Episode 316 | "Xbox Logo-gate and we played Modern Warfare 4"

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 is here, and we've played it. The SteamDeck's price is skyrocketing, and everyone is afraid of Asha Sharma's latest internal memos. Join Nick, Jesse, and Aarsal in The DayOne Show Episode 316! It's been a busy week in games as well as news, so there's plenty to talk about on this episode. With Jon out at UK Games Expo for Console Wars the Card Game, Nick, Jesse and Aarsal get together to chat about the latest goings on.First up it's Aarsal's time in the spotlight with his thoughts on Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 after this time with Infinity Ward while out on assignment. You can read his thoughts on the campaign and the multiplayer. We've all been playing 007 First Light, and are having a thoroughly great time with what feels like a real Game of the Year contender! Jesse's also got a double bill of video game reviews this week, after tackling the excellent Mina the Hollower and the improved-on-the-original Echo Generation 2. Beyond that, Nick has been playing Yoshi and the Mysterious Book and shares his thoughts on the latest Nintendo Switch 2 release. When it comes to news topics, we're not short on things to discuss this week on DayOne. Fable has been delayed to February 2027, and Xbox fans are up in arms when it comes to Xbox displaying their competitors logos on trailers at the Xbox Showcase next week. Valve's SteamDeck handheld got a shocking price increase, and has many gamers questioning if the Steam Machine will even release considering the issues facing supply for memory and storage for these sorts of devices. All this and more in the DayOne Show Episode 316.

    Episode 315 | "Bungie's Destiny"

From live Forza Shows to incredible video games, it's been another busy week, and the start of a marathon! Let's talk about all the weeks happenings in The DayOne Show Episode 315!We've been enjoying Forza Horizon 6 along with everyone else this week in what has been a quieter week in terms of video games releases overall. LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is out, and while a late review may be on the cards, we're all just enjoying the game - it's excellent. We do have a review of recent Game Pass addition Luna Abyss up on the site for folks that are interested - just head here. Where the week hasn't been so quiet is in video game news! We divert off on to a tangent about stealth games and how the mechanics aren't really about realistic stealth before diving into the latest headlines.Sony have announced a new State of Play, and they're inviting journalists and pundits to come and sit in a room to watch it, so it certainly sounds like it might be a big one. And thank goodness this positive news arrived when it did, because Bungie have announced the end of Destiny 2 support, with Bloomberg reporting that lay-offs at the legendary studio are imminent. Poor Bungie. Oh, and because there's never enough money to go around, the price of PlayStation Plus subscriptions is going up. Oof.Elsewhere, Xbox leadership changes continue with a couple of new hires, and a brand new Xbox Game Studios shop is now online. Following the capitlisation of XBOX, fans are now wondering what the next generation of Xbox hardware is going to be called. Will Asha ask the community to name it (We hope not)?Lastly, we did see a surprising leak of some new Virtua Fighter footage which looks utterly fantastic, and SEGA even teased something for Crazy Taxi. With showcase season fast approaching, we can't wait to see all the new games over the next few weeks. All this, plus your community questions, so jump in!

    Episode 314 | New Xbox Controllers, GTA6 Pre-orders and FH6

Two big games launched this week, and there's plenty of news to talk about. Let's get into things in The DayOne Show Episode 314!We kick off the show talking about a bunch of the games we've been playing this week! The biggest of course is Forza Horizon 6, which is as incredible as you were probably hoping it to be. We've also been diving into titles like Directive 8020, Subnautica 2, Call of the Elder Gods, Outbound and the very surprisingly addictive Black Jacket - which we thoroughly recommend. There's a bunch of news topics to dig into this week. We've attended a real life Forza Horizon festival, and we've seen Forza Horizon 6 already pull in over 1 Million Players in it's Premium Access Launch. Grand Theft Auto 6 has made headlines thanks to some pre-order affiliate emails going out from Best Buy, suggesting that pre-orders for the game will open on May 18th.Xbox made a few headlines, with a disc-to-digital program on the cards and plenty of controller leaks from a new Cloud-gaming controller to the Elite Series 3. Episode 313 | "Suddenly, Starfox Returned"

