Robeson discusses a number of topics, including the ongoing need for volunteer firefighters. Robeson, who has served with Lander Rural Fire for more than six years, says more than 80% of fire departments nationwide are staffed by volunteers, including nearly 89% in Wyoming, and that volunteer firefighter numbers have dropped by 23% over the past 15 years while fire department calls have more than doubled since 2000. (Fremont County, WY)- The County 10 podcast is on the scene visiting Central Wyoming College to learn how CWC is helping new and returning students take the next step toward college. Rachel Hofer, Director of Admissions, and Kylan Shultz, enrollment advisor and success coach, share details about CWC’s summer access events. After Hours is held one Monday each month, with the final event scheduled for August 17 from 5–7 p.m. Saturday Success events will take place July 25 and August 15 from 11 a.m.–2 p.m. During these drop-in events, students can visit Rustler Central for help with admissions, financial aid, registration and other questions. Rustler Central serves as the primary starting point for new students, with additional resources available at cwc.edu/rustler-central. Kylan also explains how success coaching is tailored to meet the needs of both traditional students and adults returning to school. The conversation highlights the Restart Award, which may cover tuition and fees for eligible adult learners age 24 or older who are beginning college or returning after at least two years away. The award can be used for courses ranging from one to three credits. Fall classes begin August 24. Students can get started by completing CWC’s free online application.

(Lander, WY) – Lander Valley High School’s Adelyn Anderson has already accomplished more than most athletes will in a lifetime. To name a few of those achievements, she’s a two-time Gatorade Girls Track and Field Athlete of the Year winner. A three-time state champion. She owns both school records for discuss and shot put. She has the longest shot put throw, of any female, in state history. She has multiple individual indoor track championships. Oh, and by the way, she graduated from high school with honors this spring. A GPA most of us didn’t think was possible to attain, a 4.39. The all-around Lander Valley star is on to Wisconsin this fall. She’ll throw and study mechanical engineering at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. (Riverton, WY) – After a wild and successful conclusion to the Babe Ruth Baseball State Tournament in Gillette, the Riverton 14U squad earned the opportunity to continue their summertime fun. Riverton finsihed their state run against the same Cheyenne team that had defeated them in last year’s championship game and had gotten the better of them earlier in 2026 pool-play. After playing five games in three days, neither team had many pitching options remaining. The scoreboard in the title game made that no secret. Riverton 25 Cheyenne 23. A championship and some revenge for the kids from the Rendezvous City. Head Coach Casey Parker and his athletes now prepare to head to Meridian, Idaho July 19-22 for the Pacific Northwest Regional Tournament. They’ll play against champs from Montana, Idaho, Oregon, Washington, British Columbia and Alberta, Canada. County 10 extended an invitation for the entire team to come join us for some interview fun. We had the chance to visit with Coach Parker as well as athletes; Garrett Parker, Zander Weliver, Tracen Barton, Collin Thompson and Braxton Blumenshine. (Fremont County, WY)- In this County 10 Podcast episode you hear from with Tim Nichols of WRTA about the agency’s Fare Free Summer and what it means for riders across Fremont County. The program began June 1 and, thanks to corporate sponsorships and private donations, will continue through the end of August. Nichols explains how WRTA serves the county through a fixed-route 96-mile loop running seven times daily, along with on-demand microtransit in Riverton. Riders can access WRTA by calling 856-WRTA or finding more information at gowrta.com. The conversation also covers rising transportation costs, increased ridership during the fare-free period, and how even a small fare can be a barrier for people on fixed incomes. Nichols also addresses recent state and federal funding reductions connected to expired post-pandemic relief funds, as well as an upcoming three-quarter percent sales tax ballot measure that would support local ground transportation, air services, and ambulance services. Nichols shares that WRTA is a government-operated public transit authority under the Fremont County Association of Government and encourages the public to ask questions, request transparency, and learn more about how the system serves Fremont County.

(Lander, WY) – The KOVE 1330 AM / 107.7 FM Today in the 10 interview series Coffee Time continued today with host Vince Tropea, who recently spoke with Hudson Mayor Sherry Oler, who stopped by to chat about the water and sewer utility rate increases that go into effect for the town starting today, July 1. The water and sewer rates will go up $5 each a month, $10 total, for Hudson residents. Mayor Oler said the town has struggled for years with complaints about the taste and quality of its drinking water, despite the water meeting safety standards. After taking office, Mayor Oler requested a Level 1 water study through the Wyoming Water Development Commission, which was completed in 2025. The study identified why Hudson’s water treatment system is expensive to operate and recommended several potential long-term solutions, including exploring a new water source and the possibility of regionalizing water service. A Level 2 study is now underway to look at those options and provide residents with information before any long-term decisions are made. At the same time, the town has faced serious wastewater infrastructure concerns, Mayor Oler explained, adding that Hudson narrowly avoided major failures at its sewer lift station in both 2023 and 2024, including one incident in which a pump nearly failed completely and forced the town to notify the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality. The town has since secured a free pre-engineering report, presented during a public meeting in April, which estimates that approximately $5.8 million in wastewater system improvements are needed. With only about 277 utility customers, the cost of those projects presents a significant financial challenge, Mayor Oler said, adding that under Wyoming statute, municipal water and wastewater utilities must be self-supporting, meaning user rates must cover operating costs, maintenance, employee salaries, and future repairs in a reserve fund. Mayor Oler said demonstrating that Hudson is making progress toward financial sustainability is also critical to receiving state loans and grants, some of which are scored partly on a community’s willingness to invest in its own infrastructure. To help meet those requirements, the Hudson Town Council approved the rate increase, and the council also approved annual increases at the same level over the next four years, a strategy Mayor Oler said is intended to gradually build the utility funds rather than implementing the much steeper increases recommended by two independent rate studies. (Riverton, WY) – For Riverton’s young soccer community it was a full, action-packed week of new skills, competing in games, learning about different places all across the globe and having a ton of fun along the way. Photo: Rachel Mejorado The annual Challenger Sports Soccer Camp returned to Rein Park June 8-12. This year, Fremont County aspiring athletes had the chance to learn from Coaches Tom Monks of Wales and Steven Gray of Scotland. The duo taught ball handling, shooting and passing technique. A “World Cup-style” tournament was held (Congratulations Team Portugal!,) athletes competed individually each day to be camp MVP. What’s more, local youth had the chance to hear about other places all around the globe. They constructed flags from different countries, made their own World Cup trophies, decorated their own personal soccer balls and capped the full week off with a massive water fight! Shaun was most recently the Head Men’s Basketball Coach and Athletic Director at Four Winds University in South Dakota. An accomplished high school coach, he led seven teams to state championships between 2003 and 2014. Little Horn discussed why he decided to take the Lady Wolverines job, his expectations for the upcoming season and his well decorated basketball history.
