The Flash S7E1 Review - Super Tuesday Recap

Man it's good to be back. Covid ended The Flash's last season a bit early and delayed the start of season 7. There was such a delay that we actually had a little apprehension about the show coming back. Were we really down for another 22 episode season? Were we going to remember what happened in season 6? Were we going to feel the same connection to the show? Yes. The answer is yes. Yes we are.  The start of season 7 picks up right where we left off with season 6 and did a great job of getting us back up to speed and reminding us that this show was very good before things got shut down. Eva is still a real problem. We're getting closer and closer to our dream of an all female Rogues team. The show continues to pull from the EXCELLENT Williamson run of The Flash and really gets us thinking about where this show could go. Look, there will be plenty of time to be critical but right now, we're just happy the Fastest Man Alive is back on TV. Kriss and Dpalm record the Mailbag at the end of every month. The Dumb is Strong With This One - Mailbag #40

Time for the second Mailbag of 2021. We tackle listener emails and some of the latest news items. Like Gina Carano throwing away a Disney bag for *checks notes* a Ben Shapiro project? When Disney writes your apology note for you and tells you "Just shut up and read this and stop being a bigot online", you should probably listen. Then again, no one has ever accused Carano as being smart. We're also hopeful (Hope is a lie, we know), that this will be the last time we need to talk about about the "SnyderCut". We're so tired of it and ready for it to be over. And WB/DC Films must be too cause they just announced another wave of vaporware projects like a Superman film produced by JJ Abrams and written by Ta-Nehisi Coates and a new Latina Supergirl (Sasha Calle) appearing in The Flash movie. We're calling these vaporware projects because we're still waiting on any progress updates on New Gods (announced in 2018) and while the claims are its shooting soon, the Rock was attached to Black Adam back in 2007 and Marvel put out 3 whole phases and we haven't even seen Johnson even try on the suit yet. We've been hurt and lied to before. We don't believe anything until there's a trailer. And even then....(Hi New Mutants).  Anyway, strap in and give it a listen. We'll be back next month. Also stay tuned as we'll be back even sooner for the return of The Flash on CW. As a note, a couple of emails came in after we recorded so we will read those during next month's mailbag.     Kriss and Dpalm record the Mailbag at the end of every month. Batwoman S2 E5-6: All Crows Are Bastards

Now that we've got the introductions out of the way, our characters are rubbing up against each other and the lines of morality they've been crossing since season one. While Ryan is succumbing to her Kryptonite bullet wound because she doesn't want to admit any weakness, Luke's alliance with Alice and Mary's connection to Hamilton Dynamics continues to put Ryan in danger and push her to compromise her ethics both in and out of the Batsuit.  Meanwhile, Jacob and Crowphie (yup, you read that right) somehow manage to flout the law while self-righteously lecturing everyone on their lack of morals. Both of them are supposedly doing this for Kate but they're actually avoiding taking any responsibility for their past and current actions.  And finally, Alice tracks down Ocean and she really, really, means to kill him but like any good CW drama ... it's complicated. We discuss this, fight sex, Ryan's lack of edges, and more in this week's podcast.    Like what you hear? WandaVision Episode 8 Review

"But what is grief if not love persevering?" So now the WandaVision writers are just showing off. Of course that's been try this whole series but episode 8 really drives it home (Maybe even too much). If you had any doubt that this show was about Wanda's grief (How could it not be?), this episode really erases all of that. It also really drives home the fact that with its Disney+ shows, Marvel is really trying to meld the way they tell stories in their comic book world with their visual projects. And I'm not talking about the storylines but rather how they tell the stories. This episode takes us all the way back to Age of Ultron when Wanda & Pietro talk about the flashing red light on a Stark munition, waiting for it to go off. It goes back to why Wanda and Pietro survived the Hydra experiments with the mind stone (Not enough people are talking about what we saw there). And it's all tied to chaos magic and the fact that Wanda is an untrained, natural witch with powers she (and no one else) understands.  We have thoughts, theories and most importantly, a deep appreciation for whatever comes next. Honestly, we don't believe some of the most out there and wild theories but at the same time, we also don't put anything past Marvel either. So, we're preparing for anything in episode 9.  To those worried that there's too much to wrap up in the last episode, remember, this is a comic book being told as a TV show. As long as the MCU is around, there is no end to this story, just the next chapter. We're really excited to see where this goes.   Like what you hear? WandaVision Episode 7 Review

Well there you have it. It's been Agatha all along. Gotta love how Marvel has masterfully put together WandaVision. Even when you have a pretty good idea of what's coming, it's still rewarding to see how they pull it all together and reward both those that expect it and those that don't. Also even if you always thought that Agnes was Agatha Harkness, it's still pretty amazing to think that Marvel not only put Agatha Harkness in the MCU but is clearly going full witchcraft. Oh and if that wasn't enough, they don't slow roll Monica's powers and really go there. The only question now is if she's going to be called Photon or Spectrum. It's also looking like Wanda is subconsciously trying to use Monica to pull herself out. The minute it looked like Monica was making some progress, Agatha shows up and pulls Wanda away. Next episode gotta be Wanda & Monica vs Agatha and her familiar right? We have a lot to talk about this episode. Some of the things we discuss: The commercials are really coming into more focus as being important. First the "Yo Magic" commercial might give some insight into what Agatha is up to along with the "Nexus" commercial this episode It doesn't seem like the book in Agatha's basement is the Darkhold or the Book of Cagliostro (the Book the Ancient One was using in Doctor Strange). We do have an idea of what book it is and it could be just as terrifying There's been a lot of Man-Thing references in the MCU and if they're really moving towards the Nexus of All Realities we're getting even more. If this is part of a long game to getting a Man-Thing movie/series...bravo The fact that this episode takes time to show use Acting Director Hayward being up to something lets us know it came be any good Only two more episodes left. There's so many different directions this could go. All of them bad (in a good way) and we can't wait.   Like what you hear? BATWOMAN S2 E3-4 RECAP – ALL MY EXES ARE KILLERS