An absolutely bonkers week in video games! Outside of some fantastic game releases, there's plenty of news from all three platform holders to dig into in The DayOne Show Episode 313!As per usual, we kick off the show talking about all the different games we've played this week, and where better to start than with the fantastic Mixtape! It's one of the best games of the year, and we awarded top marks. Despite the positive reception, Twitter has been perfectly normal about it, so that's nice to see.We also covered narrative adventure game 'WILL: Follow the Light' that puts you in the shoes of a lighthouse keeper who sets off in search of his family. It looks pretty enough, but it didn't quite stick the landing, which is a shame. It's certainly been very musically themed this week, and Early Access release Dead as Disco is definitely on it's way to being a smash hit. You play as Charlie Disco, back from the dead and seeking out his former band mates to find out just why he died in the first place, and whether they had anything to do with it. How is that achieved? With awesome showdown battles across different genres of music as you fight to the beat. Very cool! There's other games to check out of course - our review for Wax Heads is available, putting you in the shoes of a record store owner as you manage customers and relationships or Priest Simulator: Vampire Show which is, well... pretty bonkers. There's a little something for everyone when it comes to news this week! On the Xbox side of the fence, more leadership changes rolled out. While many saw CoreAI staff move into the Xbox camp, Xbox CEO Asha Sharma also straight up cancelled 'Copilot for Gaming'. So that's good! Elsewhere, Call of Duty confirmed that the next release in the franchise will not be releasing on PlayStation 4, and presumably Xbox One, meaning that the first person shooter series will finally be leaving last-gen consoles behind. We also saw Game Pass announce their first wave of games for May and they put on a great show for Stranger Than Heaven, which has all of us interested in playing it.PlayStation released their latest financial quarterly results, with a large writedown for legendary studio Bungie, which is a bit embarassing. They're also 'all in' on AI, so it has been a little fun seeing the mental gymnastics on display to excuse that one away. On the Nintendo front, the Japanese giant had an amazing financial result, but still put up the price of the Nintendo Switch 2 - though they are giving everyone outside of Japan until September before the price increase kicks in. They also surprised everyone with a short notice Starfox Nintendo Direct. Loads more on top of this, so come hang out with the lads in The DayOne Show Episode 313!

Episode 312 | "We have a PlayStation for you"

Lots to talk about this week! From PlayStation's DRM drama to a ton of pretty decent video game releases, there's plenty to enjoy and discuss this week. Join the lads once again for The DayOne Show Episode 312!As always, we kick off the show talking about all the wonderful video games we've been playing. Jesse has reviewed PlayStation's 'Saros' from the team at Housemarque and thoroughly enjoyed it. He also played through a cute pixel-art adventure 'The Last Gas Station', which had plenty of secrets to uncover. We also released a review for DON'T NODS 'Aphelion', a sci-fi story that we really enjoyed. Alas, it got a bit of a kicking review wise, but it's on Game Pass so give it a shot. The addiction is also real when it comes to 'TerraTech Legion', another Game Pass release reviewed by Gyozo, with a unique vehicular twist on the survivors-like formula.Even Nick has been hard at work with reviews this week, releasing his final verdict on fighting game INVINCIBLE VS, which surprise, he really enjoyed and was very positive on overall. There's been a lot of news this week to dig into, and we dive into all the big topics of the week. PlayStation's DRM drama was front and centre, as we dig into the timeline of events, fan theories and Sony's statement on the situation. Was it a big 'nothing-burger'? You decide! Oh, and there's been another price rise on PlayStation hardware in a new region this week too. Oof.Elsewhere, we've got the new Resident Evil movie trailer, and we all agree - it looks like a good horror film. Jury's out on how 'Resident Evil' it is! On the Xbox front, financial reports are in, and yep - they're down again. They expect to be down the next time too. Asha has a lot of work to do. Lastly, aside from some Star Wars Fortnite news, we dig into all the amazing games ahead of us for the month of May, and there is a lot to look forward too! Lots more discussion besides, along with our Member's community questions, answered live on the show. If you love what we do, the best way to support us is to become a DayOne Member. Episode 311 | "A New 'Xbox Era'?"

