Mark Christopher Lee of NUB TV

This edition is brought to you in association with Old Glory Tee-Shirts and fan merch. Please scroll down to find the link in order to get your 15% listener discount.Mark Christopher Lee of NUB TV pops by to tell us about his latest documentary, King of UFO's, which take an in-depth look at the Royal Family and their deep interest in UFO's and the paranormal. The King of UFOs is a new entertaining thought-provoking documentary which explores the British royal family’s interest in UFOS and the unexplained - appealing to both UFO believers and fans of The Crown! It is now streaming on Amazon Prime (free for Prime members):https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/video/detail/B0DH74P3JH/ref=atv_dp_share_cu_rThe film looks at the interest that the late Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip had in UFOs and crop circles. It delves into an episode where Prince Phillip was due to meet an alleged alien called Janus at a flat in Chelsea. This Janus had already met with Phillip's top aide Sir Peter Horsley, and he wanted to pass on information about saving the planet to Phillip. The meeting never took place, and it is most likely that this Janus character was actually a Russian Spy. The film also interviews Richard Felix a historian known for starring in TV's Most Haunted. He talks about the Vatican having UFO secrets hidden in its archives. Felix states: "The Queen has alleged to have requested documents from the Vatican Secret Archives. The headquarters of the Catholic church has a well-known secret archive where documents go back thousands of years, possibly detailing the origins of Christianity and such like. But also, there are allegations that they're holding the truth about the UFO phenomena - 53 miles of corridors full of secret documents and items including skulls of extraterrestrials down in the cellars amongst other things. Although they believe the world to be 6,400 years old, they are into aliens. They've got an observatory in Arizona. They have an observatory at the Pope's Summer palace in Rome. The film has exclusive access to unreleased archives and interviews with witnesses and explores the extraordinary claims that the then Prince Charles piloted an experimental UFO craft in Canada in 1975.A Canadian diver who was working on a secret military project at Sandy Point states that the craft was powered by an electromagnetic force and Charles was one of 3 pilots in the craft who were taking it to the NASA base at Langley in the US. He adds that the because of the dangerous magnetic forces involved in the propulsion of the craft, Charles’s skill as a pilot undoubtedly saved lives that day. He also adds that the craft was submersible and may have been the same craft that led to the famous Shag Harbour UFO incident which happened nearby in 1967.This edition of the Chatterbox Redux podcast is brought to you in association with Old Glory, who offer over 300,000 items for music, sports, entertainment, and pop culture fans, featuring officially licensed merch from iconic bands and top sports teams. The Ingrid (Josh and Jess)

Today's episode is brought to you in association with the Strong Coffee Company. Please scroll down to the bottom for your exclusive 20% discount. Listen out for more from the Strong Coffee Company on today's podcast.Today we are joined in the Chatterbox studio by Josh and Jess of The IngridRising UK trio, The Ingrid return with their third single Lullaby - a track that blends dream-pop, shoegaze, and alt-rock textures into something both beautiful and quietly unnerving. Drawing inspiration from artists like The Sundays, Wolf Alice, The Smiths and The Marías, The Ingrid have quickly carved out a sound defined by contrast - where melodic calm meets emotional unease, and softness gives way to something far more complex beneath the surface. Formed at university in Chichester, the trio - Jess Charleslyn, Will Hornsblow and Josh Platt - bring together a unique mix of influences. Charleslyn’s roots as a minimalist singer-songwriter (inspired by early Dodie) have evolved into layered arrangements of vocals, guitar and keys. Hornsblow’s blues-leaning guitar style cuts through the band’s dreamy textures, while Platt approaches drums with a storytelling instinct shaped by classic rock traditions.Their latest single, Lullaby, plays on the very idea its title suggests. Traditionally, a lullaby is meant to comfort - to create a sense of safety. But here, The Ingrid flips that expectation, exploring what happens when that sense of comfort feels performative rather than real. The track dives into themes of emotional illusion and surface-level empathy - the kind of connection that appears deep and sincere yet reveals itself to be something much more fragile. As Charleslyn explains: “It starts with something specific, but it’s not truly autobiographical – it’s more about a type of behaviour people recognise.” Rather than confronting its subject directly, Lullaby exists in a space of quiet awareness - observing the illusion while