He also gave a preview of some of the upcoming theme nights at Energizer Park with the last one, Marvel Superhero Night, being so successful - and how the team is looking to build a more immersive experience for fans at Energizer Park for the last 9 home games of the 2026 season and looking towards a new MLS calendar structure in 2027.

During the Y98 pregame show, Jen Siess visited with St. Louis CITY SC’s fastest player, forward Sangbin Jeong ahead of the team’s road match out to the west coast to face the the San Jose Earthquakes. “Sangy” talked about his start in The Beautiful Game at age 3, playing for his father. He also described his first experience living away from his home country of South Korea when playing in the Swiss Super League at age 19, learning about the physical intensity of play in Europe. Jeong’s idol is fellow South Korean, Son Heung-min, former Tottenham Spur player now in the MLS playing with LAFC - the best memories for Jeong are pitching up against “Sonny” and scoring goals for his national team when called up - and he hopes for more goals in the remainder of the 2026 season.

During the Y98 pregame show, Dale Schilly caught up with CITY Head Coach, Yoann Damet, ahead of the team’s road match out to the west coast to face the the San Jose Earthquakes, their first of 3 games in an 8-day stretch. Coach Damet talked how, despite an overall strong performance against Real Salt Lake, just a momentary lapse of concentration can nearly cost you a result. He also addressed the team working on how to create space in behind when they have teams pinned back, along with changing the game momentum to get back on the front foot when possession is lost. Finally, Coach Damet previewed what fans can expect to see with more play from Alexandru Matan, plus new DP Carlo Holse, who started training with the team this week ahead of San Jose.

Maddie talked about her award experience att the Espys plus receiving the National Girls Soccer Gatorade Player of the Year award for the second time. As she looks to play for UNC after her upcoming high school senior year, Maddie also shared her USWNT dreams, excitement for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup, and hopes for the continued growth of opportunities for girls and women in The Beautiful Game worldwide.

During the Y98 pregame show, Jen Siess caught up with CITY midfielder Tomáš Ostrák, ahead of the team’s second home match in a row, this time hosting Real Salt Lake. Ostrák talked about his magic moment, scoring just 7 minutes after subbing in to give CITY the win over Colorado at home. He also talked about the difficulty of returning to form with injuries plaguing him for two seasons, along with finding his place in a different coaching system each time. Tomas called out the World Cup break helped him adapt to Damet’s system and his goals to stay healthy and consistent as he returns to full game minutes.

During the Y98 pregame show, Dale Schilly caught up with CITY Head Coach, Yoann Damet, ahead of the team’s second home match in a row, this time hosting Real Salt Lake. During the Y98 halftime show, Jen Siess visited with Magdalen Sparrow, Founder and Executive Director of Passback, a local St. Louis non-profit organization which has redistributed sports equipment valued at more than $500,000 to over 7,000 children, primarily in the St. Louis area. Magdalen shared Passback’s origin story of her shagging balls behind goals for her dad during youth coaching days to what it’s become in just over 3 years, recirculating 12 tons of plastic and metal sporting goods, creating a circular economy for sports gear so that every kid can play. During the Y98 pregame show, Jen Siess caught up with CITY homegrown player and midfielder, MyKhi Joyner, ahead of the team’s home match against the Colorado Rapids. Joyner talked about earning his first start of the MLS season in the team’s recent away win over the LA Galaxy. He shared how he continues to be challenged by Coach Damet and staff to grow in certain areas of the game like defense and being inverted, while continuing to find ways to express himself in the attacking phase of the game. Joyner continues to embrace the challenging of stepping up to play against more experienced players while setting the goal of earning trust as a reliable player to gain more starts on the game pitch.

During the Y98 pregame show, Jen Siess caught up with CITY Head Coach, Yoann Damet, ahead of the team’s home match against the Colorado Rapids. Coach Damet talked about the the team continuing to grow in managing moments in the game with their recent 3-1 on the road against the LA Galaxy. Though pleased with their two wins so far back from the World Cup break, he is still pushing them to grow in consistency, sustained possession, creating more chances, and being ruthless in closing games to win. Though perhaps a truly “perfect game” might not be achievable, Damet believes that the focus on performance will continue to drive successful results.

And, he shared how the club is looking to show regular stadium visitors a good time, while hoping to capitalize on World Cup fever with potential new fans with themed nights that will include superheroes, Tina Turner, and Harry Potter - plus potential off-pitch rivalry ideas with other clubs.

During the Y98 halftime show, Jen Siess visited in-booth with Ruth Harker, St. Louis Soccer Hall of Famer and original member of the inaugural US Women’s National Team in 1985. The 85-er talked about her experience in The Beautiful Game alongside 16 other teammates who did it all with very few resources. Ruth also talked about her recent visit to Seattle to honor the USWNT GOAT., her teammate and friend, Michelle Akers, who accomplished so much and continues to advocate for girls and women in the game. Finally, Jen and Ruth discussed the newest change in the game with FIFA mandating that all women’s teams have at least one woman coach on the bench in the efforts to accelerate parity in the game.