Is Xbox 'back'? The new CEO hasn't been around long, but she certainly appears to be making changes and updates at break-neck speed. Is she hell bent on restoring the Xbox brand to its former glory? We talk through all the big news this week in The DayOne Show Episode 311! As always, we begin the show with a look at the things most important to the team - video games! On that front, it's been another stellar week with some great releases for gamers to get really stuck into.Jesse took an extended look at what awaits Diablo fans in Lord of Hatred, a new expansion that drops next week, which he thoroughly enjoyed. He also has been checking out a trippy looking title called Tamashika, which is available now and looks kinda nuts! There's a Members Exclusive video available now if you want to take a look for yourself.Nick has continued his journey with Diana and Hugh in Capcom's fantastic Pragmata, and upon discovering there's a Amiibo available of the small android, immediately went ahead and bought it (because of course he did!)In my case, I've actually been dabbling in a ton of games throughout the course of this week. First up, I dropped my review of Tides of Tomorrow, out now on PC and consoles. It's a narrative adventure set in a dying world, and fans of the developer's previous work, Road 96, may want to take a look. I've also dabbled in Kiln, the super cool world of Dead as Disco, the addictive madness that is Vampire Crawlers, and a little indie delight called Oblitacrator. The lions share of my game time this week however has been with an upcoming Game Pass release, TerraTech Legion, a new bullet hell 'survivors-like' that sees you building and customising your vehicle on the fly to maximise damage output. It is pretty neat so far, and members can check our exclusive 45 minute deep dive video if they'd like a closer look before launch! Oh, and I also reviewed the new RIG R8 Spectre Pro HX - a new wireless gaming headset and basestation, available now and well worth a look! What a week! Outside of all our usual news coverage, it was Xbox once again driving headlines this week. First of all, we had the surprise reveal of a price drop for Xbox Game Pass and the removal of Call of Duty as a Day One release for future titles, instead coming along the following holiday. Then, a further blog post later in the week, penned by Xbox CEO Asha Sharma and CCO Matt Booty revealed the great news that 'Microsoft Gaming' is dead, as they laid out their master plan to bring Xbox back to its former glory. Naturally, Xbox dominates the discussion this week. One other noteworthy item? Ubisoft finally revealed Assassin's Creed: Black Flag Resynced and it looks fantastic (I am very excited). All this and more, along with your community questions in the DayOne Show Episode 311!

Episode 310 | Metro 2039 is Lookin' Fine!

