Andrew is probably best known for his series of books featuring protagonist Nathan McBride and we are excited to have this opportunity to Chat with Andrew on the heels of the release of his new book CONTRACT TO KILL, book 5 of the Nathan McBride series. Of course after our interview with Andrew Peterson, we’ll be up to all of our usual fun with our Brewskis beer tasting segment, TBones Timeout, USC legend Anthony Davis, as well as our crazy thoughts about interesting news stories of the day. Swoop’s World Late Night is on Wednesday’s from 8pm/PST – 11pm/PST tune in at Swoopsworld.com. Andrew Peterson Born and raised in San Diego, California, Andrew attended La Jolla High School before enrolling at the University of Oklahoma, where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Architecture. Andrew began writing fiction in 1990. He sold a short story, Mr. Haggarty’s Stop, to San Diego Writers Monthly in October, 1992. He continued to write, exploring both the novel form and screenplays. After attending his first writer’s conference in 2005, he became serious about writing the Nathan McBride stories. FIRST TO KILL was Andrew’s debut thriller which features Nathan McBride, the “brutally effective” trained Marine Corps scout sniper and CIA operations officer. It launched as a mass-market paperback from Leisure Fiction in 2008. Costco Wholesale made a regional purchase of FIRST TO KILL and carried it in 97 warehouses in five western states, CA, AZ, CO, UT, and NV. Over a three-week period, Andrew visited 91 Costco locations where he signed stock and spoke with members. While on his book signing tour, Andrew took time to visit VA hospitals and sit with our nation’s veterans. He gave away hundreds of books. In Phoenix, he had the honor of meeting a Pearl Harbor Survivor and one of the last remaining Navajo code talkers. To date, Andrew has donated over 2,000 books to our troops serving overseas and to our wounded warriors recovering in Naval and Army hospitals all over the world. Shortly after FIRST TO KILL was sold, Audible.com purchased the audio rights, and FTK became an instant bestseller, reaching #7 on Audible.com’s website. In 2010, FIRST TO KILL reached another milestone. The film rights were sold to two Hollywood producers with their offices at the Paramount Lot in Los Angeles. Andrew’s second Nathan McBride novel, FORCED TO KILL, launched as an exclusive audiobook in May, 2010, from Audible.com and it climbed a notch higher, reaching #6 on Audible’s bestseller list. In August of 2012, Thomas & Mercer, Amazon’s Publishing’s mystery/thriller imprint, purchased the rights to three Nathan McBride books. OPTION TO KILL, the third in the series, launched as an exclusive Kindle eBook and was included in Amazon’s new Kindle Serials project. Here are the Nathan McBride books in the order they were written: FIRST TO KILL (originally published September 2008) FORCED TO KILL (May 2010) OPTION TO KILL (September 2012) READY TO KILL (April 2014) CONTRACT TO KILL (August 2015) The post Andrew Peterson on Swoop’s World Late Night appeared first on Swoop's World Radio.

Joan Benedict Steiger on Swoop’s World Late NIght