still engaging with it. The result is a song that feels intimate, ambiguous, and at times uncomfortably familiar. Following previous singles Limerence - a study of obsessive projection - and Mother, which explored memory and perception, Lullaby hints at a deeper thematic thread running through the band’s work. Whether intentional or not, the progression suggests a growing narrative taking shape. With increasing momentum and subtle signs of a debut album in the works, The Ingrid are steadily positioning themselves as one of the most compelling emerging voices in the UK alternative scene.www.theingridband.comElevate your coffee routine with Strong Coffee Company's "Black" instant blend and lattes. Listen out for more from the Strong Coffee Company on today's podcast. We are joined in the Chatterbox studio by Sola Akingbola of Jamiroquai.Every now and again we come across a rather outstanding artist and I think we have just found a new one...by the name of SOLA AKINGBOLA (his first name is pronounced 'Shola'). If his name is familiar, that might be because he is also the longtime percussionist with Jamiroquai.Part 1 of Sola's new album, entitled 'How Should I', will be released this Friday and the plan is to promote his music via a succession of planned single releases taken from the album, 'Touch My Soul' being the first and current one (listening and download link below). Part 2 of the album will be released in 2025 and as with Part 1, it has been recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London.Sola recently received the Best Film & TV Score BMI Award for the second year running, for his work on Bob Hearts Abishola which attracted over 5 million viewers for its most recent season five. In between his work with Jamiroquai, Sola has been writing scores for the Royal Shakespeare Company and the National Theatre’s production of Othello in 2023.Sola Akingbola Percussionist for Jamiroquai.Back-to-back MBI Award Winner for Best Television Music Score in 2023 & 2024 (US hit TV comedy ‘Bob Hearts Abishola).Co-Composer of The National Theatre’s production of Othello in 2023.Composer and performer in the Royal Shakespeare Company’s production of Hamlet in 2016/2017 featuring a young Paapa Esiedu.Met Diego Maradona in Argentina at an amazing restaurant in Buenos Aires that sold the best chocolate cakes he’d ever tasted!-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------How Should I, is an album that has three sources or rivers if you like and album speaks and asks questions of the ideas of Family, Identity and Spirit. Each track can be heard and visualised as a vista, inner and outer. Once we have entered that inner space and pushed through the realms of darkness and difficulty, coming back into the connected outer world, for most of us, we cannot be in or see the world in the same way, hence the title ‘How Should I’. These ideas are universal, all cultures have their modes of expressing this tension and awareness and the many interpretations as to how to express it.We recorded most of this album live. I felt that it was important to capture the way we played together in the various studios we recorded in. Each recording space had its own atmosphere, which brought something to the sound and songs. The compositions are a homage to the great songwriters of the past and the way music was played and performed. It is hard to beat that feeling of being in a room with great musicians and getting ready to laydown something that felt special.Elevate your coffee routine with Strong Coffee Company's "Black" instant blend and lattes. Rob Reynolds of Lake

This edition is brought to you in association with Old Glory Tee-Shirts and fan merch. Please scroll down to find the link in order to get your 15% listener discount. In this edition, we are joined by Rob Reynolds, English lead-singer of the 1970's Anglo-German Rock band Lake.LAKE are back – and even after 50 years, they prove that their energy remains unbroken! The legendary German rock band release their new single Wish I Was A Sailor, which, following Boy On A Mission, offers another preview of the anniversary album set to be released later this year. With Scottish singer Ian Cussick on vocals, the track gains emotional depth, while classic LAKE elements subtly merge with modern accents. Under the direction of mastermind Detlef Petersen, the band once again showcases their unmistakable blend of powerful lead and harmony vocals and characteristic musical elegance since their reunion – clear proof that LAKE have lost none of their shine over the decades. Fans are given a direct glimpse into the band’s creative process and the unique atmosphere surrounding the creation of their new music. LAKE is one of the few German rock bands with an international history. Founded in the early 1970s between Husum and Hamburg, the band quickly developed a Westcoast rock sound with complex choral arrangements and musical elegance. Their breakthrough came in the mid-1970s: the debut album sold 400,000 copies, entered the Billboard charts and opened the doors