In terms of news, it's been kind of a quiet week. But in terms of video games? It's been incredible! We talk through plenty of the latest releases, and cover the latest topics the industry has generated! It's the DayOne Show Episode 310!Where to start? Well, let's kick things off with our review of REPLACED, a new cyberpunk 2.5D action side scroller with an old school pixel art-style that is absolutely stunning in motion. It's got a few rough edges, but it's finally out on Xbox, PC and Game Pass.Jesse swooped in this week with not one but two reviews for the other big games dropping this week for players. First up, we have Capcom's latest IP, the utterly gorgeous Pragmata, which is out now on consoles and PC. Suffice to say, we're really loving it, and Jesse gave it a lot of high praise.Jesse also really enjoyed MOUSE: P.I. For Hire, a new black and white noir-cartoon boomer shooter that's surprisingly deep. It's quirky, funny and full of cheese - and that's just the great jokes! You can check out his review right here. Beyond that, we've also all been playing a bunch of Gunboat God, a gorgeous side scrolling shooter with a unique art style. The lovely Aarsal has released his review on Hades 2 which is now available on Xbox, PlayStation and Game Pass. We've got a new Members Only look at Minos, and there's a preview for a new quirky puzzle game called Yerba Buena, which lets you apply different properties to the game environment. It's pretty clever! Outside of all the games we've been playing, there has been a few news topics to dive into this week. Xbox came into the headlines thanks to a new report from The Verge that leaked an internal memo. Here, Asha Sharma shared that she felt Game Pass was 'too expensive', and suggests it's being revisited. Not only that, a later report suggests that even a 1st party only game pass tier is possibly on the cards.Elsewhere, Matt Booty appeared on the Official Xbox Podcast to talk about the Xbox June Showcase, internal team co-operation and that the Gears of War E:Day Direct is thirty minutes long, which is exciting to hear. Oh, and the Gears of War movie at Netflix is officially happening, so that's nice. We also got afirst look at Metro 2039 from 4A Games, and it looks horrific (and pretty!).Tons more besides, so jump in and enjoy the show! A quieter week in video games, but that doesn't stop us getting together to chat about everything that's gone down this week in the DayOne Show Episode 309!Before we dig into the news, we've sure been playing a lot of video games, and kicked things off this week with a review of People of Note, which I didn't really enjoy. For our members, there's a special 45 minutes extended look, if you're keen.Jesse released his review for Samson, which unfortunately launched in a pretty rough state, at least according to his review of this new mini-open world crime game.In news, it was unusually quiet, but we still got to dive into a number of topics, from State of Decay 3 and it's newly announced Alpha tests and the apparent release date leak for Halo Campaign Evolved. Before we dig into the new, we of course have to touch on all the fantastic video games we've been playing! I reviewed Darwin's Paradox!, a new puzzle platformer from ZDT Studios and Konami. I've also been checking out smaller title like Raccoin and Gunboat God and I'm previewing Forza Horizon 6 - more on that next week!Nick played and reviewed Super Meat Boy 3D, which has been a fun and incredibly frustrating time. Jesse reviewed and was subsequently delighted by the fantastic metroidvania Grime II, which is available now if you want to check it out. We also want to extend a big thank you to the community and everyone that joined us for our DayOne Spring Subathon, which saw us make a significant dent in our fundraising goals for the year, and a ton of new members via our new site memberships. Episode 307 | Xbox Partner Preview Breakdown

When it comes time to write these shows up every Sunday, I feel like it's a miracle when it's been a quiet week - but not this time! Once again, the games industry is moving fast! We've got the Xbox Partner Preview, a more expensive PlayStation and a brand new Starfox game to discuss! All this and more in the DayOne Show, Episode 307!As always, we kick off the show talking video games, and Screamer kicked things off to start the week with a surprisingly refreshing take on an arcade racer - though not all of the panel agreed the direction Milestone took was the right one.Elsewhere, the team checked out Absolum, a gorgeous side-scroller roguellite beat'em up from Dotemu, along with Easy Delivery Co a short, quirky adventure with PS1 style graphics. Both are available on now on Xbox Game Pass. We've also been playing lots of games we can't quite talk about yet, but we can assure you there are a fair number of reviews dropping this coming week for lots of video games. One we can talk about is Ghost of Yotei, which Jesse's been playing on his brand new PlayStation 5 Pro because he makes reckless financial decisions...or does he?As it turns out, perhaps now was the time to pick one up, as Sony announced another price increase for the family of PlayStation 5 devices - including the Pro and Portal - and they shut down another studio too. Following a surprise Minecraft Dungeons 2 announcement on last week, Xbox have had their Partner Preview, and wowed us with 19 games, 14 of which are going to be day one on Xbox Game Pass - the list includes some serious heavy hitters, from RGG Studio's new IP, 'Stranger Than Heaven', Owlcat's 'The Expanse: Osiris Reborn' and Xbox releases for things like Hades 2 and Dispatch. Epic Games made headlines this week when they laid off over a thousand employees, due to what they called a 'declining' Fortnite player base and Nintendo not only reportedly cut back on Switch 2 production, but also raised physical prices in the US to match the rest of the world. Don't worry, no-one will stay mad for long - they're reportedly making a new Starfox game and a Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake. All this and more of course, in The DayOne Show Episode 307!

    Episode 306 | DLSS Yasssss!

