At various points our homies Rilëë, Mayar Hamden, and Dave Harris swing by to kick it. If y'all like it I'll make more of these. Oh, yeah! Also this is the penultimate episode of Seaon 1 of the Chris Gabo show. This time next week we will be dropping our season finale which was shot in front of a live studio audience at Rita House. 022 - All Rappers Finish Your Soup (04/21/25)
HAPPY 4/20 * HAPPY EASTER * FELIZ ESPASQUAZ * I have been waiting (quite impatiently) for this episode for many moons. This is the Blacc Kristoff Take Over. For those of y’all who are not familiar with these gentlemen, Blacc Kristoff is a rap group and collective from Chicago, Illinois. Shout out Nate Marshal for introducing us a few winters passed. We open the episode with a very special announcement *** drum roll please *** that starting today I am going to be dropping a brand new song every fucking week for the next six months. The songs will premiere on The Chris Gabo Show and then make their way to DSPs in staggered fashion.Apropos of the geographical lineage of our esteemed guests, the joint we premiered this week is Analisa and I's first ever collaboration "Soda In The Midwest" produced by Richie Beretta and mastered by Dave Kutch. After that we get into an incredible conversation with The Blacc Kristoff bois (find them on IG @blacckristoff.) The group includes, Shaun Peace, sean2gs, and Super DaKario. They are joined on the blue couch by their affiliates, producer Polaco, and rapper Gordon SKL. (Which by the way, y'all gotta tap in with Gordon SKL as a solo artist. Go check out his joint "Interjection" which has a feature from Shaun Peace. It's insane.)Also if you're just getting into Blacc Kristoff, check out "Steady Mobbin" on DSPs. This is a full circle moment cuz I played "Steady Mobbin" as that joint on The Chris Gabo New Music Segment on my first episode in the old format. These guys are some of my favorite musicians who not only expemplify greatness on the emcee tip, the song writing tip, and the producer tip, but they also just…how do I put this? If you study the way they get down, lessons abound about friendship and collaboration. Episode 22 of The Chris Gabo Show is on some real, each-one-teach-one shit so I hope you each...one....get........taught? Idk man. I'm barely awake. But for real, this is some elevate each other to your highest purpose shit. And finally, after a strong sixty minutes of inspirational and hilarious ass hip hop reading rainbow type shit, we end the episode with an iconic “Proving Ground" segment where reigning Chris Gabo Show Proving Groung Champion Dave Harris and the big homie Josh The Word Smith join us for a climactic bout of jousting which ended in an off air cook session that lasted till legit six in the morning word to ICE-T.Inshallah you motherfuckers enjoy this episode one one HUNDREDTH as much as we did.And with that, I'll leave you to it.Like and subscribe goddamnit!!!!!!💰💰💰💰💰💰💰💰💰💰💰💰💰💰Shit was stupid fun. Anyways. If any LA-based emcees (or touring artists passing through) think they can hang and wanna come thru to "The Proving Ground" DM me on IG @mirachrisgaboSame for any musicians looking to come guest. Holler at the kid.🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄 Please support the show by singing up for the patreon at patreon.com/thechrisgaboshow. The overhead for every episode is $400 and I don't have a job so if you like the show and wanna sponsor an episode for $400 bucks lemme know and I'll let you help pick the guests and put your name in the credits and shit. Enjoy the show!