for an extensive US tour in 1977. The crowning achievement followed in the same year with the German “Schallplattenpreis” – a knighthood for a German formation with international ambitions. With LAKE (1976), LAKE II (1978) and Paradise Island (1979), the band released the albums that are still considered their core work today. Towards the end of the 1970s, the original lineup parted ways, consisting of Detlef Petersen (Keyboards, Composition, Production, Backing Vocals), Martin Tiefensee (Bass, Backing Vocals), Geoffrey Peacey (Keyboards, Backing Vocals), Alex Conti (Lead Guitar, Backing Vocals), Dieter Ahrendt (Drums, Percussion), and James Hopkins-Harrison (Vocals). After years of individual projects and the death of singer James Hopkins-Harrison in 1991, LAKE’s story initially seemed to have come to an end. Since 2018, Detlef Petersen has once again been working on new material together with Martin Tiefensee, Geoffrey Peacey and Alex Conti, joined by Rob Reynolds and Ian Cussick on vocals. For the new album, the band brought in further prominent support: drummer Kenny Aronoff recorded the drum tracks in Los Angeles. With the current lineup, LAKE shows that they are not relying on nostalgic retrospection but are creating music for the present. In addition to the single, further releases and concerts are planned. This edition of the Chatterbox Redux podcast is brought to you in association with Old Glory, who offer over 300,000 items for music, sports, entertainment, and pop culture fans, featuring officially licensed merch from iconic bands and top sports teams. Listen out for more from the Strong Coffee Company on today's podcast.Sue, Nick and Twinkle the Tuxedo Cat are joined in the Chatterbox Studio by Louise Aubrie.Louise Aubrie is a London-born, indie rock artist who splits her time between the UK and the US. Having started her career writing and recording in London, she then went on to hone her sound on the stages of downtown New York, building a transatlantic career defined by sharp songwriting and a punchy, guitar-driven edge. Over the years, she has had the privilege to record at legendary studios including Abbey Road in London and East West Studios in Hollywood, carving out a sound shaped by the energy of the cities she calls home. Her new single Midnight Calls is the first release from her sixth studio album, LFA, and marks the first record she has written and recorded in Los Angeles. Written during her time living on the West Coast and tracked at East West Studios on Sunset Boulevard, the album was produced and mixed by Ken Sluiter. At its heart, LFA is a love letter from London to LA, shaped by the experience of relocating and absorbing the mythology of Hollywood. Driving through the city at all hours, inspired by the Hollywood Hills and the legacy of those who built the industry, the song captures that sense of being on the brink of change. Lines like “I’m on the edge and you’ve got the looks that kill” reflect both the emotional shift of moving home and the heightened drama of Los Angeles itself. The songwriter shares, “It’s always interesting when you have a life in both the UK and US as I find I am awake at all times of the day and night catching up with people, which can trick your brain into new areas of creativity.” Tight and punchy, it sets the tone for a record that draws from personal experience and classic film history alike. Across her career, Aubrie has worked with an impressive roster of musicians including Keith Scott, Solomon Walker, Charlie Paxson and Roger Joseph Manning Jr, and has performed at renowned venues such as The 100 Club in London and The Bowery Electric in New York. Her debut album Fingers Crossed…, produced by Boz Boorer, received critical acclaim in both the UK and US, earning national radio airplay and praise from Billboard. She has since secured airplay across BBC Radio 2, BBC 6 Music, Kerrang and BBC Radio London, steadily building an international audience. With LFA on the horizon, Midnight Calls signals a confident new chapter, one that bridges London grit with Los Angeles scale.www.louiseaubrie.comElevate your coffee routine with Strong Coffee Company's "Black" instant blend and lattes. With their sharp Mod looks and a host of national TV appearances behind them, Love Affair found themselves enjoying the kind of exposure and adulation that was being afforded to the likes of the Beatles and Rolling Stones.Their version of Everlasting Love remains a stone-cold classic, one which not only reached number one in the UK, but went Top 10 in 7 other countries and has amassed over 10 million sales to date. Its enduring charm has seen it copied by everyone from U2 to the Cast from Casualty, as well as appearing in numerous films and adverts globally. However, the only member of Love Affair to appear on the actual record is Steve Ellis and it’s this fact that provides the backdrop to a 50-year tale of triumph, tragedy and resurrection. This edition of the Chatterbox Redux podcast is brought to you in association with Old Glory, who offer over 300,000 items for music, sports, entertainment, and pop culture fans, featuring officially licensed merch from iconic bands and top sports teams. Sean Griffin

