The Deal of a Lifetime? & Inflating Realities – Top 3 Takeaways – May 14th, 2026
The bottom line is that what we’re seeing playout right now isn’t sustainable. Something will give, and if it isn’t a resolution to conflicts overseas rather quickly, it will be the economy domestically. Let’s pray that’s not the case and that some serious deal making moves the needle. After all, with 47% of the country’s oil coming through the Strait of Hormuz, China wants resolution with Iran even more than we do.

Q&A of the Day – Migration Trends if Florida Eliminates Property Taxes
If Florida eliminates homesteaded property taxes, those who benefit most are those who either already are homesteaded property owners and those who already own property here that could become homesteaded. Those who would seek to relocate here after the policy impact would see less inventory available, and higher prices they’d have to pay for homes impacting the affordability dynamic for many.

Florida’s Voter Registration by Party – May 13th, 2026
The Republican advantage over Democrats now stands at a record 1,505,374. The total includes a net change of 12,952 voters in April. Of Florida’s 67 counties – only 8 currently have Democrat majorities by way of voter registration. It's clear that the trends that were in place prior to 2024’s election cycle have continued to play out after it as well.

What’s Up w/Stocks, Cryptos, Gold & Silver? Brian Mudd’s Market Update May 11th, 2026
While last week featured some of the highest prices for gas in years, it also featured the longest winning streak for the S&P 500 in years as a combination of outstanding earnings and better than expected jobs reports from ADP and the BLS powered stocks to record highs yet again. To date the AI tech boom has proved to be both accretive to the U.S. economy and to the labor market thus far in a move that’s surprised many.

One Week, Four Score? & 25 Years Ago – Top 3 Takeaways – May 8th, 2026
On Wednesday reports suggested there maybe, could be, peace in the middle east imminently. On Thursday that turned into talk of what perhaps could be one week? That’s what President Trump said it may take to hash out terms with Iran on a peace deal. And that wasn’t the only less than ideal related news item yesterday.

May’s Hurricane History - 2026
While it’s not yet “officially” hurricane season, being prepared now essentially makes as much sense as being prepared in June. In fact, starting in 2019 during the streak of May storms, the National Hurricane Center began their daily tracking updates on May 15th. The storms don’t choose specific dates on calendars the way we do. Historically about 3% of named storms and hurricanes happen before hurricane season officially starts.

Deal or No Deal? And the U.S. Economy Is Dealing... – Top 3 Takeaways – May 7th, 2026
The question entering Wednesday was whether the pause of Project Freedom amid news of a potential Iranian peace deal was in effect ground hog day...or whether yesterday would truly be a monumental day of change in the middle east. According to Axios – which was the first to break detailed news of a potential deal in the making, a one-page memorandum was under serious consideration for ratification by Iran.

Q&A of the Day – Teacher Benefits vs. Private Sector Benefits
As I stated yesterday, a debate can still be had about what appropriate levels of compensation should be for teachers and whether the CTA demanded raise of 4.8% or the PBC School District offered raise of 1.5% is most appropriate, however first the facts should be established which is not something I’ve not seen occur with any news reporting other than what I’ve covered over the years. This has often placed me in the crosshairs of teachers – which isn’t inherently my intention to do. As always there are two sides to stories and one side to facts. These are facts and the basis for any honest conversation regarding this topic.

Q&A – Who Was & Wasn’t Paid During the DHS Shutdown?
The partial shutdown of the Department of Homeland Security which began on February 14th, due to Democrat demands to expose identifies of Border Patrol and ICE employees and to significantly limit their abilities to enforce the law. The DHS shutdown is the longest funding lapse on record for any federal government department - exceeding the record established just last fall – which is why increasingly even essential impacted federal government employees are exiting their roles.
