Crompo's New World, NASCAR's Biggest Tracks and SVG prepares for Watkins Glen

Andrew Clarke is still in the United States, but he still took enough time to tell Bruce Williams what it's like to stand at Talladega while 26 cars pile up in front of you. He also visited Texas Motor Speedway, watched Chase Elliott take the win, and sat down with Kyle Larson for a major feature coming in the next issue of Auto Action — including Larson's thoughts on Shane Van Gisbergen's chances of winning on an oval this year.Back home, Bruce has a cracking 10-page interview with Neil Crompton in the new Auto Action magazine. They cover his unceremonious exit from the Supercars broadcast team, his busy life since, his role at BJR, and why the idea of him becoming the next Supercars CEO is more complicated than the rumours suggest. There's also talk of Van Gisbergen's triple-race weekend at Watkins Glen – all three races this weekend across the Cup, O'Rielly's and Craftsman Truck series – the state of play under Supercars interim CEO Barclay Nettefold, Roland Dane's public commentary on the sport, and whether Wollongong will ever actually host a Supercars round.Plus, Andrew's book The Immortals of NASCAR is selling out of Barnes & Noble stores across the US, so there's a bit of that, too.The new issue of Auto Action is out now.All this and more on the latest episode of the AutoActionRevLimiter. Supercars in NZ | Toyota Breaks Through as Payne Tug-of-War Explodes

The RevLimiter heads across the Tasman—and straight into one of the most fascinating Supercars double-headers in years. From Taupō to Christchurch, the racing delivered… even if the drivers didn’t always agree on how to do it. Old-school crowds, sold-out circuits, and a new-generation storyline starting to take shape.Toyota breaks through with a win. Grove Racing looks like the team to beat. And in the background, the Matt Payne tug-of-war is getting very real—with GM circling hard and Grove digging in.There’s chaos too—wheel failures, radiator carnage, first-lap pile-ups—and a growing question: are Supercars drivers racing hard enough, or just whinging when it gets tough?Plus:Winners and losers from New ZealandThe Chaz Mostert vs Brodie Kostecki flashpointWhy parity is still the sport’s most political weaponAnd what it all means heading to Symmons PlainsIt’s sharp, it’s opinionated, and it doesn’t sit on the fence. All this and more on the latest episode of the AutoActionRevLimiter. Check out https://autoaction.com.au/for all the latest updates and dropping news. Hey Bro... can you hear me? We're in Christchurch

Andrew Clarke and Bruce Williams call in live from Christchurch after a big opening day at the ITM Super 440, and there is plenty to get through.Kyle Allen delivered a maiden Supercars win for Grove Racing with a gutsy two-tyre strategy that held off a hard-charging Brodie Kostecki, while Matt Payne had earlier taken pole for the team. Andrew and Bruce discuss what the result says about Grove's willingness to back themselves — and whether Kyle Allen is ready to step up if Payne departs. The parity debate dominates the first half. The Camaro teams ran with revised rear wing and front splitter settings following the Supercars Commission adjustment, but was it a technical correction or a sporting one? Andrew and Bruce go back and forth on whether the changes were merited, and whether Barry Ryan's admission that GM has no A-grade drivers undermines the case for the adjustment entirely. Also on the agenda: the safety car that wasn't — a chaotic first-lap incident that multiple drivers said could have been catastrophic; Red Bull's difficult day with Will Brown losing time to an undertray issue and Brock Feeney fading through the field; Toyota's Ryan Wood on the podium again; and why nobody should be surprised the GR Supras keep winning.Plus, first impressions of Ruapuna — a flat track the drivers are enjoying, a massive crowd for a Friday, and a city that has well and truly embraced Supercars. All this and more on the latest episode of the AutoActionRevLimiter. Check out https://autoaction.com.au/for all thelatest updates and dropping news. From Ryan Wood’s breakthrough win for Toyota to the growing noise around parity and performance, there’s plenty bubbling under the surface. But that’s just the start. We dive deep into the Matt Payne story — GM’s quiet but aggressive push, what it means for Cadillac’s future, and why this is more than just another contract rumour.Plus, exclusive chats with Neil Crompton and Barclay Nettlefold, giving rare insight into the decision-making, the direction of the sport, and what comes next. It’s part race review, part industry shake-up — and all heading toward a Supercars season that’s about to get very interesting.🎧 Listen now. Supercars CEO Split – Warburton OUT, Nettlefold IN