Today's episode is brought to you in association with the Strong Coffee Company. Please scroll down to the bottom for your exclusive 20% discount. Listen out for more from the Strong Coffee Company on today's podcast. In this edition of the Chatterbox Redux Podcast Nick, Sue and Twinkle are joined in the Chatterbox Studio by Irish-American Singer-Songwriter Sean Griffin.Sean Griffin’s People Are Mad is, in a sense, decades in the making. The album arrives after 25 years of The Ruffians becoming a formidable voice in Irish punk rock, a reputation that’s led to them sharing the stage with Irish punk icon Shane McGowan and earned them the distinction of being called the “Y-Generation Pogues” by legendary rock critic Jim DeRogatiis. The project is a deeply felt collection of songs pulled from both Griffin’s present day and his past. Extending the burly, rambunctious sound established under The Ruffians while bringing his multifaceted songwriting to the foreground, Griffin reached out to Grammy-winning producer Kenny Siegal (Langhorne Slim, Chris Whitley) in 2023, and the pair got to work and recorded the entire album within the year while capturing the same in-the-room sound that The Ruffians built their name on.That live feel was brought to a perfect finish courtesy of Grammy-winning engineer Mathew Cullen, as well as respective mixing and mastering jobs by Paul Kolderie and Greg Calbi. The project also features contributions from Lee Falco on drums, Brandon Morrison on bass, Will Bryant on keyboards, Siegal throwing in pedal steel and guitar contributions, fiddle player Eugene Bender, and harpist Michaela Davis. In addition, Wreckless Eric, Jolynda “Kiki” Phillips, Kaia Dedek and Jules Olsen provided backup vocals. Across the record, Griffin brings in a wide variety of his own instruments as well – including a Gibson ES-135 that he bought from former bandmate Charles Butler. “I’ve played hundreds of shows with it,” he says about the guitar that he plays across People Are Mad. “There’s something magical about picking it up with a fresh set of strings. Gibson guitars just speak to a part of my soul, and they’ve been on so many records that formed me as a musician.” Griffin also wields a Remo Bodhran, the traditional Irish drum that he frequently brings out for live performances. “I love its stability and durability,” he says. “When I dig into it, it always gives back what I put in. It’s always a special moment when I bring it out. It makes people ask, 'What is that?'." I'm trying to take people on a journey through different types of experiences.” At the end of the day, People Are Mad is a natural extension of what Griffin’s been known for since The Ruffians took the stage for the very first time more than 25 years ago – as well as a full realization of what drives him as a songwriter and musician. “What stays the same for me is the urgency to want to have songs that I've written see the light of day,” he ruminates while talking about how this album represents the latest phase of his career.People Are Mad Tracklist: 1. Listen out for more from the Strong Coffee Company on today's podcast.Today Nick, Sue and Twinkle the Tuxedo cat are joined in the Chatterbox Studio by USA singer Jesse Lynn Madera.American singer-songwriter Jesse Lynn Madera has unveiled her “back-pocket” brilliant new single, ‘Woke Up in LA’. Drawing on the allure of Los Angeles and looking back at her time in New York, the new release is an intimate exploration of loneliness and revival between two loving partners. ‘Woke Up In LA’ speaks to the loneliness of moving to a new city, leaving all your friends and life behind and not having a support system in place. The feeling of being entirely alone, while surrounded by crowds. The isolation can be so palpable that you wish you were anywhere but here. But you wake up in the morning, in the same place, and start all over again. Musician Madera says: “‘Woke Up In LA’ has been a back-pocket song for over 10 years, waiting for its right time. It is a testament to resilience and the persistence of love, even through “the dog days”. Some of the lyrics were teased from Madera’s early days of living in Los Angeles after moving from New York City. “It’s the artist’s job to reflect the truth, to hopefully help the listener feel seen and understood through having the courage to try to understand ourselves.” News of Madera’s latest single came alongside the announcement of her US tour dates.Jesse will also be making her UK debut supporting legendary musician Colin Blunstone 16-date tour, stopping off at renowned venues such as Stoller Hall in Manchester, Howard Assembly Room in Leeds and closing out in London’s famous Union Chapel. Ella Clayton

