Rob Gearing- The Ethos of Spartan

Rob Gearing is the founder of Spartan Precision Equipment which makes hands down the best bi-pod on the market, The Javelin. As a hunter and outdoorsman, Rob's needs were not being met by the bi-pods on the market, so he did what all great entrepreneurs do, he created a new product that met his needs and filled a hole in the marketplace. In this episode, Ryan and Rob talk a bit about product innovation but mostly discuss all the wild places hunting can take you and contrasting views between the hunting and non-hunting world. Rob and Ryan have both been all over the world hunting and traveling and talk through the community that is built on a hunting trip, especially ones that have a little bit of torture endured by the hunting party.

    Jessica Byers- Huntin Fool

In this episode, Ryan sits down with hunter, world-traveler, and Manager of Marketing and PR for Huntin' Fool magazine Jessica Byers. Jessica grew up in Temple, TX as one of 3 girls who all loved the outdoors and hunting with their Dad. Hunting and fishing has always been a constant in her life and not long after graduating from Texas A&M (we won't hold it against her) she made it a career by traveling the world in pursuit of epic hunts and writing about it all. She now resides in Utah, where Huntin' Fool HQ is, and continues to hunt a variety of species all over the country. Ryan and Jessica discuss how hunting has impacted their lives and lessons learned while preparing for and participating in rigorous hunts.

    Thosh Collins- Well For Culture

We started this podcast to talk with people who push their bodies and minds to the limit. People who want to be at their best physically, mentally, and spiritually. Thosh Collins is one of those individuals. Founder of the Indigenous wellness Initiative called Well For Culture, Thosh is leading a new movement of total mind, body, and health wellness for Native Americans. Born and raised in the Salt River Pima-Maricopa community outside of Phoenix, Thosh grew up hunting the Sonoran desert with his father who instilled in him the spiritual nature of hunting. In this episode, Ryan and Thosh talk about their experiences as young hunters, how and why they hunt now, and spend a good bit of time on physical and mental training for hunting and getting the most out of life.

Steve Ecklund- "Every Mountain Hunt I Have Ever Been On Sucked"

In this episode, CANIS Founder Ryan Efurd sits down with Canadian born and bred, hunter, outdoorsman, and host of "The Edge" on Wild TV Steve Ecklund. Anyone who knows Steve or follows him on social or his TV shows respects him as a hunter, conservationist, and for the fact he doesn't hold back on telling it like it is. Ryan and Steve swap hunting victories and stories but also dive deep into the sheer agony that goes along with a mountain hunt. For those who have never been on a mountain sheep hunt or extended hunt of any kind, they just see the end result of hunt and a picture in magazine or social media of the hunter with his kill. These guys go into the mental and physical beatings that you endure while on the chase in the mountains. 10 day hunts that turn into 25 day hunts. Having to use your gun as a crutch to get off the mountain. Pushing your mind and body into areas you didn't know you were capable of, and how that translates to real life off the mountain. This is a good one.

  6. 1

Fred Harbison- Alaskan Big Game and Wilderness Guide

CANIS Founder Ryan Efurd talks with Alaskan Big Game Guide Fred Harbison. Fred was Ryan's guide on a recent trip to the Brooks Range in Alaska where they harvested a beautiful Dall Sheep together. Fred has been guiding remote wilderness guide and big game hunts in Alaska for over 30 years and he has seen and done it all. Ryan and Fred discuss what it takes mentally and physically to master a grueling hunt in the Brooks Range and how that can apply to life. Oh, and a few hunting stories as well.
