187: Tournament T-Time Series: Best Ball with Phyllis at Stafford
Tori and Phyllis are back for another installment of the Tournament Series, this time heading to Stafford Country Club in western New York for an RDGA two-person best ball event. Tori had never played the course before, but Phyllis assures her it's one of the best — home to a legendary ladies' invitational and built by white-collar Buffalonians who wanted a hidden gem in the middle of nowhere. The pre-round logistics are chaotic (Phyllis has loans to lock, a jackhammer blocking her street, and exactly 23 minutes to get there), but they make the first tee with seconds to spare. At just 4,515 yards from the yellow tees, Tori goes in expecting birdies all day — and the course promptly humbles her.The short yardage turns out to be a trap: the greens are fast, hard, and nearly impossible to hold, leaving Tori stuck hitting awkward 50-yard shots from the rough all day. Phyllis, meanwhile, keeps chipping and one-putting like clockwork. They finish second in gross and win overall low net — beating a field where the gross winner shot one under on a course that should have played much easier. Along the way, there's a memorable rules moment involving a chalk ball marker (completely legal, but you have to erase it before you putt), and plenty of honest reflection on what the round revealed about both their games heading into the next event.Don’t forget to grab your FREE Workbook: Short Game 100!Follow Uswww.toritotlis.com.Instagram: @tori_totlis.TikTok: @tori_totlis.Facebook: @TeamTotlis

EP186: Trying Out This YouTube Golf Thing
All four episodes of the Creek Cup series are officially live on YouTube — and yes, they dropped out of order (episode four first, naturally). Click the playlist link below to watch them in the right sequence. In this episode of T-Time, Tori and Ashley are joined by Aubrey, the editor behind both the Desert Classic and Creek Cup series, to pull back the curtain on what it actually takes to turn hours of raw golf footage into a four-part series. Aubrey was on the ground at Bandon Dunes for the first time, racking up 20,000 steps a day while wrangling cameras, voice-noting clip numbers, and somehow capturing one of the most unbelievable moments of the trip — April's hole-in-one on a par three playing 155 yards into the wind. Her second career hole-in-one, by the way. And yes, someone ended up in the ocean because of it.The conversation gets into the full production process — from Aubrey's 20-page pre-production document and cast profiling based on Desert Classic footage, to the post-production challenge of meshing everyone's creative vision as a self-described non-golfer. They also talk about what makes YouTube golf such a massive content category, why the Creek Cup format worked so well on camera, and what they'd do differently next time (GoPros in the carts, for starters). If you haven't watched the series yet, head to the playlist link — and if you find them even remotely interesting, share it with your golf crew!Making of The Creek Cup: Bandon Dunes - PlaylistThe Making of the Desert Classic: 2026 - PlaylistWatch this podcast episode on YouTubeThe Good Vibe Studios is a women-owned and operated creative studio space based in Phoenix, and built for podcasters, photographers, videographers, and entrepreneurs. 171. Winning Your First Club Championship with Phyllis Haberer
"Down the middle, down the middle, chip one putt." That was the mantra Phylly sang in her head throughout her breakthrough club championship win at Durand Eastman, Rochester's notoriously difficult municipal course. After years of close calls, including a tough shank into the water on the 16th hole during a Florida club championship, Phylly finally broke through. She entered day two tied for third, grouped with three-time defending champion Deb Wood, who had just dominated at Wanakah Country Club days earlier with a 76.The mental game nearly derailed her before she started. Coming off a brutal 92 at Wanakah (where Wood won), Phylly arrived with zero expectations. She didn't even warm up or practice putting. Instead, she treated it like any other league day rather than the championship finale. While Wood and the other leaders shot 44s on the front nine, Phylly fired a smooth 40. Her strategy was pure consistency: "I can't get on par fours in two 'cause I only hit my drive like 160, 170." So she chipped and one-putted her way to pars and bogeys while others chased birdies. The 18th hole loomed as her "arch nemesis": a par five so treacherous it was featured in Golf Magazine. "I thought, oh, second place isn't so bad," she admitted, already accepting potential defeat. But when Wood failed to reach the green in three, Phylly knew she had it.The celebration was subdued. She didn't even realize she'd won until others confirmed no one ahead had caught her. After decades of trying, her 82 delivered the breakthrough, proving that sometimes the best strategy is simply playing your own game! For more information on our 2025/2026 Women’s Golf Event Schedule, please visit: CompeteConfidenceGolf.com.Subscribe to our FREE Female Golfer Facebook Group: First T Crew [Behind the Scenes of Women’s Golf]Get in touch! 170. The Bandon Dunes Solstice with Jason Baumeister