Shanna and Ro return to talk Batwoman and this time Hiroja's joining the fun. In "Bat Girl Magic", Ryan tries to join the team and balance her Bat life with her real-life but her biggest obstacles are her parole officer and Luke's refusal to believe that Kate is dead. This actually works out because Kate isn't dead. After kidnapping Sophie and Alice, Safiyah reveals that she did blow up Kate's plane … but Kate wasn't on it. Now that they're properly motivated, Alice and Sophie work together in "Fair Skin, Blue Eyes" to find a missing man, Ocean, whom Safiyah has been searching for. But their tenuous partnership falls apart when Sophie realizes Alice just wants Kate back to kill her once and for all. Meanwhile Ryan fights the Candy Lady, a woman who steals children who have been overlooked by society and funnels them into gangs. This leads to a deeper dive into Ryan's backstory and we meet one of her dangerous exes, Angelique. Seems like both Kate and Ryan have a weakness for killer women. We discuss this, the wigs, and so much more.   Like what you hear? WandaVision Episode 6 Review

There are only three more episodes of WandaVision left. Allegedly. That's the funny thing about what Marvel has done with this show. Not only is the reality in the show in flux, but they've even made us question our own reality. Is there a secret 10th episode? We have no idea but the fact that we're even questioning it shows how much Marvel has us wrapped around their finger. That and the fact that all of us are still skimming through the end credits just in case they decided to throw something in. And we haven't even gotten into the actual show itself. This episode continues the tradition of answering a few questions while also causing more of them. Yes we know Wanda has created this reality and is in control of a lot of it but there's still the question of "How?" The why is pretty much answered. She's created this reality as a way to deal with suppressed trauma. But there's clearly more to it. It' also doesn't explain how she was able to bring Pietro back and why he looks different. Vision clearly doesn't remember his life before being in brought back. He doesn't know what an Avenger is or being part of that team. However, Pietro does remember part of his life before. Pietro actually seems way more aware of what Wanda is doing and pretty much approves of it. That adds to some questions as to the motivates behind Pietro's appearance. We're real interested in seeing what Darcy discovered about what Hayward was up to. She was able to email it to Agent Woo before Wanda expanded Westview so we should be able to finally learn what the Director was up to. He's clearly pushing an agenda here and its clear whatever he did directly led to Wanda's reaction.     Like what you hear? WandaVision Episode 5 Review

Well things are escalating quickly on this show and we don’t just mean the ages of Tommy & Billy. Obviously the ending cameo will have a lot of people talking but we think that was just a way to distract from all the other things this latest episode of WandaVision dropped. Acting Director Hayward definitely fucked up. He completely disregarded Vision’s Living Will and S.W.O.R.D had taken the remains of Vision apart. Wanda found out and lets just say she didn’t react well. Wanda clearly has a distrust and dislike of S.W.O.R.D but it seems like her anger is really directed at Hayward We’ve been pointing out that Agnes is different from everyone else for a while now but this episode really drives that home. Agnes is always there when Vision or Wanda need something and when she “breaks character” it’s not really fear. She seems very committed to keeping Wanda in this illusion. Deep down we think Agnes is Agatha Harkness but time will tell Wanda is definitely a villain here. The people she’s controlling are in pain while she keeps this illusion going. The question is how much of it is she doing on her own or is she being guided. Tommy & Billy are manifestations of Wanda but she also doesn’t seem to control them. But is that because she’s slowly losing control and her subconscious is doing it? Vision at least now knows something is going on but he doesn’t get the full picture. Wanda’s reaction to him when he says “You can’t control me like you control them” should have sent a chill down everyone’s spine. Let’s talk about that ending. There’s going to be a lot of talk about how “This is how they connect the Fox X-Men movies to the MCU” and we need to throw cold water on that. It’s honestly too small. It’s likely that we won’t see a lot of those previous Fox movies kept. Narratively this cameo makes sense because this episode takes place in the 80’s and Wanda (or someone who wants to keep Wanda focused on staying in the illusion) brought in the 80’s Pietro. Like we said last episode, this is really all leading to the Fantastic Four and really establishing Phase 4 as the multiverse phase. That doesn’t mean when Feige finally decides to do a X-Men film or series that it will directly tie to the Fox films. It’s still more likely that whatever Marvel Studios does with Deadpool 3 will have more indications on the direction of the X-Men because the Deadpool series is closer to the actual X-Men than the Fox X-Men movies ever were. Also, there’s been a recent change in the comics where Wanda and Pietro are no longer mutants or related to Magneto. They’ve always been more Avengers than X-Men and this might be the MCU reconciling that. This has been a wild ride and we still have 4 episodes left. This has been an amazing first attempt at a series for the MCU and is really opening up the world. We’re able to finally fully explore the grief and hard life of Wanda and it’s even vindicating Age of Ultron (which we have a theory about that in our review). Strap in, cause the next 4 episodes are gonna be even crazier.   Like what you hear? Multiverse Madness - Mailbag #39

It's the first Mailbag of 2021. Let's see if this month/year goes better. For this episode we're a little more laid back and really just focus on some listener emails.  Topics: Ben Affleck praises Kevin Feige. Where could we see him in the MCU? Some listeners are still not over how bad WW84 Was Why is DC waiting so long to give us the sequel to Shazam? A reminder that Black Adam has a listed 2021 release data (LOL) Some good "Year One" comic recommendations WandaVision, Doctor Strange...is everything leading to the Fantastic Four in Phase 4? Also...the "SnyderCut" is now officially done...even though it was supposed to be "done" 3 years ago. smh.  Who made the decision to drop 4 hours of the SnyderCut on the same weekend of Falcon and The Winter Soldier? WandaVision Episode 4 Review - Trust the Feige Process

