The Christmas movie to end all Christmas movies. We've all seen it and most of us love it. This holiday season we attempt to do justice to the greatest(?) X-mas flick, It's a Wonderful Life. What makes this Rach's favorite Christmas movie? Why would Ty's first act as president be an executive order making this required viewing? Why did a movie that bombed at the box office become the national sensation that it is? And how closely are Reed and Stewart doppelgängers for Rach and Ty? We get into all of the backstory that you can handle on this one. This might be our greatest episode of all time. Thanks for making us the richest folks in town.

Welcome to our annual Halloween spooky spectacular with a film that needs two Vs to spell out Witch because it is very, very awesome! Rach tells us all about living deliciously: how she ranks the animals in this movie, why she is a rabbit, and how much she wants to knock those twins' heads together. Ty does his best devil impersonations while telling spooky stories about the sexy witch dreams that inspired the film, who the real terror on set was, and how Robert Eggers became the horror icon we all know and love today.

For our season finale we're covering all of it! That's right. Six seasons, two movies, and one limited series turned reboot. This week we're talking Sex and the City baby! The Summers Off season finale that is years in the making and one of Rach's longest deep dives yet. We talk feminism, fashion, feuds, men, and Manolos. Ty describes his ultimate pick up basketball team while Rach finally comes to terms with which SATC girl she is. Is Ty on team Big or team Aidan? Who cares, the ladies are all fabulous!

Wait...who's reunion is this? Romy and Michele's...uh, okay! Just when you think you've heard all of Ty's high school stories, he saves a heartbreaking tale about a Nebraskan Valkyrie. We also delve deep into the fashion that puts this movie into cult-classic status. Ty continues to share unheard stories about his own cult-classic high school wardrobe. The movie may be forgettable, but the stories will last a lifetime.

It's open season on all suckheads! The Summers Off crew takes in the first Marvel movie ever (debatable) with...Blade! We chat about character origins, sequels, Wesley Snipes getting blacklisted, sweet combat, and vampire suntan lotion in this one. Will Rach get nauseous from all of the blood? Will she fall in love with Pearl? Will Ty rock Wesley Snipes' tattoos moving forward? Tune in to find out!

If you don't get baby fever from this episode you'd better check your pulse! This week Ty and Rach watch Three Men and a Baby. They delve into diapers, dresses, and drug deals?? Selleck, Danson, and Guttenberg chillin with a baby and figuring it out. Just bros being bros. Pretty much Ty's dream. Is this Rach's favorite movie? Would she be able to handle the most wicked dance sequence in film history? Sugar, butter! We've got a tasty treat for you this week with Rach's pick, Waitress. Ty can sing all of the songs from the hit musical by Sara Bareilles, but he can't pick Keri Russell out of a lineup. To be fair, Ty also didn't know that the Gilmore Girls were a mother/daughter duo. We dygress. What he lacks in CW show knowledge, he makes up for in the kitchen. Join us this week as Ty takes us through his other passion, baking! It only takes a taste! 

We return with another classic from Summers Off's favorite no-neck monster, The Schwarzenegger.  Is this Arn's craziest performance yet? Would Rach survive the Stalkers and their weird pro wrestling gimmicks? Who even wrote this thing? If nothing else, you need to listen to this so you can see that hottie mc'hotterson Glen Powell in the remake later this year. Can you believe its taken us 8 seasons to bring you the iconic coma classic While You Were Sleeping? Well its here now baby and man is it packed with facts you didn't know you needed to know. We've got ties to Three Ninjas and Cool Runnings, the worst table read in history, creepy coma guys, and pubic transit tips/tricks. Ty even has a segment all about the 90s Chicago Bulls dynasty. Ladies and gentlemen, please steer clear of the closing door and take your seat. 

It's Season 8 Premiere Time, BABY!!! Who would have thunk it, but we are eight summers deep and still crane kicking our way through podlife! And our triumphant return is accompanied by one of the best 80s movies of all time...The Karate Kid! We chat it up about baby Ralph Macchio, Chuck Norris rumors, the origins of the fight-ending crane kick, and so much more. Ty does some geeking out on the different forms of martial arts, while Rach admires his TWO yellow belts. Will she love this movie? Does it have enough heart? Are the fighting montages too amazing for her eyeballs? Tune in and find out!

The podcast episode nobody asked for, but we had to deliver! Summers Off wades into unfamiliar territory and this is as legit as we will ever get. Nothing screams holiday magic like a good Hallmark / Lifetime Christmas movie showdown! This Holiday special features not one but two Christmas movies made just this year. We cover Christmas in the Spotlight. A Lifetime Adaptation of the Swelce Love story, told at Christmas (duh!). AND we have Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story. Featuring Donna Kelce (duh!). These are not to be confused with Spotlight on Christmas, yet another favorite in the holiday franchise machine. Join us as Ty regales us with all things Lunchables, Magic Apparel, and Tay Tay (duh!). You don't have to know either of these films to have a holly jollly time. 

We had to do a scary one! Ty conned Rach into subjecting herself to the front stage and backstage horror that is Rosemary's Baby. We get into the Rosemary curse on this film, Mia Farrow's personal horror in her love life, and Ty's scary obsession with John Cassavetes. The biggest reveal of all is that Rach actually enjoyed the scary movies Ty picked this year. So much so that she has promised to watch scary movies all year long. We get hit with a case of the whackies for our Halloween special, Ernest Scared Stupid. We chat about the Ernest origins, talk trolls, and debate what age this Disney movie is intended for. Ty struggles with the impressions, there is plenty of singing, and we discover if this movie melted Rach's Ernest hating heart. Tune in to find out!

