The Ricky & Robb Podcast - Ep. 17 (MXGP - MXDN - SMX Preview)
Jeffrey Herlings is officially the 2026 MXGP World Champion, but the story behind his sixth world title may be even more impressive than the championship itself. After leaving KTM, moving to Honda HRC, adapting to a completely new CRF450RW and overcoming years of injuries, Herlings has reminded everyone what makes him one of the greatest motocross racers of all time. Coach Robb and R.J. break down his incredible comeback, the physical demands of riding at the MXGP level, and how even a small loss of mobility from an ankle or wrist injury can completely change a rider’s balance, positioning and performance. The conversation also raises an intriguing question for Jett and Hunter Lawrence: what does Herlings’ success tell us about Honda’s newest 450 platform and what could it mean heading into the 2027 Supercross season?Next, the conversation turns to Team USA and the 2026 Motocross of Nations in Ernée, France. With Cooper Webb, Levi Kitchen and Chance Hymas representing the United States, is this overlooked American lineup actually capable of winning the MXoN? R.J. explains why Team USA may be leaving valuable experience on the sidelines and lays out how former champions could serve as rider liaisons, studying individual sections of the track and feeding critical information back to the racers. From Kitchen’s ability to charge through the field to Hymas’ starting ability and Webb’s reputation as a big-game racer, this may not be the most obvious Team USA lineup, but it could be one of the most dangerous. At the Motocross of Nations, outright speed matters, but resilience, consistency, strategy and simply making fewer mistakes can ultimately decide which country stands on top of the podium. Finally, attention shifts back to the United States as the 2026 SuperMotocross World Championship Playoffs begin. With Jett Lawrence sidelined, Hunter Lawrence carrying momentum but dealing with a wrist issue, and Ken Roczen returning fresh, the SMX championship suddenly looks wide open. There is also another storyline hanging over every gate drop: Eli Tomac’s retirement and the final races of one of the greatest careers in American motocross and Supercross history. Coach Robb and R.J. discuss the pressure of knowing the end is coming, what retirement feels like after spending an entire life preparing to race, and why Tomac deserves the opportunity to enjoy these final moments. With huge money on the line and some of the fastest Supercross and motocross riders in the world coming together, the next three rounds of SMX could deliver plenty of surprises. Ricky & Robb Ep.16 (Lawrence Brothers & Championships)
This episode of the Ricky & Robb Podcast Show goes well beyond who won and lost. Ricky Johnson and Coach Robb dig into Hunter Lawrence’s championship, the relationship between Hunter and Jett Lawrence, and why Hunter may represent something professional motocross desperately needs more of. From his fitness and race craft to the gratitude he showed after winning the title, the conversation explores what it really means to be the complete package. Winning gets you on the podium, but what you do once the helmet comes off can determine your legacy, your value to sponsors, and the influence you have on the next generation of motocross racers. That opens the door to a much bigger conversation about motocross sponsorship, athlete branding, podium interviews and professionalism. Ricky reflects on the personalities that helped build the sport, including Bob Hannah, David Bailey, Brock Glover, Jeremy McGrath and others, and why fans remember far more than their race results. The guys examine Cole Davies and his incredible rise through the 250 class, while asking an important question: can an elite rider become one of the sport's highest-paid athletes on speed alone? Today's stars aren't simply motorcycle racers. They are representatives of Honda, Yamaha, KTM, gear companies and major sponsors, and authenticity may be more valuable than rattling off a rehearsed list of brand names. The racing conversation heats up with KTM, Jorge Prado, the Lawrence brothers and the final rounds of the Pro Motocross Championship. Prado's breakthrough outdoor National win becomes a major talking point, especially considering that the four-time World Champion appears hungry for something he still hasn't accomplished, winning in Monster Energy Supercross. Ricky and Robb also push back against the idea that Jett simply handed races to Hunter, while recognizing how unusual it is to watch two brothers compete at the highest level of American motocross and still genuinely celebrate one another's success. It is a fascinating mix of championship pressure, family, team dynamics and the relentless pursuit of the next milestone. Finally, the discussion turns to Haiden Deegan and the future of the 450 class. It's easy to forget how quickly Deegan has progressed. After racing 250 Supercross, he has only a few months of 450 outdoor competition under his belt and is already battling near the front against some of the fastest motocross riders in the world. That raises an even bigger strategic question: should his camp prioritize MXoN and outdoor motocross, or sacrifice those opportunities to prepare for the crown jewel of American racing, a 450 Supercross Championship? With Deegan developing rapidly, Prado gaining momentum, the Lawrence brothers already established and a new generation coming fast, the next chapter of AMA Supercross and Pro Motocross could be one of the most competitive we've seen in years.Timestamps and Topics of Conversation: 00:00 Introduction3:53 Hunter Lawrence: More Than a Motocross Champion13:31 The Missing Piece in Modern Motocross: Personality & Professionalism24:37 Cole Davies: Does He Have the Complete Package?36:42 Jorge Prado & KTM: The Breakthrough Everyone Almost Overlooked42:23 Haiden Deegan: Is a 450 Supercross Championship the Real Priority?58:22 Cecil "Pup" Whatley TributeThank you for subscribing to and watching the Coach Robb Beams YouTube channel. Navigating Amateur Motocross - Ep. 29 (Post Loretta's - Recovery)
What if the biggest thing holding back your motocross performance isn't your bike, training program, or genetics, but where you're choosing to invest your time, energy, and money? In this episode, Coach Robb and HP Race Development's Derek Harris challenge the obsession with marginal gains, from expensive titanium hardware and performance supplements to broccoli shots, cold plunges, saunas, and recovery trends. The question is simple: why chase a 1% improvement when better nutrition, sleep, hydration, recovery, bike maintenance, and structured training could unlock something much bigger? The conversation dives into motocross offseason training and recovery, especially after the long road to Loretta Lynn's Amateur National Championship. While many riders immediately return to hard training and racing, Coach Robb explains why the offseason is actually the fourth phase of a complete motocross training program. Sometimes getting faster means purposely backing off, shedding accumulated fatigue, lowering training intensity, and allowing the body and mind to recover before the next preseason build. The discipline required to rest may be every bit as important as the discipline required to train.Coach Robb and Derek also break down the difference between motivation and discipline, and why championship-level performance is built through what happens when nobody is watching. Training consistently, warming up and cooling down properly, protecting sleep, eating enough calories, maintaining hydration, working on the motorcycle, and sticking to a schedule aren't glamorous. They are repeatable. The discussion explores how habits become part of an athlete's identity and why riders who consistently execute the fundamentals put themselves in a better position to perform when it matters most. The episode then turns to Garmin Body Battery, stress, recovery, heat training, hydration, and race-day performance. Instead of guessing whether an athlete is recovered, Coach Robb explains how data can identify accumulated stress and determine whether the body is ready for another hard workout. They discuss training in extreme heat, race-specific preparation, sweat loss, calorie intake, morning and evening body weight, sleep quality, and why simply pushing harder can eventually work against performance. Cold plunges and saunas may have a place, but they can't compensate for an athlete who is exhausted, under-fueled, dehydrated, or chronically under-recovered.Ultimately, this episode asks motocross riders and parents to rethink what training smarter, not harder really means. More workouts, races, supplements, and expensive equipment don't automatically create faster riders. Long-term motocross fitness comes from periodization, strength training, cardiovascular endurance, proper recovery, nutrition, hydration, sleep, bike maintenance, and knowing when to push and when to back off. The goal isn't to find another shortcut to become 1% better. It's to identify the fundamentals you're overlooking that could make you 10% better and help build a stronger, faster, more durable motocross athlete for the long haul. The Ricky & Robb Podcast Show - Ep. 15 Budds Creek
Budds Creek looked like a lost cause. We watched second practice, saw the rain coming down, and figured the whole thing was going to be a mud race decided by whoever could keep a bike from grenading. Then a text from BMX legend Greg Hill sent us back to the screen, and the track had completely transformed. Ricky Johnson breaks down exactly what goes into prepping a Pro Motocross track when you are staring at a 50/50 chance of a deluge all week, the ripping, the watering, the packing, the stuff nobody gives the crew credit for because they assume the place just got lucky sitting in a valley. From there we get into Chance Hymas, because that 250 class win was not handed to him. RJ thinks it permanently changes the kid's career, and he explains why the first real win rewires a rider in a way no amount of coaching can. Then there is Levi Kitchen and the goggles. He ripped them off, rode blind through the roost, and salvaged 14th. Was it worth it? RJ has a scar on his eyeball from a no goggle moment at 13 years old that he can still describe second by second, and he still says he would have done the same thing. We go deep on mud racecraft nobody teaches anymore, the lens trick he used to save tear offs, the towel tucked in the jersey, and why modern helmets have made this whole problem worse. We also get into Haiden Deegan going full send in the slop when he had nothing to gain, why his mechanic leaving for Formula 1 is a bigger deal than people realize, and the one adjustment RJ believes turns Deegan into the guy nobody can touch. His comparison list for Deegan is Danny Magoo Chandler, James Stewart and Ricky Carmichael, and he thinks Deegan can end up better than all three. And then the part that gives us both goosebumps. Hunter Lawrence and Jett Lawrence go into the final round separated by one single point, two brothers, one championship, and somebody is going to be heartbroken and happy in the same moment. Cole Davies takes a 14 point cushion over Kitchen into the 250 title fight, and RJ knows exactly how fragile that feels because he blew a 20 point lead in 1982 and lost a championship by two points on a production bike. He tells that story here, including what it actually cost him. We also get into why the asterisk crowd needs to let it go, whether Deegan gets real credit if he wins the last one, and why the check cashes the same no matter how the race played out. If you follow the 450 class or the 250 class at all, this is the setup for the biggest weekend of the season. The Vet Show - Ep. 24: The Art of Recovery
Are Vet Motocross riders really out of shape, or are they simply under-recovered? In Episode #24 of The Vet Show, Coach Robb and Hoppo challenge one of the biggest misconceptions in motocross training. For riders over 35 who are balancing work, family, stress, training, and weekend racing, adding more workouts may actually be the last thing they need. The conversation breaks down why motocross recovery, sleep, nutrition, hydration, heart rate training, and proper fueling can have a much bigger impact on speed and endurance than simply training harder. The discussion then digs into what it actually takes to become faster on a dirt bike without getting tired. Coach Robb and Hoppo explain the relationship between strength, flexibility, aerobic conditioning, Critical Speed, Threshold of Fatigue, heart rate zones, Garmin data, and motocross-specific fitness. If your lap times begin falling apart after six minutes, why are you training with 30-second intervals? If you are going wide open at the beginning of every moto and hanging on at the end, is fitness really the problem, or is your race strategy setting you up to fail? Understanding how fast you can go and how long you can maintain that speed completely changes the way you should approach motocross training. Most importantly, recovery isn't something that begins when you climb off the motorcycle. Recovery is happening hour by hour, day by day, and week by week. Your food intake, hydration, sleep quality, training intensity, stress levels, and race-day strategy are constantly either helping you recover or quietly pushing you deeper into residual fatigue. The goal isn't to simply survive the final laps of a moto. It's to arrive at the track properly fed, hydrated, rested, fit, and prepared, then execute a pace that allows you to finish stronger than you started. Before asking what you should do today, there may be a much more important question: Did your body actually absorb what you did yesterday? The Ricky & Robb Podcast Show - Episode #14: Unadilla Recap & MXDN Selections
The latest round of Pro Motocross at Unadilla gave us plenty to break down, starting with the 450 class and the continued dominance of Jett Lawrence and Hunter Lawrence. We discuss Jett Lawrence racing through injury, Hunter’s costly mistake, Jorge Prado’s continued improvement, and Haiden Deegan’s aggressive riding style as he adapts to the 450. Ricky Johnson also dives into motorcycle setup, traction, throttle control, starts, paddle tires, and why more horsepower does not always translate into faster lap times. At the highest level of motocross racing, efficiency, momentum, technique, and usable power can be far more valuable than raw horsepower. The 250 Pro Motocross class continues to be unpredictable, with Levi Kitchen, Chance Hymas, Cole Davies, and Carson Mumford producing flashes of incredible speed without anyone completely taking control of the championship picture. We discuss Kitchen’s resilience, the importance of consistency, race starts, mental preparation, podium professionalism, and why riders need to remember that they are representing themselves, their teams, factories, and sponsors every time a microphone is put in front of them. We also question the current motocross scoring system and how wildly different moto finishes can produce surprising overall results. Finally, we turn our attention to **Team USA and the 2026 Motocross of Nations**, including the difficult question of who should represent the United States at MXoN. Is Levi Kitchen the best choice for the 250? Does Haiden Deegan race MXoN or stay home and prepare for the 2027 Supercross season? What about Justin Cooper, Eli Tomac, Cooper Webb, RJ Hampshire, Garrett Marchbanks, and the other potential American riders? Ricky provides the perspective of a former Team USA rider as we discuss factory support, changing teams, Supercross preparation, rider economics, national pride, and whether winning an AMA Supercross Championship has become more important to today's professional motocross racers than representing Team USA at the Motocross of Nations.00:00 Unadilla: Track Conditions, Paddle Tires & Dangerous Starts11:00 Jett, Hunter, Prado & Deegan – Breaking Down the 450 Class17:21 Is More Horsepower Actually Making Deegan Faster?34:09 The Wild 250 Class – Kitchen, Hymas, Davies & Mumford45:42 Team USA MXoN – Who Goes and Does Deegan Say Yes?Coach Robb's Resources (articles, videos, etc.) about health, wellness and performance: ► https://www.coachrobb.com/ ► Resources such as the 2-Week Food Challenge, Sweat Rate Calculator, and Body Measurement Spreadsheet, click here: https://coachrobb.activehosted.com/f/25 Coach Robb's Exclusive Exercise and Recovery Products (designed by Coach Robb):► Energy Fuel (Intensity and Duration Specific Sports Drink): https://www.coachrobbstore.com/energy-fuel-products/Coach Robb's Suggested Vitamins & Minerals: ► Nutritional Frontiers Supplements (Developed and Recommended Supplements of Coach Robb) https://www.coachrobbstore.com/nutritional-bundles/Coach Robb's Snacks, Smoothies and Meal Resources:Coach Robb's Healthy Meals, Smoothies and Snack Recipe Books available in print and digital formats on Coach Robb Store and Amazon.► Healthy Meals ► Smoothie Recipes ► Snack Recipes Coach Robb's Educational Bundles:► Nutrition for Weight Loss Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/weight-loss-educational-bundle/► Nutrition for Performance Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/fueling-performance-educational-bundle/