We were gearing up to break down the Japanese GP… then Supercars went and blew up the agenda.James Warburton is gone—less than 12 months into his return—and chairman Barclay Nettlefold is stepping into the hot seat. Sudden? Yes. Surprising? Not entirely. On this week’s Auto Action Rev Limiter, Andrew Clarke and Bruce Williams unpack:🔥 The tension that’s been brewing behind the scenes🔥 The TV shake-up that lit the fuse🔥 Who’s been pulling the strings (and who just got outplayed)🔥 What Nettlefold’s takeover actually means for the future of SupercarsIt’s blunt, it’s unfiltered, and it’s everything the paddock’s been whispering—now said out loud.🎧 Listen now and get ahead of the noise.Because in Supercars right now, it’s not just racing… it’s politics at 300km/h.All this and more on the latest episode of the AutoActionRevLimiter. Check out https://autoaction.com.au/for all thelatest updates and dropping news. F1’s new rules already wobbling as China booms and GM circles in Supercars

Formula 1 has a shiny new rulebook and already looks like it’s misplaced half the instructions. In episode two of The Rev Limiter, Andrew Clarke and Bruce Williams get stuck into a season that’s barely started and already throwing up red flags, most notably McLaren failing the basic brief of actually making the grid.Kimi Antonelli wins and the hype machine fires up, but let’s not pretend history hasn’t seen this movie before, young driver, fast car, big noise. The real question is what happens next. Then there’s China. Packed grandstands, booming interest, and not a hint of Drive to Survive in sight. So if Netflix isn’t the hero of this story, what is? Money, manufacturers, or just the sheer scale of the place?Closer to home, GM is circling in Supercars, picking off talent and quietly trying to rebuild what it lost. Not everyone’s thrilled, and not everyone’s playing the same game. It’s blunt, it wanders, it occasionally goes off the rails, but underneath it all, there’s a proper look at where the sport actually sits right now, not where it says it does. All this and more on the latest episode of the AutoActionRevLimiter. Check out https://autoaction.com.au/for all thelatest updates and dropping news. The RevLimiter Returns: New F1 Rules, Supercars Chaos and Bruce Unfiltered

Yes, yes… calm down.We know. The messages, the emails, the random people at the Grand Prix grabbing us by the sleeve asking “Where the hell is the podcast?” — apparently the RevLimiter disappearing act had people more concerned than a Ferrari strategy call.So after a bit of a layoff (caused mostly by too much racing, too much work, and not enough coffee), Bruce Williams and Andrew Clarke are back behind the microphones. And naturally it goes off the rails almost immediately. In this episode we dive head-first into the new Formula 1 rules, which currently seem to involve equal parts battery management, computer science and sheer confusion. Even the drivers don’t look entirely sure what the cars are doing — which makes for entertaining viewing. We also tackle:The Australian Grand Prix circus — bigger, shinier and possibly running out of toilets.Oscar Piastri’s unfortunate meeting with the wall and whether the technology deserves a share of the blame. The MotoGP raid on Melbourne, with Adelaide happily running off with the spoils. Why Mercedes might already have the jump on everyone in the new F1 era.Supercars chaos, Toyota suddenly being competitive and Chevrolet having a bit of homework to do.And the usual assortment of tangents, arguments and Bruce wandering off into completely unrelated territory. There’s also a quick nod to the Phillip Island Classic, some historic racing nostalgia, and a few industry whispers thrown in for good measure. In other words: the same slightly unhinged motorsport chat you were apparently missing. So if you were one of the people asking where the podcast went — congratulations. You’ve got your wish.Just don’t complain if Bruce starts ranting again.

Mostert is new Supercars King, while McLaren stuff it up

Chaz Mostert finally drags Walkinshaw Andretti United back to the summit, delivering the title they’ve chased for years — and doing it with the kind of swagger that only Chaz can pull off. Airborne Mustangs, Optus blue flying, WAU celebrating like they’ve won the lottery… because they basically have.Meanwhile, on the other side of the motorsport universe, McLaren have found yet another creative way to torpedo a perfectly good result. Yes, again. Yes, in that way. Yes, we go there. In this week’s RevLimiter we unpack:🚀 How Mostert turned WAU into title winners🏆 The decisive moments that sealed the championship🔥 The heartbreak and the humour 🍊 In F1, Why McLaren keep inventing new ways to throw away points📉 Whether this latest blunder finally costs them everythingIt’s peak motorsport chaos: one team climbing the mountain while another forgets where the summit is.Hit play, buckle in, and let’s get into it.All this and more on the latest episode of the AutoActionRevLimiter. Check out https://autoaction.com.au/for all thelatest updates and dropping news. Papaya Knife-Fight, Supercars Shake-Up & Saluting the Greats