Today Sue and Nick are joined in the Chatterbox studio by Ella Clayton.ELLA CLAYTON is a singer/songwriter from London whose breathtaking voice and storytelling ability casts powerful spells over each audience she encounters. She released her first LP, ‘Murmurations’, at the end of 2022. With her second studio album ‘Could It Be You?’ due to be released 24th April, East London singer-songwriter Ella Clayton spotlights lead single ‘As You Are’ a love song of a different kind. Recorded at George Ezra’s studio Hotel Quebec, the closing track ‘As You Are’ is a sunny lead single, containing a big crescendo with an extended finale. It is a rare love song about friendship, sparked by a mundane moment of spotting a close friend haggling for jeans at a market stall, unaware she was being watched. A warm nod to how platonic love is worth celebrating just as loudly as the romantic one.Blending soulful folk storytelling with emotional honesty, Ella continues to enchant audiences with her mesmeric vocals and relatable lyrics. The new record (out 24th April) transforms uncertainty into revelation with 11 songs mapping out modern love, loneliness and the quiet process of getting to know yourself, offering listeners both solace and self-recognition.Along with producer Lester Duval (Pip Millet, Alfa Mist) Ella wanted this record to feel like a warm hug and to sound like musicians playing together in the same room. With George Ezra kindly offering up his Hotel Quebec studio for three days, they were able to track the rhythm section for all songs live. The result is a piece of work that captures the raw immediacy of Ella’s beloved live-stage sound, while making space for lush and cinematic moments throughout. Genre-bending, her unique voice is the thread that weaves throughout.BIO: Ella Clayton is a soulful, folk singer-songwriter born and raised in East London. Andi Jane (2nd interview)

In this edition, awesome country / honky-tonk singer-songwriter Andi Jane re-joins Sue and Nick in the Chatterbox studio for her second interviewHere she discusses the tracks on her new album "The Ground Is Changing", on her website, Andi says; "This album is a love story, but not the fairytale kind. The cataclysmic kind that shakes you to your core and changes you forever. The kind that ends in songs rather than promises. For the ground is changing, right under our feet. The trees can fall, and the water can take the island right from me. The meadow might burn… But honey, don’t yearn for the way it used to be. "Andi Jane grew up on a homestead at the end of a dirt road in small-town central Illinois, where singing and imagination ruled her world. After moving to Chicago, she formed a dance-rock band and later became a DJ, chasing sound and energy before eventually finding her way back to signwriting. It wasn’t until she moved to Nashville eight years ago that she wrote her first Americana song—and suddenly realized she had come home.Raised on ’90s country and the cassette tapes of Patsy Cline and Loretta Lynn, those early roots ran deep, as adulthood brought new music that blurred the lines between genres in her writing. She started calling the result the Honky-Tonk Cabaret: a style rooted in storytelling and drama, where bluegrass meets theatre and country brushes up against jazz. Her debut album, The Ground is Changing, leans bluegrass in spirit—banjo, fiddle, mandolin, guitar, and upright bass at its core—while bending tradition with washboard, drums, and blues-soaked dobro. The philosophical heart of the album lives in its title track, “Teardrop Island,” co-written with Craig Anderson—the other half of the album’s central love story. The song reflects on the idea that the ground beneath us is always changing, and that growth comes not from resisting that movement, but from learning to evolve with it. This sentiment shapes the entire record: heartbreak is not the end point, but a catalyst for self-knowledge, creativity, and redirection. While the love story anchors the album, The Ground Is Changing widens its lens at key moments. “Thousand Little Lies” tells a cinematic tale of a charismatic conwoman who lures her victims with promises of love, while “Running Out of Time” plays with urgency and modern anxiety through sharp wordplay and restless momentum. Together, these songs reinforce the album’s central truth—change is inevitable, and clarity comes from facing it honestly.Andi Jane’s music lives in the space between nostalgia and reinvention, where tradition is honoured but never mistaken for a boundary. Through vivid song-writing and an unmistakably expressive voice, she draws listeners into a world that is playful, dramatic, and deeply human — where heartbreak, humour, and transformation are all part of the same story.Andi Jane website - andijane.com This edition of the Chatterbox Redux podcast is brought to you in association with Old Glory, who offer over 300,000 items for music, sports, entertainment, and pop culture fans, featuring officially licensed merch from iconic bands and top sports teams. Joe Hermes (3rd Interview)