021 - Can You Get Me A Job Or Nah? (04/14/25)
What up what up you filthy animals. This one is a banger. Analisa was sick and had to abdicate co-host duties and was sorely missed. We open with a song called "Black Dress" that me and Ebonie Smith are working on, E, blessed us with some live piano. Then TV Writer and comedian Anna Salinas (who I wrote on Season 2 of Mo with) came in and blessed us with the secrets of Latino Hollywood. Fuck the New York Crimes but yoooo shorty wrote an extremely dope piece called "Ode To A Gen Z Situationship" that y'all HAVE to check out:https://www.nytimes.com/2025/03/28/style/modern-love-ode-to-a-gen-z-situationship.htmlAfter my conversation with Anna, our illustrious musical guest, the biiiiiiig homie Benjamin Earl Turner played us two new joints hot off the press.Brief Note: The gift and the curse of this show is that we have a three day turn around from shooting to broadcast and so unfortunately we weren't able to get the instrumental file for his two joints in time but honestly they sound incredible acapella to me and I encourage y'all to get in the comments and tell Ben he's gotta come back on the show ASAP!After the songs, Ebonie had left her purse and came back up so she ended up co-hosting the music interview and the conversation was honestly thrilling. This is the shit I live for you guys. And finally we open up "The Proving Ground" segment with a beat by guest producer Virgo followed by my man Hisham Fageeh on the ones and two's, joined by special guest emcees Firefly and Merc 80. Firefly, Merc 80, and Benjamin Earl Turner smoked me you guys. I gotta get back in the gym. Jesus Christ!!!!!Anyways shit was stupid fun. And yo: if any LA-based emcees think they can hang and wanna come thru to "The Proving Ground" DM me on IG @mirachrisgabo Please support the show by signing up for the patreon at patreon.com/thechrisgaboshow. The overhead for every episode is $400 and I don't have a job lol so if you like the show and wanna sponsor an episode for $400 bucks lemme know and I'll let you help pick the guests and put your name in the credits and shit. 020 - Stop Calling It A Podcast (04/07/25)
What up what up you fucking Heathens! Beloveds! Aquaintances! First of all, I am so grateful that y'all have been rocking with me for nineteen episodes strong. For real for real. This is Episode 20. Double digits. We out here. It's your boy. This episode is Analisa Velez's second episode of her four episode contract as co-host so please comment and let her know that she needs to stay okay? Beg her. Please. I'm so serious. This episode Analisa and I had the great pleasure of interviewing my extremely hot, extremely talented, dear friend, emmy-award winning director and pea-body award winning cinematographer James Adolphus. Someone get this man a curl product sponsorship stat! We hear some wild heart breaking doc-guy war stories and discuss his forthcoming project "Gifted and Black" produced by Timbaland and Swizz Beatz. Followed by a truly stunning live performance and interview from LA-based vocalist Cor.Ece and discuss how he balances his own projects with being a part of the grammy award winning song writing team for Beyoncé's "Cozy." Then we cap off the night with volume two of my favorite segment "The Proving Ground," in which The Last Skeptik (with a fucking k not a c, Corin are you reading this babe?) DJ's *** only beats that he produced *** (which is insane) and guest rappers Quesain from Arkansas and Dave Harris from Philly come thru and fucking body every single beat, giving Analisa and I a SERIOUS run for our money goddamn!Shit was stupid fun. And yo: if any LA-based emcees think they can hang and wanna come thru to "The Proving Ground" DM me on IG @mirachrisgaboPlease support the show by signing up for the patreon at patreon.com/thechrisgaboshow.The overhead for every episode is $400 and I don't have a job lol so if you like the show and wanna sponsor an episode for $400 bucks lemme know and I'll let you help pick the guests and put your name in the credits and shit.My beloved Arturo Soria's company Vagamundo Productions got a production credit for this one cuz he booked me our incredible musical guest last minute after someone dropped. Love you papi! Also listen and this is just me talking here: this show is gonna be fucking huge. I promise. It's worth betting on. Fuck with me. Get involved early. It will be worth your wyle I promise. Okay. Enjoy the episode.Stop calling it a podcast. It's a fucking show. Xo Gabo

019 - Thursday Night Live (03/31/25)
Eid Mubarak friends and comrades! We took a big leap forward this week on Episode 19 of The Chris Gabo Show. Remember last week when I said "I don't want a fucking podcast I wanna host late night???" Well yo, thus far, this is the closest I've gotten to the type of show I ACTUALLY wanna do. This week was Analisa Velez's first episode as an official co-host, her first week of a four-week contract. SAY MASHALLAH! We opened the show by sharing a stripped down version of a song called "We Invented Love" that I've been working on with my beloved Reef Loretto, the big homie Richie Beretta the and the Likeminds luminaries with the young god Trackfingers on the piano. After that Analisa and I interviewed brother of my heart Hisham Fageeh about the current epidemic cowardice and fascist aquiesence at Columbia University. Then, we were blessed with two songs and an incredibly inspiring interview with the wildly talented Eleanor Kingston, Jordan Everett, and Grant Dacklin followed by the wildest "Proving Ground" segment yet where Analisa beat my ass in a freestyle battle DJ'd by LA legend Merc Eighty on the ones and twos. Shit was bananas. I really hope you enjot it. You have no idea how long I've wanted to say the words "we got a great show for you tonight folks" over a piano riff. Bucket list moment unlocked. Truly.

018 - War Stories And Dreams (03/24/25)
Join us on Episode 18, as Analisa and I sit down with our new friend, engineer and producer Chuck Dixon, mentee of the legendary r&b producer Harmony Samuels to share war stories about this music shit. From Chuck meeting a Liberian artist XVBZ (who he would go on to manage) through the artist's brother while at a dish washing job to my stories of being a sixteen-year-old touring rap artist making my way from Baltimore to LA with illicitly obtained green room passwords through a combination of youthful hubris, determination, and my parents 2001 Sienna Minivan. The gang also got me to finally say out loud, live on the show, something that I haven't said publically before, which is that, ultimately---I don't wan't a fucking podcast yo, I wanna host LATE NIGHT. And I reveal to them that this is more than just a pipe dream, it's something I've been plotting on for a while now. I show them my plan written in sharpie on the back of a Trader Joes bag. We also introduce our first sponsor, non-alcholic spirit brand "Three Spirit" and Analisa and I do a back-to-back combo of two written rhymes to the same beat and a genuine freestyle to a beat of Chuck's choosing to break the seal on a reoccuring segment I am rolling out called "The Proving Ground." That and more on this week's episode of The Chris Gabo Show. Mad love. Xo. Gabo.