Auto Action’s weekly motorsport therapy session… now with extra caffeine and fewer brakes.Strap in, legends — this week’s RevLimiter is a bit like the second chicane at Monza: fast, messy, and guaranteed to upset somebody. We kick things off with F1’s young-gun cage match, where Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris are split by a single lonely championship point. One. Uno. The margin is thinner than a McLaren PR statement. So… what happens now?Does Oscar keep his ice-veined rhythm, or does Lando’s late-season desperation finally boil over? And while everyone’s arm-wrestling over papaya bragging rights, we’ll ask whether Max Verstappen is actually out of this… or just coiling for a late-season sucker punch. We wouldn’t bet the house — but maybe a small rental car.And yes — Ollie Bearman. Mexico. The kid looked like he’d been driving F1 cars since preschool. Superstar energy. Big future. Ferrari might actually have something to smile about — assuming they don’t find a way to ruin it.Back home, Supercars went nuclear.Chaz Mostert didn’t just win twice — he turned the championship upside down like he was shaking loose change from the couch cushions. Meanwhile, the Finals format has already claimed its first scalps:Brodie Kostecki – gone.Ryan Wood – gone.Anton De Pasquale – also gone. The drama is real and the field is getting thinner than a pit-lane excuse. We’ll also take a moment to remember two towering figures who shaped Aussie racing:Garry Rogers — the big personality who never stopped giving young drivers a crack. And George Sheppard — a quiet giant whose fingerprints are all over the sport’s modern history. It’s all coming your way: fast, loud, and with more bite than a Bathurst hotel schnitty.Don’t miss it.All this and more on the latest episode of the AutoAction RevLimiter. Check out https://autoaction.com.au/for all thelatest updates and dropping news.  Thanks to Byron Clarke for production support. #F1 #Supercars #NASCAR #IMSA #WEC#hypercar #LandoNorris#OscarPiastri #SVG Musicby:bensound.comArtist:DollshadeLicensecode:JMWGOIMLZNKZYGBR

The Hour of Truth: Bathurst Parity, Lord Vadar and Papaya Rules

We only hit record when there’s something worth saying, and this week we’ve got a full hour of it.Bruce has the unemployment office on speed-dial: co-drivers who’ve stayed a season too long, main-game names living off past glory, and a couple of “can’t-miss” prospects who somehow keep missing. No sacred cows, just fresh steaks. We rip into Bathurst’s fallout with parity bunfights, TRC theatre, and a twilight finish that felt weird even by Mount Panorama standards... plus the kids who stole the show while Dunlop’s wets basically saved it.Then it’s Papaya Rules: what McLaren’s team orders mean for Oscar vs Lando, and whether the championship maths now lives in the garage as much as on track. And keep your toes out of the water, Max the Shark is coming. If Red Bull smell blood over the final run, this title fight gets feral fast. And yes, the Great Dane is back, Lord Vader with a headset. Roland on the pit wall means pit-lane politics just got spicy, and a few comfy seats aren’t so comfy anymore. One hour. No fluff. Sharp takes, hard truths, and a few laughs at our own expense.Search “Auto Action RevLimiter” and press play.Music by:bensound.comArtist: DollshadeLicense code:JMWGOIMLZNKZYGBR

    Firing some motorsport pub ammo

Just two blokes, Andrew & Bruce. talking motorsport over a beer… well, maybe not this week. We pull apart the Azerbaijan Grand Prix: Oscar’s slips, Lando’s missed punches, Max’s metronomic dominance, and Red Bull Racing’s revival under its new regime. George Russell, Carlos Sainz, and the small matter of a Williams podium all get a run, too. Then we swing back to The Bend 500, seven days on, to ask what actually mattered, who nailed the start, and who never fired. Plus, Cameron McLeod’s big weekend at Indy in GT4, and a word on TCR’s quiet resurgence. It’s RevLimiter: no fluff, no fence-sitting, plenty of throttle. #F1 #Supercars #NASCAR #IMSA #WEC#hypercar #LandoNorris#OscarPiastri #SVG Musicby:bensound.comArtist:DollshadeLicensecode:JMWGOIMLZNKZYGBR