Look at that. See what happens when you trust the process that's been in place since the beginning of the MCU? Turns out that the first three episodes of WandaVision weren't slow but were perfectly paced and placed for the story being told. Episode 4 takes us outside of the illusion that Wanda has created and shows us how we got here (or at least partly).  Things that we discuss: Maria Rambeau helped found S.W.O.R.D. That means both S.H.I.E.L.D and S.W.O.R.D. were both cofounded by women in the MCU and that's pretty cool The timeline puts WandaVision happening about 3 weeks after the end of EndGame. That actually means this happened before Far From Home which makes the after credit scene of that movie hit different (With Nick Fury in space building a station with a bunch of Skrulls). The 5 year gap after the blip showed some people really did grow. Darcy is having a come up and Jimmy finally learned that card trick. Good for him We knew Wanda was behind a lot of this but the level at which she is doing it is really revealing the horror aspect of this show. Seems like Wanda is puppeting her dead boyfriend's body around in an illusion to make it seem like he's still alive.  Speaking of Vision, we have a theory about how this all came to be and why Wanda seems to react so violently to seeing the logo of S.W.O.R.D. What if the acting Director of S.W.O.R.D. changed the name of the organization after they started experimenting on the remains of Vision and Wanda found out. It makes sense. Even though he was killed and the Mind stone was ripped from him by Thanos, S.W.O.R.D. may have been studying him to see if any remains of the stone were there. Wanda finds out after coming back and well...things didn't go well from there.  This was a great episode that answered some questions and presented so many more. It's safe to say that Marvel knows what they're doing here and their Disney+ shows are going to do a great job of world building for their next phase of movies. We can't wait.     Like what you hear? Batwoman S2E1 - E2 Review

There was no way the CW was going to introduce a Black Batwoman and we weren't going to talk about it. Shanna and Ro discuss the themes and storylines that have carried over from season one of Batwoman as Javicia Leslie takes over the role from Ruby Rose.  Ryan Wilder (Leslie) dons the cowl after Kate Kane disappears in a suspicious plane crash. Though she grapples with her ability to pick up where Kate left off, Ryan, a former foster child and ex-con, joins the Bat Team to protect Gotham and fight back against the personal injustices she's endured.  Javicia Leslie joins a strong supporting cast and the writers have taken care to find personal connections between Ryan and the characters we've come to know and love like Mary (Nicole Kang), Luke Fox (Camrus Johnson), and even Kate's nemesis, Alice (Rachel Skarsten).  The first two episodes set up some interesting storylines and pull out some nuances that the show can delve into with a Black Batwoman at the forefront of this story. Join us every other week as we cover Batwoman season 2 and watch the show every Sunday at 8pm or the next day online via the CW app.   Like what you hear? WandaVision Episode 3 - Don't Say the U Word

Yeah. Are you nervous yet? We said this last week but episode 3 of WandaVision is the one that really solidifies this creeping towards a horror show. While we're not 100% sure what's going on, its beginning to look like Wanda might be holding a whole town hostage in her fantasy. The question (or one of many) is how did all of this begin? Was this the plot of someone else that then got out of hand? Or did Wanda do all of this on her own? And what is S.W.O.R.D.'s role in all of this? Here are some things that caught our eye: Wanda swings between having no control of her powers and having complete control. When she's fully into the illusion that is the sitcom her and Vision are living in, her powers seem to do things she's not trying to do. Like when she made the fake butterflies become real (which is frightening) or when she went into labor and her powers went haywire. But then there are times when its clear she's in control. Like the rough jump cut to restart the scene when Vision started trying to mention that things seemed off. Or when she sent Monica...I mean "Geraldine"...flying out of the town.  The mention of Pietro and Ultron and particularly Wanda's reaction to hearing the name "Ultron" really drive home that Wanda is suffering from a lot of trauma. Also reminder that her husband's "dad" killed her brother. We said that nothing good comes from Wanda having twins but the way they're manifested this time are even worse. She goes through 9 months fo pregnancy in like 14 hours. And even then, she seems to just manifest Billy just her and Vision could both have kids with the names each wanted.  One question we don't have an answer for yet is if Vision is real or just all in Wanda's head Clearly more attention should have been paid to what Wanda's powers really are. Considering they came from the mind stone, this all could really just be the tip of the iceberg. Wanda is both in control and out of control and the more episodes we get the more things are sure to unravel. Also knowing this ties into the next Doctor Strange movie, we can't help but think there's no happy ending to this show. This episode peeled back a little bit more of the curtain and we can't wait for more to be revealed next episode.   Like what you hear? Star Trek Discovery S3E11-13 Review - Entertaining but...

The crew is back to discuss the last three episodes of Discovery, which we all agree were entertaining but not up to the standard Discovery set with its first two seasons.  We don't appreciate them putting Owo in peril or making her the great savior, the Sphere was not used well at all, the source of The Burn seemed tacked on, and while we have wanted Burnham in the captain's chair, how she arrived to it was a disservice to her character and the show.  We also discuss the transition from CBS All Access to the Paramount Network and other Star Trek industry news.    Like what you hear? WandaVision Episodes 1 & 2 Review This Ends Poorly

