Racing mourns the loss of Michael O’Sullivan as racing resumes in England this weekend. We start this week on the sombre passing of one of the bright young stars un national hunt racing.This week, racing mourned the loss of Cork born jockey Micheal O’Sullivan, who following a fall at Thurles two weeks ago, very tragically lost his battle against life on Sunday 16th February.Michael was associated closely with Barry Connell’s stables in Ireland until the start of this season, and was known best for riding a cheltenham festival day one double in 2023, landing the Boodles handicap after he raised the roof with a win on Marine Nationale in the Sky Bet Supreme.At just 24 years of age, Michael graduated out of that festival claim at the time to ride an abundance of winners, and was rapidly becoming one of the star names in the sport over in Ireland.We reflect on his amazing young and untimely death, and have action from Kempton, A Ryanair preview and more choices towards the Cheltenham Festival in 3 weeks time.

With racing a little quieter over the next week or so, Cotty joins Harrison to take an early assessment of the major races for the 2025 Cheltenham festival which is just 9 weeks away! This comes after we recap the crucial christmas period, which seen the returns of Galopin Des Champs, Sir Gino, Home By The Lee & Constitution Hill to name but a few. We give our early predictions about how the championship divisions will play out, as well as some each way punts for the Boodles Gold Cup. Jonbon and Energumene light up the champion chase division and it’s Cheltmas!! Two superb runs to look back on from the weekend as the veteran Energumene matched the successes of Jonbon who landed his second tingle creek in as many years for Seven Barrows. We also hace racing once again from Cheltenham this weekend, with their annual Christmas bonanza, including a good renewal of the December gold cup and a strong set of handicaps on the Friday also. One more to add to the Cheltenham choice stables for Matty and a horse which comes with a lot of potential, tune in to find out who he’s taking at 25/1 for the Turners in March. Lossiemouth you beauty! A sensational run from the Willie Mullins Mare who took down Teahupoo in the Hatton’s Grace on Sunday to throw her hat into the champion hurdle ring in emphatic style. She headlined a big weekend of racing which seen the likes of Sir Gino, Croke Park and Anzadam land big pots both sides of the Irish sea. It’s back to the best of Britain this week, as we take you through the best of a good weekends racing at Sandown Park, including the grade one Tingle Creek as Jonbon is a short price to defend his crown. There is also plenty of handicap action, which includes a trip to aintree as they jump over the grand national fences in the Becher chase in Liverpool.