Ricky and Robb Ep. 13 - Mid Season Review | Breathing for MX & SX
Motocross legend Rick Johnson joins Coach Robb for a wide ranging conversation covering SuperMotocross, MXGP, AMA Motocross, electric motorcycles, Stark VARG, and the evolution of rider performance. Rick shares why electric motorcycles and electric trucks have changed his perspective on power delivery, rider development, military training, and off road riding. The discussion compares electric power curves to modern four stroke motocross bikes while highlighting how technology, bike setup, and rider feedback continue to shape the future of motocross. The conversation then shifts to the current 450 Motocross Championship, breaking down Haiden Deegan, Jet Lawrence, and Hunter Lawrence. Rick explains why Deegan should ignore championship points and instead focus on becoming one percent better every race by studying the Lawrence brothers' race craft, corner speed, smoothness, bike setup, and decision making. They discuss the value of test riders like Johnny O'Mara and Trey Canard, the importance of complete team development, mental toughness, recovery, and how championships are often won through consistency rather than raw aggression. The final section dives deep into motocross training, sports science, breathing techniques, mental performance, and rider longevity. Rick explains how lessons learned from Ironman champions, cycling legend John Howard, and breathing coach Ian J. Johnson transformed his racing career. He shares practical breathing strategies, nose breathing, complete exhalation, race day focus, and recovery techniques that help reduce arm pump, improve endurance, and maximize motocross performance. The discussion also challenges traditional motocross training methods, emphasizing intelligent periodization, proper recovery, nutrition, hydration, and mental resilience as the keys to winning at every level of the sport.Coach Robb's Resources (articles, videos, etc.) about health, wellness and performance: ► https://www.coachrobb.com/ ► Resources such as the 2-Week Food Challenge, Sweat Rate Calculator, and Body Measurement Spreadsheet, click here: https://coachrobb.activehosted.com/f/25 Coach Robb's Exclusive Exercise and Recovery Products (designed by Coach Robb):► Energy Fuel (Intensity and Duration Specific Sports Drink): https://www.coachrobbstore.com/energy-fuel-products/Coach Robb's Suggested Vitamins & Minerals: ► Nutritional Frontiers Supplements (Developed and Recommended Supplements of Coach Robb) https://www.coachrobbstore.com/nutritional-bundles/Coach Robb's Snacks, Smoothies and Meal Resources:Coach Robb's Healthy Meals, Smoothies and Snack Recipe Books available in print and digital formats on Coach Robb Store and Amazon.► Healthy Meals ► Smoothie Recipes ► Snack Recipes Coach Robb's Educational Bundles:► Nutrition for Weight Loss Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/weight-loss-educational-bundle/► Nutrition for Performance Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/fueling-performance-educational-bundle/

The Vet Show - Episode #23
The discussion focuses on how motocross fitness, motocross training, and vet motocross performance require a completely different approach than simply riding more laps. Coach Robb and Andrew Hopson explain why riders over 40 face unique challenges including accumulated injuries, reduced mobility, slower recovery, higher core temperatures, hydration demands, and the inability to consume calories while racing. Rather than accepting these limitations, they emphasize that riders can continue improving through intelligent training, proper nutrition, recovery, functional riding gear, and structured periodization, allowing riders to become both faster and more resilient as they age.The conversation then shifts into the science behind increasing motocross speed, motocross endurance, and race performance. The hosts explain why raw intensity is not the answer, highlighting the importance of building a strong aerobic engine, developing functional strength, improving flexibility, and increasing lactate tolerance. They introduce the concepts of Critical Speed and Threshold of Fatigue, showing riders how to establish a repeatable performance benchmark that can be measured both on the motorcycle and during off bike training. The discussion reinforces that the fastest racers are not necessarily those working the hardest, but those who can maintain smooth, efficient riding while preserving energy throughout an entire moto. The final portion of the discussion examines how physiology changes through each decade of life, from the teenage years through riders in their 60s and beyond. The hosts explain how injuries, stress, poor recovery, flexibility restrictions, and lifestyle choices accumulate over time, yet emphasize that these challenges can be reversed with proper coaching and structured training. By understanding personal strengths and weaknesses through objective testing, riders can improve sprint speed, late race endurance, body composition, recovery, and overall race consistency while continuing to enjoy motocross at a high level for decades.Coach Robb's Resources (articles, videos, etc.) about health, wellness and performance: ► https://www.coachrobb.com/ ► Resources such as the 2-Week Food Challenge, Sweat Rate Calculator, and Body Measurement Spreadsheet, click here: https://coachrobb.activehosted.com/f/25 Coach Robb's Exclusive Exercise and Recovery Products (designed by Coach Robb):► Energy Fuel (Intensity and Duration Specific Sports Drink): https://www.coachrobbstore.com/energy-fuel-products/Coach Robb's Suggested Vitamins & Minerals: ► Nutritional Frontiers Supplements (Developed and Recommended Supplements of Coach Robb) https://www.coachrobbstore.com/nutritional-bundles/Coach Robb's Snacks, Smoothies and Meal Resources:Coach Robb's Healthy Meals, Smoothies and Snack Recipe Books available in print and digital formats on Coach Robb Store and Amazon.► Healthy Meals ► Smoothie Recipes ► Snack Recipes Coach Robb's Educational Bundles:► Nutrition for Weight Loss Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/weight-loss-educational-bundle/► Nutrition for Performance Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/fueling-performance-educational-bundle/

Navigating Amateur MX - Ep. 28
Success in motocross is about much more than horsepower. This episode explains why the biggest gains in motocross performance come from balancing motorcycle preparation with athlete preparation. While many riders focus on engine modifications, suspension settings, and aftermarket parts, championship results are often determined by rider fitness, consistency, and preparation. The discussion compares maintaining a race motorcycle to maintaining the human body, showing that both require proper servicing, testing, recovery, and long term planning to produce reliable performance throughout the racing season.A major focus of the conversation is preparing for Loretta Lynn's Amateur National Motocross Championship by training specifically for race demands instead of simply riding more hours. Topics include motocross endurance, heat acclimation, humidity, nutrition timing, recovery between motos, sleep quality, hydration, and avoiding heat exhaustion. Riders are encouraged to train according to race duration, race schedule, and environmental conditions while learning to maintain consistent lap times instead of relying on maximum effort. The hosts explain why excessive riding before major events often creates fatigue rather than improving race performance. The episode concludes with practical strategies that every motocross family can implement immediately, including fitness testing away from the motorcycle, pump track conditioning, heart rate training, hydration monitoring, recovery evaluation, and structured periodization throughout the season. Parents are reminded that the fastest motorcycle cannot overcome poor conditioning, inadequate recovery, or improper preparation. Elite motocross coaching requires developing the rider and the machine together so athletes arrive at the gate healthy, recovered, confident, and capable of performing at their highest level when it matters most. Ricky and Robb Podcast - Ep.12
Topic 1: Coenen Brothers: Smart or Dumb Racing Stateside? The conversation opens with a deep dive into the Coenen brothers' decision to race the AMA Pro Motocross Championship at Southwick. Rather than second-guessing the decision because both riders were injured, Robb and Ricky argue that it was absolutely the right move. They discuss the humility the brothers showed despite immediately proving they had the speed to run with Hunter and Jett Lawrence, the technical differences in how European riders attack sand tracks, and how their performances generated tremendous excitement among American fans. Ricky also explains why Austrian KTM likely supported the riders' desire to race in America rather than forcing the decision themselves.Topic 2: What is Triumph Doing? The second topic centers around the recent organizational changes within Triumph Racing, including the departures of Scuba Steve and test rider Styles Robertson, while Ivan Tedesco appears to be assuming a larger leadership role. Robb questions why a relatively new manufacturer would make significant personnel changes while still trying to establish itself in professional motocross. Ricky cautions against speculation, explaining that outsiders rarely know the internal dynamics of a race team and that personnel changes can result from countless factors beyond race results.Topic 3: Ducati, Re-Signings & How Rider Contracts WorkThe final segment shifts toward rider contracts, manufacturer movement, and the ongoing "musical chairs" surrounding the 2027 rider market. Robb asks how contract clauses work when guest riders like the Coenen brothers temporarily enter AMA competition and potentially affect championship standings. Ricky explains that contracts are generally straightforward: riders are paid based on where they finish against whoever lines up on race day, regardless of whether those competitors are full-time AMA riders or international guest entries.Visiting Mike GoodwinRicky shares a personal story about visiting Supercross pioneer Mike Goodwin in prison after years of exchanging letters and phone calls. While acknowledging the controversy surrounding Goodwin's conviction, Ricky makes it clear that his visit was not about judging guilt or innocence. Instead, it was an opportunity to thank the man whose vision helped launch modern Supercross and forever changed the sport. Reflecting on their four-hour conversation, Ricky explains that regardless of history, every rider, team, and fan has benefited from the foundation Goodwin created, making the experience both meaningful and emotionally complex. The Ricky & Robb Podcast Show - Ep. 11
In episode #11, Ricky Johnson and Coach Robb break down one of the biggest storylines in the 2026 Pro Motocross season, the growing rivalry between Hunter and Jet Lawrence. The discussion examines Hunter Lawrence's emotional victory at RedBud, Jet Lawrence's visible frustration after the race, and why both brothers are elevating each other's performance. Ricky also explains how Jet's lingering ankle injury is affecting his body position and braking technique while emphasizing that Hunter's recent success should not be discounted because of his brother's injury. The conversation highlights how elite motocross is often decided by small gains in corner speed, race craft, consistency, and fitness rather than outright aggression. The conversation then shifts to the exciting future of the 250 class with Cole Davies, Drew Adams, JuJu Beaumer, and RJ Hampshire taking center stage. Ricky shares why Davies continues to impress with exceptional race intelligence, patience, and line selection despite being one of the youngest riders in professional motocross. The hosts also discuss Beaumer's difficult season, Ricky's memorable experiences racing with the number 13, and why RJ Hampshire's consistency could make him an important piece of Ducati's future. Throughout the discussion, they explain why championships are built through smooth riding, smart decisions, physical conditioning, and eliminating small mistakes over the course of a moto. The final segment focuses on Team USA's potential lineup for the Motocross of Nations and the difficult decisions surrounding rider selection, injuries, and manufacturer commitments. Ricky Johnson and Coach Robb debate whether Haiden Deegan, RJ Hampshire, Drew Adams, and other top American riders should represent Team USA while stressing that competing for your country should always be embraced. They also discuss Deegan's continued progression on the 450, how studying the Lawrence brothers can accelerate development, and why adapting technique instead of simply riding harder is often what separates champions from contenders. The episode wraps up with reflections on perseverance, professionalism, and the relentless pursuit of improvement that defines the world's best motocross racers. The Ricky & Robb Podcast Show - Ep. 10
Ricky and Robb Podcast - Episode 10Topic 1: Where Does Sexton Go Next?Chase Sexton's injury has reignited one of the biggest conversations in motocross, Supercross, and the 2026 silly season. Rather than focusing on changing manufacturers, Ricky Johnson believes Kawasaki remains the best place for Sexton to succeed. The discussion centers on the importance of simplifying his program, surrounding himself with the right people, reducing outside pressure, and allowing one of the fastest riders in the sport to rebuild confidence. Ricky explains that Sexton has already shown race-winning speed and believes the solution is not a different motorcycle but a more focused environment that allows him to consistently perform at his highest level.Topic 2: Plessinger to Triumph. Next Step? With Aaron Plessinger expected to join Triumph, the conversation shifts to what it takes to launch a successful partnership between an experienced rider and a growing factory program. Ricky discusses how Triumph should focus on creating an environment where Plessinger can enjoy riding again, reduce unnecessary pressure, and help develop the motorcycle while remaining competitive. The discussion highlights Triumph Racing, 450 motocross, MXGP, bike development, rider confidence, and why Plessinger's personality and experience could make him the perfect rider to help establish Triumph as a championship contender.Topic 3: MXDN Team USA SelectionWith the Motocross of Nations approaching, Ricky and Coach Robb debate who should represent Team USA based on the first four rounds of the Pro Motocross Championship. The conversation evaluates riders including Haiden Deegan, Garrett Marchbanks, Aaron Plessinger, Cooper Webb, Ryder DiFrancesco, Jo Shimoda's competition, and several top 250 contenders while emphasizing that rider attitude, consistency, fitness, and willingness to sacrifice for the team are just as important as outright speed. Ricky also explains why former champions and experienced veterans should play a much larger role in preparing Team USA for the unique demands of MXDN competition. The Ricky & Robb Podcast Show - Ep. 09
Ricky & Robb Podcast Show - Ep.09Deegan’s Progress, the Lawrence Brothers, and the Value of PressureThe conversation opens with a detailed look at Hayden Deegan’s continued progress in the 450 class. His improving lap times, physical development, and ability to remain competitive deeper into each moto suggest that he is learning how to close the gap on the sport’s fastest riders. The discussion emphasizes that raw aggression and more throttle alone will not be enough to beat riders like Jett and Hunter Lawrence. Deegan’s next level will come from combining his natural intensity with smoother corner speed, better roll speed, smarter line choices, and the ability to apply pressure without over-riding the motorcycle. The Lawrence brothers remain the benchmark, but Deegan appears to be moving steadily toward the level where he can challenge them more consistently.Cole Davies, Outdoor Progress, and Finding Race RhythmCole Davies is discussed as a rider with exceptional long-term potential, especially as the outdoor season develops. While the early rounds may not have reflected his full ability, the conversation suggests that he is beginning to regain the rhythm, confidence, and race sharpness needed to compete at the front. Setup remains important, but the larger point is that riders must eventually learn to race with what they have instead of waiting for a perfect motorcycle. Davies is praised for his willingness to learn, his mental toughness, and his ability to work through adversity. As he gains more experience with changing tracks, deeper ruts, rougher conditions, and race-day pressure, he has the potential to become one of the standout riders in the class.Jett Lawrence, Haiden Deegan, Rivalries, and Personality in MotocrossThe conversation also highlights the growing tension and entertainment value between Jett Lawrence and Haiden Deegan. Small exchanges, gestures, comments, and on-track moments are viewed as healthy for the sport because they create emotion, personality, and storylines that fans can follow. Rather than expecting riders to act like robots, the discussion encourages athletes to compete hard, celebrate victories, show emotion, and allow rivalries to develop naturally. The best rivalries often create mutual respect over time, especially when both riders understand that the other is helping push them toward a higher level of performance. The relationship between competitors can be intense in the moment, but those battles often become the foundation for lifelong respect.Time Stamps & Subjects: 00:00 Introduction00:15: Deegan Progress Report 12:25: Cole Davies 21:35: Jett vs. Deegan 36:02: 1 Thing to Change Coach Robb's Resources (articles, videos, etc.) about health, wellness and performance: ► https://www.coachrobb.com/ ► Resources such as the 2-Week Food Challenge, Sweat Rate Calculator, and Body Measurement Spreadsheet, click here: https://coachrobb.activehosted.com/f/25 Coach Robb's Exclusive Exercise and Recovery Products (designed by Coach Robb):► Energy Fuel (Intensity and Duration Specific Sports Drink): https://www.coachrobbstore.com/energy-fuel-products/Coach Robb's Suggested Vitamins & Minerals: ► Nutritional Frontiers Supplements (Developed and Recommended Supplements of Coach Robb) https://www.coachrobbstore.com/nutritional-bundles/Coach Robb's Snacks, Smoothies and Meal Resources:Coach Robb's Healthy Meals, Smoothies and Snack Recipe Books available in print and digital formats on Coach Robb Store and Amazon.► Healthy Meals ► Smoothie Recipes ► Snack Recipes Coach Robb's Educational Bundles:► Nutrition for Weight Loss Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/weight-loss-educational-bundle/► Nutrition for Performance Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/fueling-performance-educational-bundle/