The first series from Marvel Studios on Disney+ is here and of course we have to add it to the Super Tuesday Recap rotation. WandaVision is different and weird (and scary if you know where they could possibly be going). The first two episodes dropped on Friday and honestly, they generate more questions than answers. On the surface the show has some really great homages to sitcoms from the 50's, 60's & 70's. Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany seem to be having a blast with it. But just under the surface there are references and reveals that could have big impacts on the MCU. First of all, we've got ourselves a new agency (officially) to deal with. The S.W.O.R.D. (the Sentient Weapons Observation Response Department) is clearly playing a role in series. Also there are some interesting characters that pop up in some of the references (Go rewatch the animated opening to episode 2 again). Then there's just some of the things that we've all kinda forgotten. Like all of the trauma that Wanda has gone through since Age of Ultron. The fact that both Wanda and Vision are directly tied to the Mind Stone. Funny thing is, while we know she's really powerful, we don't really know what Wanda's real powers are. And in the first episode we watch her turn raw chicken into eggs. Then literally create life by making herself pregnant. We should all be very afraid. Listen as Kriss, Ro and Dpalm talk about these 2 episodes and try to connect some dots and hints that might give clues as to what the show is doing. We have lots of thoughts and honestly, can't wait to see what Feige and crew are really up to.     Like what you hear? Star Trek Discovery S3E8-10 Review - Emperor Georgiou, First of Her Name

The Discovery crew returns!  We discuss saying goodbye to our favorite sociopathic Empress, the search for Saru's catch phrase, and process how we are feeling about Star Trek returning to a potential episodic television series as opposed to an arc based series.  It's a shift, for sure...but after two strong storytelling seasons it is a bit discombobulating for us.  Great performances still remain, however, and we will be here for the long haul.    Like what you hear? Make Mine Marvel - Mailbag #38

It's the end of the decade that's been the year 2020 and we're here with the final Mailbag of this long, rough year. The good news is that we're wrapping up on (mostly) a good note because the Disney Investor Day presentation gave us so much to be excited for from LucasFilms and Marvel. The next few years are going to bring us a lot of new Star Wars and it feels like they're following the Marvel method of telling these interconnecting stories using Disney+ shows. And on the Marvel side? Well we're getting: Ironheart Armor Wars Secret Invasion Ms Marvel She-Hulk and so much more We got trailers for Captain America...I mean The Falcon and The Winter Solider, Loki and What If?  And on top of all that, the First Family is finally getting the Marvel Studios treatment. Fantastic Four is in development as a Marvel Studios property. Of course we couldn't get out of the year without more news from WB/DC. First, WB has gone full desperate and is putting their full 2021 slate of movies on HBO Max. We know its desperation because they didn't tell any of the exhibitors, partners or directors they were doing it. And some people are NOT happy about that.  On the DC side, we have at least an ounce of a hint of some type of planning for their future. Here's the link to the interview DC Films President Walter Hamada did with the New York  Times. It's an interesting piece that gives a little bit of hope (but also some worry) about the future of DC Films and if they can turn things around. The good news is, they seem to understand they need more collaboration. The bad news is, AT&T seems to be pushing really hard to force them to put things on HBO Max. But really, with all the stuff coming to Disney+ between Star Wars and Marvel, we can't leave 2020 upset at this point. What a time to be alive. Star Trek Discovery S3 E6 &7 Review - The Stephen King/Bioware/Star Trek Universe

The crew is back to discuss episodes 6 and 7 because WHAT THE ENTIRE BLOODY HELL SARU?  Listen, we get it-Burnham absolutely had that demotion coming.  She was season 1 episode 2 Burnham without the restraint of Vulcan ideals.  But TILLY?  On a ship with other more qualified, more seasoned, more titled people?  We like Tilly but we owe Kriss an apology for his Captain Calamari jokes.  We also discuss the possibility that Discovery may have hit its sophomore slump, because the show feels a bit adrift, as well as Sonequa's choice for whisper acting to convey gravity (spoiler: it doesn't work for us.). We also discuss the parallels between these episodes and Stephen King's short story The Running Man as well as the Bioware/Mass Effect references.     Like what you hear? Columbusing Comics - Mailbag #37

We really want to get through one month in 2020 without talking about "Zack Snyder's Justice League" but he just won't let us. Every time we get close to ending the month, he says something stupid. This time he's taken to "fixing" how the Flash saves people. Zack Snyder hasn't met a non-existent problem in comics he won't try to 'fix'.  But we're not going to let this idiocy ruin all of our joy. The Miles Morales game is great. Kriss & Dpalm give a preview of what their premium discussion about that game will be. We also talk about not being ready for what Feige and the MCU have in store for us with Wandavision, WB making the obvious moves to drum up support for HBO Max with Wonder Woman 1984, Chris Claremont talks the moment that ruined Cyclops and what the future of the CW "Arrowverse" could be with all the cancellations.    Kriss and Dpalm record the Mailbag at the end of every month. Star Trek Discovery S3E2 - 5 Review - No Welcome Signs

The crew is back to discuss episodes 2-5 of Discovery.  Our crew reunites but find no safe harbor, and the reality of the decision they've made and all they have lost as a result hits them hard.  They also discover that their joy of what Starfleet means hasn't survived to their current time, as everywhere they go they are met with hostility and distrust.  Finally, we discuss why Adira seemed cool at first, then cooled on us, and how we are totally team Gray, including a way we could have kept both characters without them leaning into the "kill the LGBT" character trope that is too prevalent in modern television.   Like what you hear? October 2020 Mailbag: Agendas

It's the end of October so it's time for another Mailbag episode. Kriss and Dpalm go through listener emails, hot topics and discuss their Pull-List for the month. This month there was only one email but it covered most of the things we were going to discuss anyway. And unfortunately that means continuing to talk about the Saga of the SnyderCut. Between the exploding budget and Ray Fisher's claims of abuse with zero corroboration (and more than a hint of the same coopting of language used by GamerGate, ComicsGate and more), there's just so much fuckery. But it's not all bad. We also talk about our Emily Blunt/John Krasinski agenda, Oscar Isaac as Moon Knight  and Green Lantern finally getting a series green light for HBO Max. There is light at the end of the tunnel Topics: Oscar Isaac is reportedly in talks to play Moon Knight Kriss & Dpalm's "Agenda" - John  Krasinski  & Emily Blunt for Sue & Reed Shang-Chi wraps filming Ray Fisher's Forbes Interview is a mess WB Bet on Tenet and Lost Green Lanterns are finally coming to TV under Berlanti  Kriss and Dpalm record the Mailbag at the end of every month. Star Trek Lower Decks Finale Review