Another week, another deluge of awesome video games and hot topics to discuss. From big releases like Crimson Desert to the 'Yassification' of all our video games, we get into all the drama in the DayOne Show Episode 306!We're joined this week by the lovely MVG, who once again joins the panel to talk about the latest goings on. First up, video games! Jesse finally released his Crimson Desert review, and the game is now out for everyone worldwide - though there are a host of issues and hiccups folks are assuredly contending with. I've released a lengthy preview for Capcom's Pragmata, taking on New York in a couple of hours of gameplay while I was at GDC earlier this month. MVG has been enjoying Resident Evil Reqiuem - he's on his third playthrough - and Nick is...playing Fortnite. In news, we kick things off with the discussion around Xbox One, and how the big console from 2013 has finally been hacked - only took 13 years! We also get MVG's take on Project Helix and the challenges Microsoft face in making that hybrid system a reality.Other big topics this week are a of course the 'Yassification' of all our video games thanks to NVIDIA DLSS 5,. which was shown off this week. It earned a fair amount of criticism - with content creators coming under fire. The gaming community was also up in arms about whether it's good or bad. Other big news topics saw Starfield finally come to PS5, so I'm collecting my flowers. We have a preview of both the Free Lanes and Terran Armada updates, if you're keen.Krafton are back in the news, with a judge siding with the then fired CEO and reinstating him. Definitely one of the crazier stories this week. Xbox Game Pass have announced their second wave for March, with Absolum coming for Ultimate subscribers. Xbox also announced new features for console users, and hell - there's a bunch of other things we disc

    Episode 305 | "It's Time to Go Back...wards Compatible"

What a week it's been! Between some great game releases and more than a few glimpses at the next generation of Xbox consoles, the crew return to break it all down and hopefully have some fun along the way. It's the DayOne Show Episode 305!While the crew have been busy covering the industry, I've returned from a fantastic trip to GDC, where I've caught up with developers and publishers, in addition to checking out a whole heap of games. Suffice to say, I've got plenty of previews to write! In terms of games, I've reviewed Toxic Commando, which is out now and is pretty good if somewhat stupid fun for your multiplayer crew, if such things take your fancy. Jesse is hard at work playing through Crimson Desert, which you can expect to see more on later this week. Nick is still ploughing through Resident Evil Requiem, and he's having a very good time doing so.Beyond all those wonderful games, GDC and Xbox's new hardware, codenamed 'Project Helix' has been the hot topic of discussion. The wizard that is the lovely Jason Ronald took to the stage for the keynote speech, as Xbox lifted the lid on their vision for what's next - a new Xbox console that plays all your existing Xbox content, as well as all your PC games. Is this as good as it sounds? We'll have to wait to find out. We managed to snag a video of the talk, because we're good like that. In other news, the team chatted through other hot topics, be it the Xbox faithful longing to see the return of exclusive content and whether this new machine is a PC or a console or if it really matters at all. Backwards compatibility also came back as a topic, as Xbox tease more to come, and dedicated Xbox fans start a website to allow the community to vote on the games we all want to see return. We also tackle all your community questions, as well as have some fun at deciding the new name for the next generation Xbox. Tune in, have fun and as always, thank you for supporting us directly.

Episode 304 | "Project Helix is Revealed!"