The Vet Show - Episode #22
In this episode of The Vet Show, Coach Robb and Andrew Hopson break down motocross periodization and why veteran riders need to stop treating every week, workout, and local race like a championship event. The conversation explains that real motocross fitness is built through a long-term training plan that includes an offseason, recovery, aerobic conditioning, strength training, and carefully timed race preparation. Taking four to six weeks away from structured training does not mean becoming inactive. It means reducing physical and mental fatigue, enjoying the motorcycle again, and allowing the body to rebuild so riders can make bigger gains later in the season.A major focus is the importance of identifying AAA, AA, and A priority races. Vet riders often carry the stress of work, family, finances, travel, poor sleep, and inconsistent nutrition into a Saturday race, then become frustrated when they cannot perform like a professional athlete. The key is to set realistic expectations, understand residual fatigue, and recognize that a pickup race can still be valuable for seat time, gate drops, fun, and experience without needing to become a must-win event. The discussion reinforces that racing often is fine, but only a limited number of events should receive a true peak-performance approach. The episode also explains why motocross performance requires more than hard workouts, CrossFit-style intensity, or simply riding more laps. Riders need a balanced foundation of strength, aerobic capacity, muscular endurance, lactate tolerance, hydration, nutrition, recovery, and race-specific intensity. Using the motorcycle engine analogy, Coach Robb explains that strength is the piston, aerobic fitness is the carburetor, and the body’s ability to clear metabolic waste is the exhaust system. When riders build this foundation over six months, then layer in speed work and race-specific training, they are better prepared to ride faster, recover better, avoid burnout, reduce injury risk, and peak when it matters most. Navigating Amateur Motocross - Episode 27
This episode of Navigating Amateur Motocross dives deep into the relationship between motocross performance, motorcycle setup, heat management, hydration, race strategy, and amateur racing development. Derek explains how excessive clutch use creates unnecessary heat, reduces performance, and increases the risk of engine failure, especially during hot summer racing conditions. The conversation explores Rekluse clutches, motocross starts, whole shot strategy, ECU technology, motocross engine tuning, race bike setup, and how modern factory teams use electronics and data analysis to create more consistent starts. One of the biggest takeaways is that many riders over-rev their motorcycles and rely on clutch abuse rather than proper throttle control and RPM management. The discussion then shifts to motocross fitness, hydration, heat exhaustion, arm pump, race day nutrition, and endurance training. Coach Robb explains that performance often declines not because riders lack fitness, but because they fail to manage hydration, body temperature, and energy systems correctly. Topics include electrolyte balance, dehydration, anaerobic threshold, heart rate training, oxygen delivery, race day fueling, appetite suppression, and recovery strategies for motocross athletes. The hosts emphasize that maintaining core body temperature and staying within a 1% to 2% hydration window can dramatically improve speed, endurance, decision making, and recovery during summer racing conditions. The final section focuses on Loretta Lynn's preparation, amateur motocross development, mental performance, race execution, accountability, and long-term athlete progression. Both hosts challenge riders and parents to stop searching for magic horsepower and instead focus on measurable improvement through testing, training, consistency, and execution. They discuss the importance of motocross starts, suspension setup, race strategy, confidence, sports psychology, performance analytics, and goal setting. The episode reinforces that championships are won through preparation, process, and repeatable performance habits rather than expensive modifications or excuses. Success comes from improving year after year, managing expectations, and focusing on the controllable factors that truly influence race results.00:00 Introduction 01:00Why Heat & Humidity Destroy Performance01:35 The #1 Mistake That Overheats Dirt Bikes05:10 Rekluse Clutches: Worth It or Not?10:15 The Science of the Perfect Motocross Start18:20 Why Riders Fail on Race Day Starts27:40 Hydration Secrets for Summer Racing43:00 Loretta Lynn's Race Day Strategy59:00 Stop Buying Horsepower: What Really Makes You Faster1:11:20 Why Most Athletes Never Reach Their Potential1:29:00 Winning Without Pressure: The Championship Mindset Coach Robb's Resources (articles, videos, etc.) about health, wellness and performance: ► https://www.coachrobb.com/ ► Resources such as the 2-Week Food Challenge, Sweat Rate Calculator, and Body Measurement Spreadsheet, click here: https://coachrobb.activehosted.com/f/25 Coach Robb's Exclusive Exercise and Recovery Products (designed by Coach Robb):► Energy Fuel (Intensity and Duration Specific Sports Drink): https://www.coachrobbstore.com/energy-fuel-products/Coach Robb's Suggested Vitamins & Minerals: ► Nutritional Frontiers Supplements (Developed and Recommended Supplements of Coach Robb) https://www.coachrobbstore.com/nutritional-bundles/Coach Robb's Snacks, Smoothies and Meal Resources:Coach Robb's Healthy Meals, Smoothies and Snack Recipe Books available in print and digital formats on Coach Robb Store and Amazon.► Healthy Meals ► Smoothie Recipes ► Snack Recipes Coach Robb's Educational Bundles:► Nutrition for Weight Loss Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/weight-loss-educational-bundle/► Nutrition for Performance Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/fueling-performance-educational-bundle/

The Ricky & Robb Podcast Show - Episode #08
Topic 1: 450 OverviewThe 450 class at Hangtown showed that the 2026 Pro Motocross Championship may already be shaping into a four-rider battle between Jett Lawrence, Hunter Lawrence, Haiden Deegan, and Jorge Prado. While the racing itself lacked the bar-to-bar intensity many fans were hoping for, the biggest takeaway was how effortlessly Jett Lawrence controlled the pace. His smooth throttle control, corner speed, racecraft, and ability to build a gap without looking like he was overriding separated him from the field. Hunter remains a major title threat, Deegan continues to prove he belongs at the front of the 450 class, and Prado showed speed before a mechanical issue kept him from finishing where he likely deserved. The question moving forward is whether anyone can match Jett Lawrence’s precision, fitness, and ability to find speed in places others overlook.Topic 2: 250 Overview The 250 class continues to look like the most unpredictable and exciting division in Pro Motocross, with Levi Kitchen, Cole Davies, Jo Shimoda, Seth Hammaker, and several others all capable of winning motos and overalls. Kitchen’s 2-2 overall win was important because it showed maturity, patience, and the ability to manage risk instead of throwing away points chasing a moto win. Davies rebounded strongly after mistakes, Shimoda looked smooth and aggressive, and the depth of the class makes it likely that multiple riders will stand on top of the podium this summer. A major theme was racecraft, starts, and passing ability, especially when fast qualifiers struggle to move forward in the motos. The discussion also raised the question of whether current motocross track prep and timed qualifying are creating one-line racing instead of encouraging riders to search for creative passing lines.Topic 3: Coenen Brothers Coming to America The arrival of the Coenen brothers in American motocross could be one of the biggest storylines of the season, especially with both riders currently carrying red plates in MXGP competition. Their move to race in the United States brings excitement, risk, and a direct comparison between Europe’s best young talent and America’s top riders like Jett Lawrence, Hunter Lawrence, Haiden Deegan, and the rest of the Pro Motocross field. Ricky Johnson emphasized that elite racers want to know where they stand against the best in the world, even if travel, fatigue, bike setup, illness, or injury create added challenges. The Coenen brothers are expected to bring aggression, hunger, and unpredictability to the series, which could disrupt the championship dynamic and give fans the international showdown they have been waiting for.Time Stamps & Subjects: 00:00 Intro03:00: Topic 1: 450 Overview 18:32: Topic 2: 250 Overview 33:29: Topic 3: Coenen Brothers 52:07: Weekly High59:43: Week LowCoach Robb's Resources (articles, videos, etc.) about health, wellness and performance: ► https://www.coachrobb.com/ ► Resources such as the 2-Week Food Challenge, Sweat Rate Calculator, and Body Measurement Spreadsheet, click here: https://coachrobb.activehosted.com/f/25 Coach Robb's Exclusive Exercise and Recovery Products (designed by Coach Robb):► Energy Fuel (Intensity and Duration Specific Sports Drink): https://www.coachrobbstore.com/energy-fuel-products/Coach Robb's Suggested Vitamins & Minerals: ► Nutritional Frontiers Supplements (Developed and Recommended Supplements of Coach Robb) https://www.coachrobbstore.com/nutritional-bundles/Coach Robb's Snacks, Smoothies and Meal Resources:Coach Robb's Healthy Meals, Smoothies and Snack Recipe Books available in print and digital formats on Coach Robb Store and Amazon.► Healthy Meals ► Smoothie Recipes ► Snack Recipes Coach Robb's Educational Bundles:► Nutrition for Weight Loss Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/weight-loss-educational-bundle/► Nutrition for Performance Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/fueling-performance-educational-bundle/

The Ricky & Robb Podcast Show - Episode 7
Episode 7 of the Ricky & Robb Podcast, Coach Robb and Ricky Johnson break down the opening round of the 2026 AMA Pro Motocross Championship at Fox Raceway in Pala, California.Topic 1: Brighter Future: Cole Davies or Kaden Dudney? One of the most intriguing conversations from the opening round of the AMA Pro Motocross Championship centered around which young rider has the brighter long-term future: Cole Davies or Kaden Dudney. Dudney captured the attention of the motocross world with a breakout performance that exceeded most expectations, showcasing impressive speed, composure, and confidence despite being one of the youngest riders in the field. At just 16 years old, Dudney demonstrated the ability to handle the pressure of professional racing while immediately placing himself among the front runners. His performance suggests that he has all the tools necessary to become a future title contender. While Dudney may have surprised more people, the discussion highlighted why Cole Davies remains an incredibly strong long-term prospect. Davies has consistently shown the ability to learn from adversity, bounce back from setbacks, and continue progressing rather than allowing defeats to derail his momentum. His maturity, willingness to accept responsibility for mistakes, and ability to adapt make him a rider many manufacturers would still prioritize when looking toward the future. Rather than focusing solely on one standout weekend, the conversation emphasized that sustained growth, humility, and resilience are often what separate future champions from temporary sensations.Topic #2: More Impressive: Deegan Staying with Jett or Holding Off Sexton? One of the most debated topics from the 450 class was determining what was more impressive: Haiden Deegan staying within striking distance of Jett Lawrence or successfully keeping Chase Sexton behind him. The answer was not as simple as choosing one over the other. Staying close to Jett Lawrence is a significant accomplishment considering Jett's extraordinary talent, race craft, and championship pedigree. Even while recovering from injury, Jett demonstrated remarkable control and composure throughout the race, making it difficult for any rider to maintain his pace.At the same time, Deegan's ability to withstand pressure from Chase Sexton may have been equally impressive. Sexton remains one of the fastest riders in the world and has the ability to capitalize on even the smallest mistake. Rather than riding over his head or making reckless decisions, Deegan remained calm, consistent, and disciplined throughout the motos. The discussion highlighted Deegan's growing athletic maturity, noting that he appeared focused on learning from the sport's elite riders while simultaneously proving that he belongs among them. For a rider making the transition into the premier class, the performance suggested that his future in the 450 division may be arriving faster than many anticipated.Topic #3: Who Do Hunter Lawrence and Cole Davies Thank? The final discussion explored the people behind the success of two of motocross's rising stars. In Hunter Lawrence's case, much of the credit can be directed toward his younger brother, Jett Lawrence. While Hunter narrowly missed the Supercross championship and had limited outdoor preparation time, his ability to arrive at Paula and immediately dominate demonstrated the value of training alongside one of the best riders in the world. Competing daily with Jett has undoubtedly elevated Hunter's speed, confidence, and race craft, while also creating an environment where excellence becomes the standard. The result was a commanding performance that signaled Hunter may be poised for an exceptional outdoor season. For Cole Davies, the conversation pointed toward former MXGP champion Ben Townley as one of the most influential figures in his development. Townley's experience at the highest levels of international motocross provides Davies with a mentor who understands both the technical and mental demands of becoming a champion. Beyond bike setup and riding technique, Townley appears to be helping Davies develop the maturity, accountability, and long-term perspective necessary for sustained success. The discussion emphasized that while talent opens doors, having experienced mentors who can guide young athletes through challenges often becomes the difference between potential and championship-level achievement.Time Stamps00:00 Intro02:14: Brighter Future: Dudney or Davies15:28: More Impressive: Deegan or Sexton25:52: Who to Thank39:39: Weekly High40:16: Weekly Low Coach Robb's Resources (articles, videos, etc.) about health, wellness and performance: ► https://www.coachrobb.com/ ► Resources such as the 2-Week Food Challenge, Sweat Rate Calculator, and Body Measurement Spreadsheet, click here: https://coachrobb.activehosted.com/f/25 Coach Robb's Exclusive Exercise and Recovery Products (designed by Coach Robb):► Energy Fuel (Intensity and Duration Specific Sports Drink): https://www.coachrobbstore.com/energy-fuel-products/Coach Robb's Suggested Vitamins & Minerals: ► Nutritional Frontiers Supplements (Developed and Recommended Supplements of Coach Robb) https://www.coachrobbstore.com/nutritional-bundles/Coach Robb's Snacks, Smoothies and Meal Resources:Coach Robb's Healthy Meals, Smoothies and Snack Recipe Books available in print and digital formats on Coach Robb Store and Amazon.► Healthy Meals ► Smoothie Recipes ► Snack Recipes Coach Robb's Educational Bundles:► Nutrition for Weight Loss Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/weight-loss-educational-bundle/► Nutrition for Performance Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/fueling-performance-educational-bundle/

