Grunt GanG Podcast Gets Hijacked
DJ DomingO opens the Grunt Gang Pod with Tony, Mel, and Darren, by announcing a multi-episode “Kings of the Ring” round-robin concept featuring the King of the Ring winners to determine the ultimate champion by points to reduce bias. Before the tournament begins, an uninvited guest appears—Doboy from Kingz of Cash, to respond to prior trash talk and criticize their past tournament choices. This sparks a long argument filled with jabs about Mel's weight and him looking like Freight Train, the Midnight Express, Grunt GanG relevance, and a proposed jiu-jitsu fight at Rooster Weight with Darren. The group grows suspicious of Tony’s connection to the surprise appearance, and his cowardice acts. Tensions rise, and they abandon the planned tournament, apologize to listeners, tease a “deep dive” later, and end the episode in a stressed, awkward sign-off. Jamie Moyer: 25-Year MLB Journey, Mariners Run, Phillies World Series & Pitching at 49 | IN THE FRONT ROW
Former MLB pitcher Jamie Moyer discusses growing up near Philadelphia, following local sports from afar, and developing a passion for baseball through youth leagues coached by his father. After not being drafted out of high school, he attended St. Joseph’s University, balanced work and school, and emerged as a starter; a Cubs scout first noticed him at an adult-league tournament, leading to his sixth-round selection in 1984. Moyer recalls making his MLB debut with the Cubs at Wrigley Field on June 16, 1986 against his childhood idol Steve Carlton and the Phillies, and later finding consistency and success during 11 years with the Seattle Mariners, including the 116-win 2001 season that fell short of a World Series. With 10-and-5 rights, he accepted a trade back to Philadelphia, where the team’s energy helped extend his career and culminated in the 2008 World Series championship and parade. He explains his motivation to return from Tommy John and Flexor-Pronator surgery, becoming the oldest MLB pitcher to record a win at 49, and reflects on longevity, mentoring, charity work (including a foundation tied to grief camps), and current efforts such as “Mound Visits with Jamie Moyer.” 00:00 Philly Roots 02:48 Sports Dreams Begin 04:31 St Joes Grind 06:48 Scouts And Draft 08:29 Debut At Wrigley 10:33 Finding Consistency 13:58 Seattle Breakthrough 16:48 116 Win Season 21:23 Trade Back Home 24:26 2008 Parade Magic 27:25 Late Career Mindset 27:57 Turning Doubt Into Fuel 28:25 Veteran Mentor Role 29:06 Oldest Win Milestone 29:27 Elbow Surgery Comeback 32:07 Chasing 50 And Family Goals 33:15 Making Peace With Retirement 33:50 Giving Back 35:56 Proudest Moments And World Series 37:44 Final Minor League Chapter 39:26 Meeting Steve Carlton 41:08 Hall Of Fame Reflections 42:03 Mound Visits And Baseball Today 44:18 Wrap Up And Sign Off Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company.
