Our absence didn't help white people gain any self-control to make sure that Puerto Rico gets the aid, resources, and proper infrastructure it deserves. Institutions like the NFL and NBA have refused to perpetuate a culture that celebrates the human right to protest. Instead, they have chosen to embrace a more authoritarian approach that increases punishment, stigma, and coercion in the name of "patriotism." We at The Black Joy Mixtape vow to protect Black femmes and exhaust their divinity so that we can make a safer world for ourselves and our siblings like Terry Crews. No tired Dove ads nor ESPN suspensions formed against us shall prosper.

Meanwhile, Black people are finding Black Joy by time traveling across millenia just to show they still the baddest at AfroPunk. More of that, less uncontrollable white people. That's how we'll win.

The solar eclipse has us shedding fake ass Confederate legacies, anti-Black demons, and prison & criminal justice systems. We hope to call in Cardi B's first number 1 on billboard, thriving Black futures, and monuments for all the greats ranging from yo mama to Missy Elliott.

White people have no self-control. Our calendar had the High Priestess of Black Joy and Da King of the South on Sunday, recording less than 24 hours after white peril and destruction descended onto Charlottesville, VA for the 2nd time in 6 weeks. And the ACLU saw fit to let us know they not only support such terrorism but demand it continue to be protected as "free speech." We at The Black Joy Mixtape had time this week to define global white terrorism, explain why white supremacy at its root can't actually protect all white people, and give Black people a reading list that encourages them to continue to fight and defend themselves.

Black Joy Mixtape will bring Fire & Fury to anyone who shame fat Black women, affirm the actiions of racists rather than those who protest them, and jeporadize the well-being of all Black children.

Wow. Your favorite news between avoiding suspicious packages and being lemonades, the high priestess & king are just trying to survive the week. The president of toothless America or the cis Black isn't giving us much to work with though. Trans folks are not jokes but we have a few for the Cool Colorblind crew...and white folks too.

Look Alive! Trans people are not a burden, but Rick Ross' sexism definitely is. The same week that Janet Mock made an appearance on The Breakfast Club to affirm the existence of trans people within the hip hop communities, president 9 announced via Twitter that trans people are banned from serving in the military. We talk with DC storyteller & former cop, Morgan Givens to discuss the realities of trans healthcare, love, & the necessity and possibility of honoring the full humanity of trans Black people.

We learned something from Mariah Carey this week. So, major takeaways: Trust Black Women. Make R. Kelly a hidden figure. The Cool Colored Colorblind had Mike Vick's probate. This week showed little signs of progress because: Jeff Sessions lying at DARE Conferences to create propaganda to fuel the 2017 war on drugs; there are still a bunch of lies about 9 & his people's involvement with Russia, white presidents have the nerve to talk down about Africa; Black trans women are not safe or properly cared for in prisons; and a lot of Black men are more invested in upholding white supremacy than supporting Black women like Blac Chyna--like us, like Recy Taylor, like Eyricka King. Umar Johnson will never have the answers...or a school.

We're back and EVERYTHING IS IN SHAKA! Your fav Petty Black Feminists and Tedx alum came back to revenge porn, fragile masculinity, and this person claiming to be president is requesting too much information about voters. At least we also came back to 4:44, a fund by Remy Ma to expand reproductive access, 2 Chainz Trap Clinic, and the #BlackJoyJubilee!

Michael Flynn refused a Senate subpoena, the humanities don’t exist in 9’s impossible budget, and the people of Yemen are on the verge of extension from preventable things like war and cholera… But Solange is creating and stomping out odes to us. And there might be some famous Black twins dropping with the moon in Gemini. This is for us. Because Dinka declared it so.

From brawls at graduation to brawls with Turkey's Presidential security, Amber and Jaz are just left with a lot of questions. Jimmy ain’t the only one updating his linkedin profile this week. The U.S. Census Bureau Director, John Thompson is stepping down because he's trying to make the 2020 census happen with a budget that can only cover a couple hundred tally marks and rubber bands. Thankfully, The Twins are letting y’all know that they’re on their way to become your future grandchildren’s faves by dramatically changing their legendary mother, Beyoncé. Beyoncé’s rep Yvette Noel-Schure won't let you disrespect Beyonce about their appearance or any other pregnant person for that matter. Jenn talks about surprises during her pregnancy, how to respect mothers, and how to create communities for mothers.

Black women are well on their way with the telling of the Henrietta Lacks and her family’s story and National Mama’s Bail Out Day this Mother’s Day of action!

We gave news & politics 2 weeks and all it could do was prop Tomi Lohren as the great reproductive rights hope, 9 proposing to cut 62 agencies, Secretary Rex Tillerson being unsure about how long America & China can remain cordial, and ask Chimamanda about her misguided ass thoughts about trans women. NO! Black women still prevail as da gods though! #ATLOrgy only had who should have participated with a spread of condoms, lubes, and dental damns from Dekalb County Health Department! We remain hopeful with new aspirations for our Black Futures vision boards because there are rivers in the world who are honored as people! Let's celebrate on April 17th at Smith's Public Trust in DC when we host The River Kings Tour concert!

Over 100 HBCU presidents and Black male political correspondents decided to protect their interests rather than continuing the resistance that Black women started when 94% of them said "no to 9". Thankfully, the people are assembling and running for public office to make sure democracy is protected and actually represents our interests. Mayoral Candidate, Chokwe Antar Lumumba of Jackson, Mississippi made a special appeal on the Black Joy Mixtape for why a people's agenda and our communities matter.