Rach can't carry the podcast, but she does carry Ty through this explosive finale with her amazing impressions of Gollum. We chat about the hippies who saved this franchise. What is Gollum juice? And how many times did Viggo get his ass kicked? And yes, Ty goes on a Ty-rade about Rings of Power. It is explosive, it is heartwrenching, it is Summers Off's season finale. We're talking about Paul Verhoeven's 1995 erotic drama, Showgirls (Rach's choice!). Loathed for its lewdness and beloved for its camp, Showgirls is a wild ride. You honestly just have to see it to believe it.

Is it the parallel Elvis story or the earworm hits that make this so memorable? Is this tied to an ancient, medieval tale? Where did Rach's childhood fear of owls originate from? And what is that cat saying??! All of this and more will be answered in this week's rockin adventure. 

It's time for the magical adventures of a bunch of 80s kids and their recreational drugs. We depart this world for that of Fantastica with The NeverEnding Story. Yes, that is the capitalization... This episode has it all. Rach mistaking the identities of our two boy leads and spending half the episode thinking they are the same person. We hear dog-dragon Falkor impressions. Rach does her best voiceover character work. And we cry, hard, for Artax.

This week Ty and Rach delve into the female psyche with Rach's pick Girl, Interrupted. Were you even a 90s actress if you weren't in this movie? Is anyone in this film certifiably crazy? If Angelina Jolie is a volcano and Winona Ryder is an orchid, then what does that make Whoopi? And who doesn't love rotisserie chicken? As always, nothing but the hard hitting questions will be asked in this episode. 

There's a time to live and there's A Time to Kill! We take the ultimate summer party out of the backyard and into the sweaty courtroom with Matty McConaughey's big break. We give you the skinny on all those Grisham MURDER books you love so much, the real life inspirations for this tale, and the 14 month search for a lead. Rach also tries to convince listeners she knows more about law than Grisham and offers some terrific legal advice.

"You have bewitched me body and soul, and I LOVE YOU!" Listeners prepare yourselves to swoon with this week's episode, Pride and Prejudice (2005). Don't worry, we'll also pay homage to the 90s Colin Firth version, but come on, Keira's is a feast for the eyes. Did you know there were two endings? The audio fireworks have arrived! Welcome to our first 4th of July release with...Independence Day! We recorded this in conjunction with our bud Andy Heller's Fat Dude Digs Flicks podcast which was a blast of a time. Listen to both pods wherever you get your listens from. Ty takes Rach into the history of the godfather of fantasy. How the Red Baron is in this movie, who Sauron the Prince of Cats is, and how Trotter and Bingo Baggins saved the Shire from becoming a chocolate factory. Don't worry, you movie nerds, we get into all the goodie goods.

A romantic holiday like today needs the ultimate romantic flick. A movie about a boy and his pie. We chat about true love this week with the scrumptious American Pie! Where did all these new Hollywood whippersnappers come from? How many positions did they experiment with for pie love making? Why are Eugene Levy and Jennifer Coolidge the best things about this movie? And why did Ty hang this poster above his bed to wake up to every morning? Rach falls in love all over again while discussing the most romantic movie of all time.

It's that time of year! Time to drink hot cocoa and snuggle by the fire. Just make sure your dad isn't in the chimney first ;)   This year for the Christmas Special, Ty and Rach cover the one and only Gremlins. We talk monkeys, puppet mayhem, and all things Gizmo. Ty and Rach step out of the DeLorean in their sexy red puffer vests for this Season 6 Finale of Back to the Future! We chat about Michael J NOT being the first Marty, Crispin Glover's weird volcano painting, Biff's mystery sexy friend, and Professor Brown's, I mean Doc Brown's chimp. Rach is flabbergasted and Ty is trying to remember if he loved this movie as a kid or not. Smack in the middle of wedding season, we're bringing you the only wedding movie that matters, My Best Friend's Wedding. For Rach's pick this week, we'll talk karaoke, lip scars, the Windy City, and which movie is Cameron Diaz's best (spoiler: it's this one!). 

FREEEEEEEEDOOOOM! We get epic this week with one of Ty's top five flicks, Braveheart! We chat all things Scots. Ty gets nerdy with 13th century history, Rach oils up Scottish muscles, the mullet vs. long hair debate returns, and Ty gets real mad when people slam this movie. Did Mel even want to do this? Where's the bridge at Sterling? What's the best cinema fight scene? Is Rach the Scottish hottie or the French babe? Tune in to find out.

It's Season 6 bay-bay! Who knew we'd make it 6 seasons?! Rach kicks off this summer with one of her top 5 faves and cult classic, Waiting for Guffman. Haven't seen it? Never heard of it? What's the matter with you?! Just kidding, but it's worth a rent especially if you're a fan of the Schitt's Creek cast. This week we talk all things mockumentary, the Christopher Guest experience, and community theater drama.   Buckle up for Season 6!  *Note: We recorded the first few episodes of this season before the passing of our daughter, Ophelia. While we considered editing it out, we were filled with such joy and it felt like we would be erasing that part of our journey. It's another edition of Summers Off After Dark with this naughty, cinematic masterpiece that aged so well with no problems whatsoever - Cruel Intentions! We talk spittle, real slaps, puking on set, that saucy soundtrack and how much it cost them, the sequels, and an amazing musical adaptation.  All this while giving you the lowdown of what happened with Reese and Ryan and debating the Top 50 sexiest movies of all time list.  It's a very tasty episode.

We hit pantsless tea parties, halloween costumes, give Sean Connery's accent a shot, and Rach definitely calls the Holy Grail the Goblet of Fire in this episode.  Ya gotta listen!
