Ep 34: I Think, Therefore I Draw w/ Jeff Barlow

Over in Seattle, in a well-seasoned bar, somewhere in a single situated chair with a particularly choice view sits our guest today, Mr. Jeff Barlow, waiting. He’s got a sketchpad, stuff to draw with, and an impressive ability to trust his own process in the moment - the envy of any creative. The band, who’s about to provide live music for the night, is about to have their picture taken, and not in the way they’re probably used to. Draw it in One, Jeff’s professional tagline, refers to how he approaches his sketches. He draws the band in, well, one song. The result is raw and often emotional moments of what he sees in front of him in that amount of time. I think his work is a fantastic example of how trusting the process can be riveting, scary, and beautiful. I, an overthinker, find a lot of lessons in that.Check out Jeff's work at @Drawitin1 and his website: drawitin.oneVisit our website: sustainableculture.onlineFollow us on instagram @sustainablecultureonline

Karmen’s been in the field for over seven years, has a ton of education, including the PhD she’s currently working on. It’s amazing how we forget just how nurturing the act of preparing and eating food for yourself is. How self-caring that truly is. Food is truly connected to so much more than we realize in our busy, plugged-in lives. When we have the right help understanding how to repair our relationship with what we eat, we can change everything about our health, how we see ourselves, and every aspect of life.

Ep 21: What Does Community Mean to You? Pt. 2 w/Brian Seguin

The intelligent and ever-resourceful Brian Seguin returns to conclude our discussion on who and what is included in a community. How do you feel belonging in your community? Do you feel at home where you are? Who or what makes you feel at home; and how do those distinctions affect your perspective on who or what a community is composed of? Satish Kumar says, "We have to shift our attitude of ownership of nature to relationship with nature. The moment you change from ownership to relationship, you create a sense of the sacred." The same connections apply with our local coexisting human beings. Why are we so passionate about what we believe? How did our identities become what they are? How would sustainability mindsets and environmentalism movements change if I learned how to integrate my pain, my trauma and even my grief into the rest of my life, even my passions and relationships? How would my own self-acceptance affect my community?Join in and buckle up tight for a discussion on why honoring your experiences has a deep and direct effect on the health of individuals and the collective community. Ep 10: Listening to Each Other - The Cure for Divisiveness

We’re dealing with a profound amount of division in today’s day and age. Are those who disagree with us the enemy, or perhaps an unlikely ally? Is it too idealistic to strive for a society which values its differences in opinion, rather than one which demonizes those who differ on viewpoints? Join me as I discuss how we can push past this cultural roadblock while we strive for true synergy in today’s divided world.