We are back to wrap up our coverage of Star Trek Lower Decks.  This irreverent addition to the franchise was a joy to watch from beginning to end.  Additionally, we find ourselves discussing the DS9 Documentary as well as plans for a potential reboot/continuation of DS9 as well as CBS' plan to make Star Trek to show that built their streaming platform, given that they have Treks planned out to 2027.     Like what you hear? Star Trek DiscoveryS3E1 Review - That Hope is You

The Discovery Crew is back to review the premiere of Season 3, which finds Michael emerging in 930 years in the future.  However, the Discovery is nowhere to be found, and she quickly has to adjust to life in a new world-one where the Federation no longer exists.  We also meet Aditya Sahil, a character who is so adorable and sweet and must be protected at all costs, as well as Cleveland Book (David Ajala, Supergirl), who continues the tradition of Black holy men in science fiction having a name that includes the word Book in it.  We also discuss the fandom and learning to just enjoy what you like without the need to explain it to others.    Like what you hear? New & Not Improved - Mailbag #35

Kriss and Dpalm are back with a new Mailbag episode for September and they have a special plea. Can Warner Brothers, DC, and Zack Snyder take October off because we're really tired of talking about their fuck ups. Seriously, 2020 has been stressful enough, can we get one month where we don't have to scream internally (and on the podcast) at all of DC's really dumb unforced errors? This month we finally get the confirmation that the "SnyderCut" never existed and needs $70 million more to be finished. Also DC's finally giving us a "DC Unlimited", except it's just DC Universe without all the streaming content for the same price as DC Universe. *bangs head on desk* Topics: Surprise,  the SnyderCut needs more money Aldis Hodge to play Hawkman (eventually) in Black Adam WTF is Ray Fisher doing? Star Trek Lower Decks S1E3-6 Review - Staying in their Lane

The Star Trek Crew is back to discuss episodes 3-6 of Lower Decks, reveling in the fact that the characters are very realistic and relatable.  While we love the other Star Trek properties, the characters in those shows are more aspirational.  These characters feel very real and grounded.  Also, this show is BLOODY in a way we did not really see coming, giving us allegories on the dangers of abusing technology, the challenges with not paying attention to your relationships, and discussions around being okay with your station in life.  We also discuss Gina Carano on Twitter and coming Star Trek news.    Like what you hear? Trust Us This Time - Mailbag #34

It's the end of August so it's time for another Mailbag episode. This month Kriss and Dpalm get to do a "special" episode because WB just completed the first part of their now two part DC FanDome virtual experience. They released trailers and had panels on some of their highly anticipated (and delayed) movies. And well...we're here to tell you why you shouldn't believe a goddamn thing coming from WB cause they haven't earned that trust. WB has a history of treating DC like an IP farm and not really caring about the properties and we're tired of caring more about them than the billion dollar campaign that owns them. It also doesn't give us confidence in their announcements when the week of this huge virtual event, they were laying off staff that gutted DC Comics, burying DC Universe, cancelling good comics and changing their massive 24-hour event into a 2-day event with the second part not coming until September.  It's almost as if they don't have a plan and you shouldn't believe anything coming out of their mouths Kriss and Dpalm record the Mailbag at the end of every month. Agents of SHIELD Series Finale Review

It's finally here. Seven years. Seven seasons. The end of an era. This is a bittersweet episode. The Super Tuesday Recap podcast exists because of Agents of SHIELD. We called it "Super Tuesday Recap" cause AoS used to come on Tuesday along with The Flash. Seven years later and while the show has switched days multiple time, we've been there to review and discuss for every episode. So while we loved this season and these last two episode are absolutely fantastic, there's still a little sadness that this is the end. At the same time, we have to celebrate the way this show goes out. It plays on our emotions and still gives us the happy ending. There are payoffs from season 1 that clearly make this a love letter to the fans that have been there since day one.  Kriss and Dpalm are joined by Karen from The Black Guy Who Tips to give a finale "Spy's Goodbye" to the Agents of SHIELD. We talk about these two episodes and some of our favorite moments, why Agents of SHIELD felt different from any other show on TV, our favorite season/episode and more. Give it a listen.   Like what you hear? Agents of SHIELD S7E11 Brand New Day Review

The end is almost here and we're definitely not ready for it. This week it was announced that there will be a prop auction for Agents of SHIELD and that suddenly made it real that the show is finally coming to an end. But we're not there just yet. This week, Iain De Caestecker finally makes his season 7 appearance and we get a few more hints as to the whereabouts of Fitz but it doesn't feel like we're going to like the answers. On top of that it seems that Sybil and Nathan have finally gotten what they wanted and destroyed SHIELD. But we also get confirmation that this is definitely an alternate timeline (we have thoughts on when the split actually happened and its before this season). So while it seems like the bad guys have won right now, we see some openings for the team to right everything. And we know when they do it, they'll do it as a family. We'll be watching the series (still hard to say this) finale live on Wednesday. Then the final MTR Network Agents of SHIELD review will have our friend and special guest, Karen from the Black Guy Who Tips Podcast on.    Like what you hear? Commitment Issues - Mailbag #33