Joan Benedict Steiger On Wednesday June 10, 2015 at 8pm/PST (10pm/CST, 11pm/EST) we welcome veteran actress of television, film, and stage, Joan Benedict Steiger to Swoop’s World Late Night. Of course after our interview with Joan Benedict Steiger, we’ll be up to all of our usual fun with our usual fun with our Brewskis beer tasting segment, TBones Timeout, USC legendAnthony Davis, as well as our crazy thoughts about interesting news stories of the day. Swoop’s World Late Night is on Wednesday’s from 8pm/PST – 11pm/PST tune in at Swoopsworld.com. Joan Benedict Steiger Decades of work on stage, screen, and television and the love of three devoted men sounds like a full life; but in many ways, the story is just beginning for veteran performer Joan Benedict Steiger. With credits dating back to the original “Candid Camera” on television to her acclaimed solo performance as Leona Helmsley, she has lived the artistic life she first dreamed of as a child in Brooklyn, New York – and the dream shows no signs of ending. “I always thought when I was little I would be a dancer,” Joan recalls today. “I was never really built for ballet, but I was tap dancing in public at age seven when I performed at the Brooklyn Academy of Music. I remember the first film I ever saw was with Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, and as I was leaving the theatre, I wanted to run back in, I knew I had to be a part of that world.” Her list of stage credits include acclaimed productions of contemporary offerings such as “Promises, Promises,” “The Beauty Queen of Leenane,” “Collected Stories” by Donald Margulies, P.J. Barry’s “The Octette Bridge Club,” Horton Foote’s “The Traveling Lady,” and Morris West’s “The World is Made of Glass;” opposite Don Knotts in the comedy “The Mind with the Dirty Man;” classics like “Richard III,” “The Dyubbuk,” and “Dr. Faustus;” and her two solo shows, “Leona” (about notorious “Queen of Mean” Leona Helmsley) and the recent “The Loves of My Life,” based on her own life. On screen, she also co-starred with Knotts and Tim Conway in the comedy “The Prizefighter.” Indeed, perhaps Joan Benedict Steiger’s career is all the more remarkable for having endured through three long-term relationships, to what she describes as “three of the greatest guys in the world.” While marriages between professional actors are often fraught with jealousy and competition, Joan has found lightning in a bottle all three times. “Both of my husbands, and my lifetime partner Jeremy, were wonderful men who respected me as an actress,” she recalls. “They all died from different forms of cancer, so my memories are sometimes bittersweet, but with no regrets.” Throughout her life, Joan Benedict Steiger has worked simultaneously on stage, in film, and on television. She’s still remembered for a classic bit from the original version of “Candid Camera,” where she played a lost tourist looking for directions from passersby, making sure that her fancy hat – beplumed with a particularly large feather – would distract them at every opportunity. She was also part of the ensemble of the original “Steve Allen Show,” where she did double duty as the spokesperson for Hazel Bishop cosmetics. On daytime drama, she had regular and recurring roles on “General Hospital,” “Days of our Lives,” and “Capitol.” Her dozens of series guest appearances include classic series like “Fantasy Island,” “T.J. Hooker,” “The Incredible Hulk” and, most recently, Fox’s “Dollhouse.” Joan was awarded the “Eternity Award” for “lifetime achievements that have made a lasting contribution to the world of theatre” recently at the Los Angeles Women’s Theatre Festival. She is also preparing to write her memoirs. The post Joan Benedict Steiger on Swoop’s World Late NIght appeared first on Swoop's World Radio.