The RevLimiter – We’re Back, and Still Pulling No Punches

We’re back after a short pit stop — almost the same crew, slightly tweaked format, and still as straight-shooting as ever. This week, we pull apart Supercars’ return to Queensland Raceway, where Broc Feeney decided to dominate for fun… and even jumped the start to keep himself entertained. We’ll cover who else shone, who got lucky under Safety Car, and how a monster crowd also meant a monster queue to get out.We also reflect on the life and legacy of the late John Sheppard, discuss Shane van Gisbergen’s NASCAR hot streak, and the rough day for Connor Zilisch, who punted SVG to win an Xfinity race, fell off his own car i his victory celebration, and left with a broken collarbone. SVG would never do that, he just falls off mountain bikes. All that, plenty of opinions, and maybe a little mischief. So strap in — The RevLimiter is back.PLUS, we have discounts galore. No news.No tight bit.Just pure, unfiltered Loose. We’re jumping straight into the thick of it with a bumper chat about the Austrian Grand Prix, and the revival of Papaya Power. McLaren’s McMiracle nearly came undone, but Oscar and Lando showed why they’re the sharpest pair on the grid right now, mistakes and all. We’ll dissect Ferrari’s floor upgrade (spoiler: it might actually work), Max Verstappen’s messy no-pointer (is Mercedes on speed dial?), and why Liam Lawson is quietly making his case for a full-time seat while managing to upstage Yuki from afar.Plus, we get weird and nostalgic in our look at the latest Auto Action Premium magazine, featuring:Cam Waters doing Supercars and AmericaCameron McLeod bossing the Mustang Challenge at Le MansMax’s meltdownHesketh’s 50-year reign of chaosJim Richards’ Falcon momentAnd why the Tasman Cup was better than your average Grand Prix📦 Still 559 points on the table in F1… and still plenty to argue about.🎧 Tune in, hit subscribe, and remember:Use AAREVL25 for a 25% discount on car parts at acdelcopartsdirect.com.au.And if you want a proper Sim setup, PAGNIANCOMMERCIAL gets you 10% off at pagnianimports.com.au.This is Auto Action Rev Limiter — now looser, louder, and definitely not tight. Thanks to Byron Clarke for production support. #F1 #Supercars #NASCAR #IMSA #WEC#hypercar #LandoNorris#OscarPiastri #SVG Music by:bensound.comArtist: DollshadeLicense code:JMWGOIMLZNKZYGBR

Darwin Direction, Ford Frustration & Young Guns Rising

In this week’s RevLimiter, we’re full throttle into the Darwin weekend—but with one eye on the broader battle brewing across Supercars, F1, and beyond.Broc Feeney is on a rampage. Fast, focused, and firmly in the mix for a title run. But does it actually matter right now? We’ve seen red-hot form fizzle out when the pressure ramps up. Broc’s part of a new generation putting the old guard on notice—Kai Allen, still a teenager, just scored his first Supercars podium, and Matt Payne and Ryan Wood are already race winners before they can rent a car overseas. We’re breaking down the rise of the Zoomers and what it means for the sport.Meanwhile, the Ford vs Chevy parity debate is back—because of course it is. The Blue Oval camp reckons they’re still 2km/h down in the speed traps, despite the tweaks. And now the whispers are turning into something more—a possible switch from the Gen III to the Gen IV Coyote engine. Officially denied… but unofficially? Let’s just say the story’s not going away. We dig into the politics and the potential.Big news too from Targa Tasmania, which has finally been cleared to return post-coroner’s report. Bruce has been on the phone to the top brass at Targa—his full yarn drops in print soon, but this episode gives you the early scoop on what’s changing, why it matters, and how they plan to keep the event alive.Over in Europe the chaos continues in Formula 1:Is Fred Vasseur safe at Ferrari? Or is he just the next in a long line of team bosses to find out how sharp Maranello’s knives can be?Flavio Briatore is back—because of course he is. But what exactly is his role? Can a man banned for race fixing really be your performance advisor with a straight face? And over at McLaren, Papaya Rules. The team’s form continues to impress, with Lando and Oscar proving the car’s the real deal. Gorgeous George Shines + Lando’s Collision at Canadian GP. And Ferrari’s Le Mans Three-Peat

This week’s Rev Limited episode fired on all cylinders—and maybe a few bodily functions too, if Shane van Gisbergen’s gastro in Mexico update is anything to go by. With “Gorgeous George” Russell finally shaking off the nearly-man-of-2025 status and clinching a slick Canadian GP win. Of course, you can’t talk Canada without diving into the McLaren mess. Yes, Peter-wits, Lando Norris did hit Oscar Piastri. No amount of diplomatic hand-waving or orange-tinted excuses can change that. And if you're still debating it, the podcast panel has receipts. It's called video replay, look it up. Oh yeah, and Lando admitted it. Meanwhile, in France, Ferrari made it three on the trot at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The boys were positively glowing about the Prancing Horse’s endurance credentials. There was also a hearty nod to Cameron MacLeod, who swept both Mustang Challenge races at Circuit de la Sarthe. He’s officially on the international radar now, and with whispers that Ford is shipping 25 Mustang Dark Horse Rs to Australia, the panel suspects we’ll be seeing the pony cars thunder into the local scene sooner rather than later. It’s shaping up as a bold new undercard for SRO's SpeedSeries.Over in Indy NXT, Lochie Hughes is quietly launching a title campaign with the subtlety of a firecracker in a phone booth. Another win in the books and a sniff of the championship lead, expect us to start talking “what ifs” for a 2026 IndyCar seat. And yes, we were treated to some proper Shane Van Gisbergen lore. The man not only dominated NASCAR’s inaugural race in Mexico, but did so while battling a bout of gastro that would’ve had most of us curled up in a foetal position. SVG? He just wiped his visor and kept passing people, and then slapped them in the face with speed. Finally, the elephant in the room—or more accurately, the barely-moving grid: Is TCR dead? The vibe? Grim. The fixes? Unclear. The optimism? Not overflowing. Let’s just say if your race series is being spoken about in the same breath as SuperUtes circa 2019, you’ve got a problem. All in all, another belter of an episode, equal parts analysis, banter, and the occasional savage truth bomb. Monaco Mayhem, Penske Purge and Aussie Breakthrough