It's the end of July 2020 so it's time for another Mailbag episode. Kriss and Dpalm go through listener emails, hot topics and discuss their Pull-List for the month. This month we're once again asking DC...or rather...WB...to tell us what the plan is. We're starting to think WB has commitment issues (okay who are we kidding, we KNOW they have commitment issues). DC Universe (no not the MMO...yeah, they're really bad at naming and branding) is not even 2 years old and yet all the signs are pointing to WB dropping it for HBO Max (which is also having a terrible roll out). Between this, the flip flopping on the SnyderCut as well as all the announced live action movies that we've seen no movement on, it's really becoming hard to get excited for DC Fandom since there's no guarantee that there will be any follow through. Topics: Zack  Snyder says the SnyderCut is 3.5 hours long...what could go wrong? WB's strategy with DC makes no sense DC Universe seems to be dying...all we want is the comics DC. Claims that Jeph Loeb cut the development of Asian characters on Daredevil Season 2 Kriss and Dpalm record the Mailbag at the end of every month. Agents of SHIELD S7E10 Stolen Review

We're only three episodes away from the series finale of Agents of SHIELD. And technically we're only 2 away because the finale episode is always 2 episodes. When we say it out loud it makes us both sad and very, very afraid. It's sad that we're so close to the end of this great series. It's frightening because we can only imagine how this show is going to wrap everything up and the fate of these characters. This episode proves that the "ripples not waves" rules are completely out of the window at this point. While the team stopped the majority of the Chronicoms, Sybil and Nathan (along with some choices made by the team itself) have clearly changed the timeline. The question then becomes, how does all this get wrapped up and what happens now? Also, where is Fitz and what has he done? We've gone 10 episodes without seeing  him and for a moment, this episode even makes us wonder if he's even alive. But Sybil seems to think he is and Simmons is clearly the key to finding him.  We have some theories on what is going to happen next and Kriss seems to make a surprise promise that is years in the making (Of course he could just be trolling everyone).   Like what you hear? Agents of SHIELD S7E9 Review As I Have Always Been

Gotta love this show. First off, congrats to Elizabeth Henstridge for a wonderfully directed episode. Time loops episodes might seem like simple episodes to do but they're not. To make a good time loop episode it really comes down to building on the well defined characters and relationships as well as the cast knowing how to make subtle changes in their performances and this episode really does that. Agents of SHIELD also is written to really trust that the audience will get it.  This time loops starts halfway (maybe even 3/4) through the loops.  This episode gives us an emotional sendoff for Enoch, some great "Father/Daughter" moments between Daisy and Coulson, confirms Daisy still has her powers, gives us a Daisy/Sousa relationship (or potential one) and gives us some really deep moments to think about family,  life and what it means to be alive. All in one episode. Oh and it makes us all realize that asking "Where is Fitz?" is going to lead to some answers we don't think any of us want.   Like what you hear? Agents of SHIELD S7E8 Review Therapy Fighting

This week the Agents are still in the 80's but we take a trip to a place we've been before in previous seasons: After Life. To help fix the time drive, Elena needs her speed back and to figure out what's wrong, they need someone familiar with Inhumans. Enter Jiaying, Daisy's mother. There are several key things that happen this episode: May's "empathy" powers are increasing. She now doesn't have to touch someone to feel what they're feeling Elena's powers were never gone, she was just holding herself back. Also turns out that when she uses her powers, she doesn't have to bounce back to the place she started. She's just a regular speedster Jiaying had another daughter (Daisy has a sister) who was supposed to die but has now teamed up with Malik (who is now evil Quake). With Nathan taking over Afterlife and driving Jiaying and Gordon out, it makes me wonder if this is when Jiaying meets up with Calvin Zabo and conceives Daisy? That last one there brings up the interesting question again of how much is actually changing in the history of Shield and the Agents. Maybe in some ways all these things were meant to happen. It will be interesting seeing how all this plays out. Also it's well past the time to start worrying about where Fitz is.    Like what you hear? Agents of Shield S7E7 Review The Deke Squad

At this point why even review this season of Agents of SHIELD? There's just no point because it's so good and so fun. This episode is full of 80's cliches and winks to the audience and we love it. Which is good because the episode starts off pretty rough and sad following Mack dealing with the reality that his parents are dead and that his younger self and brother are having to be raised by their uncle.  On top of that, it's really starting to look like the agents are becoming fully ingrained in the history of SHIELD. Mack and Deke being left 1982 seems more like part of the plan (Like Enoch being left in episode 2) than a mistake. Also we're starting to get close to the team having to interact with their own history from the show and we can't wait.   Like what you hear? Agents of SHIELD S7E6 Adapt or Die

Shame what happened to Mack's parents... We think the Chromicons undersold it when they said they were going to "Play Dirty" going forward. This is just downright evil. It also opens up a lot of questions. Why would the Chromicons replace and kill Mack's parents instead of just killing and replace Mack? What is keeping the Chromicons from attacking the Agents directly? The answer might come down to Sybil aka, the Predictor. She's clearly got a larger plan in place and not only sees all the threads but all the possibilities happening in the timeline. It also seems like she's basing the changes to the time line on percentages of predictability and maybe killing the agents directly is just too high of a risk.  This week we got a  bit more information on what's going on with Simmons and some hints as to where Fitz is. Also, there's more and more evidence that at some point we're going to end up back at where we started with all the Agents. Once again proving that the show's tagline of "It's All Connected" is really true.   Like what you hear? Agents of SHIELD S7E5 Throwback

The Chronicoms told Coulson they were done playing nice and they weren't playing. Having Project Insight start 40 years before it was supposed to brings up a lot of questions. It's one of the reasons why this show is so good and why it's going to be missed. They love to establish rules to get you thinking one way then change them to take us in a whole other direction. We start the season talking about "ripples not waves" when making changes to the timeline but its clear that some waves are definitely happening. From Project Insight to Freddie and his son Nathan still being alive, its now become a question of what how much can change but still result in the Chronicom world being destroyed. We also have three big questions: What's going on with that device in Simmons neck and why was she starting to forget things the longer she was away from Enoch? Can Enoch still be trusted? Where. Is. Fitz?????? Also we love the throwback SHIELD uniforms. We didn't know we wanted this but we're glad we got it. Agents of SHIELD S7E4 Review Agents of Status Quo