What was perhaps going to be an uneventful week, instead became a little more dramatic. A new report from Bloomberg's Jason Schrier suggested PlayStation have decided to 'pull back' from PC releases for their tentpole first party games, which has caused a fair bit of discussion. Perhaps not wanting to be left out, Microsoft Gaming CEO Asha Sharma casually revealed Project Helix, the next generation of Xbox hardware. All this and more in the DayOne Show Episode 304 with special guest Rand Al Thor 19!I'm out this week, so I'm hastily putting together the podcast episode before I head off to the airport to attend GDC. But for now you can check out all the latest video game reviews from us, and many of them are discussed on the show. This week saw Planet of Lana II release on all platforms, which I reviewed. For some bonus content, I sat down with the developers at Wishfully for a spoiler filled chat. Jesse reviewed WWE 2K26, which is out now, and previewed Mouse P.I For Hire, which is coming next month. Nick took a spin on Scott Pilgrim EX for his latest review. Kat reviewed Vampire Therapist, which is finally releasing on Xbox and Gyozo took iRacing Arcade for a spin. And of course, everyone (except me!) has been playing Resident Evil Requiem.Outside of all the games we've been playing, it's fair to say that news has really been focused on two major topics this week. Firstly, the report from Bloomberg on Sony's change of direction for their relationship with PC releases, as they reportedly 'pull back' from releasing their big games on PC - outside of live service and multiplayer games. Not to be one-upped in taking their share of the headlines, the new Microsoft Gaming CEO Asha Sharma had a little something to share before GDC kicked off next week. Project Helix is the name of the next-generation of Xbox hardware, and it will play your Xbox console games...and PC games too! In other news, Highguard is shutting down on March 12th, which is a sad end for the game and the studio, and despite reports to the contrary, Valve recommit to shipping the Steam Machine at some point this year. Plenty of conversation, laughter and gaming chit chat, as well as your community questions, so as always - jump in!

Episode 303 | "Xbox Enters A New Era"

When it comes to video games, we all know it's very serious business. And that's absolutely still the case this week, as we see the release of yet more cool video games to play, and some in-fighting among the remnants of what remain of video game media. We're here to talk about it all in the DayOne Show Episode 303!Lots to talk about this week, but as always, we simply have to start with what really matters - video games! This week saw the release of what many are proclaiming to be one of the best in the series - Resident Evil Requiem is here, and Jesse loved it, and Nick is scared of it. We also saw the 1.0 release of Stoic's Towerborne, now available as a finished product across Steam, PlayStation 5 and of course, Xbox - including Game Pass Ultimate. We also spoke to Stoic about that journey, and just why they turned away from the original plan of a live-service, free-to-play side scrolling brawler. Speaking of Game Pass, Jesse also took a look at Dice A Million, which is available on Game Pass PC. Gyozo has shared his impressions on Season 2 of Black Ops 7, and Genghis dived in everything Steam Next Fest. We had a ganders at the demo of Vampire Crawlers, there's a WWE 2K26 Preview to enjoy, a review of Pools on Nintendo Switch 2, Rayman: 30th Anniversary edition and games like Tales of Berseria and Super Bomberman Collection too. Phew! We've been busy! But hey! Enough about all that cool fun stuff - there's been plenty of industry happenings this week. Our friend Jez Corden of Windows Central interviewed the new Microsoft Gaming CEO Asha Sharma, and it seems plenty of folks across the games media side of the industry had plenty to say about it, and some of it just wasn't very nice, nor particularly professional (Brace yourself for a few rants from the team and general commentary on discussion on this industry and what it's like being a small, independent outlet in this space). In other news, we chat about the rumor-mill surrounding both Xbox's new strategy, and Jason Schrier's comments on PlayStation 'backing away' from PC ports of their biggest games. Insider Gaming announced a really cool showcase happening later this year, we got a first look at the God of War TV Show and Netflix backed away from acquiring Warner Bros, as Paramount emerges victorious. All this and more, so enjoy the show!

Episode 302 | "Phil did WHAT?!