"You wake up at 5:20, you put your tee in the ground, you hit your shot, and then the four of you walk off to the ball and you hit it again, and you keep on going. It's very simplistic. You go left foot, right foot until you're finished. 72 holes."Jason has tackled one of golf's most brutal endurance tests 13 times: the Bandon Solstice. This isn't your casual weekend round. Participants play 72 holes of walking-only golf in a single day, starting at 5:20 AM on the longest day of the year at Bandon Dunes Resort in Oregon. What makes this particularly nasty? Try 50,000+ steps across four championship courses with no carts allowed. Jason learned the hard way when his caddie bailed after 36 holes during his first attempt, forcing him to carry his own bag the rest of the way. The preparation is serious business: "You need to eat a lot of food the night before. You should be uncomfortable when you leave the dinner table" because you'll burn around 10,000 calories during the challenge! Weather can be absolutely brutal. Jason recalls 60-mph winds so fierce that "the sand looked like water" flowing across the beach below the clifftop courses. Getting in requires either legacy status (like Jason earned by pestering the original GM into making it official) or winning what's essentially a lottery that sells out within minutes. The waiting list is rumored to be 10 years deep."It's absolutely doable to such a broad range of fitness levels," Jason insists, though surviving involves equal parts physical endurance and mental fortitude. Expect rewards in the form of gift bags, stories at McKees Pub, and bragging rights for completing golf's ultimate marathon! For more information about the Bandon Dunes Solstice, please visit: https://bandondunesgolf.com/golf/golf-events/For more information on our 2026 Desert Classic Tournament, please visit: DesertClassicTournament.comSubscribe to our FREE Female Golfer Facebook Group: First TCrew [Behind the Scenes of Women’s Golf]Get in touch!Instagram: @tori_totlisTikTok: @tori_totlisYouTube: @tori.totlisWebsite: CompeteConfidenceGolf.comBe sure you are subscribed to our podcast to automatically receive the NEW episodes weekly!!!

169. The 29029 Everesting Challenge with Justin Klemballa
Justin Klemballa tackled one of the most grueling endurance challenges out there – the 29029 Everting event at Jackson Hole. For those unfamiliar, this isn't your typical weekend hike. Participants climb a mountain 19 times in 36 hours to reach the equivalent height of Mount Everest (29,029 feet). You read that right – 19 times up the same brutal mountain. It's steep as hell and requires the most ascents of any 29029 location. Only two-thirds of participants actually finish and earn the coveted red hat. The experience has Justin buzzing about hosting his own golf instruction trips, combining bucket-list destinations with on-course coaching. Because apparently, surviving 29029 gives you ideas about doing more impossible things.Connect with Justin Klemballa: Instagram, Youtube, Breaking Bogeys ProgramFor more information on our 2026 Desert Classic Tournament, please visit: DesertClassicTournament.com Subscribe to our FREE Female Golfer Facebook Group: First T Crew [Behind the Scenes of Women’s Golf]Get in touch! I’m back with golf coach Justin Klambala, who's making his return to competitive golf after a hiatus since 2009. With his signature energy and passion for the sport that we’ve all come to know and love, he’s here to tell us all about his comeback and the lessons he’s learned along the way! Justin kicks things off talking about the differences between outcome goals and process goals, and why our long-term success in any endeavor–golf or otherwise–depends on making more of the latter.Drawing from his personal experience, Justin illustrates why keeping your focus on the present moment during tournament play is one of the best things you can do, and why obsessively checking your score ultimately makes little difference on your ability to win!“All I can do is try to hit great shots,” Justin says. “If I do that, I’m stacking the odds in my favor and do my best. If my best beats everybody else that day, I win. If it doesn’t, it doesn’t!”Finally, Justin shares why being your own cheerleader is a game-changer for building confidence, the self-talk secret that separates great golfers from average golfers, and his career goals moving forward.Connect with Justin: YouTubeInstagramLinkedInFacebookDon't forget about the T-Time Swag Giveaway! 147. 5 Keys to Staying Miserable on the Golf Course with The Par Train Dudes
What a fun episode we have today with Evan Singer and Matt Cermak from The Par Train podcast joining us. We are filling you in on 5 ways you can be miserable on the golf course – this is a must-listen!Key Highlights:Expecting what you do on the range to happen on the course. A warm-up is just that: a warm-up. Your best swing or putt is an outlier, not an average.Trying to shoot your best score. When was the last time you actually shot your best score when you “tried” to shoot your best score? Don’t reinvent a past victory. Instead, recommit to earn a new victory. That is, don’t look at the finish line. Focus instead on the process—the journey—that will result in a win.Trying to impress others. Since we’re only human, we can’t help but care what others think; but, when we let the opinions of others influence our performance on the golf course, we end up doing worse than if we just put aside that insecurity.Assume you won’t make mistakes. Just because your last round was perfect doesn’t mean this round will be perfect. Golf is a game of recovery.Don’t get too high, and don’t get too low. Take care not to rest on your laurels after every good shot and beat yourself up after every bad shot. If you get too high, you create unnecessary pressure on yourself come the next swing; and if you get too low, you gradually lose the confidence and motivation to go on.