Joe Hermes joins Chatterbox for the third time to chat about his new European and UK tour, and his new single Boots on Broadway which is released in both Country and Rock versions.Joe Hermes (h•e•r•m•i•s•s), one of the hottest new acts in the Rock Country scene, is a bonafide ‘battle-tested’ entertainer. Dedicated to his pursuit and driven by his commitment to his faith, family, and belief in working for the American Dream, the Illinois native beams with pride he stands behind. The good-hearted, fun-loving former defensive lineman packs a big punch with edgy vocal textures and hard-hitting musical storylines (both intimate and boldly straight-up) that sift between the angel and devil as a stand-out signature. His raucous sound and high-energy stage performances (self-described as “gunpowder country”) originate from his earliest influences (Metallica, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Aerosmith, Pantera and Bon Jovi). Hermes strings together intense, soulful vocals, with raw, honest lyrics and his “Heart of Illinois” roots sound to rev a captivating listening experience. With the encouragement and lending hand of renowned music producer Buddy Hyatt (TOTO, George Jones, Lee Greenwood, Mickey Gilley, Tracy Lawrence), Joe recorded the EP titled SOULS WITH STONES to make his official introduction in 2020. Unintimidated by the adversity and challenges of both the music industry and the COVID shutdown, Hermes pointed his concentration toward songwriting working alongside Grammy-award-winning songwriter/producer/manager Dale Oliver. Jessica Sweetman

In this edition of the Chatterbox redux Podcast we are joined by the amazing British singer-songwriter Jessica Sweetman, who chats about her powerful new single ‘Rise Up’ - alongside a cinematic music video starring Irish actor Emmett Scanlan, known for his roles in Peaky Blinders and Kin.The euphoric folk-pop leaning track speaks to resilience, reinvention and finding strength after adversity - themes that closely echo Sweetman’s own unconventional journey through the music industry.Filmed across the coastal landscapes of Hastings, the ‘Rise Up’ video blends raw emotion with cinematic storytelling, pairing Jessica’s soaring vocals with a striking on-screen narrative alongside Scanlan. The two first connected at the Irish Post Awards in 2025, where Jessica performed the track, and Emmett attended as a presenter. After the show, Scanlan approached Sweetman about creating a music video for the song - a conversation that quickly evolved into a reality.Speaking about the collaboration, Emmett Scanlan said: “Jessica was so insanely collaborative and trusting throughout the whole process of making this video. I really felt invited into her story, her journey. The fact that the song is, in my opinion, a total beauty, was just an added bonus. I hope you love watching this video as much as we loved shooting it”Born near Birmingham and educated in Sutton Coldfield, Sweetman’s path into music began early, but under far from typical circumstances. In her mid-teens, her family relocated to Cornwall during a difficult period, spending their first year living out of a camper van while her father commuted back to Birmingham for work.It was during this turbulent time that Sweetman first began performing publicly, singing at local venues to help support the family. What started as a necessity quickly revealed itself as a calling. Encouraged by her father, who managed her early gigs, she began developing as both a performer and songwriter, teaching herself how to record demos and eventually co-produce her own music.By her late teens, Sweetman had moved to London, determined to pursue music full-time. She immersed herself in the city’s nightlife circuit, often playing multiple gigs a night in cigar bars and jazz venues around Mayfair. She honed the voice and stage presence that would become her signature while navigating the realities of life in small, often rough London flats and the relentless hustle of the gig economy. The experience forged the resilience and independence that now define her as an artist. After years on the London circuit, Jessica relocated to New York seeking a fresh creative start. Her determination soon became the stuff of industry legend when she spent two weeks secretly living and writing songs inside the Nashville offices of BMG, working through the night until label executives discovered her demos. Those recordings ultimately led to her securing a record deal with BMG. Since then, Sweetman has built a reputation as a dynamic vocalist and songwriter with songs ‘Stay Wild’ & ‘Single Bells’, as well as ‘Broken Perfect Love’ with acclaimed tenor Alfie Boe, and collaborating with Paul Oakenfold, plus opening for Van Morrison & Hozier.‘Rise Up’ arrives just ahead of Sweetman’s upcoming UK tour with acclaimed tenor Alfie Boe, beginning April 15th and includes a performance at the Royal Albert Hall. The tour follows their recent duet With a voice that moves effortlessly between vulnerability and defiance, “Rise Up” signals a defining moment for Sweetman - an artist whose story of grit, risk and reinvention mirrors the spirit of the song itself.‘Rise Up’ stands as both a personal anthem and the beginning of an ambitious new era.

