Rebuilding confidence and pride after years of hiding
Send us Fan MailReinvention isn’t always loud. Sometimes it’s the quiet decision to finally choose yourself. In this episode of Talking T-ea, Juelz sits down with Stef Vachon — a queer former competitive and professional figure skater who walked away from the ice in shame and later returned with pride, authenticity, and self-acceptance at the center.Together, they unpack what hiding looks like, how performance culture impacts identity, and why confidence doesn’t expire with age. Stef shares powerful reflections on grief, discipline, queer visibility, and rebuilding self-respect in midlife — plus a gentle framework that helped move from shame to self-love.If you’ve ever thought, “It’s too late for me,” this conversation is your reminder: healing has no timeline.Connect with Stef: https://www.instagram.com/togethermovingforwardpodcast/https://www.instagram.com/stef_vachon/https://www.instagram.com/stefvachonspeaker/Support the show

Trans Rights Are Human Rights
Send us Fan MailIn this episode of Talking T-ea, I slow the conversation down.Trans people are discussed everywhere — in legislation, in comment sections, on news panels — but rarely are we spoken with. This episode is an invitation to shift that. Not to argue existence. Not to demand agreement. But to humanize what too often gets reduced to headlines and political talking points.I speak about the harm of erasure — how invisibility shows up in laws, language, media narratives, and everyday interactions. I unpack how misgendering, policy debates, and public fear don’t just live in theory — they land on real bodies and nervous systems. We explore the truth that fear grows in distance, and empathy grows in proximity.I also highlight trans figures throughout history — Alan L. Hart, Dr. James Barry, Lucy Hicks Anderson, Sylvia Rivera — reminding us that trans people are not new, not a trend, not an experiment. We have always been here. History just keeps forgetting us.Most importantly, I speak from lived experience — not as a statistic, not as a concept — but as a trans woman navigating a world that often debates her humanity before understanding it.Trans rights are not special rights. They are human rights. This episode is about dignity. It’s about visibility. It’s about what changes when we stop talking about people — and start talking with them.If this conversation resonates with you, share it. Start a dialogue. Sit across from someone different than you. Listening changes things.— Juelz Nevarez Host of Talking T-eaSupport the show

Say their names a trans day of remeberance
Send us Fan MailIn this Season 2 finale of Talking T-ea, Juelz Nevarez honors Trans Day of Remembrance, a day dedicated to remembering transgender and gender-diverse people whose lives were lost to anti-trans violence and systemic neglect. This episode holds space for grief, truth, and reflection — naming the realities of transphobia, the disproportionate violence faced by Black and Brown trans women, and the emotional weight carried by those who remain. Juelz speaks to the importance of saying their names, honoring their lives with dignity, and moving beyond mourning into action. We remember because their lives mattered. Coming Out, Coming Home: Finding Truth in a Loud World
Send us Fan Mail“Today’s episode is close to my heart — a reflection shared in honor of National Coming Out Day. Coming out isn’t just a moment; it’s a lifelong journey of returning home to ourselves. For some, it’s loud and proud; for others, it’s quiet and sacred. Wherever you are on that path, your truth deserves safety, celebration, and love. When I say coming out, I also mean coming home — back to that inner voice that was never wrong about who we are. In a world that often shouts over us, finding peace in our own truth is an act of courage. To everyone listening — whether you’re out, questioning, stealth, or simply existing authentically in your own way — this episode is for you. Let’s sip our tea, share our stories, and keep creating spaces where we can all belong.” The Center on Colfax in Denver — one of Colorado’s largest LGBTQ+ community centers, offering everything from youth programs to legal clinics to trans resources. If you’re listening and need a place to connect, that’s a great spot to start. Nationally, a huge shout-out to: • The Trevor Project — for providing 24/7 crisis support for LGBTQ+ youth. You can reach them at thetrevorproject.org or by calling 988, then press 3. • GLAAD — for fighting every day to make sure our stories are told accurately and with pride in the media. • Trans Lifeline — a peer-run hotline offering emotional and financial support for trans people. Their number is 877-565-8860. • And PFLAG, the nation’s largest family and ally organization, helping parents and loved ones learn how to support the LGBTQ+ people in their lives. Support the show

Bathrooms, Bodies and Belonging; What Makes A Woman, Really?
Send us Fan Mail*"This episode is about more than bathrooms or locker rooms—it’s about belonging. For too long, fear has dictated who is allowed to enter certain spaces, whose bodies are seen as valid, and what makes a woman ‘real.’ But when we peel back that fear, we discover something deeper: inclusion creates safety.By sharing my own locker room experiences, I want to name the truth that trans women, trans men, and nonbinary people aren’t a threat in these spaces—we’re simply people who want to change clothes, use the bathroom, and feel at home in our bodies like everyone else.Bathrooms and locker rooms don’t have to be battlegrounds. They can be spaces of trust, dignity, and respect. And when we center belonging over fear, we make space for all of us to breathe easier."*Research finds gender-identity protections do not increase bathroom/locker-room crimes; violations remain exceedingly rare. (Williams Institute) 2025 synthesis: allowing trans people to use facilities matching their identity does not increase risk to others; restricting access harms trans people. (Williams Institute) 2024 Trevor Project survey: 46% of trans/nonbinary youth seriously considered suicide in the past year. (The Trevor Project) U.S. Transgender Survey (2022, early insights): 22% reported being harassed/assaulted/denied service when IDs didn’t match presentation—illustrating real-world stakes of “policing” access. (A4TE) Examples of the rhetoric you’re responding to (for context): major outlets document repeated claims portraying trans recognition as dangerous or “contagion.” (Los Angeles Times) Support the show