Mel’s crook this week, so Andrew and Bruce are steering the ship on this episode of RevLimiter — and there’s plenty to cover in under an hour.First up, it’s the Monaco Grand Prix, where Lando Norris finally conquered the streets of Monte Carlo to take the win and slice Oscar Piastri’s championship lead down to just three points. Bruce has a few spicy suggestions on how to actually fix Monaco as a race, while both ponder how the replacements for Jack Doohan and Liam Lawson are doing their best to prove why they shouldn’t have been picked in the first place.Over in the States, the world’s biggest motor race — the Indy 500 — was won by Alex Palou in a thriller. But the victory was almost overshadowed by the Team Penske cheating saga, which has now claimed three big-name scalps inside the operation. And in MotoGP, it wasn’t a Marquez on top — it was a wild race no one seemed to want to win, while young Aussie Senna Agius stunned the field with his maiden Moto2 victory. All that and more in this week’s Auto Action RevLimiter. Max Sizzles, McLaren Fizzles, and Penske’s Red-Faced Month of May

This week on The Auto Action RevLimiter, Andrew Clarke and the crew unpack a wild weekend of motorsport – starting with Max Verstappen’s gritty win at Imola. How did McLaren not convert raw pace into victory? Was it strategy, tyre wear… or the problem of having 2 drivers in the fight? Red Bull didn’t have that issue – especially after Yuki Tsunoda’s monster crash ended his qualifying session early. We also break down the weekend chaos at Imola: Franco Colapinto filled in for Jack Doohan and promptly put it in the wall, Ferrari raced better than they qualified, Aston Martin did the opposite, and Mercedes had a complete shocker.Back home, James Warburton is back at the helm of Supercars – and we reckon that’s a good thing. We dig into what it means and what’s next. Then it’s off to Indy, where Team Penske was slapped with disqualifications at a race they own, in a series it owns. Awkward? Absolutely. But don’t be surprised when they come out swinging at the Indy 500 as it targets three-in-a-row.All that plus the latest headlines, hot takes, and news fromaround the racing world. Piastri Takes the Wheel—World Title Race Now a McLaren Affair

🎙️ Podcast Preview: Auto Action Rev Limiter – Easter Edition This week on Auto Action Rev Limiter, we kick off with a bang—and that bang is Oscar Piastri rocketing to the top of the Formula 1 world championship standings after a clinical third win of the season in Saudi Arabia. The McLaren-Mercedes star used a clever undercut, a cool head, and a slice of Verstappen’s penalty to pull off a Grand Prix masterclass. Not bad for a kid once accused of being "too quiet"—he’s making plenty of noise now.Bruce Williams and Melinda Price join Andrew Clarke for a high-octane wrap of the long weekend that had it all: chocolate, controversy, and championship leads changing hands. We also slide sideways into the clay chaos of the Easter Sprintcar Trail, where Jamie Veal reminded everyone why he’s a dirt-track don, and we climb the mountain with the Bathurst 6 Hour's wildest comeback since The Beatles got back together—Cameron Crick and Dean Campbell from 66th to 1st!From Saudi Arabia to Mount Panorama, from Easter Speedway warfare to Ferrari’s flag-waving win at the WEC 6 Hours of Imola—it’s been a motorsport feast, and we’re serving it hot.Plus:Trans Am’s big ownership shake-upPiastri vs Verstappen: Did the penalty really change the race?A McLaren resurgence? Oscar’s Desert Domination & Payne at the Pump