Well apparently Dpalm writes for Agents of SHIELD now because he was absolutely right about this show was going to do with Daniel Sousa. What's so great about Agents of SHIELD is that they always drop hints as to what they're going to do. They told us a couple episodes ago that removing someone from the timeline could effectively be like killing them and not messing up the timeline and now we have 1955 Daniel Sousa time hopping with the other Agents of SHIELD. How can you not love this show? Also, we're really coming full circle here with SHIELD vs Hydra. It's really exciting to see where this ends up. There's two big questions: 1. where in the present do the Agents end up and 2. Where is Fitz!?!? It will also be interesting to see how what's happening with YoYo and May ends up tying everything from last season together. This show is so good.   Like what you hear? Agents of SHIELD S7E3 Moist Review

Leave it to the Agents to find a hilarious way to interrogate people to see if they're Chronicoms. Listen, "moist" is a weird word that is going to get some kind of reaction from a human. This show always finds ways to insert humor into the most serious situations.  While we're still holding out for our Agent Peggy Carter appearance, it was great to see Daniel Sousa show up. Even better is the tie-in to him trying to expose the fact that SHIELD and other government agencies have been infiltrated (by what we know is Hydra) Dpalm has a pretty good theory on what can happen with Sousa and it ties into something that was brought up inn the first two episodes We love the team-ups on this show that also reveal deeper issues and get into more character development. Both May and YoYo are both struggling with the effects of what happened to them last season Gotta love how seamless this show brings up the racism and sexism of the time periods. It's not heavy handed but also not ignored. For a show with a cast as diverse as Agents of SHIELD, we appreciate them bringing up the fact that the 1950's weren't that great for certain groups Once again, gotta say, the Chronicoms plans aren't that bad. They are villains but they have a pretty good villain plain Where is Fitz? How long was Simmons "gone" to build all of what she built and gain this knowledge? We know the reveal is gonna be  mind blowing We continue to love  how this final season is bringing us full circle with SHIELD and Hydra and can't wait for the next episode.   Like what you hear? Agents of SHIELD S7E2 Review Calvary May

Agents of SHIELD always finds new ways to throw in wrinkles and up the stakes and this last season is no different. In the first episode Simmons told us that they wouldn't know when the next time wave would pull them to the next moment in time but with everything else going on we kinda forgot about it. And it seems like the other Agents kinda glossed over that as well. Now Enoch is stuck in the past with Koenig and we now have to wonder, was this always part of the timeline? Did SHIELD's existence always come from this team protecting the future? We don't know but we like where this is going. What's up with May? Has she just resorted back to Calvary May or is she an incomplete LMD/Chronicom? Of course it's Super Soldier serum We love this Simmons We know what side of the"Would you kill baby Hitler?" hypothetical Daisy is on Enoch got an upgrade that gave him some hands but...it's still a robot trying to fight Agent May If you want to shoot us an email about Agents of SHIELD, send it to [email protected] and put "Agents of SHIELD" in the subject and we will read it next episode.   Like what you hear? Legends of Tomorrow S5E15 Swan Thong Review

Considering this is a show that once ended the season with a giant Beebo doll fighting a demon, we thought we were prepared for the season 5 finale of Legends of Tomorrrow. We were wrong. We weren't prepared for a cameo by Sisqo performing the Thong Song during the finale fight. Like..how could we? But before we got there, we got the absolutely hilarious "Congrats" video from the rest of the Arrowverse. This show is so fun. Things we loved: The theme of family coming together throughout the entire season The original Zari sacrificing herself to save Behrad  Mick and Lita's relationship  The Hall of Bad Ideas (The shakeweight was a terrible idea) The final fight taking place with the Thong Song Playing Sisqo performing the Thong Song like its 1999 John Constantine's character arc And there's so much more. Seriously, this is a masterfully written show that is ridiculous but never jumps the shark and knows just when to get serious. We can't wait for next season and what we can only assume is aliens. Welcome to the Clown Show - Mailbag #31

When we decided to combine the April and May Mailbag episodes we weren't anticipating May turning into being 6 months long. Obviously we have the elephant in the room to deal with: The Snyder Cut is real!!  Ok not really. Apparently Snyder has been lying to us all and his "Snyder Cut" wasn't actually done. But because it's a clown show over at WB when it comes to DC live action movies, he was able to get WB to reverse their earlier decision and now his "Snydercut" Justice League film will be released in 2021 on HBO Max. Sure, it might cause an additional 30 - 80 million dollars to complete but what's the harm right? It's not like this reverses the positive strides the DCEU was making to move on from the terribleness. It's not like it's a dumb decision that gives into a fanbase that also overlapped heavily with the problematic GamerGate and ComicsGate shit heads. Nope. Nothing like that. Tune in as Kriss & Dpalm have a few thoughts about this recent development along with some other topics, including Dpalm putting on his dancing shoes to dance on the potential grave for Diamond Distributors. It's a fun show everyone. Strap in  Topics: Emails Marvel Studios moving towards Young Avengers? Apparently there was some news from WB/DC that generated a bunch of email comments. Wonder what that was.... Topics WB reverses course on the SnyderCut Turns out Snyder lied and the "SnyderCut" isn't done It's gonna cost how much?  What is WB's end goal/plan for its DC movies? Agents of Shield Season 7x1 Review The King is Back - Super Tuesday Recap