Throughout the interview, listeners get an inside look at factory sponsorships, BMX Action Magazine covers, ABA Nationals, race preparation, racecraft, and the mindset required to succeed in elite competition. The conversation also dives deeply into athlete mindset, mental toughness, sports performance, and the emotional realities behind professional BMX racing. Billy openly discusses sponsorship instability, factory team politics, broken promises, financial pressure, career uncertainty, and how repeated setbacks forced him to constantly reinvent himself while staying competitive. Coach Robb and Billy break down how confidence, accountability, hard work, resilience, and discipline often outweigh pure talent in motocross and BMX racing. The episode highlights the psychological transition from chasing magazine covers and factory recognition to focusing on long term stability, career development, relationships, and life after sports. Topics including sports psychology, overcoming adversity, athlete identity, motocross training, confidence building, race strategy, and professional athlete transition make this an incredibly powerful conversation for racers, parents, and coaches alike. A major portion of the interview focuses on Billy’s life changing battle with severe heart disease, open heart surgery, and long term atrial fibrillation after years of elite athletic performance masked dangerous underlying symptoms. Billy shares how motocross riding unexpectedly exposed his genetic mitral valve condition, ultimately leading to emergency medical evaluations, a complex mitral valve repair, and years of ongoing cardiovascular management. The conversation explores heart health awareness, athlete recovery, cardiovascular conditioning, endurance training, recovery protocols, and the emotional reality of being told that without surgery he could die within two years. This section delivers powerful insight into recovery, performance adaptation, long term health, and maintaining physical fitness despite major medical limitations. The interview concludes with an authentic reflection on legacy, personal growth, and life after elite competition. Billy explains that his greatest accomplishment was successfully transitioning from professional BMX racing into a long term business career outside the cycling industry with Razor USA while continuing to stay active, healthy, and connected to the BMX community. The discussion touches on training philosophy, sleep, nutrition, weight training, music, creativity, and the importance of continuing to challenge yourself physically and mentally as you age. Billy also shares valuable lessons about hard work versus talent, admitting he wishes he had focused more heavily on physical conditioning earlier in his racing career. For anyone interested in BMX racing, motocross performance, athlete development, sports psychology, heart health, recovery, or the realities of professional sports, this episode delivers a raw, emotional, and inspiring look into perseverance, adaptability, discipline, and living life with no regrets.Coach Robb's Resources (articles, videos, etc.) about health, wellness and performance: ► https://www.coachrobb.com/ ► Resources such as the 2-Week Food Challenge, Sweat Rate Calculator, and Body Measurement Spreadsheet, click here: https://coachrobb.activehosted.com/f/25 Coach Robb's Exclusive Exercise and Recovery Products (designed by Coach Robb):► Energy Fuel (Intensity and Duration Specific Sports Drink): https://www.coachrobbstore.com/energy-fuel-products/Coach Robb's Suggested Vitamins & Minerals: ► Nutritional Frontiers Supplements (Developed and Recommended Supplements of Coach Robb) https://www.coachrobbstore.com/nutritional-bundles/Coach Robb's Snacks, Smoothies and Meal Resources:Coach Robb's Healthy Meals, Smoothies and Snack Recipe Books available in print and digital formats on Coach Robb Store and Amazon.► Healthy Meals ► Smoothie Recipes ► Snack Recipes Coach Robb's Educational Bundles:► Nutrition for Weight Loss Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/weight-loss-educational-bundle/► Nutrition for Performance Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/fueling-performance-educational-bundle/

The Ricky & Robb Podcast Show - Episode #4
Episode #4 of the Ricky & Robb Podcast Show dives deep into three of the biggest conversations in motocross and Supercross right now: Hayden Deegan’s evolving race craft and respect within the paddock, Chase Sexton’s future with Kawasaki and whether he will race outdoors, and the debate surrounding the most improved riders heading into the 2026 season. The conversation blends championship mentality, mental toughness, sponsorship politics, race strategy, rider legacy, and the changing culture inside professional motocross. The first major discussion centers around Hayden Deegan, Cole Davies, Ken Roczen, and the deeper meaning of respect in professional racing. Ricky Johnson and Coach Robb explore whether Deegan “learned a lesson” after being challenged aggressively by Cole Davies, who finally caught and passed him after multiple races of dominance. The conversation expands into how veteran riders like Ken Roczen have earned enormous respect from competitors through years of resilience, injuries, professionalism, and race craft. The podcast highlights how Roczen’s comeback championship run, despite devastating injuries and adversity, has created a level of admiration across the entire paddock. The hosts compare this to Deegan’s current trajectory and discuss how young stars evolve from aggressive talent into respected veterans. Navigating Amateur MX - Episode #26
What actually separates the riders who win from the ones who keep blaming their bike? In this episode of the Coach Robb Podcast Network, Coach Robb sits down with Derek Harris, of HP Development, to pull back the curtain on what really drives motocross performance, and a lot of it has nothing to do with horsepower.Derek brings years of insider perspective on how factory race teams and OEM manufacturers actually develop a motorcycle. Think multi-year R&D cycles, obsessive attention to RPM, inertia, vibration, engineering tolerances, and the kind of durability testing most amateur riders never see. The takeaway might surprise you: chasing more power is rarely the answer. Understanding why your bike behaves the way it does usually is.From there, the conversation gets honest about a pattern Coach Robb sees constantly in the amateur ranks. Parents and riders pour money into race bike modifications while quietly ignoring the things that actually move the needle, fitness, consistency, race craft, and mental toughness. Derek and Robb dig into why that trade-off almost always backfires. The mental side of the sport gets serious airtime too. Coach Robb explains how frustration with suspension or engine setup can quietly sabotage training, confidence, and race day execution. Pulling examples from Chase Sexton, Jett Lawrence, Cooper Webb, Adam Cianciarulo, and Shane McElrath, the discussion shows what elite riders actually do differently. They adapt. They train harder when something feels off. They execute under pressure instead of looking for something to blame. Aerobic conditioning, race strategy, and mental resilience tend to matter far more than the hunt for a perfect setup.Accountability is the thread that ties the whole episode together. Robb and Derek push back hard on the growing habit of blaming motorcycles, suspension, engines, and sponsors for poor results. Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, KTM, and Suzuki put enormous engineering and data analysis behind every production bike. The riders who trust the process, stay disciplined, and learn to ride what they have usually beat the ones with better equipment and worse preparation. If you want a real look at motocross training, bike performance, sports psychology, and what it actually takes to develop a complete rider physically and mentally, this episode delivers. The Ricky and Robb Podcast Show - Episode 3
Topic 1: Chase Sexton and Rider ProfessionalismThe opening discussion focuses on Chase Sexton and rider professionalism within factory teams, specifically addressing the impact of publicly criticizing bike performance and bringing in outside support. The conversation highlights how actions like this can strain relationships with manufacturers and undermine team trust, regardless of talent level. While Sexton is recognized as one of the fastest riders in the sport, the hosts emphasize that mental consistency, confidence, and accountability are critical to sustained success, noting that performance swings often stem more from mindset than machinery.Topic 2: Eli Tomac and Jorge Prado vs. Ken RoczenThe second segment breaks down Eli Tomac and Jorge Prado battling against Ken Roczen, analyzing how starts, positioning, and race flow dictated the outcome. The discussion centers on whether Tomac could have caught Roczen if he had cleared Prado sooner, ultimately highlighting how track position, holeshots, and early race execution are decisive at the elite level. Prado’s role is framed as strategic and justified, as he is racing for position and establishing himself, while Roczen’s composed ride reflects a mature approach built on race management, momentum, and minimizing mistakes.Topic 3: Eli Tomac’s Record vs. Haiden Deegan’s RecordThe final topic compares the significance of records set by Eli Tomac and Haiden Deegan, questioning whether milestones like podium totals or early career wins truly matter to elite athletes. The consensus is that while records create headlines and historical context, top competitors are driven by winning rather than statistics. Tomac’s longevity and consistency are contrasted with Deegan’s rapid rise and early success, reinforcing that legacy is built through sustained performance, mental resilience, and progression, not just numbers on paper. Ricky & Robb Podcast Show - Ep.2
Ricky and Robb Episode #2 of the Ricky and Robb Podcast dives deep into whether Kenny is stepping up or Hunter is losing his grip; the length of the main events – good or bad choice; which provides better vision in the rain and mud – roll offs or tear offs. The conversation opens by reflecting on Ken Roczen’s performance and legacy, highlighting the emotional reality of seeing records challenged while also respecting the perseverance required to achieve them. The discussion evolves into a deeper analysis of Roczen’s current form, concluding that while he may not be at his most spectacular peak, he is riding at his most complete level—combining experience, mental strength, and consistency. In contrast, Hunter Lawrence remains fast and capable but is losing ground due to small mistakes, pressure, and situational challenges like mud races. The key takeaway is that Roczen is capitalizing on momentum and staying present, while Hunter is battling execution under pressure. The second portion of the conversation debates whether shortening main events due to extreme weather conditions is justified. One side emphasizes rider safety, visibility, and the unpredictable nature of mud as a legitimate reason to reduce race length, framing those races as survival-based rather than performance-driven. The opposing perspective focuses on the fan experience and the importance of delivering a full show, especially for those who invest time and money to attend. Ultimately, the consensus leans toward a balanced approach, acknowledging that slight adjustments are appropriate for safety, but the integrity of competition and entertainment must still be preserved. The final segment dives into technical strategy with roll-offs versus tear-offs in muddy conditions, concluding that a combination approach provides the best advantage. Beyond equipment, the conversation emphasizes preparation, adaptability, and confidence in adverse conditions as the true differentiators.Coach Robb's Resources (articles, videos, etc.) about health, wellness and performance: ► https://www.coachrobb.com/ ► Resources such as the 2-Week Food Challenge, Sweat Rate Calculator, and Body Measurement Spreadsheet, click here: https://coachrobb.activehosted.com/f/25 Coach Robb's Exclusive Exercise and Recovery Products (designed by Coach Robb):► Energy Fuel (Intensity and Duration Specific Sports Drink): https://www.coachrobbstore.com/energy-fuel-products/Coach Robb's Suggested Vitamins & Minerals: ► Nutritional Frontiers Supplements (Developed and Recommended Supplements of Coach Robb) https://www.coachrobbstore.com/nutritional-bundles/Coach Robb's Snacks, Smoothies and Meal Resources:Coach Robb's Healthy Meals, Smoothies and Snack Recipe Books available in print and digital formats on Coach Robb Store and Amazon.► Healthy Meals ► Smoothie Recipes ► Snack Recipes Coach Robb's Educational Bundles:► Nutrition for Weight Loss Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/weight-loss-educational-bundle/► Nutrition for Performance Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/fueling-performance-educational-bundle/

The Ricky & Robb Podcast Show - Episode 1
Triple Crown Racing Format This episode opens with a deep dive into Triple Crown racing vs traditional formats, debating whether shorter, high-intensity races truly showcase fitness, endurance, and race craft. A proposed “mid-race restart” concept introduces a fresh perspective on improving fan engagement, race strategy, and competitive balance, while emphasizing how starts, pacing strategy, and fatigue management influence race outcomes.Kawasaki WoesThe discussion then shifts into motorcycle performance vs rider performance, specifically addressing whether factory bikes or athletes are responsible for inconsistent results. The key takeaway is clear: elite motocross performance is a razor’s edge, where small setup changes, tire selection, and mental readiness can dramatically impact results. The hosts highlight how overtraining, mental fatigue, and lack of focus can limit performance just as much as mechanical setup, reinforcing the importance of data-driven training, recovery strategies, and athlete mindset in achieving consistent podium finishes.SX End of Season PredictionThe final segment explores championship predictions, race strategy, and pressure scenarios, breaking down how starts, consistency, and mental execution under pressure will determine the title outcome. The conversation emphasizes that championships are often decided not by dominance, but by mistakes, mechanical failures, and adaptability under stress. The episode closes with personal reflections on competition mindset, resilience, and accountability, reinforcing a core message for athletes: success comes from ownership, discipline, and continuous improvement, both on and off the track. The Vet Show - Ep. 20 with John Anderson of DUBYA Wheels
This episode of The Vet Show breaks down the critical relationship between motocross fitness, strength training, flexibility, and injury prevention, emphasizing that performance is not built on one element alone. Strength without flexibility increases injury risk, while flexibility without strength limits control and durability. The conversation highlights how many riders lack structure in their training, often relying on feel rather than data, yet still benefit from riding for mental clarity, stress relief, and overall health. The importance of balancing structured training with unstructured riding is reinforced, showing that both aerobic training and mental reset rides play a role in long-term performance and consistency.A major theme is the concept of training intensity vs recovery balance, where most riders go too hard on easy days and lack the energy to perform on hard days, leading to stalled progress. The discussion connects heart rate training, aerobic capacity, and energy system development to real-world riding performance, explaining how staying in an aerobic state improves endurance, decision-making, and mental focus on the bike. Cross-training through cycling, strength work, and endurance activities is shown to directly transfer to motocross performance, improving bike control, safety, and fatigue resistance, especially for vet riders aiming to ride longer and safer. The conversation also dives deep into nutrition, hydration, and race-day fueling strategies, highlighting common mistakes like carb loading, poor meal timing, and overconsumption during high-intensity efforts. Riders are encouraged to maintain consistent daily nutrition rather than making drastic changes before races. Key insights include the body’s limit of roughly 300 calories per hour during high-intensity activity, the importance of fuel timing, and avoiding complex foods when heart rate is elevated. Ultimately, the episode reinforces a data-driven approach to performance, encouraging riders to stop guessing and instead align training, nutrition, recovery, and mindset to achieve sustainable gains while reducing injury risk. Navigating Amateur MX: Ep. 25: Engine Hours vs. Cycles | Training Intensity vs. Hours Training
This episode of Navigating Amateur Motocross breaks down a critical but often misunderstood concept in motocross performance: the difference between engine hours vs engine cycles and how that directly mirrors training intensity vs time spent training. Just like an athlete can spend an hour in the gym with minimal output or maximum effort, a motorcycle engine experiences drastically different wear depending on RPM, load, and riding style. High RPM, aggressive riding, and increased race pace dramatically accelerate engine wear, meaning faster riders must adopt shorter maintenance intervals to match their performance level. The conversation expands into the connection between mechanical performance and human performance, emphasizing that both systems follow the same principles of stress, recovery, and adaptation. As athletes improve and increase intensity, the demand on both the body and the machine rises, requiring more precise maintenance, recovery strategies, and data tracking. The discussion highlights how many riders and parents misinterpret mechanical failures as defects, when in reality they are often the result of increased performance demands, poor maintenance habits, or lack of awareness around workload and stress.A major theme throughout the episode is complacency and lack of awareness. Many riders unknowingly create performance limitations through poor habits such as over-revving the engine, neglecting maintenance, skipping proper warm-ups, or failing to analyze data. The episode stresses the importance of integrating riding coaches, engine builders, and performance data to create a unified approach. True performance gains come from understanding cause and effect, improving technique, managing intensity, and making data-driven decisions rather than relying on guesswork or “what sounds fast.” Coach Robb's Resources (articles, videos, etc.) about health, wellness and performance: ► https://www.coachrobb.com/ ► Resources such as the 2-Week Food Challenge, Sweat Rate Calculator, and Body Measurement Spreadsheet, click here: https://coachrobb.activehosted.com/f/25 Coach Robb's Exclusive Exercise and Recovery Products (designed by Coach Robb):► Energy Fuel (Intensity and Duration Specific Sports Drink): https://www.coachrobbstore.com/energy-fuel-products/Coach Robb's Suggested Vitamins & Minerals: ► Nutritional Frontiers Supplements (Developed and Recommended Supplements of Coach Robb) https://www.coachrobbstore.com/nutritional-bundles/Coach Robb's Snacks, Smoothies and Meal Resources:Coach Robb's Healthy Meals, Smoothies and Snack Recipe Books available in print and digital formats on Coach Robb Store and Amazon.► Healthy Meals ► Smoothie Recipes ► Snack Recipes Coach Robb's Educational Bundles:► Nutrition for Weight Loss Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/weight-loss-educational-bundle/► Nutrition for Performance Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/fueling-performance-educational-bundle/