While we're only two months into 2026, it's already been a crazy year, and this week brought with it some absolute bombshells that shook the video game industry. Join the crew as we break it all down in the The DayOne Show Episode 302! This week, the news is nothing if not seismic! Before we get to all the industry happenings, we have to acknowledge all the lovely video games we've been playing this week! On the review front, Jesse tackled the newly released God of War: Sons of Sparta before heading off to a WWE event. You can find this thoughts on this new PlayStation metroidvania right here. Beyond indulging his usual obsession with both Fortnite and Rocket League, Nick's also been playing the new God of War, in addition to getting thoroughly stuck in with Mario Tennis Fever and BlazeBlue Entropy Effect X, the latter of which is available right now on Game Pass. I am working on several reviews at the moment, so can't talk just yet about what I've been playing on that front, but I did release my hands-on preview for DON'T NOD's Aphelion, and have been thoroughly enjoying High on Life 2. I also released my review for Razer's Premium PlayStation controller, the Raiju V3 Pro. Site wise, we're delighted to announce the new website design for playday.one is now live - we'd love your feedback, so give us a shout and let us know what you think on our forums in this thread. From the team, you can enjoy several pieces of new content, from hands on previews on Milestone's Screamer (alongside an interview) and NTE: Neverness to Everness. On the news front, and certainly the big topics of discussion this week were some of the craziest occurences in the industry that we've seen in some time. The first was Sony's shocking announcement that saw the closure of beloved studio Bluepoint Games, known for their incredible work on remakes of Demon's Souls, and of course the minor miracle that was Titanfall on the Xbox 360.Not to be outdone with being the continued focus of the gaming industry's scorn and general derision, Microsoft decided they just had to up the ante. On Friday, they dropped the bombshell - Phil Spencer, after 38 years at Microsoft is retiring, and his replacement is newcomer Asha Sharma, a Microsoft internal promotion from the CoreAI team. Perhaps more shockingly, the announcement saw Sarah Bond, Xbox President leave the business entirely, and Matt Booty getting a promotion to EVP and Chief Content Officer. Crazy times. We break it all down, in addition to taking all of your community questions and thoughts live in The DayOne Show Episode 302!

Episode 301 | "This is the New State of Play"

It's a new look, and a new week to talk about video games - and there sure are a lot of them on the way! I'm aware we're cheating the count a little here, but this is the DayOne Podcast Episode 301!This week, I've been at DICE in Las Vegas but we've still managed to play plenty and of course bring you all the latest reviews. I checked out REANIMAL, which is a mesmerizing experience, so much so that I had to reach out to the developers for a chat once I'd rolled credits. Jesse was hard at work on the review for High on Life 2, which we've all been playing once it launched into Xbox Game Pass.Elsewhere in gaming news, we announced a big rebrand, which saw most folks take the news pretty well. Gyozo went to London to go hand on with Milestone's new racer Screamer, which had a big gameplay overview reveal. The biggest news was of course, Sony's new State of Play which saw a bevvy of cool game announcements and updates. All of this, plus your community questions in the DayOne Podcast Episode 301! Jez proudly stops the show so he can show off his Fallout 4 settlement. Square Enix rumours are swirling ahead of a January Developer Direct, and we chat technical issues around Xbox performance quirks with the recent discussion that excessive friends lists and messages can cause performance issues. Episode 288 | "GabeCube"

After a rare break from the show, we are back! To be honest, a lot has happened since we last broadcast - and it happens to be Xbox's birthday. So buckle up for a long show, as we talk Valve's new hardware, game delays and the latest in video game reviews in the XboxEra Podcast Episode 288!It's been a crazy couple of weeks. We've reviewed plenty of video games, big and small in that time, from the cosy survival delights of Winter Burrow, to the curious metroidvania-meets-Satisfactory trappings of Kentum. Nick tackled Double Dragon Revive in a somewhat late review, and Jesse and Jon took a look at Game Pass offerings of Pigeon Simulator and Egging On. The team at XboxEra looked at even more than that, so make sure you head to our reviews page for a good browse. The biggest of course, being our massive complete review for this years Call of Duty outing, Black Ops 7. Beyond a very silly campaign, there's a ton of content here, and according to our internal Call of Duty expert, it's one of the best overall releases in ages. In what is now very old news, we saw GTA6 delayed, to the surprise of absolutely no-one. What did sort of surprise everyone was Valve's announcement of a new Steam Machine, VR headset and controller. Even though some of them have leaked previously, it didn't stop the industry from declaring once again that Xbox, was of course, quite definitely dead this time, actually. We'll tackle all of this, and of course a whole bunch more - including your community questions - in the XboxEra Podcast Episode 288!As always, if you value what we do, consider supporting us directly on Patreon.