Oh it's been too long. WAY TOO LONG. But The King is Back. Agents of SHIELD is back for it's seventh and final season. Oh how we've missed this show. This season is picking up right where we left off last season and is promising to bring us full circle. To save SHIELD in the future the team has to save Hydra? Oh yeah let's do it. Between Agents and Legends of Tomorrow, we have two shows that know how to have a fun time but also hit us in our feelings right when we least expected it. Seeing LMD Coulson get the rush of emotions of experiencing all that he's been through the last 2 years including his death and final goodbyes was rough. But it's also nice to know that he's basically the same Coulson with the same bad jokes (with a basic super power upgrade).  Also gotta appreciate the racism and sexism they slipped into the episode sine the team is back in 1931. I mean, Mack might be Director of SHIELD but he's still a large black man in 1931. We appreciate the historical accuracy.  Listen as we discuss this episode and strap in, it's gonna be a fun finale season.   Like what you hear? Legends of Tomorrow S5E14 Ultimate Buds Review

It's a TV show(s) inside of a TV show. Once again we're left asking "How can you not love Legends of Tomorrow?" Charlie "saved" the Legends by resuming her role as one of the Fates and putting the Legends on TV shows that gave each Legend what they "wanted". Of course that doesn't go as planned because when do the Legends ever behave like little good boys and girls? Once again sounding like a broken record, this episode does a great job of balancing the ridiculousness (Ultimate Buds!!!) with the serious (Ava remembering seeing Sara die, Behrad remembering he's dead on every timeline and John making a sacrifice so Astra can be happy). This show is so great.  Kriss and Dpalm record the Mailbag at the end of every month. If you want to send in your own questions and thoughts, email us: [email protected]   Like what you hear? Supergirl S5E19 Review – Ether - Super Tuesday Recap

Photo courtesy of the CW Apologies for the late podcast. Quarantine might have taken Supergirl out early but we're still working hard.  So...we knew we were leaving off on a cliffhanger but it's nice to see it works like old school ones.  Kara dropped a lot of burns on Lena-well deserved burns.  We are still not fans of them saving the world with an inspirational speech but...hey it's Supergirl.  Lex doing Lex stuff is awesome, Brainy needs to go ahead and complete this heel turn and become the villain we deserve, J'onn and M'Gann are cute but it's hard seeing their human selves in those Martian suits.  Where is Cisco when we need him?   Like what you hear? Legends of Tomorrow S5E13 Review - Get In Losers We're Going Looming

We're not gonna let the latest news from WB get us down (Ruby Rose exiting Batwoman and WB caves to the lunatics with the "Snydercut"). We'll save all that for next week's Mailbag episode. Instead we're going to focus on the greatness that is Legends of Tomorrow. Get in losers, we're going looming. No one can waste 24 hours of immortality like the Legends Gary tries the "save the day" and fails cause...Gary Nice to  see Amy Louise Pemberton in the flesh again as Gideon Zari and John finally cut through the sexual tension (Nate stays losing) Another week, another episode of the Legends parodying pulp culture As always, it's great to see this show balance ridiculous with the serious (lot of reflections on death this episode). It helps when its clear the cast really enjoys hanging out with each other. Kriss and Dpalm record the Mailbag at the end of every month. Supergirl Season 5 Episode 18 Review: So Smart They're Stupid - Super Tuesday Recap

Brainy and Lena are the dumbest smart people in the CW universe.  You both KNOW what Lex was like pre-crisis cause you have your memories-why in the HELL are you still trusting him?  Especially you Lena.  Big dummy.  Brainy and Nia being apart does not work for either of us.  Lena being this dense and stupid is exhausting to watch.   We also came up with a fool proof plan to incorporate Melissa Benoist's pregnancy seamlessly into the show-but it requires that Will comes back next season.   Like what you hear? Legends of Tomorrow S5E12 Review Pledging Legends

Apparently there are people that review Legends of Tomorrow seriously. We do not understand how that is possible. I mean they just did an episode where they hit every possible Frat/Sorority movie trope there is. HOW DO YOU TAKE THAT SERIOUSLY? This isn't a review, but an appreciation for greatness. Our only real complaint is trying to figure out where they came up with that version of beer pong. I mean in the age of corona, beer pong is clearly dead but that won't keep us for thinking about the "good ole days"  Kriss and Dpalm record the Mailbag at the end of every month. The Flash S6E19 Review Mirror Master Wins

The pandemic has cut this season of The Flash short which is a shame because this was a really good season. And all things considered, this finale made the best of the situation and put together a pretty solid finale that ends with the villain winning and some really interesting prospects for the next season.  Eva as Mirror Master is going to give Barry and Team Flash all  kinds of problems. Add in her own team of dangerous female villains and we don't see an easy way out of this one for the team Gotta love how they let Danielle Panabaker be a part of this entire season through her pregnancy. Other shows have written off their female characters when an actress gets pregnant but Danielle not only directed an episode  but also had her character appear in more episodes than Carlos Valdes or Jesse L Martin We end the season with Barry still not having his powers at 100%. We have clues as to how he gets them back but this puts us in a really interesting position to start season 7 There's still a lot of open threads that will be fun to explore: Barry's Powers What Eva really wants How do Iris, Kamilla and Singh escape the mirrorverse and what happened to Iris at the end? What is Bloodwork's long game? Kudos to the show  for making us give a shit about Bloodwork What's going on with Godspeed? When is Thawne going to return to fuck up Barry's life even more? Supergirl S5E17 Review We Been Knew

Image courtesy of The CW Network C'mon...how could Lex not have been masterminding stuff behind the scenes after Crises?  This entire latter half of the season stinks of his influence.  We discuss Lex's machinations, the impact of COVID-19 on the rest of the season, J'onn needing an on site love, and Kara being real damn dumb by not reactivating the anti-Luthor protocol in the Fortress after Lena tried to grab Myriad THE FIRST TIME!   Like what you hear?