Navigating Amateur Motocross - Episode 24 (Engine Maintenance - Heat & Starts)
In episode #24 of Navigating Amateur Motocross, Coach Robb and Derek Harris break down how engine maintenance, dirt bike performance, and race day consistency are closely connected. The conversation explains why two stroke top end maintenance is so important, including piston wear, ring seal, reeds, carburetion, and jetting, and why riders should never assume a bike with hours on it is still making peak horsepower. They also compare two stroke vs four stroke durability, showing how performance can fade well before a major failure ever happens. For families serious about amateur motocross, this episode gives practical insight into how mechanical condition directly affects speed, reliability, and confidence on the track. The discussion then goes deeper into motocross engine building by comparing cast piston vs forged piston choices, heat expansion, high cycle fatigue, RPM stress, and service intervals. Derek explains that forged pistons may offer more durability in certain situations, while cast pistons can often provide stronger power, creating an important tradeoff for racers and parents to understand. Real-world examples from KTM 125, superminis, and elite race bikes show how ignoring piston hours, stroke changes, or heat management can lead to costly failures. For anyone chasing more engine reliability, motocross horsepower, and dirt bike performance, this episode delivers clear lessons on how smart maintenance decisions improve results. The final portion shifts into motocross starts, clutch control, bike warm up, and riding technique, emphasizing that consistency starts before the gate drops. Derek explains how factory teams warm the full engine, clutch, and oil system to achieve a stable operating temperature and a more precise clutch engagement point. The episode also warns against hot-lapping starts, clutch abuse, and poor corner technique, which create excess heat, damage equipment, and hurt lap times. Overall, this is a must-watch conversation for riders and parents focused on motocross training, race starts, clutch setup, engine longevity, and amateur motocross performance.Topics of Discussion: 00:00 Intro 02:31 Engine Strength 07:41 Engine Materials16:08 Cast vs. Forged 26:32 Thermal Expansion 33:09 Starts & Clutches 42:03 Heat Management For our full disclaimer policy, visit:https://completeracingsolutions.com/coach-robb-beams-youtube-channel-disclaimer-policy/All Rights Reserved. © 2026https://youtu.be/RfwEkNDR0UkCoach Robb's Resources (articles, videos, etc.) about health, wellness and performance: ► https://www.coachrobb.com/ ► Resources such as the 2-Week Food Challenge, Sweat Rate Calculator, and Body Measurement Spreadsheet, click here: https://coachrobb.activehosted.com/f/25 Coach Robb's Exclusive Exercise and Recovery Products (designed by Coach Robb):► Energy Fuel (Intensity and Duration Specific Sports Drink): https://www.coachrobbstore.com/energy-fuel-products/Coach Robb's Suggested Vitamins & Minerals: ► Nutritional Frontiers Supplements (Developed and Recommended Supplements of Coach Robb) https://www.coachrobbstore.com/nutritional-bundles/Coach Robb's Snacks, Smoothies and Meal Resources:Coach Robb's Healthy Meals, Smoothies and Snack Recipe Books available in print and digital formats on Coach Robb Store and Amazon.► Healthy Meals ► Smoothie Recipes ► Snack Recipes Coach Robb's Educational Bundles:► Nutrition for Weight Loss Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/weight-loss-educational-bundle/► Nutrition for Performance Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/fueling-performance-educational-bundle/

The Vet Show - Episode 19
In Episode 19 of The Vet Show, the conversation centers on how to stay injury free in motocross, with a strong focus on the misunderstood role of flexibility, warm up timing, and tissue preparation for vet riders. The discussion opens by highlighting the realities vet motocross athletes face while balancing life stress, bike prep, and performance demands. The hosts emphasize that many riders are unknowingly increasing their injury risk through outdated warm up and stretching habits. High search keywords include motocross injury prevention, vet motocross training, motocross flexibility, and stay injury free motocross.A major myth is challenged when Coach Rob explains why riders should stop stretching cold muscles, especially first thing in the morning or immediately at the track. The physiology behind the myotactic stretch reflex shows that cold stretching can actually increase the risk of muscle tears and scar tissue formation. Instead, riders are encouraged to follow a structured warm up sequence that includes light sport specific movement, dynamic mobility work, and foam rolling before any static stretching. This process improves range of motion, muscle elasticity, and motocross performance while reducing injury risk. The episode also connects flexibility to hydration, nutrition, and joint function. Proper hydration and consistent intake of fruits and vegetables support electrolyte balance, tissue lubrication, and muscle function. The hosts stress that flexibility without strength is incomplete, setting the stage for Part Two. The overarching message is that smart preparation beats hard effort, and that vet riders who manage warm up, mobility, and recovery correctly will ride longer, faster, and with fewer injuries.Video Takeaways:► Audit your current warm up routine using proven motocross injury prevention principles instead of stretching cold muscles before riding.►Implement a structured dynamic warm up and foam rolling routine to improve range of motion, reduce arm pump risk, and stay injury free in motocross.►Track daily hydration and electrolyte intake to support muscle function, prevent cramping, and improve motocross performance.►Increase daily fruit and vegetable intake to enhance recovery, energy production, and tissue health for vet motocross riders.Timestamps: 0:33: Athletic Durability 2:36: Reality of Injuries 14:19: Stop Stretching!19:42: Warm Up Mistakes31:51: Pain Site vs Pain SourceCoach Robb's Resources (articles, videos, etc.) about health, wellness and performance: ► https://www.coachrobb.com/ ► Resources such as the 2-Week Food Challenge, Sweat Rate Calculator, and Body Measurement Spreadsheet, click here: https://coachrobb.activehosted.com/f/25 Coach Robb's Exclusive Exercise and Recovery Products (designed by Coach Robb):► Energy Fuel (Intensity and Duration Specific Sports Drink): https://www.coachrobbstore.com/energy-fuel-products/Coach Robb's Suggested Vitamins & Minerals: ► Nutritional Frontiers Supplements (Developed and Recommended Supplements of Coach Robb) https://www.coachrobbstore.com/nutritional-bundles/Coach Robb's Snacks, Smoothies and Meal Resources:Coach Robb's Healthy Meals, Smoothies and Snack Recipe Books available in print and digital formats on Coach Robb Store and Amazon.► Healthy Meals ► Smoothie Recipes ► Snack Recipes Coach Robb's Educational Bundles:► Nutrition for Weight Loss Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/weight-loss-educational-bundle/► Nutrition for Performance Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/fueling-performance-educational-bundle/

Navigating Amateur Motocross- Episode 23 #CoachRobb
In this episode of Navigating Amateur Motocross, Coach Robb Beams and Derek Harris (HP Race Development) break down the biggest misconception in amateur motocross training: that success comes from last-minute effort instead of long-term planning. Using a six-month runway to Loretta Lynn’s Amateur National, they explain why elite performance starts with a baseline assessment, then training to the exact demands of race week (heat, humidity, multiple days, and 20-minute motos). Derek compares this to engine development: you don’t chase dyno numbers first, you build with purpose (short track vs long track), so power delivery is controllable, predictable, and durable, not “unusable.”Coach Robb maps the same logic to motocross fitness and human performance. The foundation begins with body measurements, muscle symmetry, injury history, and testing across the “three dimensions” of riding (left/right, above/below, front/back). From there, athletes build the “two rails” together: strength base + aerobic engine, supported by endurance training, lactate tolerance, heart rate training, and retesting every six weeks. The warning is clear: when strength develops without aerobic capacity (or vice versa), riders derail into inconsistency, preventable fatigue, and frustration. Real speed isn’t just “working harder,” it’s building a balanced system that matches race demands. The episode then ties mindset and execution into the same performance system. Derek explains why “more power” often hurts starts and lap times: too much power too early causes wheel spin, wheelies, and late reaction corrections, which is why elite teams use mapping and electronics to deliver power at the right time. Coach Robb translates that into physiology: riders who panic after a bad gate pick and cross their anaerobic threshold too early will fade in a 20-minute moto, no matter how “fit” they think they are. The conversation expands into the long game: grit vs complacency (Cooper Webb vs AC), the B-class curse, and why champions keep doing the basics (sleep, recovery, nutrition, soft tissue) even after early success. The key takeaway for parents and athletes: it’s usually better to be 1% undertrained than 1% overtrained, because the goal is to stay healthy, keep progressing, and peak when it matters especially during key growth windows ages 14–17.Coach Robb's Resources (articles, videos, etc.) about health, wellness and performance: ► https://www.coachrobb.com/ ► Resources such as the 2-Week Food Challenge, Sweat Rate Calculator, and Body Measurement Spreadsheet, click here: https://coachrobb.activehosted.com/f/25 Coach Robb's Exclusive Exercise and Recovery Products (designed by Coach Robb):► Energy Fuel (Intensity and Duration Specific Sports Drink): https://www.coachrobbstore.com/energy-fuel-products/Coach Robb's Suggested Vitamins & Minerals: ► Nutritional Frontiers Supplements (Developed and Recommended Supplements of Coach Robb) https://www.coachrobbstore.com/nutritional-bundles/Coach Robb's Snacks, Smoothies and Meal Resources:Coach Robb's Healthy Meals, Smoothies and Snack Recipe Books available in print and digital formats on Coach Robb Store and Amazon.► Healthy Meals ► Smoothie Recipes ► Snack Recipes Coach Robb's Educational Bundles:► Nutrition for Weight Loss Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/weight-loss-educational-bundle/► Nutrition for Performance Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/fueling-performance-educational-bundle/

Meet the Guest - Next Chapter with Caden Braswell
This episode breaks down the motocross mindset behind elite performance by following Caden Braswell's path from top amateur to pro, showing how mental toughness, competitive drive, and character development are built through environment, not just talent. The conversation emphasizes that winning matters, but long-term success comes from execution, discipline, and performance accountability, reinforced through years of Loretta Lynn’s motocross, amateur nationals, and high-pressure divisions. It reframes competitiveness as a learned skill shaped by family values, coaching structure, and internal standards, with strong themes of sports psychology for athletes and elite racing psychology. The discussion also highlights the hidden cost of chasing the sport at a high level: moving out at 15, living with a full-time trainer, balancing homeschooling, training, nutrition, and race prep while navigating financial stress, injuries, and emotional volatility. Caden explains that motivation isn’t simply fear of failure or the pleasure of success; it’s driven by faith, discipline, and the pursuit of a “perfect race”. The episode connects these realities to the bigger picture of youth motocross development, the amateur-to-pro transition, and how riders mature under pressure when the grind is constant. The second half confronts the business realities of pro racing where results alone don’t guarantee opportunities. Even with major wins, including Loretta titles and a defining international victory that helped lead to an Orange Brigade opportunity, Caden describes how relationships, timing, and the motocross economy can shape careers. He details the instability of early pro life—new teams, new bikes, new tracks, weekly travel, sickness, limited recovery—and the mental load of being evaluated constantly in the Supercross / SMX series environment. The close reinforces how he handled self-doubt and mental health in motorsports through faith, family, trusted mentors, and honest feedback—building resilience and identity beyond podiums.Coach Robb's Resources (articles, videos, etc.) about health, wellness and performance: ► https://www.coachrobb.com/ ► Resources such as the 2-Week Food Challenge, Sweat Rate Calculator, and Body Measurement Spreadsheet, click here: https://coachrobb.activehosted.com/f/25 Coach Robb's Exclusive Exercise and Recovery Products (designed by Coach Robb):► Energy Fuel (Intensity and Duration Specific Sports Drink): https://www.coachrobbstore.com/energy-fuel-products/Coach Robb's Suggested Vitamins & Minerals: ► Nutritional Frontiers Supplements (Developed and Recommended Supplements of Coach Robb) https://www.coachrobbstore.com/nutritional-bundles/Coach Robb's Snacks, Smoothies and Meal Resources:Coach Robb's Healthy Meals, Smoothies and Snack Recipe Books available in print and digital formats on Coach Robb Store and Amazon.► Healthy Meals ► Smoothie Recipes ► Snack Recipes Coach Robb's Educational Bundles:► Nutrition for Weight Loss Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/weight-loss-educational-bundle/► Nutrition for Performance Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/fueling-performance-educational-bundle/

The Vet Show: Episode 18
Episode 18 of The Vet Show blends old-school motocross storytelling with a modern performance wake-up call for vet motocross and off-road riders. The show opens with “#18” nostalgia—Davey Milsaps, Jeff Emig, Jeremy McGrath, two-stroke memories, and the “back in the day” racing culture—then pivots into today’s reality: a hyper-digital world where instant gratification, public exposure, and shortcuts can wreck momentum fast. The bigger point is clear: the riders who win long-term aren’t just talented—they’re consistent, disciplined, and building a life that supports faster riding, better fitness, and better decision-making.The core coaching message for 2026 is motivation vs discipline: most riders already have goals (leaner, stronger, better sprint speed, better endurance, less stress, better results), but repeating the same habits produces the same outcomes. Discipline means showing up even when you don’t feel like it—scaling the session if needed—but still honoring the plan. That discipline is built through daily choices: sleep consistency, hydration, real food, meal prep, and saying “no” to the distractions that sabotage training. Your calendar and checkbook reveal your real priorities, and the episode reinforces that you don’t “plan the future”—you plan today’s actions, and those actions create the next six months. The most actionable section tackles one of the biggest frustrations in weight loss for men over 40 and vet riders: the scale is often misunderstood. The episode explains why the scale can rise when you’re doing things right—glycogen and water retention from fruits/vegetables, improved hydration, and inflammation after workouts—none of which equals fat gain. Sleep and hormones tie directly into this: under-fueling leads to poor sleep, which reduces recovery and disrupts key hormones like testosterone and HGH, making body composition changes harder. The solution is simple and measurable: start with real food, track Garmin calories burned vs intake (MyFitnessPal), use the scale for hydration/inflammation trends, and lean on performance tools like a Garmin watch, heart rate monitor, HRV, Body Battery, and stress score to guide training and recovery.Coach Robb's Resources (articles, videos, etc.) about health, wellness and performance: ► https://www.coachrobb.com/ ► Resources such as the 2-Week Food Challenge, Sweat Rate Calculator, and Body Measurement Spreadsheet, click here: https://coachrobb.activehosted.com/f/25 Coach Robb's Exclusive Exercise and Recovery Products (designed by Coach Robb):► Energy Fuel (Intensity and Duration Specific Sports Drink): https://www.coachrobbstore.com/energy-fuel-products/Coach Robb's Suggested Vitamins & Minerals: ► Nutritional Frontiers Supplements (Developed and Recommended Supplements of Coach Robb) https://www.coachrobbstore.com/nutritional-bundles/Coach Robb's Snacks, Smoothies and Meal Resources:Coach Robb's Healthy Meals, Smoothies and Snack Recipe Books available in print and digital formats on Coach Robb Store and Amazon.► Healthy Meals ► Smoothie Recipes ► Snack Recipes Coach Robb's Educational Bundles:► Nutrition for Weight Loss Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/weight-loss-educational-bundle/► Nutrition for Performance Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/fueling-performance-educational-bundle/