In Douglas Coleman’s case, he continues to pursue the musical dream he has carried since his youth. Coleman set out to have a career in music in the early 1980’s, but became frustrated and opted for the corporate world. Though his musical temperament and the business world were at odds, Coleman stayed his vocational course for over twenty years before surrendering to his muse, leaving his job and the USA for Thailand where he set up a studio and is chasing his musical dream. James Wilder on Swoop’s World Late Night

James Wilder On Wednesday March 11, 2015 at 8pm/PST (10pm/CST, 11pm/EST) we are happy to welcome actor, architect, and designer James Wilder to Swoop’s World Late Night. James is a man of many talents and the lengthy list of accomplishments noted on his resume back that up. Currently he is racking up awards and receiving heaps of praise for his work in the Indie film “Three Holes And a Smoking Gun.” Join us as we have this opportunity to speak to James and learn about all of the wonderful things he does and how he finds the time to do it. Of course after our interview with James Wilder, we’ll be up to all of our usual fun with our Brewskis beer tasting segment, TBones Timeout, USC legend Anthony Davis, as well as our crazy thoughts about interesting news stories of the day. Swoop’s World Late Night is on Wednesday’s from 8pm/PST – 11pm/PST tune in at Swoopsworld.com. James Wilder Neil Young wrote that it’s better to burn out than fade away. But for actor/architect/designer James Wilder neither option is acceptable. Juggling artistic mediums like the three running chainsaws that earned him notoriety on the streets of New York and Los Angeles — and later on stages throughout Europe — Wilder is that rare breed of artist that is not drawn to the flame of fame and fortune but rather the exhilaration of a new challenge. Committing only to that which truly inspires him — be it a film, TV or stage role, designing award-winning Hollywood Hills homes or an exclusive line of leather jackets and jewelry — Wilder has been successfully merging creative spirit with entrepreneurial instincts since his early teens. It was then that he first discovered he could earn more money as a fire-eating/knife-throwing street performer than bagging groceries. And it was far more fun. Almost always judicious in his career decisions, it’s been a while since Wilder found a project compelling enough to distract him from his other ventures. But the opportunity to play a duplicitous washed up screenwriter in the soon-to-be- released indie psychological thriller “Three Holes And a Smoking Gun” (formerly titled “Three Holes, Two Brads, And a Smoking Gun”) was just too juicy a role to pass up. Co-starring Joaquim de Almeida, Rudolf Martin, and Richard Edson, “Three Holes And A Smoking Gun” has since accrued a slew awards — including the “Grand Jury Prize” and “Best Lead Actor” (Wilder) at the 2014 Red Dirt International Film Festival, “Best U.S. Narrative Feature Film” at the 2014 Laughlin International Film Festival, and “Best Screenwriter” (Scott Fivelson) at a 2014 Downtown Film Festival Los Angeles. The film will also screen at the high profile Winter Film Awards in NYC (Feb 26, 2015) and the Garden State Film Festival (March 19-22) in Atlantic City prior to its early spring theatrical release. Raised in the bohemian enclave of Sausalito (outside San Francisco) where he attended an all-boys advanced learning institute, Wilder’s paradoxically liberal upbringing allowed for the kind of creative freedom from which his maverick tendencies were born. At the age of 14 Wilder was living in his mother’s native Paris, regaling audiences with his one man show at such legendary venues as the Moulin Rouge and Lido and later on Broadway. While there, he performed with the Nouveau Cirque De Paris, the precursor to Cirque du Soleil, before making his way to LA where he lived for several years in his customized van. As his legend grew so too did his opportunities, his charisma and movie star good looks soon propelling him into the world of acting. “I never set out to be an actor,” he admits. “But with so many people urging me to give it a shot, I succumbed to the temptation.” It wasn’t long before Wilder nabbed a role in the Broadway hit “Sugar Babies” while studying at the famed NY Actors Studio, at which he was later inducted as a member. Upon returning to LA his impressive range and determination quickly earned him a reputation as a fearless and committed actor. TV and film roles rolled in. Some were great, highlighting his scope, others not so much. But the one thing that remained constant was the recognition of his talent. From his breakout role as the troubled addict son of Ed Asner in the ABC Circle Theater presentation “Cracked Up” to his heralded star turn in the Emmy-award winning one hour legal drama “Equal Justice” (with Sarah Jessica Parker) and evocative characterization of a drug-dealing seducer on “Melrose Place,” Wilder metamorphosizes with Kafka-esque ease from sleaze to tease, charming marauder to murdering psychopath… and virtually every persona in-between. Untrained as an architect or interior designer, Wilder’s keen eye and distinct vision has transformed a dozen empty lots throughout California into panoramic living art. From gothic to baroque, sleekly modern to vintage chic, each of designs boasts a singularly unique aesthetic, one of which was recognized by HGTV as among LA’s top three most outstanding properties alongside a Frank Lloyd Wright design. Slowly the homes he built in his exclusive Hollywood Hills neighborhood have evolved into a loosely-structured artist’s retreat inspired by Elia Kazan, Wilder’s favorite renegade. Annie Leibovitz, Stanley Tucci, Blake Shelton, Tom Ford, Eddie Van Halen, Jesse James, and Stevie Wonder are just a few of the marquee names who have chosen his properties for photo shoots, exclusive events and long-term inspirational living spaces. When not constructing homes, acting or designing, Wilder can often be seen searching for vintage treasures or working on one of his classic cars and Indian motorcycles. Boredom and routine does not suit a man who is fueled by the thrill of the unknown and the rush of a challenge. Seems he’ll always keep us guessing as to his next move. Andrew Peterson on Swoop’s World Late Night

Andrew Peterson On Wednesday March 4, 2015 at 8pm/PST (10pm/CST, 11pm/EST) we are happy welcome Author Andrew Peterson to Swoop’s World Late Night. Andrew is probably best known for his series of books featuring protagonist Nathan McBride. Swoop has stated on numerous occasions that he is a big fan of the series, so needless to say we are thrilled to have the opportunity to chat with Andrew about his books, and the soon to be released CONTRACT TO KILL, book 5 of the Nathan McBride series. Here are the Nathan McBride books in the order they were written: FIRST TO KILL (originally published September 2008) FORCED TO KILL (May 2010) OPTION TO KILL (September 2012) READY TO KILL (April 2014) The post Andrew Peterson on Swoop’s World Late Night appeared first on Swoop's World Radio.