017 - Emergency Mahmoud Khalil Episode (03/17/2025)
This weeks joint, episode 17, was supoosed to be a music episode but it felt insane to me to not address the illegal detention of Mahmoud Khalil so we switched up the program in the eleventh hour. Palestinian American producer and performing artist Deena Falconetti blessed me by coming on last minute. Listen: the entire point of what Trump is doing by sending fucking ICE goons to dissapear a human being is to scare us into submission. And yo, hats off to half of their mission I guess cuz, I for one, AM scared. So was Deena. I have a lot of friends who share my politics who are scared to talk about them publically and that was before motherfuckers were getting illegally renditioned. So I do not take it lightly that Deena agreed to discuss this topic in front of lights and cameras. It is a gesture for which I am extremely grateful. To say that Columbia University should be ashamed is beyond understatement. Palestine is the moral litmus test of our time and The West knows it. They have lost control of the narrative. The millions of dollars and countless cultural resources they have spent for generations to manufacture consent for this apartheid client state are no longer effective and they know it. Their violence is the lashing out of a dying empire but if we lock arms and refuse to bow our heads and silence our voices they will lose. I promise you they will lose. We will see a Free Palestine in this lifetime inshallah. I truly truly believe that. #freemahmoudkhalil

013 - Live From Trump's Hollywood, Unfortunately (02/03/2025)
come kick it with me in my living room as I sit down with 30 year veteran TV writer and producer, my brother in islam, Culver City's very own Farhad Shariat and Brooklyn's finest --- 20 year veteran film editor Karim López as we discuss what in the goddamn fuck is going in Hollywood and how the bullshit shall persist or be resisted in the waning days of empire and the looming Trump administration. We make wild predications. Tell some stories and do a little bit of cope. During the new music segment we play "Mistakes" by Shaun Peace and Nate Marshall which uh...frankly, seems fitting...since we are currently living in an era charactarized by a dramatic culmination of MISTAKES that probably started around the 16h Century.

012 - Waste Not, Want Not (01/27/2025)
thank y'all for your patience with the transition from friday drops to monday --- this is the first joint in the new rhythm so it took a second but I'm reallllly excited about this one. We got the refugee crew back together --- Safia Elhillo, Bahia Watson, and Reef Loretto --- plus Saila Reyes to discuss the current LA fire situation and the new Netflix Documentary "Buy Now: The Shopping Conspiracy" and the nasty shit that human beings do to the natural world and how we can think differently and perhaps....act differently? as a result of this consciousness

011 - Refugee Slumber Party (01/17/2024)
Listen man, #refugeesarewelcomehere. Safia and I got back to LA and literally saw the Palisades fire from the plane and as soon as we landed LA was in panic mode. Bahia and Reef came to stay with us, we hunkered down, and alhamdulillah we were safe and it was comforting to be together. Analisa had been supposed to literally move to LA that day but obviously cancelled her flight and since she had been the guest for this week I asked Bahia and Reef and Safia if they'd be down to take her place and they very generously agreed to. We talk fire shit. We talk community. We talk aliens. And most importantly we talk Rhythm and Flow----Jay Taj got robbed! *** mad spoilers ***

010 - I Swear We're Gonna Talk About Baby Girl feat. Fatimah Asghar (01/10/2024)
Fatimah Asghar and I cram into my cousin's old room at my tias house in Queens and get pretty shit faced with the noble intention of talking shit about Baby Girl because it made us extremely angry when we saw it together but I think we drastically underestimated how much fun this was gonna be and also how deep shit was gonna get so just to be perfectly honest with you we don't really get into the movie stuff until like the final 8 minutes but I think you'll enjoy. Also --- the big homie Caroline Mariko Stucky shot the episode very beautifully so lowkey you should watch the YouTube version. Subscribe to The Chris Gabo Show at patreon.com/thechrisgaboshow

Corin Liall Douieb aka The Last Skeptik has been a fixture of UK rap for the last twenty years, working with everyone from Kojey Radical to Giggs. We met when he moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in Hollywood. Real talk: this is the best episode of the show so far --- which, thank god, cuz it's the most recent episode and ain' that how it's supposed to go? It's only up from here inshallah! Join us for a delightful 90 minute discussion of the lineage of UK rap, with a few laughs along the way. I really hope you enjoy it. I am extremely proud of this episode. 007 - Shout Out The Face Sitters feat. Bryan Byrdlong (12/20/2025)
happy holidays ya filthy animals. this is a fun one. unfortunately all of the video files corrupted so this one is audio only but man did we have a good time. poet and organizer bryan byrdlong hailing from the best city in the mid west, my favorite country in august, chicago, came to the crib to chop it up about trump, face sitting, and a bunch of shit in between, and at the end we freestyled for like twenty minutes so the episode has a regular ending and a coda. i love you guys. i love this show. i love this process. i love my friends. free palestine. free sudan. free the guys. free my tia martha.