Navigating Amateur Motocross - Ep.22 w/Ricky "RJ" Johnson: Playing the Long Game
With special guest, Ricky "RJ" Johnson, this conversation reframes amateur motocross development around long-term strategy, preparation, and execution rather than quick fixes or horsepower. Drawing on decades of racing experience and modern performance science, the discussion makes it clear that readiness for events like Daytona, Loretta Lynn’s, and spring nationals is built months in advance through intentional planning—not last-minute changes. Tools such as heart-rate monitoring, performance testing, and structured training blocks allow athletes to identify whether they are overtrained or underprepared, replacing the outdated “no pain, no gain” mindset with data-driven decision-making. Just like the human body, engines, suspension, and chassis setup must be proven, familiar, and stable well before race day to support consistent performance.A recurring theme is that smoother execution beats raw power—especially at the amateur level. Excessive horsepower, heavily modified bikes, and aggressive riding styles often slow riders down because technique, timing, and physiological readiness cannot support the output. Proper shifting, throttle control, clutch use, braking, and racecraft deliver far greater lap-time gains than expensive engine work, while comfort, consistency, and communication accelerate progress. Long-term success comes from accountability, clear feedback, structured reflection, and balanced training that preserves enjoyment of riding. Winning is not about a perfect bike or chasing equipment—it’s about becoming a smarter, more adaptable athlete who understands their body, their machine, and how to apply both under pressure.Coach Robb's Resources (articles, videos, etc.) about health, wellness and performance: ► https://www.coachrobb.com/ ► Resources such as the 2-Week Food Challenge, Sweat Rate Calculator, and Body Measurement Spreadsheet, click here: https://coachrobb.activehosted.com/f/25 Coach Robb's Exclusive Exercise and Recovery Products (designed by Coach Robb):► Energy Fuel (Intensity and Duration Specific Sports Drink): https://www.coachrobbstore.com/energy-fuel-products/Coach Robb's Suggested Vitamins & Minerals: ► Nutritional Frontiers Supplements (Developed and Recommended Supplements of Coach Robb) https://www.coachrobbstore.com/nutritional-bundles/Coach Robb's Snacks, Smoothies and Meal Resources:Coach Robb's Healthy Meals, Smoothies and Snack Recipe Books available in print and digital formats on Coach Robb Store and Amazon.► Healthy Meals ► Smoothie Recipes ► Snack Recipes Coach Robb's Educational Bundles:► Nutrition for Weight Loss Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/weight-loss-educational-bundle/► Nutrition for Performance Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/fueling-performance-educational-bundle/

Navigating Amateur Motocross - Ep. 21: When You Simply are Not Fast Enough!
In this episode of Navigating Amateur Motocross, Coach Robb and Derek Harris of HP Development break down why riders often believe their bike, or their body, “isn’t fast enough,” even when the data (like dyno results) shows the setup is strong. Derek explains that most performance complaints don’t require a full rebuild; they usually come down to optimizing within a small “window” using jetting, needle clip position, power valve adjustment, reeds, hour meter tracking, and detailed notes. Those tiny 1–3% tweaks may not show clearly on a dyno, but they can feel huge on track especially for riders chasing sharper response and better late-race pull.Coach Robb applies the same logic to human performance, using the bike as the analogy: if you want speed, endurance, and late-race fitness, you can’t ignore “fuel.” With Garmin calories in vs. calories out (and MyFitnessPal integration), under-fueling becomes the human version of “running out of gas mid-moto” it’s just harder to see until performance drops. Coach Robb emphasizes that many “fitness problems” are actually fueling, hydration, and recovery problems, and that athletes must practice race-day nutrition on low-stress days through race-day simulation, so it becomes automatic when nerves, schedule pressure, and high heart rate make eating difficult. Finally, they connect the dots with a powerful “mechanical vs. human maintenance” framework. Riders obsess over top ends, pistons, horsepower loss, throttle response, radiators, and preventative teardowns because failure is expensive and obvious, but the body can lose performance faster through dehydration, poor sleep quality, calorie deficits, and cumulative fatigue. Using Garmin’s sleep report, Body Battery, and morning/evening weigh-ins, Coach Robb illustrates how athletes quietly slip into the negative until they’re forced to rest. The core message is clear: rebuild the body daily: validate calories, sleep, and hydration the same way you check gas, oil, and coolant so practice days, coaching sessions, and race weekends aren’t wasted showing up already empty.Coach Robb's Resources (articles, videos, etc.) about health, wellness and performance: ► https://www.coachrobb.com/ ► Resources such as the 2-Week Food Challenge, Sweat Rate Calculator, and Body Measurement Spreadsheet, click here: https://coachrobb.activehosted.com/f/25 Coach Robb's Exclusive Exercise and Recovery Products (designed by Coach Robb):► Energy Fuel (Intensity and Duration Specific Sports Drink): https://www.coachrobbstore.com/energy-fuel-products/Coach Robb's Suggested Vitamins & Minerals: ► Nutritional Frontiers Supplements (Developed and Recommended Supplements of Coach Robb) https://www.coachrobbstore.com/nutritional-bundles/Coach Robb's Snacks, Smoothies and Meal Resources:Coach Robb's Healthy Meals, Smoothies and Snack Recipe Books available in print and digital formats on Coach Robb Store and Amazon.► Healthy Meals ► Smoothie Recipes ► Snack Recipes Coach Robb's Educational Bundles:► Nutrition for Weight Loss Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/weight-loss-educational-bundle/► Nutrition for Performance Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/fueling-performance-educational-bundle/

Navigating Amateur Motocross - Ep. 20: How Heat Destroys Performance
In this episode of the Coach Robb Podcast Network, presented by HBI Auto, Coach Robb and Derek Harris of HP Development connect physics, physiology, and race strategy for motocross, supercross, GNCC, and Vet riders. They compare the human body to a motocross engine especially in heat, humidity, and long race weekends using examples from Central Florida summer races, Loretta Lynn’s Amateur National, Daytona, Gatorback, Mammoth, and even the “Energy Lab” at the Ironman World Championships in Kona. The conversation breaks down how heat always robs power, regardless of brands, four-stroke/two-stroke, or an under-fueled, dehydrated rider dealing with adrenal fatigue, relative energy deficiency (RED-S), night sweats, sugar cravings, low libido, and irritability. They explain why riders must stop “fighting the laws of physics and physiology” by sprinting 20-minute motos like 4–5 minute qualifiers, abusing the clutch, panic revving off the limiter, and then blaming horsepower, the motor, or the fitness program when engines fail and lap times fall apart.Coach Robb and Derek use Formula 1 shift lights, MotoGP data, dyno runs, and Garmin heart rate analytics (HR, HRV, Body Battery, resting heart rate) to show how over-revving, mis-shifting, and clutch abuse are the number one bike killers—and the perfect mirror of poor human performance habits. They walk through a KTM engine autopsy with a blued clutch basket at 500°F, burned oil at 400°F, and rod bearing failure caused by excessive clutch slip, then parallel it to athletes who never truly train at 80%, 90%, and 100% of max, can’t dissipate heat, clear metabolic waste, or deliver enough sugar at race pace. Through drag race drills (85 vs 125 vs 250F), race-day simulations, VO2 and lactate-threshold workouts, precise heart rate zones, hydration and calorie strategies, they prove that most amateurs don’t lose by lack of horsepower, they lose by bad habits, poor race craft, and misunderstanding energy systems over multi-day events. The episode closes by stressing a healthy team environment between rider, parents, mechanic, and coach, teaching athletes to speak up when the bike or body feels wrong, and reminding listeners that this knowledge is their secret weapon in classes with 1,000+ riders chasing just 42 spots at Loretta’s.Coach Robb's Resources (articles, videos, etc.) about health, wellness and performance: ► https://www.coachrobb.com/ ► Resources such as the 2-Week Food Challenge, Sweat Rate Calculator, and Body Measurement Spreadsheet, click here: https://coachrobb.activehosted.com/f/25 Coach Robb's Exclusive Exercise and Recovery Products (designed by Coach Robb):► Energy Fuel (Intensity and Duration Specific Sports Drink): https://www.coachrobbstore.com/energy-fuel-products/Coach Robb's Suggested Vitamins & Minerals: ► Nutritional Frontiers Supplements (Developed and Recommended Supplements of Coach Robb) https://www.coachrobbstore.com/nutritional-bundles/Coach Robb's Snacks, Smoothies and Meal Resources:Coach Robb's Healthy Meals, Smoothies and Snack Recipe Books available in print and digital formats on Coach Robb Store and Amazon.► Healthy Meals ► Smoothie Recipes ► Snack Recipes Coach Robb's Educational Bundles:► Nutrition for Weight Loss Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/weight-loss-educational-bundle/► Nutrition for Performance Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/fueling-performance-educational-bundle/

The Vet Show Ep. 17 with Zeb Armstrong: Mastering the Mental Game
In Episode #17, Toolman Dan and Coach Robb welcome former pro racer and track owner Zeb Armstrong, the man behind Riverfront MX, Prairie City, and The Sandbox. Together, they explore what it truly means to master the mental game as a vet racer balancing the thrill of competition with the realities of age, family, and responsibility. The conversation begins with lighthearted bench-racing nostalgia featuring riders like Barcia, Anderson, Howerton, and RJ, before shifting toward the evolution of the motocross industry, from legendary gear brands to the modern business of track ownership. The episode sets the tone for an in-depth look at how the sport, its athletes, and its community have matured over time.Zeb offers an unfiltered perspective on the vet rider mindset, revealing how fear, risk, and ego evolve as life’s responsibilities take center stage. He emphasizes the importance of pacing, humility, and awareness in riding safely while still finding joy in the process. Coach Robb expands on this with a detailed breakdown of the physiology of fatigue, explaining how aerobic conditioning, muscular endurance, and lactate tolerance work together to sustain performance. The two discuss how tools like Garmin data and consistent recovery routines help riders understand when to push and when to pull back finding that crucial balance between competitive drive and physical limitations. They also explore how residual fatigue from work, family, and daily stress can quietly erode both physical output and mental sharpness, often mistaken for an “off day.”The conversation concludes with a powerful look into the mental and emotional side of racing, showing how stress hormones, poor recovery habits, and lack of proper nutrition can cloud focus and decision-making on the track. Zeb shares his personal challenges managing multiple motocross facilities while striving to carve out time for his own riding, offering a relatable glimpse into the struggle for balance. He also opens up about mentoring others from kids on 50s to fellow vet riders and how helping others improve reignites his own passion for the sport. Navigating Amateur MX - Ep. 19
In Episode #19 of Navigating Amateur Motocross, Coach Robb and Derek Harris of HP Race Development break down the true purpose of the off-season and preseason, a period most riders misuse or overlook. They explain that these phases aren’t downtime; they are the foundation for future success, where athletes rebuild strength, correct deficiencies, and develop the aerobic and muscular systems that prevent burnout and fatigue-related diseases like Epstein-Barr. Through Complete Med Solutions, Coach Robb highlights how early bloodwork, hydration testing, and recovery tracking using Garmin data give athletes the insights needed to balance stress and recovery. By identifying deficiencies in B6, B12, or iron early, athletes avoid unnecessary overtraining, mental fatigue, and diminished confidence. The pair emphasize that smart athletes rest, recover, and strategically rebuild their base because trying to maintain peak performance all year long is both unsustainable and dangerous.Additionally, they draw powerful parallels between engine tuning and human physiology, showing that strength is the piston and aerobic capacity is the carburetor—both must grow together to deliver sustainable speed. Just like a race bike requires regular service, fresh bearings, and proper suspension settings, the human body needs rest, recovery, and fueling precision. Derek stresses the importance of documentation, testing, and mechanical awareness: learning how to be a test rider, maintaining consistent service intervals, and understanding how each click, spring, and sprocket change affects performance. The episode closes with a simple but powerful truth, success isn’t about grinding harder; it’s about aligning physiology, mechanics, and mindset. Whether it’s Energy Fuel, Recovery Fuel, or preseason structure, the message is clear: Champions are Built, Not Burned Out.Coach Robb's Resources (articles, videos, etc.) about health, wellness and performance: ► https://www.coachrobb.com/ ► Resources such as the 2-Week Food Challenge, Sweat Rate Calculator, and Body Measurement Spreadsheet, click here: https://coachrobb.activehosted.com/f/25 Coach Robb's Exclusive Exercise and Recovery Products (designed by Coach Robb):► Energy Fuel (Intensity and Duration Specific Sports Drink): https://www.coachrobbstore.com/energy-fuel-products/Coach Robb's Suggested Vitamins & Minerals: ► Nutritional Frontiers Supplements (Developed and Recommended Supplements of Coach Robb) https://www.coachrobbstore.com/nutritional-bundles/Coach Robb's Snacks, Smoothies and Meal Resources:Coach Robb's Healthy Meals, Smoothies and Snack Recipe Books available in print and digital formats on Coach Robb Store and Amazon.► Healthy Meals ► Smoothie Recipes ► Snack Recipes Coach Robb's Educational Bundles:► Nutrition for Weight Loss Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/weight-loss-educational-bundle/► Nutrition for Performance Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/fueling-performance-educational-bundle/