Strap in because the latest episode of the RevLimiter is firing on all cylinders and 'confecting' all the stories from a big weekend of motorsport! We kicked things off under the Bahrain lights, where Oscar Piastri was cooler than a cucumber in the sand, delivering a textbook takedown of McLaren teammate Lando Norris. Some say it was domination, others say it was daylight robbery — either way, poor Lando looked like his spirit had been quietly escorted out of parc fermé. Meanwhile, Gorgeous George Russell was driving a wounded Mercedes but still managed to fend off Norris for P2. We're not saying George’s defence was heroic... but somewhere, a Union Jack just fluttered with pride. Was it genuine pace, team strategy, or just a bit of well-timed confecting from the pit wall? We don’t know, but it tasted sweet for Oscar either way.Back on home turf — well, close enough — it was a Kiwi cash grab in Taupō as Matt Payne cleaned up with two wins, the Jason Richards Trophy, and presumably a new savings account. Chaz Mostert kept it interesting by pinching one of the wins, but Payne was the local hero with the Midas touch. We also dive into Tony Quinn’s bold call to rotate the New Zealand round between the country’s four big tracks — because, as he puts it, NZ can only support one round a year, but why not let everyone have a turn?Plus, we round out the episode with the latest from overseas: NASCAR and IMSA winners get their dues, and Marc Márquez proves once again he’s not just back — he’s back on top in MotoGP.Catch all the banter, breakdowns and a few dodgy predictions on the RevLimiter. It's like a warm-up lap for your ears.🎧 Available wherever you get your podcasts — just search Auto Action RevLimiter! And if you are on the ACDelco website, use the code AAREVL25 for a 25% discount on all your parts. Max Masterclass as McLaren Stumbles... and who else is leaving Chev in Supercars?

Max Vertsappen was unheaded on his way to the Japanese Grand Prix after a stunning qualifying lap set him on the path to victory. McLaren mucked it up, though. It missed the chance to undercut with Lando Norris and then left him to waddle around an unthreatening distance from Verstappen while the faster Oscar Piastri wanted a crack. Piastri Dominates in China… how is McLaren managing two contenders in the best car?

Oscar Piastri has his first win on the board after dominating the Chinese Grand Prix last weekend with a pole-to-flag victory. Lando Norris was second and George Russell third. But the Saturday sprint race was all about Ferrari and Lewis Hamilton, who scored his first win for the Scuderia. But then it all turned to disaster in the main race when he was disqualified for wearing out his plank too much.  Not to feel alone, teammate Charles Leclerc was also rubbed our for being underweight, as was Pierre Gasly in an Alpine. Anyway, Andrew, Bruce and Melinda pull the race apart. We’ve got all the NASCAR, Rally and IndyCar news, and the bombshell departure of Shane Howard from the CEO's office at Supercars. Lando Norris wins the AGP and Supercars fire and then fizzle in the drizzle

Lando Norris has won an incident-packed wet Australian Grand Prix after a couple of extreme heat. Oscar Piastri challenged him until he was told to 'hold', and then later spun out of the action. Max Verstappen and George Russell wereon the podium, but how did it all play out?The Supercars lost their Sunday race to rain but had three full-on races in the lead-up. Broc Feeney had four positions and one win; Will Brown had a win, too, and has regained the series. But the big story was a Matt Stone Racing one-two and a maiden win to Cam Hill. F1 2024 is finally over, McLaren are the Champs… now it's time for Speedway?

The most extended F1 season in history is finally over on the edge of Christmas, and McLaren has taken its first F1 World Constructors' Championship since 1998 after a stunning and dominant win by Lando Norris. Our Oscar—and yes, we say ours because he is our columnist—was taken out on the first corner by a clumsy Max Verstappen, but he set a marker in the ground as the only driver in the field willing to challenge the four-time champ on the track. There is plenty of huff and puff and bluster off the track, with the war of words impressing Bruce, but in the end, none of that matters.  Next year's Ferrari teammates Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc put it in stunning drives from the back of the grid, meaning the F1 fight next year will be salivating. We also discussed Jack Doohan's F1 debut and why the outing matters more than the result. We have plenty of news to discuss, and then we close out with some speedway. The #QatarGP was a cracker, but why do the drivers sook so much?

Formula 1 is in its final two races of the season, and the whinging behaviour of its drivers has finally become too much to bear. Find out which driver lost respect for who over allegations of dobbing, but then turned around and did the same to someone else in the race. We love conflict, but not this epidemic of being sooky la-las? Why can’t they just person-up and race like racers? This is all part of our debrief of the #QatarGP, which Max Verstappen won. Charles Leclerc and Auto Action’s Oscar Piastri were on the podium. Plus, we are preparing for Jack Doohan’s early F1 debut this weekend. There’s plenty of other news and views, too. Verstappen wins title #4 and we have a big chat about concussion...

