Special Edition: The Hills District Planning Review - "What's Being Built in Your Backyard?"
Talk of the Town is back - and we're coming in with a big one.After nearly a year away, host Von Hosking returns with a special edition episode that the Hills District community has been asking for.The City of Moreton Bay has released draft precinct planning proposals for both Arana Hills and Ferny Hills - and the scale of what's being proposed has caught many residents completely off guard. We're talking buildings up to 15 storeys in Arana Hills. Twelve storeys in Ferny Hills. Significant density increases across suburban streets. Mathew has been in and around football for most of his life, including being a member of Samford Rangers FC since 2011 and is a lifelong Liverpool supporter. He currently plays for the Rangers Over 45’s Old Boys team and coaches his sons Under 12’s team. He joined the Committee in 2020 as the Club Secretary and was the Club Registrar prior to this. His focus is on supporting the Clubs strategic direction ensuring it can continue to sustainably grow and offer an inclusive and fun environment for its members and visitors.Samford Rangers FC has been a cornerstone of the Samford Valley community since 1973, providing a welcoming and inclusive environment for players of all ages and skill levels. The club is not only known for its competitive spirit on the field but also for its strong community focus and positive impact off the field.In this episode we discuss a serious issue that has recently affected the club - copper theft from their facilities. This annual initiative aims to raise awareness of domestic and family violence and coercive control, highlight the support services available, and send a clear message that violence in our communities will not be tolerated. The theme for 2024 is It’s in our control to end coercive control.There are many events happening around Brisbane and Queensland to raise awareness about this issue and one of those is happening in our own backyard. The Moreton Bay Red Ride and Family Fun Day is taking place on Saturday 18th May at the Caboolture Showgrounds. It exists solely to campaign for this very message - to STAND UP against domestic violence.