Angela Madsen on Swoop’s World Late Night

Angela Madsen – Photo from Rowoflife.com by Dman Photography On Wednesday February 25, 2015 at 8pm/PST (10pm/CST, 11pm/EST) we are happy welcome the return of Paralympian Angela Madsen to Swoop’s World Late Night. This will be our first opportunity to talk to her since she completed her Military & Veteran Tribute Ocean Row from Long Beach, Ca. to Honolulu, Hi. As many of you know Angela often finishes one adventure and moves right into her next. She is currently training for a return to the Paralympics which will take place the summer of 2016 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Of course after our interview with  Angela Madsen, we’ll be up to all of our usual fun with our Brewskis beer tasting segment, TBones Timeout, USC legend Anthony Davis, as well as our crazy thoughts about interesting news stories of the day. Swoop’s World Late Night is on Wednesday’s from 8pm/PST – 11pm/PST tune in at Swoopsworld.com. Angela Madsen Angela Madsen is an accomplished ocean rower with 6 Guinness World Records for rowing oceans. On June 10, 2013 she set out to row a solo ocean rowing boat with no support boat from California to Hawaii. She was to stay on her little boat the entire time, no one to give her any food or water. She needed to have enough provisions on board to sustain her for as long as the journey was to take. Her goal was to row as many hours a day as she possibly could and try not to drift too far off course while asleep. Her quest to attempt the solo row began with the idea followed by logistical planning, purchase, the shipping and outfitting of a solo rowing boat. It became a tribute row to Veterans of all services and to Spirited Adventurer and her friend Orlando Rogers who was tragically killed in a plane crash on May 15th 2011. He was 26 years of age and was a Royal Marine. Orlando was very supportive of Angela and all of her projects and he was very excited about her intentions to do a solo row. It was during the planning for the row that she felt it would be fitting to make that row a tribute to honor his memory. He wanted and planned on being there for Angela as he was on the Circumnavigation of Great Britain. “Though it will not be the same, he will be there with me for every rowing stroke and every nautical mile. Orlando was a very special and amazing person. The name of my boat shall be The Spirit of Orlando” said Angela. Due to severe weather related problems Angela was forced to abort her California to Hawaii row and leave her boat adrift on the high seas. Her story of getting home, eventually locating her boat and getting it back to her home base is but yet another small chapter in her remarkable story. On  May 20, 2014 Angela and Tara Remington set off from Long Beach, Ca. for their Military & Veteran Tribute Row and arrived in Honolulu, HI. July 19, 2014. Raymond Jacobs on Swoop’s World Late Night

Raymond Jacobs On Wednesday October 1, 2014 at 8pm/PDT (10pm/CDT, 11pm/EDT) we are happy to we welcome the return of author Raymond Jacobs to Swoop’s World Late Night. Last time Raymond was our guest he’d just released his book Gethsemane: An Epic Poem About Us. He joins us this week to discuss the completion of his first audiobook, Gethsemane: The Radio Theatre Experience. Tune in as we learn what went into the making of the audio version, and all of the talented people that participated. Raymond will also be joined by the books musical composer Mark Moya. Of course after our interview with Raymond Jacobs, we’ll be up to all of our usual fun with our Brewskis beer tasting segment, TBones Timeout, USC legend Anthony Davis, as well as crazy insights into any interesting news stories of the day. Swoop’s World Late Night is on Wednesday’s from 8pm/PST – 11pm/PST tune in at Swoopsworld.com. Gethsemane Gethsemane is a sweeping poetic narrative that is a modern day version of John Milton’s Paradise Lost. Philosophically told in three acts from the point-of-view of Lucifer, the story tells of his fall from grace, how his manipulation of his heavenly brothers, The Watchers, brought about the advent of Hell, and how Mankind adopted his ominous nature in making his purgatory (Earth) secular. In the last act, irony finally confronts Lucifer when he realizes the affection he has for a particular woman, and the notion of seeking redemption by virtue of his love for her becomes the seminal moment of his existence, and that of Mankind. This masterwork of R. Douglas Jacobs is now available as an audio book was ambitiously produced by the author, himself, and is homage to one of his iconic influences, Orson Welles. This dramatized adaptation features a marvelous cast of actors, sound effects, and an original, baroque score to accompany the narrative, which was written by gifted composer Mark Moya. The structure of this eclectic production is reminiscent of popular playhouse presentations during the “Golden Age of Radio.” As a result, Gethsemane: The Radio Theatre Experience is unlike any audio book yet to be produced given all the theatrical elements that bring the story to life and makes the experience of listening all the more indelible. The Midnight Slander on Swoop’s World Late Night

The Midnight Slander On Wednesday September 24, 2014 at 8pm/PDT (10pm/CDT, 11pm/EDT) we are happy to welcome The Midnight Slander to Swoop’s World Late Night. Tune in as we get to know the band, and their music. Of course after our interview with The Midnight Slander, we’ll be up to all of our usual fun with our Brewskis beer tasting segment, TBones Timeout, USC legend Anthony Davis, as well as crazy insights into any interesting news stories of the day. Swoop’s World Late Night is on Wednesday’s from 8pm/PST – 11pm/PST tune in at Swoopsworld.com. The Midnight Slander The Midnight Slander isn’t about pushing boundaries, redefining the industry, or reshaping your perception of music. We write music from our hearts and only wish to share it with as many people as we can. We didn’t know what would happen when we locked ourselves up for a weekend in a studio, or what we would have in our hands when it was all said and done.  We ended up with The Open Road EP, music that can only be described as honest, memorable, and fun. Two years later we have written and recorded a full length release produced at Lava Room Recording and coming out this fall on Spectra Records. Our music brings to light our many influences; from the lyrical storytelling of country, to melodies influenced by pop and rock, to danceable airtight grooves evolving from funk. We’ve managed to bring together the music, experiences, and stories of three people who only ever wanted to play for anyone who would listen. There is a long and exciting road ahead; where it goes we don’t know. What we do know, is that we want our family, friends, and fans to travel it with us.