The Vet Show Ep. #16: Keep Nutrition Simple – Daily Tips and Tricks
Episode #16 dives into “fueling for health and performance” for vet riders: keep nutrition simple (shop the perimeter), fix the calorie gap first (use Garmin for burn + MyFitnessPal for intake), and remember that macronutrients (carbs/protein/fats) need micronutrients (vitamins/minerals from fruits/veggies) to power energy, immunity, and injury resistance. Extreme diets (keto, OMAD, etc.) may backfire—driving cravings, adrenal stress, and muscle loss—so aim for consistent, quality eating to protect bones, ligaments, tendons, and lap-time consistency.Hydration gets equal billing: know your sweat rate, avoid hyponatremia from plain water overload, and use electrolytes (e.g., energy fuel) to absorb fluids and preserve muscle contraction. Practical race-day plan: finish a normal breakfast ≥2 hours pre-ride; between motos target ~300–350 kcal/hr (e.g., half bottle of sports drink + half Uncrustable, not both in full) and sip electrolytes before/during/after. Low blood sugar wrecks depth perception and decision-making, which raises crash risk—so keep fuel steady. Finally, watch recovery metrics—Body Battery, stress score, resting HR—to judge readiness; overtraining = exceeding what you can absorb, not a set number of hours.► Track your calorie burn vs. intake for 4 days using Garmin + MyFitnessPal and close the gap before changing macros. ► Calculate your sweat rate and switch to electrolytes (not plain water) between motos to prevent cramps and maintain lap times. ► Build a simple race-day fueling plan: breakfast ≥2 hrs. pre-ride, then 300–350 kcal/hr. + steady sips of Energy Fuel.► Audit recovery with Body Battery, stress score, resting HR; if they trend down, scale volume before you tip into overtraining. ► Skip fad diets; prioritize whole foods, fruits/veggies, quality fats (omega- 3s/MCTs) to support immune system and injury prevention.Coach Robb's Resources (articles, videos, etc.) about health, wellness and performance: ► https://www.coachrobb.com/ ► Resources such as the 2-Week Food Challenge, Sweat Rate Calculator, and Body Measurement Spreadsheet, click here: https://coachrobb.activehosted.com/f/25 Coach Robb's Exclusive Exercise and Recovery Products (designed by Coach Robb):► Energy Fuel (Intensity and Duration Specific Sports Drink): https://www.coachrobbstore.com/energy-fuel-products/Coach Robb's Suggested Vitamins & Minerals: ► Nutritional Frontiers Supplements (Developed and Recommended Supplements of Coach Robb) https://www.coachrobbstore.com/nutritional-bundles/Coach Robb's Snacks, Smoothies and Meal Resources:Coach Robb's Healthy Meals, Smoothies and Snack Recipe Books available in print and digital formats on Coach Robb Store and Amazon.► Healthy Meals ► Smoothie Recipes ► Snack Recipes Coach Robb's Educational Bundles:► Nutrition for Weight Loss Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/weight-loss-educational-bundle/► Nutrition for Performance Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/fueling-performance-educational-bundle/

Navigating Amateur Motocross Episode 18: Post Loretta's Review
The discussion begins by addressing the emotional rollercoaster families face at Loretta Lynn’s—celebrating good results or questioning their place in the sport when outcomes fall short. Derek Harris emphasizes that parents often misplace frustration on mechanical issues rather than recognizing the rider’s challenges with new tracks and pressure. Coach Robb points out that expectations should be based on regional performance multipliers, and shifting goals mid-event erodes both confidence and enjoyment. Families are reminded that celebrating incremental progress and setting realistic, consistent goals builds long-term development and confidence.Mechanical Prep vs. Rider PerformanceA recurring theme is the tendency to over-rely on shops and suspension tuners, which creates unrealistic expectations at a national event. When results dip, riders and parents often blame the bike—yet proven regional setups suddenly become “bad” without logical cause. Robb explains the “familiarity principle,” where confidence drops in unfamiliar conditions, and stresses that no amount of horsepower or suspension can replace adaptability, fitness, and rider fundamentals. True confidence comes from validated preparation—dyno runs, heat cycles, and consistent moto testing—not last-minute changes at the Ranch.Arm Pump, Pressure, and AccountabilityThe issue of arm pump surfaces as a common excuse. Robb clarifies that if athletes have been fine all season, sudden arm pump at Loretta’s is more often mental strain than physiological failure. Heart-rate data and moto simulations prove their fitness capacity, so struggles usually come from nerves, pressure, or mindset. Accountability becomes critical: athletes and families must debrief after each moto, separate controllable from uncontrollable factors, and avoid emotional finger-pointing. Even professional riders, like Jett Lawrence, model accountability by openly admitting setup mistakes, showing that responsibility fuels growth.Preparation, Execution, and Long-Term SuccessThe conversation closes by stressing that real success lies in disciplined preparation and execution. Small details—spare goggles for rain, cooling strategies, consistent starts, and proper clutch care—often separate winners from the pack. Riders must learn to articulate what they feel on the bike, blending feedback with technical data to avoid chasing myths about horsepower or suspension. Robb underscores his “Four Pillars of Success”—preparation, fitness, recovery, and strategy—as the foundation of championship habits. Families are reminded that confidence and results are not bought but built through responsibility, process, & long-term development.Coach Robb's Resources (articles, videos, etc.) about health, wellness and performance: ► https://www.coachrobb.com/ ► Resources such as the 2-Week Food Challenge, Sweat Rate Calculator, and Body Measurement Spreadsheet, click here: https://coachrobb.activehosted.com/f/25 Coach Robb's Exclusive Exercise and Recovery Products (designed by Coach Robb):► Energy Fuel (Intensity and Duration Specific Sports Drink): https://www.coachrobbstore.com/energy-fuel-products/Coach Robb's Suggested Vitamins & Minerals: ► Nutritional Frontiers Supplements (Developed and Recommended Supplements of Coach Robb) https://www.coachrobbstore.com/nutritional-bundles/Coach Robb's Snacks, Smoothies and Meal Resources:Coach Robb's Healthy Meals, Smoothies and Snack Recipe Books available in print and digital formats on Coach Robb Store and Amazon.► Healthy Meals ► Smoothie Recipes ► Snack Recipes Coach Robb's Educational Bundles:► Nutrition for Weight Loss Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/weight-loss-educational-bundle/► Nutrition for Performance Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/fueling-performance-educational-bundle/

Meet The Guest - Next Chapter with BMX Legend Greg Hill
Greg Hill’s journey in BMX began with childhood curiosity and family support but was shaped just as much by adversity as by talent. From balancing on his sisters’ Royce Union bikes to the chaos of his first race at ten years old, he was hooked immediately, thanks to his sister Tanya’s dedication to getting him to the track and his parents’ growing involvement in the sport. Growing up in a tough Santa Ana neighborhood, Greg learned early to stand up to bullies—a mindset that carried into racing and into fatherhood, where self-respect and resilience became non-negotiables. Those roots set the tone for a career that saw him rise into the pro ranks by 14, line up against legends like Stu Thompson and Gary Ellis, and develop a reputation as a clean, fearless competitor unwilling to compromise his ethics.Greg reflects on not only the highs but also the struggles that defined both him and the sport. His book Training for BMX became a lifeline for a generation seeking guidance in strength training and nutrition, inspiring Robb’s own career in physiology and coaching. Yet, while BMX thrived culturally in the 1980s—with ESPN events, iconic magazine covers, and fierce rivalries—Greg also battled the darker side: accusations of cheating within the sport, the rise of performance-enhancing drugs, and the pressure of competing against peers who didn’t always play by the same rules. He openly shares the frustration of knowing when something “didn’t add up” on the track and the challenge of holding onto integrity while others cut corners, underscoring the grit required to stay committed to clean competition.Greg also offers rare insight into the business and emotional toll behind the glory. He details the collapse of his GHP brand under manufacturing sabotage and financial strain, contracts cut short by untimely injuries, and the brutal reality of an industry that shifted overseas, killing smaller brands and drying up sponsorships. Even at his peak, financial security was uncertain, with bonuses and photo contingencies often dictating his livelihood. Despite setbacks, he describes the journey as both humbling and therapeutic, crediting BMX for the lessons in sacrifice, perseverance, and gratitude that continue to shape him today. For Greg, the legacy isn’t just in the wins, but in the honesty, the struggles, and the enduring belief that victories only matter when they’re earned the right way.Coach Robb's Resources (articles, videos, etc.) about health, wellness and performance: ► https://www.coachrobb.com/ ► Resources such as the 2-Week Food Challenge, Sweat Rate Calculator, and Body Measurement Spreadsheet, click here: https://coachrobb.activehosted.com/f/25 Coach Robb's Exclusive Exercise and Recovery Products (designed by Coach Robb):► Energy Fuel (Intensity and Duration Specific Sports Drink): https://www.coachrobbstore.com/energy-fuel-products/Coach Robb's Suggested Vitamins & Minerals: ► Nutritional Frontiers Supplements (Developed and Recommended Supplements of Coach Robb) https://www.coachrobbstore.com/nutritional-bundles/Coach Robb's Snacks, Smoothies and Meal Resources:Coach Robb's Healthy Meals, Smoothies and Snack Recipe Books available in print and digital formats on Coach Robb Store and Amazon.► Healthy Meals ► Smoothie Recipes ► Snack Recipes Coach Robb's Educational Bundles:► Nutrition for Weight Loss Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/weight-loss-educational-bundle/► Nutrition for Performance Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/fueling-performance-educational-bundle/

Meet the Guest - Next Chapter with Grant Langston
In this episode of Meet the Guest - Next Chapter, Grant Langston recounts how motocross first entered his family’s life in South Africa. His father was inspired after watching On Any Sunday, which led to a shared passion that carried through to Grant’s own childhood. At just five years old, he begged to ride a friend’s bike and was instantly hooked. At 12, a devastating femur break nearly ended his career, but his stubborn drive brought him back stronger, leading to contracts and opportunities that set the stage for his international racing career. By 14, he was competing in South Africa’s senior pro class against seasoned men, where intimidation and even bullying on the track taught him to toughen up and earn respect. Grant’s leap to Europe at just 15 marked a turning point. Living in poverty, facing homesickness, and struggling to qualify for races, he endured moments of despair, including breaking down emotionally at Foxhills after missing the gate. Mentorship from the legendary Harry Everts helped him rebuild with structure—breaking down tracks into sections, training with intention, and focusing on long-term growth. Slowly, results followed: an eighth-place finish in France and eventually his first GP podium and win in Germany. By 2000, his persistence paid off with a 125cc World Championship at just 18 years old. This breakthrough not only validated his sacrifices but also showed the critical influence of his father’s tough-love discipline, which had taught him to thrive under pressure. His move to America and the lessons learned during his professional career. KTM initially kept him from joining Mitch Payton’s Pro Circuit team, but his U.S. debut still proved successful, earning him wins, contracts, and recognition. Along the way, he admits to strategic mistakes, chasing qualifying times, returning from injuries too quickly, and overexerting himself when it mattered least. Reflecting on riders like Cooper Webb, Langston now values consistency and championship strategy over one-off victories. Injuries and eventually an eye tumor forced an early retirement at 25, cutting his career short while he still felt competitive.Retirement brought depression and an identity crisis, which he compares to Roger Federer’s idea that athletes “die twice.” At the same time, his marriage unraveled, but today he maintains a positive co-parenting relationship with his ex-wife, acknowledging that racing had once been the “glue” in their marriage. Business ventures like his dealership and TV work allowed him to rebuild his identity and purpose. He now prioritizes stability, family, and instilling a work ethic in his children over chasing fame or money.Coach Robb's Resources (articles, videos, etc.) about health, wellness and performance: ► https://www.coachrobb.com/ ► Resources such as the 2-Week Food Challenge, Sweat Rate Calculator, and Body Measurement Spreadsheet, click here: https://coachrobb.activehosted.com/f/25 Coach Robb's Exclusive Exercise and Recovery Products (designed by Coach Robb):► Energy Fuel (Intensity and Duration Specific Sports Drink): https://www.coachrobbstore.com/energy-fuel-products/Coach Robb's Suggested Vitamins & Minerals: ► Nutritional Frontiers Supplements (Developed and Recommended Supplements of Coach Robb) https://www.coachrobbstore.com/nutritional-bundles/Coach Robb's Snacks, Smoothies and Meal Resources:Coach Robb's Healthy Meals, Smoothies and Snack Recipe Books available in print and digital formats on Coach Robb Store and Amazon.► Healthy Meals ► Smoothie Recipes ► Snack Recipes Coach Robb's Educational Bundles:► Nutrition for Weight Loss Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/weight-loss-educational-bundle/► Nutrition for Performance Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/fueling-performance-educational-bundle/

The Vet Show Ep. 15 : Recover Like a Pro (Even with Limited Time & Resources)
Many vet athletes assume chronic exhaustion is just part of the process. Over time, they become so desensitized to fatigue that they see it as a badge of honor. But when recovery finally starts to happen—through better sleep, nutrition, or hydration—it can feel awkward or even wrong. This mindset is dangerous. True progress in performance stems from recovery, not just effort. A core takeaway for every athlete: stop equating “putting in work” with being perpetually exhausted. Train smart, not hard, and learn to value your body's internal feedback systems, including heart rate data and recovery signals. One of the biggest mistakes athletes make is training too hard on easy days. When heart rate zones are mismanaged—especially during times of external stress like poor sleep, work pressure, or family responsibilities—it becomes impossible to build the physiological systems needed for improvement. Proper aerobic training in heart rate zone 2 improves durability, while sprint-speed efforts must push the heart rate into higher zones to build anaerobic capacity. Riding or training in the wrong zone, especially when already fatigued, sabotages performance and increases injury risk. Customized training based on life realities is essential for sustainability and results.Equally important is addressing hidden energy deficits, known as RED-S (Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport). Without meeting daily calorie needs—especially after high-burn activities like motos - the body lacks the materials required to repair soft tissue, build muscle, and support immunity. The Garmin platform helps identify this mismatch using metrics like calorie burn, heart rate variability (HRV), and body battery scores. Athletes who don’t hydrate, fuel, and sleep correctly begin to spiral into poor performance, stubborn body fat, and eventual burnout. Monitoring and managing stress, sleep, hydration, and soft tissue health—using both high-end and low-cost tools—is not optional; it’s the foundation of long-term success for vet athletes.Coach Robb's Resources (articles, videos, etc.) about health, wellness and performance: ► https://www.coachrobb.com/ ► Resources such as the 2-Week Food Challenge, Sweat Rate Calculator, and Body Measurement Spreadsheet, click here: https://coachrobb.activehosted.com/f/25 Coach Robb's Exclusive Exercise and Recovery Products (designed by Coach Robb):► Energy Fuel (Intensity and Duration Specific Sports Drink): https://www.coachrobbstore.com/energy-fuel-products/Coach Robb's Suggested Vitamins & Minerals: ► Nutritional Frontiers Supplements (Developed and Recommended Supplements of Coach Robb) https://www.coachrobbstore.com/nutritional-bundles/Coach Robb's Snacks, Smoothies and Meal Resources:Coach Robb's Healthy Meals, Smoothies and Snack Recipe Books available in print and digital formats on Coach Robb Store and Amazon.► Healthy Meals ► Smoothie Recipes ► Snack Recipes Coach Robb's Educational Bundles:► Nutrition for Weight Loss Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/weight-loss-educational-bundle/► Nutrition for Performance Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/fueling-performance-educational-bundle/

