Episode 405: Breaking the 100 Barrier
Many pastors find themselves stuck at the 100-member mark, unable to push past this common growth barrier. If that sounds familiar, this episode is for you! In this episode, Henry Tolbert dives deep into why breaking the 100 barrier matters, the key mindset shifts needed for growth, and five critical strategies that will position your church for sustainable expansion. Growth isn’t just about numbers—it’s about building a healthy, thriving church that serves more people, develops leaders, and fulfills its mission. If you’re tired of feeling stagnant, overworked, and stuck, this conversation will give you practical, proven steps to move forward. What You’ll Learn in This Episode: ✅ Why church growth is biblical (and why you should never feel guilty for wanting it) ✅ The leadership shift that will help you prepare for sustainable growth ✅ How to stop being the bottleneck and build a team that supports expansion ✅ Why breaking church silos is crucial to building a thriving community ✅ The power of future-focused leadership and how to position your church for what’s next Key Takeaways & Action Steps: 🔹 Be unapologetic about your desire to grow – If you hesitate to embrace growth, your church won’t naturally move forward. Cast a clear vision and communicate it boldly. 🔹 Develop a strong leadership pipeline – The team that got you here may not be the team that gets you to the next level. Start training future leaders now. 🔹 Break the silos & small cliques – Growth requires a culture shift. Ministries must be open, inclusive, and collaborative to welcome new people. 🔹 Shift from short-term to long-term thinking – Churches that break the 100 barrier prepare in advance by creating scalable systems and strategies. 🔹 Prepare for what’s next – Build your church as if it’s already growing, ensuring that processes, systems, and structures can handle an increase in attendance. Pastor Testimony: In this episode, Pastor Eric Rush shares his real-life experience of breaking the 100 barrier and the strategies that worked for his church. From redesigning their welcome experience to implementing a strong invite strategy, Pastor Rush reveals key insights that helped his church break through stagnation and step into sustained growth. EP. 11- How To Get The Most Out Of Your Team
Have you ever thought of how you can get the most out of your team now? You don’t get to choose everything. You don’t get to call and say, “Hey! I want to have the best team possible.” If all of us had a choice, then we probably have “the cream of the top” or “the best,” but we DON’T. I will not guarantee you that this will make your team perfect. However, in this episode, we will talk about some of the core things you got to wrestle through. We will also be discussing why you need to clarify your vision to your team. “Leadership is a promise to take people where they cannot go alone.” - Henry Tolbert This quote will always remind you that as a leader, you’ve got to embrace that you have to take care of your people as a leader. Of course, you don’t have to say this promise to your people verbally, but this is an unspoken promise wherein even if you didn’t tell them, they can still feel it and see it in your actions. I bet you don’t want your people to walk away, right? Don’t let them walk away, and let me help you get the most out of your team! Building New Leaders In Your Church
Growing churches are led by growing leaders. As you hope to see the vision move forward, you must develop leaders who can move at the pace of that vision. Why? Because the vision can't move itself. It has to be driven and carried by PEOPLE. Think of it this way. How many times have you gone to a conference and come home with so many takeaways and ideas? You're excited and looking forward to implementing changes. BUT, you soon discover that no one else is as excited as you are. Because they didn't share your experience, they don't share your enthusiasm. The best formula is for the entire team to share excitement and clarity around the vision. That's why you must develop a strategy to raise new leaders in the church. In this episode, Henry walks us through some insanely practical steps we can take to put a strategy in place. Head over and have a listen now and remember to keep the gears turning. Get the slideshow presentation here: www.simplesystems.cc/blog

15 Benefits of Discipleship
One of the things that the pandemic has shown us is that the church has settled. It has settled for great events and services, great buildings and facilities, great preachers and programs; and none of that is bad. However, in many ways, the church has dropped the ball when it comes to discipleship and developing people. The way we found that out is, we were put in a situation where we could no longer have fellowship and service and so much of what we do… just fell apart. Even for those of us who leveraged the virtual space and were able to help our church keep running in tough times, the lives of the people started to show us that we have dropped the ball on discipleship. In this episode, we talk about 15 reasons why your church should focus on discipleship this year. Get the Show Notes https://www.simplesystems.cc/blog/15benefitsofdiscipleship
