The Asian American Challenge
by Matthew
Hear about the challenges of living in America as an Asian American, from growing up in the 90s, bouncing back and forth from Hawaii to Los Angeles, fulfilling 20 years of military service, and to being in a biracial marriage in my 40s. I’ll cover many humorous topics of what it was like to be the only “chino” in the hood, being considered “ugly” during grade school while all my friends had girlfriends, and what it was like living in Hawaii where the roles were reversed. I’ll also cover serious topics like racism, specific insecurities as an Asian, and difficulty of finding safe spaces.
