This week, we thought that we'll be continuing with our "Heart & Soul" series, but God had other plans! The theme of discussion that came up during our VPM (Volunteer Prayer Meeting) on Sunday morning was “God’s power”, unknowingly the subtitle for the message that Pastor Lloyd had planned was “God’s love and Power”. There was a tangible sense in church that God was going to do something, so much so that one of our volunteers jokingly said “God is going to come and mess up our service.” which is exactly what He did. All in all, a much shorter, yet powerful, word from Pastor Lloyd and a really meaningful time of worship. Our First Service As Abide Church Jeffreys Bay!

At Abide Church, our vision is simple: to create an authentic place to grow in Christ. We believe that true transformation happens when we remain in Him. Our name, ‘Abide,’ comes from a passage in John 15, specifically verses 4 and 5, where Jesus tells us:"‘Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in Me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.’”These words are the foundation of our church. We exist to help people abide in Jesus - growing deeper in our relationship with Him, bearing fruit in our lives, and living out our faith in a way that impacts the world around us.As a non-denominational, evangelical church, our heart is to see people encounter God’s presence. We believe in the power of worship, the truth of God’s Word, and the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives. Everything we do - from our services to our discipleship groups - is centred around growing in Him and living out His mission. As a church, we are committed to building a culture that reflects the heart of Christ. These five pillars shape who we are and how we live out our faith together:1. Humility – Philippians 2:3 teaches us to ‘Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves.’ We seek to put others first and walk in humility as Jesus did.2. Honour – 1 Peter 2:17 says, ‘Honor everyone. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the emperor.’ At Abide, we value and respect each person, seeing them as God sees them.3. Initiative – Ephesians 5:15-16 calls us to ‘Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time.’ We take responsibility for our faith and step forward in obedience to God’s calling.4. Compassion – Matthew 9:36 tells us that when Jesus saw the crowds, ‘He had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.’ We desire to reflect the heart of Jesus by showing love and care to those around us.5. Joy – Psalm 16:11 reminds us, ‘In Your presence there is fullness of joy.’ We believe that following Jesus is a life of joy, not just duty, and we celebrate His goodness together. So, whether you’re here searching for truth, looking for community, or ready to grow deeper in your faith, we invite you to abide in Him with us. We encourage you to get connected, join a discipleship group, and step into all that God has for you.Together, let’s abide in Christ and bear much fruit for His glory. You can find us online @abide.jbay or if you'd like to get in contact with us, you can email us on [email protected] you'd like to join us for an in person meeting, you'll fund us at 40 Jeffrey Str, Jeffreys Bay, 6330 every Sundaymorning at 9Am.
