Talking with Ansel Crindland, surviving founder of The Temptations. He told me about growing up without a father in Westmoreland, Jamaica, starting as a solo singer and then forming his first group. That paved the way to becoming the leader of The Meditations who were in demand for their distinctive 3-part harmonies, which in turn caught the ear of Bob Marley. We also talked about his song writing and what inspired him along the way of his 50+ year career. Reggae legend Clinton Fearon talks wit us about growing up near  Kingston, Jamaica and getting his first inspiration to be a musician after hearing the Skatalites. He made his own guitar and by the age of 18 was performing with the Gladiators. At the end of a US tour he visited the Seattle area and decided to stay, where he live now. Juanito Pascual was introduced to flamenco guitar while in high school on a trip to Spain. While studying classical guitar at New England Conservatory, he formed the Juanito Pascual Trio, but carried on his earlier passion for the music of the guitar greats of the 1960s.The idea of interpreting Jimi Hendrix's compositions in the flamenco style led to this latest project which he brought to a night at The Cut. New England-based band Neighbor has grown an eager army of fans--calling themselves "Neighbors"--by putting out infectious, multi-genre songs that attract crowds wherever they play. Lead singer and keyboardist Ricky James talks with us about falling in love with playing the organ at the age of three, and how he and his bandmates grew their passion for playing live into the musical powerhouse they are now. Boston Filmmaker Vinnie Straggas recently screened his film here at The Cut about the the 1970s and 1980s Boston music scene, “Life on The Other Planet.” After the screening, Vinnie joined in a Q and A with musicians Brad Halen and Steve Cataldo of the Nervous Eaters, along with Willie Alexander, Fred Pineau and Thomas Hauck—All live on stage at The Cut.

Sean Kelly tells us about going from high school drop out to playing at the White House. The Irish band Altan has been bringing the music of Donegal to these shores for over 40 years, and the changing lineup of musicians always keep their shows fresh. We talked with founder, singer and fiddle player Mairéad Ni Mhaonaigh about her growing up in a musical family. She speaks about Altan's mission to bring a fresh take on traditional Irish music to world audiences, and how some at the time tried to discourage the band from singing in Gaelic. Quinn Sullivan's first visit to The Cut sent a packed house the high energy tunes he's been writing and playing since a very early age.