Navigating Amateur Motocross - Ep. 17 How to Approach Loretta's for Optimum Results!
In Episode #17 of Navigating Amateur Motocross, I sat down with Derek Harris from HP Race Development to unpack why so many riders experience bike failures and physical breakdowns at Loretta Lynn’s. From two-stroke top ends to four-stroke timing chain failures, we discussed how casual or generic maintenance schedules simply don’t hold up under national-level intensity. When riders overlook rebuild intervals or gamble on fuel storage methods, they often end up sidelined by issues that were 100% preventable. This episode exposes the harsh reality of what happens when performance is chased without a structured prep plan, both mechanically and athletically. We also tackled the human element—especially how amateur riders and families consistently underestimate the demands of multi-day racing. Recovery isn't just about lying down between races. It's about post-moto nutrition timing, hydration science, blood sugar stabilization, and managing core temperature. We walked through how Energy Fuel plays a role in restoring glycogen and avoiding late race fatigue. The goal is sustainable performance over the course of a chaotic and unpredictable race schedule. This is where so many talented riders come up short, not from a lack of speed, but from not understanding recovery as a performance enhancer. Finally, we explored real-world strategies to overcome Loretta’s extreme environment, heat, humidity, and low air density. Small oversights like unfiltered fuel or poor jetting cost riders everything. Derek shared how simple mistakes like storing race fuel on concrete or skipping suspension rebuilds can destroy a race weekend. I emphasized that Loretta’s isn’t the time to experiment—it’s the time to execute. What you bring to that gate should already be tested, data-driven, and proven under pressure.Video Takeaways:►Schedule engine maintenance around race goals, not just hours – Two-stroke vs. four-stroke rebuild schedules differ. Know your engine, your race volume, and your intensity before heading to Loretta’s.►Filter your race gas every single time – Contaminated fuel, especially in humidity, leads to jetting issues and engine failure. Use a fuel filter funnel and store gas in sealed metal containers off the ground.►Adjust your jetting strategy for extreme humidity – Test jetting setups in race-like heat before Loretta Lynn’s. Don’t assume last month’s map will work under that air density.►Build your hydration and calorie intake plan using data – Weigh pre/post moto, calculate sweat rate, and tailor electrolytes and fluid intake to each moto’s demands, not just "drink more water."Coach Robb's Resources (articles, videos, etc.) about health, wellness and performance: ► https://www.coachrobb.com/ ► Resources such as the 2-Week Food Challenge, Sweat Rate Calculator, and Body Measurement Spreadsheet, click here: https://coachrobb.activehosted.com/f/25 Coach Robb's Exclusive Exercise and Recovery Products (designed by Coach Robb):► Energy Fuel (Intensity and Duration Specific Sports Drink): https://www.coachrobbstore.com/energy-fuel-products/Coach Robb's Suggested Vitamins & Minerals: ► Nutritional Frontiers Supplements (Developed and Recommended Supplements of Coach Robb) https://www.coachrobbstore.com/nutritional-bundles/Coach Robb's Snacks, Smoothies and Meal Resources:Coach Robb's Healthy Meals, Smoothies and Snack Recipe Books available in print and digital formats on Coach Robb Store and Amazon.► Healthy Meals ► Smoothie Recipes ► Snack Recipes Coach Robb's Educational Bundles:► Nutrition for Weight Loss Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/weight-loss-educational-bundle/► Nutrition for Performance Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/fueling-performance-educational-bundle/

Meet the Guest - Next Chapter with Ronnie Tichenor
Ronnie Tichenor motocross journey began with humble roots and an unshakable drive, shaped by a father who instilled the values of commitment, toughness, and follow-through. Growing up in a split household, Ronnie spent weekdays with his mother and weekends traveling the country to race with his father. By age 13, he moved in full-time with his dad to pursue racing, quickly rising through the amateur ranks to join Team Green and later Suzuki. At 16, he turned pro and won the East Coast 125 Supercross Championship by age 17. Despite impressive results and being part of legendary amateur development programs, Ronnie admits that starting his pro career so young—combined with low pay, relentless pressure, and a lack of physical and mental support—took a toll that still echoes today.Behind the wins, Ronnie’s career was riddled with physical injuries and untreated concussions that have led to lasting neurological effects. He recounted multiple incidents—like racing the day after a blackout-level concussion in Japan—with a then-normalized attitude of "tough it out." Years later, after emotional dysregulation and unexplainable breakdowns, Ronnie discovered that he was suffering from long-term effects of sub concussive trauma. Through the help of his sister, friends, and a neurologist in New York, he finally found a treatment protocol that has begun to restore his cognitive and emotional function. His openness about brain trauma, emotional struggles, and the lack of awareness in the sport highlights a major blind spot in motocross that he hopes to help address. Now in a new chapter of life, Ronnie reflects on his biggest accomplishments—not on the bike—but as a father, caregiver, and coach. Though he no longer coaches actively, Ronnie remains deeply introspective about the physical and emotional costs of his career. His son, now pursuing a degree in psychology, is one of his proudest legacies. Ronnie's story is not just about racing success; it's about resilience, recovery, and the importance of mental health awareness in high-impact sports. He urges current riders, families, and industry stakeholders to take concussions seriously and proactively seek help when needed. His vulnerability and raw honesty serve as a gift to the motocross community—one he hopes will prevent future athletes from enduring the same pain in silence.Coach Robb's Resources (articles, videos, etc.) about health, wellness and performance: ► https://www.coachrobb.com/ ► Resources such as the 2-Week Food Challenge, Sweat Rate Calculator, and Body Measurement Spreadsheet, click here: https://coachrobb.activehosted.com/f/25 Coach Robb's Exclusive Exercise and Recovery Products (designed by Coach Robb):► Energy Fuel (Intensity and Duration Specific Sports Drink): https://www.coachrobbstore.com/energy-fuel-products/Coach Robb's Suggested Vitamins & Minerals: ► Nutritional Frontiers Supplements (Developed and Recommended Supplements of Coach Robb) https://www.coachrobbstore.com/nutritional-bundles/Coach Robb's Snacks, Smoothies and Meal Resources:Coach Robb's Healthy Meals, Smoothies and Snack Recipe Books available in print and digital formats on Coach Robb Store and Amazon.► Healthy Meals ► Smoothie Recipes ► Snack Recipes Coach Robb's Educational Bundles:► Nutrition for Weight Loss Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/weight-loss-educational-bundle/► Nutrition for Performance Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/fueling-performance-educational-bundle/

Coach Robb: The Vet Show - Ep. 14
Many riders mistakenly believe they have more time than they do to prepare for major races like Loretta Lynn’s, Mammoth, or World Vets. Time passes quickly, and the six months required to properly build a base of aerobic conditioning, strength, and endurance can slip by unnoticed. This episode emphasized the importance of reverse engineering your race season: start by identifying weaknesses from your last race, then plan training blocks to build aerobic durability, strength, and speed in the right order. Sprint work and motos without a foundation only increase the risk of injury and burnout. It’s not about doing more—it's about doing the right things at the right time. One of the biggest mistakes vet riders make is ignoring race-specific needs like start execution and terrain simulation. A rider might qualify through a flat local track, then struggle at Loretta’s due to its heat, humidity, and deeper competition. Coach Robb emphasized the need to match your training to your race goals—not just in conditioning but in skill-specific areas like starts. Poor starts expose gaps in strength, balance, and reaction timing, especially under fatigue. Riders are encouraged to use tools like the Risk Racing start gate, track starts with a stopwatch, and build proprioceptive strength to simulate the demands of a race holeshot. Finally, a realistic weekly plan must account for real-life constraints. Riders juggling families, careers, and maintenance can't train like a factory pro. Instead of overtraining or mimicking social media influencers pushing unsustainable protocols like intermittent fasting or aggressive strength routines, Coach Robb urges riders to focus on sleep, hydration, and consistent movement. Protect ride days with quality recovery and realistic effort during the week. The goal isn’t just to survive Loretta’s or World Vets—it’s to show up fresh, functional, and confident enough to enjoy the experience and race to your potential.► Build an Aerobic & Strength Base EarlyStart at least six months ahead of your race with structured aerobic and strength cycles before layering in speed or sprint work.► Train Your Starts with PrecisionUse tools like a Risk Racing gate and stopwatch to simulate real starts. Measure your time through the first turn and refine execution.► Prepare for Race-Specific Terrain & ConditionsIf racing Loretta’s or World Vets, your training must include heat conditioning, elevation simulation, and surface variation.► Design a Weekly Plan Around Your LifeBase your training on realistic availability. Don’t stack workouts if it leads to riding fatigued - protect your weekend ride day.Coach Robb's Resources (articles, videos, etc.) about health, wellness and performance: ► https://www.coachrobb.com/ ► Resources such as the 2-Week Food Challenge, Sweat Rate Calculator, and Body Measurement Spreadsheet, click here: https://coachrobb.activehosted.com/f/25 Coach Robb's Exclusive Exercise and Recovery Products (designed by Coach Robb):► Energy Fuel (Intensity and Duration Specific Sports Drink): https://www.coachrobbstore.com/energy-fuel-products/Coach Robb's Suggested Vitamins & Minerals: ► Nutritional Frontiers Supplements (Developed and Recommended Supplements of Coach Robb) https://www.coachrobbstore.com/nutritional-bundles/Coach Robb's Snacks, Smoothies and Meal Resources:Coach Robb's Healthy Meals, Smoothies and Snack Recipe Books available in print and digital formats on Coach Robb Store and Amazon.► Healthy Meals ► Smoothie Recipes ► Snack Recipes Coach Robb's Educational Bundles:► Nutrition for Weight Loss Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/weight-loss-educational-bundle/► Nutrition for Performance Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/fueling-performance-educational-bundle/

Navigating Amateur MX Ep. 16 - Arm Pump Part 2
In Episode #16, the discussion continues on the root causes and practical solutions to arm pump, especially as riders move into the summer heat and intense regional racing. Emphasis is placed on the symbiotic relationship between the rider and the motorcycle—both must be optimized independently and together to avoid muscular overload and performance breakdown. Suspension setup, proprioceptive balance, and physical conditioning all work in tandem to help riders handle stress from rough terrain, heat, and high-pressure racing conditions. Adjustments to sag, fork height, and clickers are often overlooked but can completely transform the feel and control of the bike, directly influencing arm pump.Coach Robb explains how off-bike strength training must be tailored to the movement patterns of riding, focusing on muscle symmetry and perceptive balance. A rider with imbalances—such as leg atrophy from a previous injury—may unknowingly shift weight inconsistently, causing instability and unnecessary muscular strain. These micro-compensations result in over-gripping and eventual arm pump. On-bike fitness remains irreplaceable, but when seat time is limited due to life circumstances, off-bike training must be targeted and strategic, using tools like the Garmin dashboard to monitor recovery, HRV, body battery, and stress.Ultimately, the episode stresses the importance of predictability over perfection in both bike setup and physiological readiness. Riders often blame suspension or bike setup at critical moments, when in reality, physiological fatigue, poor sleep, hydration, and mental stress are often the underlying issues. Using Garmin data, practicing under race-like conditions, and focusing on emotional and logistical readiness ensures riders show up balanced, strong, and confident. Consistency, not extremity, wins races—and avoiding injury means being smart about volume, timing, and personal readiness!Coach Robb's Resources (articles, videos, etc.) about health, wellness and performance: ► https://www.coachrobb.com/ ► Resources such as the 2-Week Food Challenge, Sweat Rate Calculator, and Body Measurement Spreadsheet, click here: https://coachrobb.activehosted.com/f/25 Coach Robb's Exclusive Exercise and Recovery Products (designed by Coach Robb):► Energy Fuel (Intensity and Duration Specific Sports Drink): https://www.coachrobbstore.com/energy-fuel-products/Coach Robb's Suggested Vitamins & Minerals: ► Nutritional Frontiers Supplements (Developed and Recommended Supplements of Coach Robb) https://www.coachrobbstore.com/nutritional-bundles/Coach Robb's Snacks, Smoothies and Meal Resources:Coach Robb's Healthy Meals, Smoothies and Snack Recipe Books available in print and digital formats on Coach Robb Store and Amazon.► Healthy Meals ► Smoothie Recipes ► Snack Recipes Coach Robb's Educational Bundles:► Nutrition for Weight Loss Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/weight-loss-educational-bundle/► Nutrition for Performance Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/fueling-performance-educational-bundle/

Navigating Amateur Motocross - Ep. 15 - Arm Pump: Physical & Mechanical Part 1
Coach Robb Beams and Derek Harris (HP Race Development) tackle one of the most misunderstood issues in racing performance: the root cause of arm pump. Too often, parents and riders default to blaming suspension setups or motor output, but as the discussion reveals, most of these issues stem from physiological deficiencies—specifically, inadequate strength, flexibility, and aerobic capacity. Mechanical upgrades are only effective if the rider’s body is equally prepared to handle the forces involved. Without proper warm-up, hydration, fueling, and muscular pliability, even the most advanced bike setup will fall short under race-day pressure. The conversation highlights a recurring problem in amateur development: chasing short-term results at the expense of long-term potential. Robb and Derek emphasize that success at elite events like Loretta Lynn’s has more to do with adaptability, rider IQ, and consistent physiological data than horsepower or flashy parts. Race day rarely mirrors practice conditions, so riders must learn to pivot mid-moto—adjusting lines, recovering from poor starts, and staying composed through deteriorating terrain. Metrics like lap-time variance, heart rate thresholds, and throttle consistency are far more telling than finishes alone, and should guide both rider development and parental expectations.Ultimately, this episode reinforces that peak performance isn’t accidental—it’s built. Real progress demands a holistic blueprint: mechanical development must mirror physiological maturity, and both should evolve based on data. Parents are encouraged to audit their child’s program by asking “why” behind every training or equipment decision. If the answer doesn’t hold up to scrutiny, it’s time to reevaluate. True success comes from building durable, adaptable athletes who can handle adversity—physically, mentally, and mechanically—under the most demanding race conditions.Coach Robb's Resources (articles, videos, etc.) about health, wellness and performance: ► https://www.coachrobb.com/ ► Resources such as the 2-Week Food Challenge, Sweat Rate Calculator, and Body Measurement Spreadsheet, click here: https://coachrobb.activehosted.com/f/25 Coach Robb's Exclusive Exercise and Recovery Products (designed by Coach Robb):► Energy Fuel (Intensity and Duration Specific Sports Drink): https://www.coachrobbstore.com/energy-fuel-products/Coach Robb's Suggested Vitamins & Minerals: ► Nutritional Frontiers Supplements (Developed and Recommended Supplements of Coach Robb) https://www.coachrobbstore.com/nutritional-bundles/Coach Robb's Snacks, Smoothies and Meal Resources:Coach Robb's Healthy Meals, Smoothies and Snack Recipe Books available in print and digital formats on Coach Robb Store and Amazon.► Healthy Meals ► Smoothie Recipes ► Snack Recipes Coach Robb's Educational Bundles:► Nutrition for Weight Loss Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/weight-loss-educational-bundle/► Nutrition for Performance Educational Bundle https://www.coachrobbstore.com/product/fueling-performance-educational-bundle/