    Jill Saward of Shakatak (2024)

In this edition of the Chatterbox redux Podcast, Sue & Nick are joined by Jill Saward of Shakatak. Here she talks about the groups amazing history and the fact that they are not on the retro circuit as they have never split up. As of 2023 Shakatak have four original members.Jill shares many fantastic anecdotes, including the fact that Shakatak members including herself sang and played on those old Top of The Pops albums from the late 1970's and very early 1980's. Those of us over a certain age will remember those albums on the old Hallmark label, famous for not having the original artists but had songs on them were or had recently been in the UK singles chartWikipdedia says Shakatak are an English jazz-funk band founded in 1980 by Bill Sharpe, Nigel Wright, Roger Odell and Keith Winter. An initial white label release, "Steppin", caught the attention of record labels. The band's name was created by them and derived from the name of a record store in Soho, London called "Record Shack".Shakatak have enjoyed 14 UK hit singles. The group is still active and popular throughout the world, particularly in Japan and the Far East, and generally produce a new album every two years on JVC Records. It was the release of the 1981 single "Easier Said Than Done" that gave the band the radio exposure needed for their first top-twenty hit. This record introduced their instrumental-unison vocal sound to a wider audience, and the track stayed in the UK Singles Chart for seventeen weeks. The follow-up, "Night Birds" (1982), was their first single to reach the top ten and it also peaked in Australia at number 92. The album of the same name gave Shakatak their first gold album, entering at number four and remaining in the charts for twenty-eight weeks. Jill Saward (formerly of Fusion Orchestra, Brandy and Citizen Gang) became their sole lead singer to make Shakatak's fifth album, Down on the Street (1984).In the 1990s, the band achieved success in the US when their 1992 album Open Your Eyes went to No 1 in the contemporary jazz charts.Still active, the band has released a number of albums in the 2000's. Ben Waters

Today Ben Waters joins Nick in the Chatterbox studio and discusses what is almost a Rolling Stones album in terms of the people playing on it with him... there is Mick Jagger, Charlie Watts, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood, Bill Wyman et al on it - It is an incredible story - His press release is below and the podcast is right here.BEN WATERS - BOOGIE 4 STUA TRIBUTE TO IAN STEWART - 15 YEARS ONFifteen years ago, I released Boogie 4 Stu as a heartfelt tribute to the legendary Ian Stewart - one of my biggest inspirations and a true pioneer of rock 'n' roll piano. So much has happened since then, but one thing remains unchanged: Stu's influence continues to shape everything I do.Looking back, I had no grand plan when I first started this project. I just wanted to honour the man who had given me so much, both through his music and his spirit. What started as a simple idea in a small studio in Weymouth quickly took on a life of its own. Charlie Watts, ever the gentleman, offered to play on it, and suddenly, I found myself needing a bigger space. Dave Green joined on bass, Rocket 88 legends Willie Garnet and Don Weller jumped in, and before I knew it, we were recording in Jools Holland's studio - free of charge, thanks to Jools' generosity. Then came the incredible twist: Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood, and Bill Wyman all added their magic to the album. Then came my cousin PJHarvey! It was an overwhelming experience, a gathering of some of the greatest musicians on the planet, all playing for Stu.I was introduced to Sir Peter Blake through a mutual friend, Pete Smith. Pete knew that Sir Peter Blake had seen one of the Stones' earliest shows and that he loved Stu's playing, so it was meant to be that Peter did the portrait of Stu. Thank you, Peter!Sadly, several people have passed since the initial recording. This album is also dedicated to them, particularly Willie Garnet, who was a larger-than-life character and a brilliant sax player. He was an inspiration to young musicians, and both my son Tom and I were guided by him so much - we miss him terribly.I am so proud that everyone on this album has been a real friend and shown kindness beyond belief. They had my back in the two years of preparation, helping me out and encouraging me every single step of the way. I can't thank them enough. I am very lucky to have such kind, thoughtful friends! It's been 40 years since Ian's passing. To mark this special anniversary, I've added some brand-new recordings to the album - tracks that carry the same raw energy and love for the blues that Ian Stewart embodied. The first is Come Back Baby; an old John Lee Hooker tune we recorded with an all-star lineup: Keith Richards, Dave Kelly, Ian Jennings, Paul Beavis, and me. This track is dedicated to the irreplaceable Charlie Watts, whose absence is felt every single day. Charlie's groove was the heartbeat of every band lucky enough to play with him, and we miss him dearly. This song is for him. Fifteen years on, Boogie 4 Stu still stands as one of the proudest moments of my career. It was about celebrating a man whose influence reached far beyond The Rolling Stones. Ian Stewart shaped rock 'n' roll piano as we know it, and I hope this record keeps his legacy alive for many years to come. So here we are,15 years later, still playing, still remembering, and still feeling the spirit of Stu in every note we play. THANKS STU!Ben Waters