Max Verstappen has been crowned the 2024 World Drivers' Champion after doing just enough in Las Vegas to kill off the threat from Lando Norris mathematically. But Las Vegas was more than just about the title; it was a cracking race with a Mercedes one-two and action up and down the field. We’re looking for a sponsor to get to this race next year, that’s how much we enjoyed it! We have a pile of news about Cadillac joining F1, some rallies and other local news too… think TA2, Formula Regional and ‘More Than Equal’. And then there’s concussion and the big story in Auto Action about how motorsport needs to get more mature about how it handles concussions… which we are assured is coming. We spoke with Dr Peter Larkins, one of the world’s leading sports medicos, and he was shocked at some of the things we told him. It is also now official… Melinda Price is part of our team in what will be a test of resilience. But you should hear about all the people she has been talking with. Will Brown won the Adelaide 500... and the Supercars Championship, here's how we saw it

It was double trouble for the Supercars Championship Series, with Will Brown his first Supercars title while spearheading a Red Bull Ampol Racing one-two that left the squad dominating the Teams' Championship. And because it was the Adelaide 500, there was heaps happening. Turn 8 was tearing up cars again, and we think there is a simple fix or two to keep it challenging but to reduce the danger that left two drivers not well enough to race. Zach Bates locked down the Dunlop Super2 Series in a 'future' star studded field when some of the main game teams start looking properly. Todd Hazelwood did the same in Trans Am… and Adam Marjoram won the Super Utes. Harri Jones won the Carrera Cup, but he'd already done that before Adelaide. Then there was George Martin - aka Jorge Martin - getting the job done in MotoGP. But there was no PG this week, so we roped in Melinda Price, and we may keep her. Tell us what you think! Eyes forward this week as we look to the Adelaide 500

This week’s Auto Action RevLimiter is all about looking forward. We are looking forward to the final round of the Supercars this weekend. We’re looking forward to the McLaren letting Oscar Piastri off the leash. We’re looking forward to return of Targa Tasmania… and really, we’re looking forward to more motorsport. But we also have to look backwards at the crowning of the three-time NASCAR Champ, a new Xfinity Series winner, the fastest drag strip in Australia and the new that Tickford is not actually for sale… And if you are on the AC Delco site, use AAREVL25 for a 25% discount on all your parts. Verstappen swims to F1 title… MotoGP upheaval with one round left

Max Verstappen likely sealed his fourth F1 World Championship with a storming drive from 17th on the grid to win a wet Brazilian Grand Prix. Lando Norris still has a mathematical chance, but that is it. Alpine also set up a $50m payday with dual podiums, elevating it a few spots on the constructors' battle. MotoGP has also experienced some weather events, with the deadly floods around Valencia forcing the final rounds of the series to find a new home. Jorge Martin is looking at his first MotoGP title, aided by a fall from Francesco Bagnaia, but the fight is alive after one of the greatest races in history. Then there’s NASCAR, with the Championship 4 decided for both the Cup Series and Xfinity Cup, with punches thrown at the end of the Xfinity race at Martinsville, and the promise of more fireworks this weekend in Phoenix as scores look to get settled in the final race of 2024. Plenty is going on, so join Andrew Clarke, Bruce WIlliams and Paul Gover on this week's Auto Action RevLimiter podcast. Waters and Kostecki win on the Gold Coast, and Sainz does the same for Ferrari in Mexico…

All the major motorsports championships around the world are closing in on their finals rounds, and all are trimming the contenders. Supercars and MotoGP are down to two, F1 is also maybe two but that is a stretch, and NASCAR still has eight… but only for one more week. So how did it all happen? We debrief Supercars on the Gold Coast and wins to Cam Waters and Brodie Kostecki, but a shocker to Chaz Mostert has left that title fight down to only Triple Eight teammates Will Brown and Broc Feeney with one round remaining. Waters said he wanted to be a nuisance, and he was. Lando Norris and Max Verstappen clashed again in F1, and this time the powers that be ruled a line in the sand under Verstappen’s petulant behaviour and driving standards and the F1 drivers told the flawed Dutchman they are over it… We’re loving the NASCAR Playoffs and can’t wait for the cut throat Supercars Finals next year, but what would have happened if the series was using our Finals system as proposed weeks ago? Hint – Chaz is out of the running, but Brodie ain’t. And if you are on the AC Delco site, use AAREVL25 for a 20% discount on all your parts. Ferrari unleased two-smoking guns in Texas & MotoGP stunning at Phillip Island

