On Friday May 9, 2025 we are having a Movie Night benefiting Family Matters PoCo. It is a hygiene drive to stock the pantry at Family Matters. Come join us!More info about Family Matters: Family Matters was started in 2006 with a grant from the Indiana Association of United Ways and their collaboration with the Lilly Foundation. Each community with a United Way came up with a project or program that local citizens selected through a series of listening sessions. It was found that were a number of programs available, and there were also need for access to the programs, but there wasn't an easy connection. Family Matters became that connection. We answer more than 1,200 phone calls each year. Resource and information is provided for financial needs, volunteer opportunities, Safe Sleep education and baby beds, hygiene products, as well as, public availability of our computers, copy and fax.  We collaborate with many community agencies and organizations to answer the needs of our families. ANYONE can call us to find resources!

Szn 3, Epi 2: "The goal is to define bullying, and learn ways to respond to bullying behavior when it happens." -CharacterStrong Mrs. Brothers & Mr. Weaver sit down with a student panel and have conversations pertaining to bullying. It's a good one. We are always PROUD of the maturity and honesty that MVJHS students demonstrate during our unrehearsed BobCasts. At MVJHS, we want our everyone to feel safe and included at school. Understanding how to prevent and respond to bullying makes that happen.

Szn 3: Bullying Prevention Intro Episode 1 We are back and LIVE (semi-live) with the BobCast! October was first declared as National Bullying Prevention Month in 2006. Since then, October has been a time to acknowledge that bullying has devastating effects on children and families such as school avoidance, loss of self-esteem, increased anxiety, and depression. Bullying can occur in multiple ways. CharacterSTRONG: Bullying prevention, along with addressing student behavior, chronic absenteeism, and mental health, remains a top priority for educators across the country. At CharacterStrong, we've been listening and have developed a proactive approach to equip students with the necessary social-emotional skills to foster a positive and inclusive school environment.  Our proactive strategy involves integrating social-emotional skills like empathy, respect, and conflict resolution into the curriculum. By explicitly teaching and practicing these skills, schools can create a foundation for a positive environment.
