Loreli. Nearly time for the Kean Kavanagh produced Rua Rí album! And Modern Woman too. Theatre have also FINALLY released a single, and an EP on the way. Also, Body Type are back and so is Pádraig Cooney. Good time.

Rua Rí’s album is out and it is deadly. Don’t forget that Broken Social Scene (new single, album next week!) are in Ireland with Stars & Metric in September. Also, always great to play Stars. Death Cab For Cutie also back with a new album on the way and a September show in Dublin. Goldbug announces debut album Swings And Roundabouts is on the way next month. Dark Tropics have announced a tour and new music on the way, but let’s revisit last year’s single because it’s great. Dose - single, tour, EP on the way - what more could you want? The Afghan Whigs also drop a new single and Kneecap have a collab with the awesome Kae Tempest ahead of the album next week. Have a great weekend

Strange Brew #413 Still Tryin' (11/04/25) Does it ever stop, like? Chatting with Yoni Wolf this week - can’t stop picturing him sitting beside Brian Eno, copying his homework - also, Paddy Hanna’s superb new album, Oylegate is out, so you’re going to want to get all over that. I did not expect to be playing some DJ Koze, but he’s only gone and released a track with Markus Archer from The Notwist, which also samples Consequence from Neon Golden, so yeah, let’s have a go of that. Other stuff too. It’s all good.

Here's Strange Brew #412 Turn Me Down (04/04/25) - The Vaselines tell me about their favourite song, and, like, it was very easy to misunderstand what Eugene said, so I thought it was a band called The Throws, whom I’d never heard of and may or may not exist. It wasn’t. It was The Thrills. We figured it out after. Good save. Frances chose a fantastic track by Pictish Trail. Also, some class new music. Wu Lyf are back and I’m still pronouncing it wrong. Anyway, have a great weekend.

That WHY? concert I’ve been banging on about is finally here so try not to explode with excitemnent. Joan As Police Woman is nearly here too - get tickets for that!
