A comedian pulls up to the Big Pheez Podcast with a hot take on the state of stand-up: he agrees with Corey Holcomb — too many of today's comics lean on crowd work instead of carrying an arsenal of written, well-prepared jokes. They Took R&B Away First — Is That Why Hip-Hop Is Struggling?
Before hip-hop, it was rhythm and blues. The greats — Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis, Patti — had Black musicians behind them, because R&B is where the soul of the music comes from. The take in this clip: they took R&B away first, on purpose, to make everything else struggle — and hip-hop is in a huge...

50 Cent Only Had ONE Hit Album?
50 Cent only had ONE hit album — Get Rich or Die Tryin'. The Massacre sold off the first album's momentum but musically it was a flop, everything after that fell off, and even Rick Ross is more consistent than 50 — while Jay-Z dominated 20-plus years album after album (except 4:44 — that was the...

Metro Fare Evasion — COVID Created a Virus With No Cure
When COVID hit, everybody rode free — and that created a virus with no cure. Now nobody's paying: quote the fare and you get an argument, working people see everybody else riding free so they stop paying too, and it turned into a domino effect — a bus driver in Culver City just got killed behind...

Go-Go Got $3 Million and Did Nothing With It?
DC is Chocolate City and go-go is our sound — but it never made it outside the city. The city put millions behind go-go and nothing happened with it, when that kind of budget could've picked one band and pushed a real national sound. Why has go-go never gone national — is it the money, the bands,...

Is the Industry Destroying Black Music?
They're not just taking Black music — they're trying to make it extinct. From the slavery days to the chain gang, our creativity always came out of the struggle, and now it's being destroyed from the inside. Is the industry really killing Black music, or can we bring it back ourselves?

Trade Jayden Daniels to Vegas? — Part 1
The Commanders are running Jayden Daniels into the ground — the best move last season was trading him to Vegas, where he could've sat behind Kirk Cousins, healed up right, and been taken care of by Tom Brady while Washington took the number one pick. Instead they're risking his whole contract...

Tank Is the Worst R&B Representation Out the DMV?
Tank might be the worst representation of R&B talent to come out the DMV — no hit records to stand on, a horrible Verzuz against Tyrese, and a whole lot of gimmicks to stay talked about. Ari Lennox and Amerie got more claim than him out this area. Is Tank really last when it comes to DMV R&B, or…

Wale Is a Better Rapper Than Drake, Kendrick & Cole? — The Top 6 Debate
Straight rapping — not artistry, not hits — we ranked Wale, Kendrick, Drake, J. Cole, Big Sean and Meek Mill, and Wale came out number one with Drake dead last.