It is episode 42 for this year, which means we need to explore a little of life, the universe and everything. But we’ll start with the Ferrari one-two in Austin, Texas, and talk a little bit about the bullshit penalty handed out to Lando Norris for being forced off the track by an out-of-control Max Verstappen – we tend to think he’s not out of talent; however, his race craft is pretty poor for a three-time world champion. Although he can winge better than most Poms. We chat briefly about MotoGP and the stunning ride by young Aussie Senna Agius in Moto2 – our next motorcycle racing hero. Then things get heated when Bruce tries to defend this year’s Bathurst 1000 and 'drive as fast as you can' as a strategy, which PG and Andrew didn’t think was a strategy. Then we peeled him off the roof and closed the show. All this and more on the latest episode of the Auto Action RevLimiter. How did Brodie Kostecki and Todd Hazelwood smash the 2024 Bathurst 1000?

Brodie Kostecki and Todd Hazelwood dominated the 2024 Bathurst 1000 in the #1 Chiko Camaro. Kostecki was back to his brilliant best, and Hazelwood was the best of the co-drivers. Red Bull Ampol Racing filled the minor spots on the podium in the fastest ever Bathurst 1000, with only one Safety Car at a convenient, for some, 29 laps from home - or one full tank of fuel. Plenty of other stuff went down too. We have a little bit of other news in #NASCAR and #Sprintcars and the change to our shareholders list, with Betty Klimenko coming on board as an equal partner to Bruce and Andrew. Reflections on Daniel Ricciardo and not so much about Renault engines

This week on the Auto Action RevLimiter we reflect on the career of Daniel Ricciardo, who deserved a lot more respect than Red Bull showed him. We also look at Renault shutting down its engine program and what that may mean for the Alpine team. And what about the anti-trust? Does this all open the door for Andretti? What is happening with the Ford engines for Bathurst? When did we all go there for the first time, and what has changed since then, aside from many more potholes on the road?   Plus, we’ve got the latest news from NASCAR, World Rally, and Speedway, which is ramping up again now that the weather is better. And we also look at the life of an all-round good bloke and great racer Peter Fitzgerald. We’ve got a little bit of NASCAR and SVG, along with the World Rally Championship and more on the latest edition of the Auto Action RevLimiter. And check out https://autoaction.com.au/ for all the latest updates and dropping news.

Norris puts F1 title on the table, and we reflect on Mark Skaife's time on the RACE board...

Lando Norris has asked for the Jaws music after dominating the Singapore Grand Prix and closing the gap to Max Verstappen to only a fraction more than two race wins. The title hunt is alive, and with Oscar Piastri ready to take points off the reigning champ, it may only be a matter of races before Norris snatches the lead in the drivers' title, just as McLaren did to the constructors' championship last week… which is just as well, because there are only six races left now. We look at the impressive young Argentinian Franco Colapinto while reflecting on Daniel Ricciardo, who may have just driven his final Grand Prix… much to our disgust. A bit of Supercars with the news that Mark Skaife has resigned from the RACE and Supercar Boards, leaving the sport open to negotiate a new TV deal without any conflicts. We reflect on his time and his critical role in getting Supercars to where it is today. And what about those Ford engines? Will they be OK for Bathurst? Are there really GT3 cranks heading down under? We’ve got a little bit of NASCAR and SVG, along with the World Rally Championship and more on the latest edition of the Auto Action RevLimiter. And check out https://autoaction.com.au/ for all the latest updates and dropping news.

Toyota is going Supercars, the news that overshadowed the Sandown 500 and another GP win for Oscar Piastri

It is a news story more than 20 years in the making, but the largest vehicle manufacturer in the world, as opposed to the manufacturer of the largest vehicles in the world, has signed up to go Supercars racing. Toyota joins Australia’s largest motor racing series in 2026 with Walkinshaw Andretti United and one other yet-to-be-identified team for at least five seasons. But what does it really mean? Auto Action’s Bruce Williams was at the launch, and he dissected the meaning of life with Andrew Clarke and Toyota’s unofficial spokesperson, Paul Gover. We talk about Oscar Piastri’s win in the Azerbaijan Grand Prix and how he has helped take McLaren back to the top of the F1 pile. But what happened to Carlos Sainz and Sergio Perez, and where was Lando Norris and Max Verstappen? Then it is Supercars and the Sandown 478, previously known as the Sandown 500 and Red Bull Ampol Racing domination and a podium to everyone’s favourite team, PremiAir Racing. But what was happening to those Ford engines on the eve of Bathurst? How would they do 1000 km when they can’t even get through a drive day? Plus a little bit of NASCAR and IndyCar… All this and more on the Auto Action RevLimiter. And check out https://autoaction.com.au/ for all the latest updates and dropping news. And apologies for the sound; much of this was recorded on the road.
